Wemby’s stats with and without Dylan Harper

  1. Obviously this is a small sample size, and I think this is largely a function of him being out our two worst games. With that said, I do think Castle has looked a little overmatched at PG. He is such a good secondary creator and connector, but he does not seem equipped to be the primary driver of an offense at times. The turnovers and stagnation are really a problem. Especially with how hard he has to work on defense. I am very excited to see him lined up next to Fox.

  2. Wemby is going to be more productive with a point guard on the floor. It generally improves spacing and opens up the lob threat more.

  3. Wemby isn’t a slasher at this point in his career and probably never will be. Although fast for his size, he’s still not fast enough to get around faster smaller players and risk getting a charge called. His drives are usually limited to when he gets a defender in the air (I think defenders will learn NOT to try to jump for a contest) or in transition

His main advantage is going to be turning and shooting over defenders and as a lob threat. Imagine if he played with someone who threw lobs with the accuracy and timing of Luka. As he builds muscle, he will become a low post threat, although players getting underneath him will always be a problem. I think if he simply developed his midrange game to just turn and shoot over his defender, it would be the most unstoppable play in the NBA.

With that being said, most of this advantages can be optimized with a point guard that can create their own gravity (such as Fox).

  4. This team is super banged up. Sochan, Fox, Harper, Kelly O, Kornet all out or not playing at 100%. But still good. Positive sign.

  5. I hope we get to see a lineup of wemby sochan vassell/champagnie castle and harper. That’s gotta be the future right?
