NHL Highlights | Blues vs. Capitals – November 5, 2025

on the night. Nice to have you on board on Monumental Sports Network. Off and running. Referees are Wes Mccaulay and Peter McDougall. It’s Michelle Cormier with Brandon Gillow on Sunfist on the sendaway. Broberg works it out wide, goes right to the front for a redirect. Thompson with a sparkler there. Shake it up high enough. The pass was a little flat and a little too slow. Had there been a little more mustard on it, Broberg would have just redirected it a lot harder. Would have made it a tougher stop for Logan Thompson. Alexe Prous retrieves on the outside. Roy has a a severe angle developing. Gloved by Bennington. Czech keeping it on the outside, but Capitals attack in waves here. Back-to-back shifts. This is awesome. Just the way they’ve moving the puck around. They’re dead tired. Three of them have been out for more than two. out in tight. Stick save Bennington with Pareco in the box. Two minutes for cross-checking. Caps get control. Czech sets up shot top side with Carlson. Lines and fires. Score. Wilson camped out in front. That changes direction and Washington has the lead. 9 seconds win the draw. Last game Strowmer was over 67% at the dock. Pass Bennington. There’s Tom setting up shop, taking away the eyes. Broberg in front of him. And that’s a sweet deflection as he spins his stick to the opposite side of his body and John Carlson just tease it up. That’s the way to get the O going. Get the power play going. There it is. Right off Tom Wilson. The Caps have a one- nothing lead. Wilson who leads the Caps in goals and points. Faravari gets to the middle. Swarmed there by three St. Lewis defenders twist this one wide. Ovetkin turns snap shot stopped there as we get to the McNugget minute of the opening period. Caps are winning all the loose puck battles here. Mcichael cross ice beauty prous save. Bennington follow-up chance. He made that one too. I mean it’s Bennington against Logan Thompson. Two guys definitely in line for team Canada. Bennington probably the upstart over Logan right now. And this is what they need from Bennington. how the change of weight it shot has changed. It really has because the defense can’t get stick on puck if you exchange weight back foot front foot like even on that done play where he got that shot away against Seattle. He would Bennington waiting back behind his goal. Wants to play it himself. Lost it there to Ovuchkin. Quick relay comes to the point. Checking fires. Just missed. Ovkin turns. He scores. The grade eight is the one and only at 900. His chase of 900 concludes on a backhand strike. Yeah, who would have thought, right? He’s not known for his backhand, but he had the wherewithal to spin and chip the puck past the leg of Bennington into the net. Watch this. I mean, that’s a goal scorers goal, and he’s done it 900 times. Bollier for Ovetchkin from skate to stick. Alex to the outside. Squeezed off there by Faulk. Bollier knifing in. Delays to his backhand. He scores. A fantastic move. [Music] Throw it down to Oie. Watch what Bennington does. Look at Ovkin here. He sees Ovetkin and he’s think, “Oh, he’s going to give it right to Ovetchkin.” Then he freezes him. He looks over to Ovetchkin. The puck doesn’t go there and Bo Villier has the top shelf easily around the goalender. I think Bennington was thinking, “I better watch that guy with 900 goals right now.” He watches him, but Bilier able to step around him. The Caps have a three Cobb lead. 28-year-old Anthony Boilier in his first full season. Check got a couple of assists already in tight here. Backhand chance. Gloved. Thompson made the stop there on Sunquist. Thomas crisscrossing in. walking right on in. And Thompson managed to keep those pants down long enough. It’s his third career three assist game. Down was upset there at center as Broberg crosses over. go have a few words with him. St. Louis 22 Washington. Yeah. We’ve seen Chen have some good bouts wherever he’s landed in Philadelphia or here in St. Louis as he takes Duane down. Linesman Cormier and Gillow get in there. Pareo threw the initial open ice hit and then two very sound, very honest hockey players get after one another. Absolutely. Chronicled Alexkin’s 900 goals in his career and outdid themselves again tonight. Carlson closing in, spins, fire, score. John Carlson. Long shifts this and that and it’s a quick spinama by John Carlson in the high slot and Bennington couldn’t find it in his catching mer getting ready on their bench to probably replace Bennington especially in backto back situations. You could go back to Bennington tomorrow night in Buffalo if they so choose. Here’s the spinama. There’s a shot. No. Jordan Bennington here in the second period. Carlson waits. Man advantage just about 65 seconds from deep. Deflected at the line. No signal yet. Hoer and the Blues keep it away. Got a piece of the puck right in the paint. There’s Hoffer. There’s the shot. Another nice deflection by Tom, by the way. Leads to this problem there. And now they’re looking to see if that glove was over top. It looked like it got pushed underneath over Wilson is showing quite a knack for those aerial deflect. They’ve been involved in a big way putting up six points. That’s what you were begging for during Cap’s pregame live. Wilson punched this ahead. That would have been a hand pass follow up. Score since the Blues touched it. It was a live puck and there was no mistake under the bar. How you going to stop that? There’s the hand pass. You nailed it, Joe. Then the stick touches it. Now he gets it on a sharp angle and beats the goalie over the right shoulder. Nicely done overall by the Caps. There’s Bollier staying with it. Short side high. I thought the goalender was down a little low. I know they teach him that this day and age, but he’s down to the butterfly. Leaves a small spot about the right shoulder and he puts her home. Fourth down tonight. One goal in the first, four more in the second, equaling a four-goal third period from earlier in the year at Columbus. Five better than the Blues with 20 minutes to go. Born in Wales, moved to Australia at age two. Seven full seasons now with the Blues. Set piece. Thompson made the stop there on Fowler and then Turupenko missed. He’s got a backhand. He scores. Shutout bid is ruined. 37 seconds into period three and it’s a short-handed marker against the Caps. Roachchenko gets the puck. Watch him get it. The puck’s bouncing around like crazy off the wall. It looked like the Caps had it there. Lapierre, then he’s pickpocketed and it’s probably going to be an unassisted goal. Peropenko playing in his seventh game. Had no points coming in. 6’6. All of them got that backhand to go top shelf. Three on three at the attacking line. Thomas showing his patience, but he’s ripped off by Leonard. This is a potential threeon-one. Milano right on in. Great pass. Poker with a stop on Carlson. Backtracked there by Shen. This gets away from Wilson. Mcichael pouncing on it. Van Reike to Sandine. High slot deflection stop. Rebound score. Tom Wilson makes it a half dozen. [Applause] comes back and he just shows you what he brings to the table. Good DD pass. Look at Sandine looking around. Gets the first deflection from Tom Wilson right on the tape allowing him to get that high tip and Tom just turns and follows the rebound off the left pad before the D can get to the puck first. Tom’s already quickly spanked there. You can see the footwork much better on his toes getting ready for that shot and got all of that. Excellent block by Walker. Please tell me that Walker has some padding in the hip pocket there. Oh, Milano walks on in. Hoer stepped out on the angle. Yeah, he’s a puck in there. Wilson’s done that 19 times now in his career and eight points from the defensive core. Well done. Deflection try at the doorstep just failing to connect. That’s a fabulous right toe save there by Hoer. John Carlson waits with Farravari as time ticks down to 4:15. Sort of freezing in. Good centering pass there. Hoper was at the post for Dow. Washington had just one winning against St. Louis in its last five year this evening. A convincing 6-1 winner over the guys from St. Louis. Domination by the DC boys. [Music]

Alexander Ovechkin became the first player in NHL history to reach 900 goals, Jakob Chychrun dished out three assists, while Tom Wilson and Anthony Beauvillier each scored twice to lead the Washington Capitals to a 6-1 win over the St. Louis Blues.
