[NHL Rumour Report] Frank Seravalli: We haven’t gotten any indication from Alex Tuch or his camp…that this is a player that’s willing to take a hometown discount; I’ve heard whispers that is a player that could be stretching close to or asking for a $10m AAV – Canucks Central (10/3)

  1. $10m AAV is a lot different than $12m AAV. I’d give him $10m/8 yrs, but I’m not doing $12m/8 yrs.

  2. Why take a hometown discount when the team hasn’t made the playoffs in 15 years and the owner shows to be an unserious person?

  3. Even if it all works out, it feels like a letdown that the deal hasn’t come close to being struck at this point. Can’t blame Tuch at all. He’s a gamer and wants to see progress from an organization that has struggling to show the slightest semblance of that for years. I say pay him what he wants and deal with the ramifications of the deal down the road.

  4. Then just fucking pay the man. Let’s get this behind us so he can continue to lead this team.

  5. Before the season I’d say yea pay him but haven’t seen much in these first 13 games that make him a 10 million dollar player.

  6. Why would he take a home town discount? The purpose of taking a discount is so the team can fit more talented players on the roster. We don’t even spend to the cap, so the savings would just go back to Pegula.

  7. In the current situation even being willing to consider re-signing here ***is*** the hometown discount.

  8. Score some goals then. I know it’s been a grind and hard to play for this team but don’t shoot high on a 3 on 1

  9. Minnesota wants a scoring winger. Get on the phone and work on a trade centered around Rossi for Tuch. Throw in a prospect or mid round pick

  10. This dipshit owner pays skinner $9 mil no questions asked, but is dragging his feet on giving the heart and soul of our team $11 when the cap is exploding. Embarrassing.

  11. Tuch has the leverage right now.

Not much talk about what we are doing to make him feel like we want him here.

What’s odd about that is we hear a lot from the Sabres Brass that “ we want players that want to be here”.

It is a 2 way street.

  12. The good news is we only have Josh Norris on the books for 8 million per year for 4 more years, Jeff Skinner on the books for 2.5 for 4 more years, and UPL on the hook for 4.75 for 3 more years.

But lets start getting stingy with the most complete player on our team.
