New England Patriots NFL Trade Deadline Winners & Losers Ft. Eliot Wolf & Terrell Jennings
[Music] So, the Patriots, they made no moves. No moves at all. And you might be thinking, “Well, Brett, how could we have winners and losers from the NFL trade deadline?” Well, there’s some people that benefited this from the Patriots not making any moves. And I think there’s also losers that did not benefit from the NFL trade deadline, and we’re going to go over it. But welcome into Patriots today by chat sports. I am your host Bert Albert and I know it’s a whole process between Mike Frabel, Stretch, Ryan Cen, and Elliot Wolf, but Elliot Wolf is considered the general manager. So have a day, Elliot Wolf. Have a day. This is what you traded for, a bunch of nothing. And we sat there and waited for three hours while you were probably twidding twiddling your thumbs on Tik Tok and Instagram reels like how I do before I go to sleep every single night. And of course, Mike Frabel was asked about it during his Wednesday press conference and he made probably the weirdest analogy that I have ever seen. Deals are like being pregnant. You either are or you aren’t. I know that everybody worked hard. They made phone calls and in the end we decided that that was what we were going to do. Okay, Mike. I mean, I didn’t think at the time that you were going to make a trade. I said it multiple times and everybody said, “You got to trust Ricky Scoops. You got to trust Ricky Scoops.” Well, if you know me, like you know the Patriots, no moves never happen. But I’ll ask you guys, are you still mad that the Patriots made zero moves? Give me a Y for yes or give me an N for no down in the comments section. Now to the winners after the trade deadline. First one. And we’re talking about Ricky Scoops. He was the one that kept saying the Patriots are going to trade for a running back. The Patriots are going to trade for a running back. The Patriots are going to trade for a running back. Well, Terrell Jennings got signed and I think that he was one of the big reasons why the Patriots did not make a trade. And I think that he benefits the most out of any player on the Pats at them not making a single move because if you see right there his stats versus the Falcons. I know it’s only a 3.2 average, but 11 carries, 35 yards, and a touchdown. Got his first career touchdown with the Pats and it was awesome to see. I know he celebrated and I am a true believer in this in number 26. But with no running back added and Ramandre Stevenson is your running back one. Tayvon Henderson is your two. Jennings is your third running back. He is going to be your third. He’s that guy that can also perform on special teams. He’s that guy that can come in for relief if Raandre is tired. And Trayvon Henderson is also tired. But Raandre, could he be back? He missed last week with a toe injury and he did not participate in practice on Wednesday with that same toe injury. So, could we see him being back? But if not, the Patriots, they could elevate Dearest Johnson once again. And I think it’s also saying that they didn’t place Raandre on IR. So, I think that he’s going to be okay. But Terrell Jennings, he’s going to be a point in this offense. He’s going to be in the rotation and I think he benefits the most. The second one, and that’s Kyle Williams. And we’ve talked about Kyle Williams over and over and over again. But with Kyle Williams, well, the Patriots were also rumored by Ricky Spanish to go for a trade for a wide receiver. Talking about one. Well, the Patriots didn’t trade for a wide receiver, but there were multiple trade options available. We saw yesterday that former Patriots wide receiver Jacobe Meyers was traded to the Jaguars from the Raiders. And it did not take much, a 2026 sixthround pick and a 2026 fourthround pick. If I’m going to be honest, the Patriots were rumored to have a reunion with Jacobe Myers. I know how much uh Josh McDaniels loved Jacobe Meyers and he’s a solid wide receiver. That would help this team, but it did not happen. But then, of course, you saw another trade happen. And this was one where I was just like, “Oh, I would love the Patriots to get this guy.” Andrew Callahan kind of talked about it. Ben Solac of the ESPN talked about it and I just kind of thought that this was a possibility, but obviously the Patriots did not want to trade for him. And it’s Rasheed Shahed. Rasheed Shahed went to the Seattle Seahawks and that was somebody that I thought the Patriots could have gotten. And it didn’t cost much either. A 2026 fourth round pick, a 2026 fifth round pick. I said if the Patriots were going to go up and h get somebody you could get a draft pick like that and he is someone that takes the top off the defense. Well, who’s another guy that can take the top off the defense that has very similar characteristics to Rasheed Shahid? It’s not your guy that’s going to go out there and catch 10 passes in one single game. It’s going to be your guy that goes for 30 yards down the field and catch the deep ball. Well, Kyle Williams kind of does the same exact thing, except we haven’t really seen him that much this year. We have not seen him that much this year. two catches, 20 yards. But now with Kahan Booty having a hamstring injury, well, you kind of had to go out and get another wide receiver if you really thought that Kahan Booty was going to be out because hamstring injuries are nothing to play with. Patriots not trading for one and even kind of calling up somebody for one tells me that they’re confident in Kyle Williams. It tells me that they believe in him. I don’t think this is going to be another situation where we see, hey, I guess, well, guess what? He’s just going to be another Jaylen Pulk. And when you look at the Patriots wide receiver depth chart, it kind of fills out. You have six already. So, if you traded for a wide receiver, what do you do here? Do you cut Eton Chisum? No. I like him on special teams. Matt Collins is a leader on this team. Kyle will or Kahan Booty’s one of your top deep threats. Demario Douglas has been sneaky the last four weeks of the season getting open and then Stfan Diggs is having one of his best seasons in the last couple of years, but Kyle Williams has not been on the same page as Drake May. He needs to get the same connection. He needs to get that chemistry if he wants to be a part of this Patriots future we saw last week because he played like 30 snaps after Booty left with that hamstring injury and he couldn’t even he couldn’t figure it out. The miscommunication was greatly it showed a lot during that game. You could feel how much Kahan Booty was missed, but you needed that ex wide receiver and that’s why they brought into the practice squad Brennan Rice. But I don’t think that’s going to be anything any like anything worth to sneeze about. It’s going to be a practice squad guy. He’s probably not going to be here once Kanan Booty comes back. But the Patriots, we might see Kyle Williams a lot on Sunday against the uh against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. So, don’t miss our Patriots versus Bucks watch party, but we also had a Patriots Falcons if you guys tuned in. That was awesome, awesome, awesome. We had 70,000 people. So, if you don’t want to miss out on our watch parties every single week, go down and subscribe right now. Now, the last guy that I think is a winner of the trade deadline, and it’s someone we really haven’t talked about much at all, and that’s Braden Swinson. And you might think, well, Braden Swinson, where is he at? Well, he’s on the practice squad and he has not made his NFL debut yet this season. And if you ask me multiple times, I’ve said it for weeks on end leading up to the deadline yesterday. I wanted an edge rusher. I wanted an Ardikiti. I wanted an Ardan Key. Yeah, maybe Germaine Johnson would have been cool or a Jaylen Phillips would have been cool, but they didn’t make one. But you have Braden Swinson that you picked up in not the sixth round or the seventh round. You picked him up in the fifth round and he was one of the best players on LSU’s roster last year. He has yet to make his NFL debut. And them not adding a pass rusher. Well, if someone gets hurt, he gets elevated immediately. And even though you don’t have much depth after your two starters, Caleb von Chaissson and Harold Landry are obviously going to be your two top guys, but Anthony Jennings Caleb Murphy has been your waiver claim that you got from the Chargers, which is cool. And then Elijah Ponder is just I think Brayden Swinson has an opportunity to get the call up and maybe an elevation sooner or later, especially with this weak edge room after your two starters. And Mike Smith, the linebacker coach, he’s talked about Braden Swinson a bunch. And this is what he said literally earlier this week. He said he’s trimming up. He’s been working these last three weeks. I actually told him before practice how proud I was of him. He’s really developing. and guys like that, the younger guys, it takes time when they get in a rhythm and a routine of things and feel how the NFL is. It’s different obviously in college. I think that the coaches trust Braden Swinson and I think sooner or later we might see that elevation come before an NFL Sunday and he’ll make it to make his debut very very soon. Coming up, I got the losers. There’s not many of them, but we got to get into it. But before that, I got to tell you about our sponsor of today’s show, and that is Prize Picks. The hard-hitting football action is even better with prize picks. The weather might be changing, but the feeling of being right never gets old. So, keep the season rolling on prize picks by getting $50 instantly in lineups when you play your first $5. Prize picks is simple to play. Just pick more or less than two to six player stat projections. And if your picks are right, you could cash in prize picks event in the flex play, which means you can still cash out if your lineup isn’t perfect. You can double your money even if your picks don’t hit. Well, I used one from Tuesday and I also put it with some picks on Sunday. You know how much I love basketball season. And I got RJ Barrett the more on 19 12 points. Well, guess what? On Tuesday, he finished with 23 points. So, we keep going on to Sunday. And I got Drake May the Moore on 236 and a half passing yards. And I got the more on Stefan Diggs, 54 and a half receiving yards. Give me the more on both. And you can make a lineup just like that one. Hopefully, it hits. But you got to download the app today and use code cls to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. That’s code cls to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. Prize picks. It’s good to be right. All right, my first loser. And people might be thinking, Brett, he should be a winner. He didn’t get traded. Well, you saw my hype piece about Braden Swinson literally probably two minutes ago watching this. Well, Anthony Jennings is one of my losers. And the Patriots, they’ve been shopping him for months. We saw it in August when they put him and Kyle Duggar on the trade block. Well, Jordan Schultz, he came out with another report on Monday and said the Patriots are in buying mode, but one player they’re shopping is Anthony Jennings and talked about how he started 30 games over the past two seasons, has not been a fit under this new staff. Well, since Afford Jennings has been on the trade block and he really hasn’t played this season, I thought that would have been best for him if he just got a new fresh start on a new team because he has not been good with the Patriots. He has not fit the specific type of scheme for Mike Frabel and he hasn’t even played that much in all the games that he’s played this season, which is probably all nine of them. I got to make sure. I’m pretty sure he was inactive for one of those games. 93 snaps. like he’s been active for most of the games. 93 six tackles, one tackle for loss and one sack. He it’s just not a good fit for Anthony Jennings. Now, if you want to be a part of a good team, sure, it’d be cool if you’re going to be a good teammate, but I thought that he would probably be wanting to get a fresh start, something like Keon White had with the 49ers. Get to that new start with a new team, get an eskee. He’s most likely just going to sit the bench now and that’s okay. That’s fine. But I thought it would have been best for him if he was traded away to a team where that could have used him. Maybe not been a good team, but somebody where he’s going to get playing time and earn that contract that he probably will get at some point from another team that’s not the New England Patriots. My second loser, it’s Elliot Wolf. And I know it’s not up to him completely, but he’s a loser in my book because every single person on Patriots Twitter, every single Patriots fan is just a little mad that they did not make a trade. And I was wrong. I thought that he was going to make a move. And at this point, and I know in the chat, Mr. Snoopy, the guy who tunes into every single live show, he’s been telling me that he’s not in charge. I feel like, yeah, I’m starting to agree with you. I feel like the trust has been put in Mike Frabel’s eyes and that one person stretch that everybody talks about deep down in the depths of the Patriots uh staff and then Ryan Coden. I think those three guys have the most kind of say with this. Elliot Wolf obviously is general manager and he gets the final say, but I think the influence that he has is not what it has been before. And this is random speculation. I’m not saying that I know anything. I don’t know anything. I don’t know. Quote Mike Greenberg. He’s like, I don’t know anything. I don’t know things. I don’t have any sources. I don’t. I would not be surprised though if Elliot Wolf is not a part of this Patriot staff after this season. I think they want to move forward. Elliot Wolf has been with the Patriots since the Bellich days. And we know that coming in with this new entire coaching staff that Mike Frabel wants to put in his own system. And I don’t think that Elliot Wolf fits that system going forward into next season. Just some random speculation. Not saying it’s going to happen, but that’s just my guess. I’ll ask you guys, what do you think? Is he going to be on the New England staff next year? Give me an F for fired, or it might be a mutual parting of ways, or give me a K for keep down in the comments section. I don’t know. But I don’t think he’s I I I would say no. I don’t think he’s going to be a part of this anymore. And we’ll see. We’ll find out. But we got the season going on this week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. If you want to keep the conversation going, talking about Elliot Wolf, talking about the New England Patriots, go ahead and give me a follow on social media at there alper on both Twitter and on Instagram. Go hit me with a follow. And as always, let’s go Pats. [Music]
The New England Patriots went radio silent ahead of the NFL Trade Deadline by making zero moves to bolster their roster as they make a Playoff push in the 2025 NFL Deadline. The Patriots are currently 7-2 and were rumored to be buyers at the trade deadline, but settled with the roster they currently have. There are multiple winners after the NFL Trade Deadline including Terrell Jennings as the Patriots never made moves for another running back. While Eliot Wolf is a loser because he is really in charge of the Pats as de facto GM. Brett Alper recaps the deadline and gives the rest of his winners & losers on this latest New England Patriots YouTube video.

What is this love for Jalen Phillips?
He was injury prone before & after being drafted into the NFL.
N WE build in the draft. Cap space allows extensions. We are still building
Desperate way – give a bunch of future picks away for a chance to win now OR The Patriot way – hang on to your picks and build another dynasty.
I don’t know
I think this was a great move by the Patriots. Why make some desperate deals when this team is not desperate. The Patriots management and coaching staff are building a dynasty not a short term fix.
