A source close to the Knicks tells Front Office Sports that the team reached out to the White House about the post, and they voluntarily took it down.

“The Knicks remain neutral on political matters,” the team said in a statement to FOS on Wednesday. “We hope all our elected officials, whether current or recently elected, do a great job in office.”

  1. Surprised the White House took it down tbh.

Is Dolan a big donor? I don’t think I’ve ever heard any connections to him and politics, but I’ve also not paid attention.

  2. Jesus fuck, this is like the tenth time someone posted this in the last 24 hours. Please stop.

  3. This is hilarious. As a kid I thought the Knicks logo was the best logo in the league I would spend hours drawing it and perfecting it lol. I’m glad to see the Whitehouse loved that logo too.

  4. I had to do so many F5s to get this shit off my reddit front page. Treating politics like a game (literally in this case) is so damn toxic.

  5. All I know is that the Knicks stared down the leader of the free world and made him back down.

  6. I can’t believe it Jimmy D really sent the MSG legal team after the Orange man and the white house with a cease and desist letter and succeeded in getting it taken down.

I didn’t know he had it in him.

  7. F Dolan but the Knicks logo is sacred. It can’t be desecrated the way it was last night

  8. Among the many unfortunate things about Dolan, he’s a MAGAt. I’m sure the NBA made him reach out to Trump.

  9. Credit where credit is due. I expected Dolan to stay tight lipped and he didn’t. Good on him

  10. Call me crazy but “the team reached out” and “voluntarily took it down” doesn’t make sense

They obviously reached out because they wanted it taken down. If they had not called, it would still be up.

  11. Guys don’t post about the new mayor or politics!!!!

You’re causing too much cognitive dissonance for our MAGA fans

  12. Wow, it’s almost as if half this sub was talking out of their ass when they claimed Dolan wouldn’t mind Trump or Cuomo using the logo

  13. They also told Mamdani to knock it off as well, he was doing the same. Edit:The New York Knicks issued a cease-and-desist letter to Mamdani after the politician used a modified version of the Knicks logo in campaign advertisements.

Eh well ok ig. Didn’t think Dolan would actually be fair about this but, whatever…

  15. Please keep politics out of sports.

Nothing against Zohran, but his use of the Knicks logo and this WH post is highly annoying.

  16. There are enough politics in the game of basketball

We don’t need world politics in there

Sports is an escape, let’s keep it that way

    Go Knicks!!

  17. Self interest by the Knicks. If you have a trademark, you must defend it when you’re aware it’s being openly violated or your trademark can become at risk. Also, MSG has substantial ongoing deals and disputes with the city including not owning the land it is on and leasing it from the city, as well as a unique property tax exemption from the city, so it is useful to have the mayor on your side. Those are the concrete reasons, they may also have faced some fan backlash. So I’ll chalk this up to a simple business decision rather than Dolan rejecting authoritarianism.

  18. Wow mods removed someone’s post on this yesterday, glad they let this one stay. W for Dolan, he said fuck that.
