This Is EMBARRASSING…
This is embarrassing. Jason Kidd still refuses to put a point guard in the starting lineup. He refuses to run the right rotations in the right defensive sets, getting guys the best looks possible, which is the reason why the Dallas Mavericks are currently sitting with a record of two and four, while also simultaneously losing to two of the worst teams over the last several seasons in the NBA. First, we lost to the Wizards, but then tonight we lose 122 to 110 to the Detroit Pistons, who did make the playoffs last year. I’ll give them their props and respects, but the Dallas Mavericks already went into this game without Anthony Davis, knowing it was going to be a tough match, but we still made it somewhat competitive. We were staying in the game for the majority of the game, but like always, things fell apart. The Dallas Mavericks have a bottom two defense in the NBA and they proved it tonight where sometimes the offense looked good. Sometimes the offense wasn’t even there, especially down the stretch when we got outscored time and time again while we’re trying to get ahead when the game was so close. The Dallas Mavericks continue to disappoint. The team does not have an identity and honestly, I don’t know who really stood on business tonight. But how’s it going everybody? My name is Marcel Martin. This is Mavericks Digest, bringing you the latest news on everything Mavericks related. And we’re not even going to talk about the sub count. I appreciate all you guys subscribing to the channel, but we need to talk about what is going on with this team. I would love to see some wins against teams that we know we can beat. All due respect to the Detroit Pistons. Yes, they made the playoffs last year. Yes, Kade Cunningham looks phenomenal. But tonight, it wasn’t even Kate Cunningham that looked good. We made Jaylen Duran look like prime Shaquille O’Neal getting anything he wanted in the paint. The Pistons had over 70 points in the paint. One of the biggest issues that this Dallas Mavericks team has had all season long and the majority of last season was perimeter defense. Teams were able to shoot threes at a very high efficiency against us. It didn’t matter what we did. Today, we stopped that. The Pistons really didn’t shoot that well from three. We defended the three ball very well, but none of that matters if every single player can just attack the basket, get a floater, get a dunk, back us down, and get an easy layup off the glass. We could not defend the paint. Even with Daniel Gaffer back, we did find out before the game Daniel Gaffer would be made available, but on a minutes restriction, only played about 17 minutes. Not too bad for his first NBA game of the season. But overall, we just couldn’t do anything. Dwight Powell couldn’t defend the paint. PJ couldn’t defend the paint. The PJ was not staying on business tonight. He was in foul trouble and was just nowhere to be found. Cooper flag still just average, I guess. nothing really to be excited about, but it was D’Angelo Russell. 31 points off the bench for the Dallas Mavericks. Was the only player who looked like he showed up to try and get a dub. And if we take a look at the box score from tonight, not much to really talk about, but like I said, Daniel Gavin, his first game back, had seven points, three I’m sorry, seven points, four rebounds, three assists. Welcome back, Daniel Gaford. I’m glad that you were here. PJ Washington in 36 minutes had six points, five rebounds, five assists. shot three of 13 from the floor and 0 of five from three. Not the best game from PJ, especially someone who was really just there for us. Someone who was really consistent all season long. And I’ll give him grace. Good players can have bad games. These happen. But we got to talk about those bad games still as he was just inefficient from the floor, shooting very poorly. The defense was good until it wasn’t. Towards the end of the game, PJ was just committing just bad just bad calls, bad fouls. He had only only two fouls, but those were bad fouls towards the end of the game that we really didn’t need. Not the best look from PJ. I expect that he’ll bounce back on Monday against the Rockets, but tonight absolutely abysmal. Didn’t stay on business at all. Cooper flag also just there. Yes, he had 16 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and one steal. He shot three of 14 from the floor, two of six from three. Glad he made all his free throws. And there’s a lot that I can say about Cooper Flag now. Yes, we’re five games in. You guys would be very quick to remind me it’s only five games. It’s like Monday only six games. Eventually, we need to see something from Cooper Flag. I truly do believe we have not yet seen the best or the most that we will get out of Cooper Flag so far. I am excited and I cannot wait for that to happen. But in games like this where yes, 16 points look good. You had a few assists. That’s great. You shot three of 14. Many times he would be under the basket instead of just trying to go up with force. Maybe get a foul and go to the line. He’s passing it almost every time just passing open looks. It did not make sense to me what Cooper Flag was trying to do. I understand he’s not going to really take over. He’s not going to just force a win by just going out there and doing everything himself. And I get that. He’s a rookie. He’s 18. You don’t have to remind me. I know. We all know. But we’re going to call it like it is. There are things that are a part of Cooper Flags game that just doesn’t look good. Not scoring when you are able to or when you have a good look is very, very frustrating. I get it. You want to get guys involved. I get that you’re a point guard, I guess, a point forward, whatever you want to call it. But we need Cooper Flag to just get the easy buckets. Just get the easy buckets as they come. But what I saw from Cooper Flag was just uninspiring. It was very mid. I mean, yeah, 16 points, that’s great. Eight rebounds also good. Four assists. I love that. But I three of 14, he would have had a crazy statline if he just made a few more of his shots. If he was able to be more efficient on defense, I will also add that his defense was horrible. He was tied with Naji Marshall for the worst plus minus on the team with a minus 21. And that I’m sorry, no, I’m sorry. He had a minus 12. Klay Thompson had a minus 21. We’ll talk about that a little bit. But Cooper Flag, we still haven’t seen his best yet. I’m looking forward to it, but it was not tonight. And then there’s Klay Thompson. We’ve talked about Klay Thompson a lot over the last few days. And tonight he did look better on the offensive end. He had 11 points, three three rebounds, one assist. He shot four of nine from the floor, three of seven from three, which I absolutely love, but was a complete and utter cone on defense. Team worst minus 21. Klay Thompson, I just I mean, I’m Thank you for the threes. Thank you for the offense. Just defense, maybe we need both. We can’t just have one, but it seems like the Dallas Maver will either give you good offense or give you good defense. We just can’t ever have decent of either or. And then to round off the start is Max Christie had 13 points, six rebounds, five assists, shot five of nine from the floor, two of five from three. Can’t be too mad with what we saw from Max Christie. He’s been very consistent all season long. And I’m appreciative that we have him. But off the bench, where a lot of our success would lie on if we did win, you got Dwight Pow with five points, six rebounds, one assist. Caleb Mart with two points, two rebounds, one assist. Naji Marshall with only seven points, two rebounds, no assists, and one steal. Haven’t really been getting a lot out of Naji Marshall out of a as of late. A team worse, I’m sorry, tied for a team worse minus 21. We know that Naji Marshall wears many different hats. We know that he’s a point guard, a shooting guard, small forward, small ball, four, maybe five. We know that we kind of throw him around everywhere. Some nights look great, some nights a little bit uninspiring. I’m not saying this was a horrible night from Naji. Just wasn’t the ones that we definitely needed from him. And then D’Angelo Russell, the only player who really seemed to show up tonight off the bench. When he was also, may I may I remind you that before tonight’s game, he was listed as questionable dealing with a left knee contusion. At the last second, he was made available. They said minutes restrictions, but DeAndrew Russell had other plans. He played 30 minutes, the most off the bench, had 31 points, seven rebounds, three assists, shot 10 of 17 from the floor, and seven of 13 from three. And I, again, being one of D’Angelo Russell’s biggest defenders, it feels like it feels like I’m I’m president of the D’Angelo Russell fan club, D’Angelo Russell is what this team needs. Either you put him in the starting lineup or you put some other point guard in the starting lineup. I don’t know how many how many stats, how many metrics, how many things we need to look at till we realize D’Angel Russell is good for this Dallas Mavericks team. One of the biggest issues that he’s had for the majority of the season so far is the offense was just not efficient. His shooting has been bad. Tonight it was good and I get it. D’Angelo Russell can be up and down, not the most consistent, but how many times do we need to see this team find success when we have a point guard until we decide to put a point guard in the starting lineup? We can win these games. Again, the Pistons and the Wizards, historically bad games in recent memory. We’ve lost to both teams already. We can win these games. We can win these games. And it just blows my mind that we just can’t. we make it so hard on ourselves. But to finish up with the box score, Brandon Williams didn’t really have that big of a night, but I’m glad that he was able to be productive as he did have 12 points, one steal, shot three of seven from the floor, and one of four from three. And I guess we do got to talk about who stood on business. It didn’t feel like anybody did cuz we still lost, but I got to give it to D’Angelo Russell. 31 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and like I said, seven of 13 from three. I’m not too mad that myself, but you guys let me know who you think still business. I think it’s obviously D’Angelo Russell, but a few other things that we’re definitely going to take a look at before we go. Like I said, D’Angelo Russell 31 points, seven rebounds, 10 of 17 from the floor, seven of 13 from three. Was a much better shooting night, better offense, was able to get things going. Hit some very clutch threes at the end of the fourth quarter. Hit two or three back to back to just try to will us back in this game. And it really was everybody else that just kind of fell apart. But to continue, we do have a few other things. Jason kid, why are you setting doubles at half court with no rim protection? This is the reason why our interior defense was horrible. This is why the Pistons had over 70 points scored in the paint. It didn’t take a a scientist or a genius to point it out. But yes, we’re throwing doubles at half court trying to be good on defense and then there’s the paint wide open. Couldn’t do nothing about it. But as well as shout out to Glenn Junior who tweeted this out saying Mavs are allergic to defense during the game. It was towards the end, the Pistons are currently outscoring them 72 to 26 in the paint. pathetic. The Dallas Mavericks being one of the Nope. The Dallas Mavericks being one of the biggest teams in the NBA. Dallas Mavericks having some of the best defense in the NBA. It is very easy for this team to fall apart and there’s a lot of things wrong. And I get it. It’s just five games. But we got to look at how we’re winning these games, how we’re losing these games. We are getting destroyed. Yes, we lost by 12. We were never really down by that much until the end of the game. They kind of just gave up towards the end. And then 72 to 26 in the paint. That’s horrible. We couldn’t attack the basket at all. Thank God the jump shot was falling. We were able to get to the free throw line, hit our threes. Like, that’s all great, but we couldn’t do anything on the interior. We couldn’t defend it at all. Absolutely embarrassing. Hopefully, we bounce back on Monday. The Rockets really haven’t been doing that well either. But it really doesn’t matter. There’s no such thing as as a free and easy win anymore for the Dallas Mavericks. But let me know what you think in the comment section down below. How do you feel about today’s game? Were you upset by it? Is this exactly what you thought was going to happen? Or are we still just overreacting? Let me know what you think in the comment section down below. We could have a conversation about it. But till next time, y’all take care. Drink water. Peace.

The talent is obviously there. Im still high on our squad. Jkidd like genuinely forgot how to coach. He got the extension and stopped caring
The Pistons have three championships, show some respect
bro you need to put some respect on Detroit name (4-2) they have a squad. You need to look in the mirror and admit that the Mavs are ass!🤣
PJ WASHINGTON IS ON THE TAKE. O STATS SECOND HALF. DUDE THREW THE GAME
"a few moments later" Luka dropped 40 plus in his first 3 games and he's in tip top shape!!! and AD doing what AD does hurting and he came into camp looking like professor Klump !!!!!😂😂😂
Are the Mavs still the #1 Defense? Asking for a friend. Does Bozo/niko still have a job? Are we finally winning that championship Bozo said we would when we traded Luka? Asking for a friend?
Hey guys, lets play four bigs and Klay Thompson. What's the worst that could happen? Dumont, Nico, and Kidd are all acting like mentally handicapped individuals. Worse than the losing is screwing up Cooper Flagg. He's a power forward, not a guard.
Mavs traded their identity . . .
8:18 when did the Pistons have a "Historically bad game"?
Jason Kidd is ruining Cooper and tanking already. Fire him. The kid already cant score….now you put him at PG??? He is even worse at scoring from that position on the floor.
The hatewatch continues. Lets go time to fire nico
Here’s the problem. Cooper has a dog shit coach and zero development.
#firenico that’s the reason why we are 2-4
Mean while La Luka is averaging 40+ a game tied with chamberlain 💪🏆💜💛
they can't fire Nico cause all of them were in agreement. have a tough time in the mirror cause they know they should be fired too. its ok, AD will be back soon and sooner or later cooper will say to hell with everybody else, i'm getting mine. they'll follow coop!! they're waiting for you! lol
Shooting issues and Hardy is shooting the 3ball at 48% that can’t get minutes.
This was a game we should have won. Gafford obviously not in game shape yet did what he could. If Klay is hitting his shots, you leave him in until he starts missing. After hitting his first two threes he got yanked. This guy can be a streak shooting so until the streak ends, we might as well try to get our money's worth out of him. The last three minutes of the fourth we played with no 5 so free lay ups. I think we have to figure a way for Hardy to contribute on a night like this one instead of constantly going to Flagg as if he was the go-to guy. I realize one day he will be but until then he comes off the bench. We have to kick Naji in the butt and demand more from him also. Tough loss, we can and will do better. Go Mavs!
Hahah maybe he's trying to get a #1 pick again 😂😂😂
If only D’Angelo Russell could score like that every night or the full bench we would be ok until Kyrie’s return.
Give it time. If Kyrie comes back and every one stays healthy at the end the Mavericks will make it to the final 4 teams.
Starting five to me should be: Russel
Flagg
Washington
Davis
Gafford
DLo played 31 mins, what's the problem if he starts or doesn't start if he plays that long?
