Rockies front office search reeks of owner meddling

3. My favorite team in all professional sports is being held captive by an old man with no meaningful history of success who will not change his ways.

   I really wish that the Rockies had an ownership model like Green Bay. That would prevent people like Dick Monfort becoming entrenched in community institutions where they will continually haunt us.

4. We’re going to end up with the Kris Bryant of GMs. Oh wait, that’s who we’ve had the last two times Dick hired a GM.

8. I’ve said this before but Dick Monfort is just a much poorer version of Jerry Jones with way less charisma and way less motivation to win. Until he dies or sells the team, the Rockies will always be terrible.

   I am secretly hoping am expansion team comes to Utah in the off chance that they hire “smart baseball people” to run the team and build a winning team at altitude so the whole “running a baseball team at altitude is hard” narrative that Monfort constantly pushes blows up in his face.

9. How old is dick? Guess we can estimate how many years he has left and something will change when he kicks the bucket. Until then boycott the team.

11. sigh…We couldn’t even get to winter meetings without ol’ Dick “I’ve tried nothing and I’m all out of ideas” Monfort squashing any glimmer of progress. Let’s stay the course and trust the process Dick, it’s really been working out. We’ve been setting ignominious records left and right so maybe someday they’ll put a plaque above a toilet in Cooperstown for you.

12. This just reeks of cheapness. If he can’t afford to run the team he should sell it.

    How can you want a new GM but not want to pay them??? Hopefully this articles sources are shaky because of this behavior is still the status quo, our hope won’t last long.

14. When there was no announcement made Monday, that was the indicator. That Jerry Jones comparison would be spot on except Jerry actually has some rings.

15. I hate treating billionaires like saviors. But we need a billionaire (Kroenkes? Walton-Penner group?) to make Dick an offer he can’t refuse. Otherwise, there’s no way out.

    Dick has killed my love of baseball, and that’s true for so many others. He’s directly responsible for the state of Colorado not producing baseball players like we used to. Who wants to grow up playing baseball when the local team is a perennial loser?
