They lost to the Spurs, lost to the Lakers, got a clutch big win against the Clippers on the second night of a back-to-back on Monday and close out the road trip in a place they have not won since November 30th of 2016. Yes, you heard that correctly. The Heat have not beat the Nuggets in Denver in the regular season since 2016. Can that get snapped tonight? And with the win, Miami would go two and two on a road trip featuring games against four winning basketball teams and return back to Miami with a winning record. It would just be an absolute massive win for Miami. I labeled the win on Monday against the Clippers massive. This one would be double that to finally exercise your demons and get a win in Denver, but also go two and two and get to five and three again. Yeah, that’ll play big time, folks. So, everybody’s still rocking with the Heat, still feeling confident in our squad pulling out the victory, which is respectful. I mean, listen, if I’m going to be honest, I don’t think the Heat win this game because I have to be proven wrong in terms of our ability to win in Denver. We haven’t done it in nine years in the regular season. So, I’ll just always pick against us because I think you have to. But once they get a win, be big time stuff here, man. Big time stuff. Is Casperis making his debut? Casper Yakonis, the Heat’s first round pick, is available to play for the first time tonight. Do I anticipate him playing? No, I do not. I am just curious to see how many minutes he gets going forward, though, because Miamiy’s rotation is kind of set right now. They’ve been playing good ball with DaVon, Larson, Powell, Wiggins, Bam in the starting lineup. Hakez, Yovic, Drew Smith, Bontekeio, Wear coming off the bench. But that’s 10 guys right there. So, are they gonna play 11 by getting Casperis in there? I just think probably not. I mean, will Yakonis get in the rotation at some point this year? You probably hope so and project that, but I don’t see Eric Spolster replacing Drew Smith because he’s been really valuable off the bench defensively. So it’s like where is Yakonis’ play time gonna be coming from? Oh and by the way the Heat are still without Tyler Hero. So it’s like when he comes back I got to be honest like the Heat’s guard rotation is pretty log jammed right now. Like you have got five guys. Can all of them play? Hero when fully healthy? Hero, DaVon, um Smith, Larson, Casperis. Where do they all play? Powell. Like it’s just hard man. It’s hard like this Heat bench has been such a difference maker to start the year. You can’t really justify not playing any of them and you can’t justify not playing anyone in the starting lineup. So, it’s like if you’re bringing Casper into the rotation, who are you replacing? And the same thing has to be said about Tyler Hero. Like when Hero comes back, Hero will play, he will start, but who gets replaced? Like probably at this point you should replace Pel Larson in the starting lineup and do a DaVon Hero Powell Bam and Wiggins. So maybe Larson when Hero comes back doesn’t get a lot of minutes but hard to justify that as well with how good he’s played. Like it’s going to be tough. It’s going to be tough. I don’t envy Eric Spolstra’s job. Excuse me. I mean I think Eric Spolstra has done a phenomenal job through the first seven games of the year. I don’t envy the decisions that he will have to make in the next month when players start returning from injury because the Heat are playing good basketball right now and it’s hard to want to change anything because they have been playing so good. All right, as we get closer and closer to tip off, though, what do y’all think the biggest key to victory is today for Miami? When I’m looking at this game, the Nuggets have just been such a force this season. Four and two, playing really good basketball. Um, I it is just going to be tough. They’ve got so much firepower. Aaron Gordon, Jamal Murray, Joic, Cam Johnson. There are two losses this year in the opener to the Warriors and then also to the Trailblazers by two. They destroyed the Suns, Timberwolves, Pelicans, and they won by six against the Kings on Monday. It’s a such a good team. They really have no weaknesses. Like I think like if you’re asking for the biggest key here, you just got to hit your shots. Like I know that’s crazy to say, but you got to light them up from three and not really turn the ball over. Like if you give the Nuggets the three-point shooting advantage and you turn it over, you stand absolutely no chance. So my key is certainly keeping the basketball in your position, no turnovers, and obviously turnovers are going to happen, but limit them. And certainly you got to have a good day from beyond the ark. Certainly got to have a good day from beyond the arc. Can’t really double Joic in the paint. I mean, Joic is going to get his. Bam has done historically one of the best jobs in the NBA in guarding Joic, but I mean, you can’t count on Bam for slowing him down because he is just simply put the best player in the NBA by a wide margin. Those two gamers has defense a good pace. I am concerned about the pace today. Listen, this is the final game of a four-ame road trip. Miami played a back-toback on Sunday, Monday, and now you go to the Denver elevation. I’m concerned that this team isn’t going to be able to play at the pace that they have been able to play at early in the year. But also, maybe the Heat and Eric Spolstra combat that by having a larger rotation today. Maybe we do see Casper Yakonis and less Davian Mitchell and Drew Smith because of the the um elevation. Maybe the Heat have a more wellbalanced rotation tonight rather than playing their starters 33 34 minutes. Maybe it’s like the starters play 28 minutes and the bench plays like 20 22 minutes instead of 33 and 18. I mean that’s certainly a possibility. That’s certainly a possibility. The Nuggets are the number one offensive team in the NBA in points per game. The Heat are third. They’re both top five in field goal percentage, top six in fast break points, and top six in paint points. So, two high octane offenses. This game should be high scoring. I guess that’s why the overunder wasund or 241, which is craziness for a Heat game to be that high, but I mean, got to be honest, that’s that’s where it’s got to be nowadays. He’d score almost 115 a night. I can’t believe it. It’s nice to be here, but I I’m stunned. I’m stunned. Who when is Hero returning? I think he’s targeting November 17th against the Knicks. Maybe November 19th against the um Warriors. Uh both those games on Prime Time, I believe. National TV Monday and Wednesday. Um, that’s what I would probably anticipate. We’ll see though. We’ll see. Hopefully, he returns sooner rather than later because I do believe the Heat would be even a better team. I know there’s been some concern out there on if he’s going to mess up the flow of the offense because he is someone who plays with a lot of screens. I think he’s too good of a player and shooter and scorer not to have a positive impact when he returns to the lineup. So, I I hope he does. I hope he does. I hope he does, man. Well, Larson and getting another start. Keep going with Larson, DaVon Mitchell, Wiggins, Norman Powell, and Bam Abio for the second straight game. KL Larson has been starting in place of Norman Powell, but Powell returned to the court on Monday and Larson remained a starter with Khal Wear going to the bench. And I think that was the right decision if I’m going to be honest. I just think it is. I think it is. It’s late on the East Coast. It is a 900 pm tip. It’s insane, man. Insane. Like, if they lose the game today, it will officially be a decade since they won in Denver in the regular season because they won’t play in Denver in the regular season again until 2026. So Norman Powell, who has six points already in two triples, is going to go to the line for three to potentially get up to nine points in the first quarter. Doesn’t look like the Nuggets will challenge this call. So three free throws coming here for Powell. Powell gets the friendly roll and gets the first one to go. He has been elite for Miami offensively this year. been a real difference maker when on the court. Peter says, “Why didn’t you go live against the Spurs, Lakers, and Clippers? If they could win both those games and go six and four in their first 10 games without Hero. I mean, that would be a spectacular start to the year considering how tough their schedule was. I said I would be fine with five and five. So, split those two games. I’m I’m not the most upset in the first 10 games of the year, but I mean, I’m kind of getting greedy. I think this team could easily win those two games. They should absolutely beat the Hornets on Friday, regardless of if they have Bamin Abio or not. They should be able to. Portland on Saturday was a different conversation, but we’ll ultimately have to see what Bameio’s injury status will be when we get updates maybe tomorrow. hopefully. But that’s final.
