[David Vassegh] During the benches-clearing incident in Game 7 of the WS, the player who chirped the most was Blue Jays closer Jeff Hoffman. Multiple Dodgers veterans screamed at Hoffman saying, “You don’t want to get in this game.”

  3. It’s interesting hearing this and seeing how Blake Snell kept his mouth shut after Rojas hit the HR knowing that he had to go back out there.

  11. I mean… even if this is true. He is a closer in the MLB, during game 7 of the World Series in which he was looking likely to pitch. He’s naturally going to be cocky as hell. Probably used it to get amped up. 

    Hell, I’m a nobody who was 8 beers deep and was chirping some mad shit from section 535.

  19. You need confidence to close in the majors. I don’t know how this is even a discussion point. Pre game cockiness is one thing but players get amped up during games and especially during high tension moments of the game. Both teams SHOULD have bravado even if it’s guaranteed that one side will lose.

  21. The stories about this game are going to continue to come out for years. Questionable decisions, in-fighting, etc. Interviews, books, and podcasts from players, coaches, clubhouse attendants, etc. will all offer different POV into the collapse, reopening the wound over and over again.

    How do I know this?

  23. Jeff Hoffman led the world in home runs allowed for a reliever, had a -1.0 WAR from May-onwards, and gave up a game tying home run to a utility infielder with no pop in Game 7 of the World Series when his team was 2 outs away from winning it all.

    This dude is not allowed to talk shit on the field for at least 12 months.
