Miami Dolphins NFL Trade Deadline INSTANT REACTION: Minkah Fitzpatrick & Bradley Chubb STAYING

[Music] The NFL trade deadline has officially passed with the Miami Dolphins not making any other moves outside of the trade with the Eagles on Monday morning with Jaylen Phillips heading to Philly for a third round pick. I’m a little shocked by all of this. This is Dolphins today by chat sports. I am Nick Rolloloff. Like we just consistently heard that Miami was likely going to part ways with a handful of veterans. Now there were reports out there that it was either going to be Jaylen Phillips or Bradley Chub. Probably not both pass rushers, but you also look at guys like Matthew Judon. You look at guys like Mik Fitzpatrick, Rousul Douglas, veterans that have no future with the Miami Dolphins past the end of the season that could garner some interest around the league. It does stun me that Miami ultimately only made the one deal before the deadline. So, this is how everything shook out for Miami. Out of the six most likely trade candidates, only one of them was dealt away. That was the aforementioned Jaylen Phillips heading to Philadelphia for a third round pick. But Bradley Chub stays, Jaylen Wadd stays, Mafitzpatrick stays, Douglas stays, Matthew Judon all stays. I didn’t expect Judon or Douglas to have crazy interest, but I did expect one of Minko or Chub to be traded just like many other NFL insiders and analysts believed as well. But this is the full Dolphins trade deadline. Grade it for me down in the comment section. ABC, B, C, D, or F. I’m giving the Dolphins trade deadline a C. I was heavily disappointed by only trading away one veteran in Jaylen Phillips, but I do like that trade. Like I think trading Phillips and getting a day two selection was a very good and smart move by Miami. I actually applauded Champ Kelly for making that deal. Although some people didn’t like that trade because they converted some of Phillips money into a signing bonus which spans that across uh multiple years which means there is a little bit of a dead cap hit for Jaylen Phillips next year but it’s not going to be anything significant less than I think $2 million at this point with some of that money being this year of course but this being the only trade shock disappointed I thought you could have maybe got a third round pick for Mika Fitzpatrick I thought you could have got a fourth or fifth for Bradley Chub but probably closer to a fifth round pick, but Phillips ultimately the only one Dell. But there were some reports coming in after the NFL trade deadline, one from Adam Shfter saying that Miami got plenty of calls for both Jaylen Wadd and Bradley Chub, but Champ Kelly elected not to make any other deal and hold on to them both. And we’re going to talk about Jaylen Wadd more in depth here in a second. I think it’s the right decision holding on to your young wide receiver one, but I do believe it was a mistake and a miss not trading Bradley Chub or Ma Fitzpatrick. Let’s just call a spade a spade here. Both of these players are not going to be on the Miami Dolphins a year from now. They just aren’t. Like Bradley Chub’s got a $31 million cap hit next year. Megan Fitzpatrick is a 29-year-old veteran who doesn’t want to go through a rebuild with the Miami Dolphins and has no guaranteed salary of his 15.6 mill next year. Like these two guys aren’t going to be here unless they’re on revised restructured contracts and I don’t forecast that with a new regime due to the rebuilding nature of the organization. If you compare the two though, I do have more of a surprise or shock value, if you will, that Minko wasn’t traded in comparison to Bradley Chub because I’ve mentioned it a lot over our videos. The relief on Bradley Chub in terms of a trade now isn’t very much, right? Like you have only a $7.4 million savings in the cap for 2026 if you trade him now and you would then have $23.8 million in dead cap. Now, if you trade him or cut him next June, you now save $20 million in cap and only have $10 million in dead cap. So, I do anticipate Bradley Chub being traded or released with a June 1 designation, postJune one, that is. Minka might ultimately be traded before the uh draft and he could ultimately be cut before the draft as well to save Miami some money because I don’t think those two are going to agree on a revised contract. So to me, Minko was the one that made more sense to be traded rather than a trade featuring Bradley Chub. But I’m shocked that both of them are not here or I should say shocked that both of them are still here. Make sure you do subscribe because with the trade deadline passing, our content will slow down. We’re still dropping two videos a day. So, after the trade deadline pass, let’s take a look at where Miami stands with its draft capital heading into the off season. Miami has eight total picks heading into the off seasonason. They could obviously add or subtract some via trades before the NFL draft in a round for A&C, but Miami has a first, a second, three third round picks, a fourth, a fifth, and a seventh. They do not have a sixth round pick due to those trades they made for Darren Waller and the one with the Steelers this off season. But I like where Miami is at. I wish they would have added a couple more picks by trading Minko or Chub to get 10 total selections in this upcoming draft. But having five picks inside the top 100 is very enticing. Like that is a real opportunity to infuse young talent into this roster and build a culture, build a foundation to rebuild upon going forward because this roster is going to have a tear down, almost a complete overhaul, and you’re going to need young players to carry the weight going forward. Well, having five picks inside the top 100 makes me a little more optimistic than I usually would. You could also package those third rounders to potentially move up in the draft. Like, who’s saying Miami can’t package two of those third rounders from maybe Houston and Philadelphia to go acquire a second round pick in the 50s and then you would have four picks potentially inside the top 65 with your third round pick likely being really high. gives you a lot of different avenues to grab young talent from this draft in April. More coming up here in a second, but this episode is brought to you by Prize Picks. The football season rolls on. The weather is changing, but you never know never changes. Well, the feeling of being right. Keep the season rolling on Prize Picks by getting $50 instantly in lineups when you play your first $5. So simple to play. Just pick more or less on at least two player stats. If you get your picks right, you could cash in. Price fix offers stacks, meaning you can pick the same player up to three times in the same lineup. Want to pick more on Devon Aan fantasy score, receptions, rushing yards. Well, now you can all in the same lineup only on prize picks. I have an entry for Thursday night. More than Bick’s completions, more than Ashen Genty receiving yards and more than Brock Bower’s receptions. Three player entry there. You can join me. Download the prize picks app today. Use code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. That’s code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $ five dollar lineup prize picks. It’s good to be right. I do want to talk about this report as well here. Jordan Schultz reported that Jaylen Wadd was a name that the Denver Broncos and other teams reached out to and looked to potentially make a deal for before the trade deadline passed on Thursday afternoon. It was reported from Ian Rapaort and Adam Shfter that the asking price from Miami was likely going to be a firstround pick and some more draft compensation and ultimately the asking price was a little bit too high for opposing teams and this is the right decision in my opinion. Jaylen Wadd’s 26. He’s had a thousand yards in his career every single season. But last year without Tyreek Hill in 22 games, I believe he has 1500 yards, 150 receptions, and eight touchdowns. Like Jaylen Wadd, I think, is one of the most underrated wide receivers in football. And I don’t think that’s a biased thing to say. This guy’s got unbelievable speed. He is a good route runner. Yeah, there are question marks about his hands. He does struggle with drops at times, but you don’t find many players in the league that have the blend of speed and route running that Jaylen Wadd has. With him being 26, he’s under contract for three more seasons. He already is signed an extension. The cap number this upcoming year in 2026 is not big. It’s 33 and 37 and 27 and 28, which isn’t bad for a player of his caliber. Like, I’m not trading him unless you get offered an unbelievable package. Like if you’re offered something the Jets got for Quinnon Williams or Sauce Gardner, which we’ll talk about here in a second, yeah, you probably should take that deal. But if a team isn’t offering you a first and a second for Wadd, then yeah, you made the right decision by not trading him at all. Be the GM though, would you have traded Jaylen Wadd? I have no clue what teams offered. I don’t even know if we got offered a first round pick from opposing teams, but we know that the Dolphins wanted first and more. Let me know your thoughts. Would you have traded him at the deadline? Before we sign off here on this episode, I do want to talk about the New York Jets because they are the talk of the town and obviously the biggest Dolphins rival inside the division. So, all this impacts Miami a ton. And we’ll probably break this more down in depth tomorrow morning on a video. So, stay tuned for that. But the Jets went for full fire sale mode. I mean, they did what a lot of people thought Miami might do with Wadd with Devon HM. The Jets traded Sauce Gardner, their best player on the team to the New York Jet or to the Indianapolis Colts, excuse me, for two first round picks and wide receiver Adani Mitchell. Got a firstrounder from Indie in 2026 and 2027. But then they didn’t stop there. They traded their best player in S Gardner. Then they trade their second best player in Quinnon Williams. You could argue Garrett Wilson’s in there, but I think Williams and S are their top two guys. They got Mazy Smith, a second round pick this year from the Dallas Cowboys and a 2027 first round pick that is going to be the best between the Packers pick and the Cowboys pick. Cowboys own that Packers pick via the Micah Parson’s trade, so it’s the best there. So, the Jets just loaded up on future draft picks. Over the next two NFL drafts, 2026, 2027, they have eight selections in the first two rounds. It’s actually kind of absurd. They have two first round picks this year, their own in Indies. They have three first round picks in 2027, their own Indies and then the best one, aka the one closest to number one overall between Green Bay and Dallas. Plus, they have their own second round picks and then Dallas’s 2026 second round pick. Like, I just don’t think we’ve seen a tearown like this one in a very long time. You could actually say Miami did something similar where they had a boatload of picks in 2020 and 2021 where they were able to draft Jaylen Wadd, draft Jaylen Phillips, Austin Jackson, Iggy, Tua, um, Liam Mikeenberg. I mean, they had a very similar kind of draft compensation there and they were unable to make the picks necessary to get them as a consistent winner and playoff winning team. We’ll see if the Jets are able to do that. But I don’t love the fact that our rival New York, who is going to likely finish inside the top three of the NFL draft, has all of that draft capital at their disposal to make trades and to draft really elite talented players like maybe Fernando Mendoza or Jeremiah Smith in 2027. Like, I don’t love it. It makes me very uneasy to be honest. Rounding out the show with this final conversation on today’s show, one thing is clear. The man you see on your screen right now is interimm GM champ. He cannot be the full-time GM hired in January. Kelly was the interimm GM for the Raiders. He’s the interimm GM for the Dolphins. Um he should not be employed for the Dolphins at the GM position in January. You just can’t do it. Um he had the opportunity to really go out and make smart trades that set Miami up for the future. And I get it. It takes two to tango. And just maybe, just maybe, that Miami received no offers or horrible offers for Jaylen Wadd, Bradley Chub, and Ma Fitzpatrick. But did it not feel like Chris Greer 2.0? Like, oh, they made the one trade sending Phillips away from the third. Uh, we we’ll trade one guy, we’ll sell one player away, get a day two pick, but we’re not going to do anything else. We’ll go half in, half out. It’s what Miami’s been. They’ve been half in, half out their entire Christopher tenure. And it just felt like Champ Calli did the same thing this deadline. either you sell at the deadline or you don’t. That’s kind of my thoughts on it and he didn’t and I thought it was a disappointing deadline. Not like angry. It just feels like Miami could have and should have done more, but who knows? That’ll do it for this episode. Make sure you are subscribed for Daily Dolphins content. We’ll be back tomorrow with a pair of videos and live on Thursday. Join us [Music]

  1. Silver lining is that the dude that we currently have is only an interim. There’s still a lot of qualified GM candidates that we can go after in January.

  2. Miami is what – a half dozen players from reaching up to the level of mediocre? They should have emptied the locker room – but being the worst organization in the league they once again played it stupid. Nothing changes…….. they will stink for years………….. and have for 40 years. Phillips was a bust – it will be nice to see him gone – now they can replace him with another loser on the edge.

  3. I know what these clowns are gonna do. We're gonna try to win a bunch of meaningless games in order to play ourselves out of a top pick.AGAIN!

  4. Why is everyone so upset about the Dolphins not making any more trades there’s nothing to be shock or stunned about we gotta remember the Dolphins are trying to make trades. certain teams probably called the dolphins about certain players but what they’re willing to offer is not worth it so I would’ve did the same thing. And hold on to those players we are looking at what the Jets are doing with all these good draft picks they’re receiving but those good draft picks don’t mean nothing if you don’t hit on it.

  5. I would not have traded Jalen waddle unless we had two first round picks. But seeing how the salary cap is an issue, we would probably not have money to sign both first round picks. And you can’t trade job because the dead money is too great this year, after June 1 yes you can go ahead and trade him. Probably did not get any offers for Fitzpatrick and if they did, it probably was not a third round pick.

  6. The Jets traded players for high draft picks. They now have 5 first round picks and 2 second round picks. Plus many more picks. The Dolphins need to learn from them!!!!!!!😅😅

  7. I think champ had directions to keep those players unless the brinks truck with a ton of picks in it came in I honestly believe StevenRoss is a issue be has used his clout to force some decisions that have been make. I honestly believe it’s not gonna matter who the GM is

  8. We should have not extended Waddle when we did and traded him last year. He's good but only about 1/2 as good as $28 million/ year good. We might have suckered somebody out of a 1st round pick for him last year. Would he have even brought us a 3rd rounder this year, especially with the price tag he carries? I would have traded Waddle for a top 15 rated RG or RT this year that is 27 or younger and whose medical is not a red flag.

  9. The Lord God Jesus The Christ, the Holy King, The LORD God, Our Father, Who art in heaven,
    Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Holy and Divine Kingdom come.
Thy Holy and Divine Will be done,
on earth as it is in Holy and Divine Heaven.

Give us this day our holy daily bread.
    And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

    Hail Mary,
    Full of Grace,
The Lord God, the Holy King is with thee.
    Blessed art thou among women,
    and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, the Holy Lord God Jesus Christ.
    Holy Mary,
Mother of the Lord God Jesus, the Christ, the Holy King
    pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.

    Amen.

    Glory be to the Father,
    and to the Son,
    and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning,
    is now,
    and ever shall be,
    world without end.

    Amen.

Holy Angels of the Lord God, the Holy King
    my guardian dear,
To whom the Holy Lord God's holy love
    commits me here,
    Ever this day,
    be at my side,
    To light and guard,
    Rule and guide.

    Amen.

    St. Michael the Archangel,
    defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May the Lord God, the Holy King rebuke him, we humbly pray,
    and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of the Lord God, the Holy King
    thrust into hell Satan,
    and all the evil spirits,
    who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen. .

    O glorious prince St. Michael,
chief and commander of the heavenly hosts,
guardian of souls, vanquisher of rebel spirits,
servant in the house of the Divine King Lord God
    and our admirable conductor,
    you who shine with excellence
and superhuman virtue deliver us from all evil,
who turn to you with confidence
and enable us by your gracious protection
to serve the Lord God, the Holy King Jesus Christ more and more faithfully every day. Amen.

    Salve Regina/Hail Holy Queen

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile show us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Lord God Jesus Christ. O clement, O holy loving, O sweet Holy Virgin Mary.

Pray for us, O Holy Mother of the King Lord God, the Holy One.
That we may be made worthy of the promises of the Lord God Jesus Christ.

O my Lord God, the King Jesus, forgive us our sins,
    save us from the fires of hell;
lead all souls to heaven especially those who are in most need of
    Your mercy.
    Amen.

Holy Angel of the Lord God, the Holy King
    my guardian dear,
To whom the Holy Lord God's holy love
    commits me here,
    Ever this day,
    be at my side,
    To light and guard,
    Rule and guide.

    Amen.

The Holy Angel of the Lord God, the Holy King declared to Holy Mary:
And she conceived of the Lord God, the Holy Spirit.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord God, the Holy King is with thee; blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Lord God Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of the Lord God, the King pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Behold the handmaid of the Lord God, the Holy King :Be it done unto me according to Thy word.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord God, the Holy King is with thee; blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Lord God Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of the Lord God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

And the Holy Word was made Flesh: And dwelt among us.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord God, the King is with thee; blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, the Lord God Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of the Lord God Jesus, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Pray for us, O Holy Mother of the Lord Jesus God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of the Lord Jesus Christ.

    Let us pray:

Pour forth, we beseech Thee, O Lord God, the King Thy grace into our hearts; that we, to whom the incarnation of the Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, was made known by the message of an angel, may by His Holy Passion and Holy Cross be brought to the glory of His Holy Resurrection, through the same God Jesus Christ Our Lord and God.

    Amen.

'Hail, full of grace, the Lord God, the Holy King is with you' (Lk 1: 28)

    'Blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit of your womb'
    (Lk 1: 42).

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Holy Lord is with Thee, blessed are Thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, the Lord Jesus Christ. Act of Holy Faith

O my Lord God, the Holy King I firmly believe that Thou art one Lord God, the Holy King in three Divine Persons, the Holy Father, the Holy Son and the Holy Ghost; I believe that Thy Divine Holy Son became man and died for our sins and that He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths that the Holy Catholic Church teaches, because Thou hast revealed them, Who canst neither deceive nor be deceived.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

    Act of Holy Hope

O My Lord God, the King relying on Thy infinite goodness and promises, I hope to obtain pardon of my sins, the help of Thy grace and life everlasting, through the merits of God Jesus Christ, my Holy Lord and Redeemer.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

    Act of Holy Love

O my Lord God, the Holy King I holy love Thee above all things with my whole heart and soul, because Thou art all good and worthy of all holy love. I Holy love my neighbor as myself for holy love of Thee. I forgive all who have injured me, and I ask pardon for all whom I have injured. And lead us not into temptation,
    but deliver us from evil.
In Jesus Christ Lord God Holy name. Amen.

  10. So what we’re gonna do is we’re going to pay waddle big-time money to pretty much catch a couple of passes and be a cheerleader while we tank and waste his career and then of course in 10 years when we’re good again we’ll trade him anyways because that’s how stupid we are
