Celtics Fans Receive GREAT NEWS On Josh Minott After Win Over Cavaliers

[Music] After the Boston Celtics started the 2526 season 0 and3 and raised a ton of concerns from Celtics nation, they have won their last two games and get their first win in the TD Garden this season with an upset victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers 125 to 105. From the start of this game, we thought it was going to be the same song and dance. The Celtics allowed yet another 42-point quarter from an opponent. This time in the first quarter against Cleveland. But in that second quarter, the Celtics just put the straps on defensively and held the Cavaliers to 18 points heading into the break. They took a 15-point lead in and they basically just coasted and held that lead for the rest of this ball game. The Celtics closed the first half on a 20-3 run and it was behind Missoula Ball. Only one basket during that stretch. A Jaylen Brown mid-range jumper didn’t come from beyond the ark, at the rim, or at the free throw line. Missoula ball still works. And when the Celtics are rebounding the basketball, it works even better. We’re going to break down this game and all the great performances that we saw, all the great news that we got about your Boston Celtics as these questions are starting to be answered here. But my question to you is this. What is your one-word reaction to the Celtics win over the Cleveland Cavaliers here? because I did not expect Boston to come out there and dominate Cleveland in the way that they did. Hold Donovan Mitchell the way that they did after that 15-point first quarter that he had. What’s your one word reaction? Let me know down in the comments section. My one word I’m going to say is I know I’m shocked that they won this game because Cleveland started this game eight of 12 from long range or or excuse me uh 10 of 12 from long range after the first quarter. But I mean, I I could not believe the way that the Boston Celtics won the rebounding battle in this game. They showed that they could actually rebound the basketball against a pretty depleted Pelicans team. So, that game didn’t really move me. But now you’re matching up tonight against a team that employs Evan Mobley, Jared Allen, I mean, and a bunch of other solid rebounders down low for Cleveland. So, I was expecting to kind of get dominated throughout this game. I thought it was a bad matchup, but the Boston Celtics went out there and provided energy and effort. Joe Mazula said after the game that you have to wake up in the morning every single day and choose to rebound. It is a choice to go out there and go for rebounds and the Boston Celtics went out there and did that today and that’s really what dictated this game dominating possessions. As a matter of fact, this the Cavaliers had just two offensive rebounds in the entire first half. I mean, the Celtics had a 16-3 edge in second chance points going into the halftime break. This is an excellent development for this Celtics team that we know isn’t the most skilled in the front court. Isn’t the best pure rebounding group in the league, but it was energy and effort that got them there tonight. I mean, look at this trend over the past four games. Defensive rebounding percentage. How many times does the opponent miss and do you come down with the defensive rebound? I mean, the Knicks and and the Detroit Pistons were just making easy work of the Celtics on the glass, but over the past two games, I mean, you see a stark difference in the way the Celtics are rebounding the basketball. That is a team unit and that is also with some roster and rotation decisions made by Joe Mazula. Let’s talk about it here, man. Because I mean Joe Mazoul has made a uh a has changed to the starting lineup for Boston here over the last two games. And uh I don’t know if it’s a any any coincidence that the Celtics have won these last two games. That’s by bringing in Josh May not. Why not talk about May not here first on our individual statistics here as he went off man. 11 points in the start, 14 rebounds. I mean, this guy is just happy to be here at the end of the day. He’s, you know, talking crazy about the TD Garden crowd, about how special it is to win for this crowd, to win for this city, to win for this franchise. I love Josh and I’m thinking that he’s a highway robbery type of acquisition by Brad Stevens here as if he’s going to put up these lines and end up on a $2.5 million a year contract on a team option next season. I mean, it’s going to be one of the best values in the league. Knocked down a couple of his three-point attempts tonight as well. Did you know that Josh May not is a plus 550 in his last eight quarters, two games of play? It’s fantastic stuff. I mean, he he’s absolutely making a case that he should remain in the starting lineup. Joe Missoula said that he is playing to the standard that is required to be a starter on this team. So, I’m pumped up for Josh by not man. I mean, he he deserves it. He’s been he’s been working. He’s been working for his opportunity and he’s finally got it here with the Boston Celtics. Another guy who’s been waiting his turn to get his opportunity and continues to show out so far this season. Another double double on the Celtics team. Neias Kada. Shout out to Neimi, man. I mean, he he’s doing everything right. He’s He’s available. His hands are good. He’s setting good screens. He’s rolling well. He’s hitting shooters in the corners. Um he’s blocking shots. He’s getting rebounds. like he he’s doing everything we’re asking of a guy who has never started for long stretches in his NBA or professional career to this point. And uh he’s answering the call, man. 10 points, 12 rebounds, like excuse me, 13 rebounds. And you’re going up against Evan Mobley. You’re going up against Jared Allen. Jared Allen was having his way down low for a good bit to start this game. He was drawing a bunch of fouls, getting to the free throw line, but Celtics weathered the storm. They kept at it. They kept bringing the energy and just overall throughout this 48 minutes wanted it more than Cleveland. And I think Neimius Kada was a big proponent of that. But on to the Josh May not stuff. I got to ask you guys this. Should Josh Min start moving forward? Let me know down in the comments section why for yes and for no what you guys think about Joe Missoula potentially having number eight in the starting lineup here moving forward. Because I’ll tell you why the the answer might be why for yes is because we’ve seen a player come off of the bench for Boston and really find his groove shooting the basketball. And that’s one Sam Hower. I mean, there was a reason they held this guy out of trade conversations this off seasonason. It’s because he goes out there and could shoot seven of 13 from three-point range. I believe he was seven of 11 for his first 11 attempts from long range. I know he was five threes in that first quarter. Like unbelievable performance. He honestly was keeping pace with the Cleveland Cavaliers who put up 40 points. Cell put up 40 points of their own in quarter number one. It was because Sam Howser absolutely stepped up to the plate and knocked the shots down when he got the opportunity. There were other guys obviously who knocked down the shots. We’re going to talk about the Celtics superstars in just a moment. We got to talk about the player that Jaylen Brown is becoming here as he is the number one option on your Boston Celtics for this whole campaign that’s without Jason Tatum here. a 30point performance and he was absolutely stellar during that second half or that second quarter run. I believe he may have had 17 points in that second quarter. He was just dominant and he was awesome on the defensive end as well. He continues to be one of the best wing defenders if not the best defender at his position in the entire NBA. Yes, I was there to say it. He’s a two-way superstar and he’s playing at a number one allNBA type of level so far this season. He’s averaging 25 points per game. He’s averaging like six rebounds, five rebounds, five assists, all that jazz. And he’s also averaging on 50 51% shooting, I think it is, and 46% from three-point range. Another 40 plus percent outing from deep for him tonight. He’s answering the call after a couple of uh interesting first games, not so not so much statistically, just vibes in general from Jaylen Brown. Feels like he’s all the way here now and he’s embracing that role as the number one option and the leader of this team. Another guy who I got to talk about here is Derek White. Obviously, I just mentioned that he lost my prize picks uh by one point, but um he was solid, man. Just inefficient night for him for him shooting the basketball. That’s going to be, you know, something that happens as the season goes along. He’s got a bigger role. He’s shooting a lot more jump shots off the dribble now than he was prior. So, you know, that’s just going to come into in due time with him getting better in that area. Derek White’s a guy who if he’s struggling, he’s going to find a way to fix it. So, I have really no problems there with D. White. Also continues to play excellent on ball defense as we know he does. Payton Pritchard finally seems to kind of be going here into this starting point guard role and not really, you know, making Celtics fans kind of regret Joe Mazula’s decision here. So far this season, he’s averaging 15.8, five and a half rebounds, five assists tonight. And he’s also in a shooting slump as well. You see there, 1 for8 from three-point range. That’s not something that is a one-off tonight against Cleveland. No. uh he he’s been struggling from shooting the basketball and that probably comes with all the added responsibility that he has with the usage rate going up for Pritchard this year. So that’s going to come in due time. It’s one of the best knockdown shooters that we’ve ever seen at the point guard spot. So trust me, Pton Pritchard is going to be back and he’s already putting up respectable stat lines and carrying this mantle as a Celtic starting point guard with a lot of grace here. Uh Anthony Simons, we’ll talk about real quick. He was cool. He was cool. Pretty efficient from the field as well. I’ll take that every single night if you’re going to go four for six from three-point range. Again, the Celtics marketing Anthony Simons up here as he’s probably going to be a, you know, kind of a trade casualty that they have to make as the season goes along. But while he’s here, I’m loving it. And, uh, you know, he he’s fun to watch, man. Twitchy athlete, you know, elite shotmaker, difficult shotmaker as well. So, cool stuff from Anthony Simons here. Um, shout out to Luka Garza. Honestly, thought he played pretty solid throughout this game and was I think he combined with Nimia Kada for like seven offensive rebounds in that first half. Really, really nice showing from him there. had a block as well down low. Like he he’s a hustler, an absolute hustler from for offensive rebounds. Never going to actually bang down low and like go up and sky up for rebounds above bigs down there. But when there’s a long rebound going out to the corner or something like that, he’s going to chase it down. When a ball is going out of bounds, he’s going to try his best to save it. Like another hustle guy and and that’s what Joe Mazula said. When we have a training camp like we had, guys know there’s an expectation of how we’re going to come out and play and we need to keep doing that like they did against Cleveland here. I love the effort that Boston put in here against the Cavs who project to be one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference with the way the Eastern Conference looks right now. I mean, I know we were saying doom and gloom, Celtics soft tank in here and all that stuff, but like it’s wide open. It’s anybody’s ball game and I think the Celtics can take advantage of that like anybody else could in the Eastern Conference. That will do it for today’s show.
