‘To Be Unselfish’ – Chiefs vs. Commanders Preview w/ Xavier Worthy | Defending The Kingdom

Chiefs go back to the prime time stage this week, but hosting Monday Night Football this time as they’ll host the Washington Commanders, who make their first visit to the kingdom since 2017. But the Chiefs just might be the epitome right now of unselfishness and an example for all professional sports teams. Of course, defending the kingdom is always brought to you by your good friends at Ticketmaster. Reed Humphrey snaps it to Mahomes at his hip. Now Mahomes goes over the middle. P touchdown Kansas City. Weapons everywhere. Hi everyone. I’m Mitch Holtus, voice of the Chiefs along with senior team reporter Matt McMullen. This is the salute to service uh game as the Chiefs will entertain the commanders on Monday Night Football. The theme of this podcast will be unselfishness to be unselfish. And I can’t think of any better example of women or men being unselfish than those who serve us in all of the branches. And it’s why we like to highlight it every year. We were one of the leaders uh to get the NFL started in this. So many major uh military installations for the world are within an hour and a half of where we sat. But uh really we can’t start in selfishness without talking about our women and men in service. Yeah, the NFL is awesome because it gives us this incredible platform to lift up the things that are really important in the world. uh and uh embracing and thanking and honoring our men and women in uniform who make all of this possible is so important. We do that every single day, but it’s cool the NFL devotes an entire month to it. And in this case, Monday Night Football for us is our salute to service game. Uh very cool opportunity. You’ll be seeing cool stories throughout the week about our incredible military. And uh you’re right, I’m glad we started off with that because that’s the most important thing with all of this. If we didn’t have them, we couldn’t do what we do. You know, Chris McGawan, he was our host. along with Sherah at West Point. But Chris uh this is the epitome of this. I’ll just give you an example. Uh his daughter was getting ready to start her senior year of high school. And um then basically the night before she was going to start, he had to leave for another deployment uh then to Afghanistan. And we sat on his front lawn and we prayed prayed Psalm 91. But I thought what an act of unselfishness of his service. He’s going to miss his daughter’s entire senior year. And to do it to serve all of us, I mean, is just it was an example that blew me away. Yeah, the sacrifices are just incredible. Uh when we were at West Point a few weeks ago, uh and seeing the 17 and 18 year olds who are devoting their lives to service, I was thinking about how I wouldn’t last about 10 seconds at West Point. Um watching what those individuals put themselves through. Uh they do it to help people they’ve never met before. And that’s really really cool. Uh something that like 1% of 1% of people are able to do and willing to do. And again that was such a cool experience for us to kind of see that in person and to see you know the future generations uh of our military who are stepping forward to defend us so we can talk about football. I appreciate them. And I’m going to give a shout out here because I love the way our franchise dives into this and has for over a decade. Kale Kirby in our equipment department deserves big mention here because he instead of just like getting NFL gear and oh we’ll put it on and we’ll mention the military. Kale takes it to a whole another level for years and years and years. He’s used his imagination, his research and his passion. Like this year it is the 250th anniversary of the Army, the Navy, and the Marines. Our guys are going to wear patches. the guys will choose what branch they want to wear in their um salute to service warm-up. And so there are patches representing the United States Army, the United States Navy, and and the Marine Corps. And so you’ll see guys with different patches. Uh and that’s because of Kale. Kale’s just uh he’s amazing this and every year kind of collaborate with him or or at least just get his feeling. Uh but his imagination in this has just been great. So, Kale, big props to you. And you are unselfish along with everybody else in that equipment department, but especially during salute to service week. All right. Um, let’s go around the world. We’ll get on our unselfish uh time machine and zip around the earth. Let’s do it. So, I have 12 today. I feel like we had a few weeks there where I only had a couple, but I have 12 today plus announcements. Yes. For Jared Wy. Hopefully, we see Jared later this year. Um, we have a listener in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Hopefully I pronounced that correctly. listen to a YouTube video for the pronunciation. Looks like a beautiful place. Uh we have a listener in Sophia, Bulgaria. Yeah, I think it’s our first person in Bulgaria. Um they’re originally from KCK. Uh and they were an STM for 20 years now in Bulgaria. Very cool. Uh we have a listener in Columbia, Missouri. Represent. Uh we have a listener in the 514. Montreal. Montreal. We’ve activated the 514. I think everyone in Montreal liked what they saw from the 514 on Sunday. You can join the Kingdom bandwagon. Uh we heard from both of us heard from Ross from Airshshire Scotland. Yep. Via email. Uh we’ve heard from Ross before. Uh but this was a big weekend for him because he packed up his whole family in Scotland. They came over here to watch Chiefs and Raiders. Uh so shout out to Ross, Allison, Rule, and Byron. I hope you had a great time. You picked the perfect game to come to. What an awesome day here in Kansas City. Uh Zach is in southern Oregon. His area code is 541. So, kind of close. If we just move them around a little bit. Hang in there, Zach. We might get to you. We might. Um Lee had a good point. Uh he said, “Don’t all Kansas social security numbers uh begin with 514?” Which I don’t I don’t know the answer to that. Maybe they do. That would not be true, but that’s okay. Let’s just, you know, go ahead and think that if you want. We’ll throw darts the dart board there. We appreciate it. Lee, um Kimberly is in Reading, Pennsylvania. Uh you’ll like this one. Okay. Uh, I met Josh on the field on Sunday. Uh, he works game day security for us. So, he went to Centriia High School, which you have a history with, obviously. Kansas. Yeah. Oh, well, he had to remind me of that. The Panthers. Centroia Panthers. I know so many families in that area. Great high school football. And snapped the Smith Center winning streak. The 79game winning streak. Longest. Yeah. No, it’s fumble in overtime. Well, but the top two running backs were hurt, but that’s okay. We won’t No excuses. Way to go. Well, okay. There’s John Rigggins Hut School, right? John John Rigggins went there. And he mentioned that to me. He also said, “Didn’t Cria beat Smith Center the last time, too?” So, they Yeah, it was a 40 mph wind from the north. Not that I remember and they had like an 80 yard punt. They were down kicking from their own end zone and the ball went like this high above the ground. Way to go. Actually, Centrea, you’re fueled by Corning. Corning Lions carried that team. That’s a whole another matter. Yep. Well, anyway, he brings all this up because he informed me that Axel, you remember Axel Eagles. Yeah. So, they had a 58-game winning streak that was snapped. Snapped by the handover Wildats. Yep. Yep. So, he uh he thought that you would be interested in this. Obviously, you already know. Keep the 79 game. So, another one is Andale down near Witchah. They had their streak broken two years ago. They were steamrolling toward the 79. The cool thing is I love Axel. It’s a great area. Great families there, too. But the odometer goes to zero. Yeah. He goes, “So, Smith Center still got the 79 there.” And, uh, got to remind the Centrea folks, they got, I think, four state titles. Smith Center has 10. That’s okay. You know, who’s keeping track? So, we can do this all day if you want. So, are you guys like the undefeated Dolphins where you pop champagne whenever a school loses their winning streak. You can’t smell it on my breath. Okay. I love it. Um, anyway, love Axel. Just didn’t want you to break it. Oh, zero. Yeah. Yeah. Josh thought you’d like that. We heard from John and Darby in Witchah. We’ve heard from them before, but they wanted to shout out their brother-in-law Trevor and their sister Danielle. They’re holding down the fort behind enemy lines in Indian Hills, Colorado. Uh Trevor was also uh in the same high school class as Leo Chanel. So, small world. Um we’ve uh a Grantsburg Pirate, I guess. So, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. How about that? Love it. I love that it’s the Grantsburg Pirates in the middle of Yeah. What’s the What’s the tiein for the pirates in northwest Wisconsin? Yeah, like I suppose they have lakes, but are there pirates on lakes? I don’t know. St. Croy River. Yeah, we’ll have to look into that. Uh we’ve mentioned Larry from Delaware before. Uh but we had a chance to actually meet Larry. So sometimes uh those that listen will come down uh in the front row in front of our pregame show on game day a couple hours before the game uh and say hi. And that was Larry this week. Uh so great meeting you, Larry. So we didn’t know this about him. uh he was in the Pentagon on 911 and he he informed us of that um and gave us these awesome coins kind of commemorating uh the incredible sacrifice by the first responders that day uh to save a bunch of lives at the Pentagon. So, thank you, Larry. It was an honor to meet you. Thank you for giving uh these to us. This will be uh displayed proudly in our offices. So, thank you, Larry. Uh it was great meeting you. Uh then, shout out to KK, Bren, and Annabelle. Um their parents, Matt and Megan, as well. Uh they’ve been making us friendship bracelets over the last year or so. Um we’ve got a bunch of them over the last uh couple years. Uh but based on the results from the game on Sunday, I don’t think I can ever take this one off. So, thank you guys. I wore this the whole game and you know, it was just one of the most dominant performances in NFL history. So, I’m going to keep this thing on for the rest of the season. Uh couple shout outs as well. Um and some news here. So, Red Friday, everyone of course knows about Red Friday. We have our flag right here. Uh we are excited to announce that uh Red Friday flag sales raised a million dollars for the Ronald McDonald House of Kansas City. I mean that’s incredible. That is so cool. A million dollars to help people that are going through uh the worst times in their life. Um and for people to go out to McDonald’s or Hi and to buy some flags and show their support for the Chiefs and put them up in their their house or wave them out in front or whatever. uh to put that money towards something that is so important like helping these families that have children in the hospital. Super super cool. So, a million dollars going right back into our community. Um that’s why this area is the absolute best. Uh and with that in mind, uh this weekend is also our Toys for Tots game. So, speaking of salute to service, right, uh Toys for Tots is a super cool program put on by the Marines where uh basically they take toys and gifts from people um around the area and they repurpose those for uh kids in need. You can help this out by either bringing new or unused toys uh to the game on Monday night. There’ll be bins all around the stadium. Or check out chiefs.com/ community/toys for tots and there’s all information on there. You can see kind of where the donation bins are. Um you can donate online if you’d like and there’s more information about where these toys are going. So chiefs.com/ community/toys for tots. And that is my final announcement for today. And you’ll see some of our players wearing the Marine 250 year commemoration patch. Some of our guys will be wearing United States Navy, same. And some wearing the United States Army patch. All right. I got a few around the world. Something has happened now. Three straight home games. And I’m not making this up. This is not made up. I don’t know if they’re waiting for when I walk in the stadium. I get in about five hours before kickoff. Okay. Yeah. And so there’s a few people walking around the concourse. This has happened now three times in a row. Somebody from around the world is there. So this pass game waiting there from Schwitzenberg Schwitzenberg Austria. Robert and Jasmine Metsler. Oo okay. And they’re like hey like hey hey how’s it going? You’re that guy. You’re that guy. You and Matt are those guy. And so shout out to the Austrians but it’s been three home games in a row. Somebody from a foreign country has been right there. H coincidence or not? Um then around the world’s really taken off. It’s taking off. Then um Steve Cobb, I was in the pro shop on Friday of last week. Steve Cobb from Buffalo was in there having the time of his life along with his family, Beth and Emily. They live in Buffalo and they’re ardent Chiefs fans defending the Kingdom Defenders. And I thought, man, talk about behind enemy lines. They plant the flag every day in Buffalo. Do they have like a compound that they live within? I think so. I think they’ve got some of our military helping uh protect them. I don’t know. Maybe the wire it’s uh I just found that awesome. And then same day I just w I walked five more feet and Adam and Anel Sandival from Pearland, Texas were there. So we have this pilgrimage now of people that come from all over the world to come to home games. And another phenomenon that has happened now three weeks in a row has been Germans. German folk have they stay over I the last three Chiefs Kingdom shows on Monday night or Tuesday night depending on when the game is it’s always the night after a game last Monday night we had 14 people from Germany 14 from Col I’m trying I’m trying to think of all the communities um it near Cologne it it was uh amazing so uh 14 Germans there were like eight the week before they’ll come to the game and they stay for the kingdom show and chop it up any Ryan fire jerseys uh Well, they were from some were from Dusseldorf. Yeah. And that’s the home of the Ryan Fire. Didn’t have any jerseys on, but the There was this one guy that made bobbleheads uh for people. It was It was It was awesome. Okay. Wow. How about that? Yeah. We’re not even into football yet. No. Uh it’s been like 17 minutes. That’s okay. It’s all good. Uh we’ll just mention this before we get to Xavier Worthy. Uh and and he’s perfect uh because he’s a great example of unselfishness. what we saw because you and I got asked on uh publicly and privately. Uh and is it reading, Pennsylvania, by the way? Probably reading. It is. Yeah, it’s reading P. We have we have a resident Pennian in here for pronunciation. Yeah, I went to Strazburg, but he was I could see him fidgeting and like he’s you know, it’s like Tony Reali on PTI. Like he called it reading Pennsylvania. It’s reading you Now I know. So anyway, don’t Yeah. Pennsylvania. We got it right. Anyway, and there’s a reading Kansas too. Really? Oh yeah. spelled the same way. spelled the same. Wow. I’m reading Reading, Kansas. Um, part of the communities that make up the Northern Heights Wildcats. That’s a whole another matter. All right. Unselfishness, the win against the Raiders. There’s so many storylines there, but to me, the biggest was nine different players caught passes and uh the fact that people, hey, there’s only one football to go around, right? Who’s how you going to keep everybody happy? I don’t think anybody was unhappy after the Raider game. Look at a fact like uh our guy like Taekwon Thornton had one target, one catch, oh it was 39 yards or Noah Gray, one target, one catch for 28 yards. And Xavier Worthy fits right in here because this is a guy on some other teams that may have oh 10 targets but in this and he might have 10 against the Commanders. We don’t know. But the fact that this team right now is so unselfish on on all three phases is why we’re focusing on this show with that because that is going to be a key to the rest of the season. Have you picked up on the everybody’s got to eat thing that’s kind of bubbled up? This is cool. This is why Chief’s Kingdom is the best because this like started as like a grassroots thing where I would just see it like on Chief’s Twitter like people saying everybody’s got to eat or EG. Uh, and now we’re seeing it like come to fruition and all the players have embraced it. And that’s like the best way to describe this receiver core right now because they don’t care who gets the ball, they just want to win. And when Hollywood catches the ball for a touchdown, everyone’s excited for him or she obviously when he comes back after not having him for a calendar year. He has two touchdowns, uh, seven catches in that game against the Raiders. Everyone’s fired up for him. But then Taekquin, yeah, keeps running these deep routes, opening things up for everyone underneath. Then he gets his one catch later in the game. Everyone’s fired up for him. It’s very cool. And think about like we have a lot of players in this receiver core that either at the pro level or the college level were at one point the guy on their offense, right? I mean, think about Hollywood Brown, a first round pick uh was a number one receiver uh in Baltimore for a number of years. Same thing in Arizona. Well, he is content being part of this core here with the Chiefs. Xavier Worthy, number one receiver for the Texas Longhorns, first round pick in the draft. Like a guy who is going to be like a number one receiver in the NFL. He’s content being part of this crew. Taekwon Thornton was a former second round pick. Had the fastest 40-yard dash time at the combine. Like he’s content being part of this group. I can go on and on. Juju Smith Schustster was in the league at like 20 years old as a number one wide receiver. All these guys want to be part of this group, right? Uh and that’s a really cool thing to see and it’s working. Um because the Chiefs since week four lead the NFL in yards per game uh with over 400. The Chiefs are the only team in the league to score at least 28 points in each of the last four weeks. Think about that. I mean, this offense is taking off right now and it’s because of the unselfishness in the wide receiver core and the tight end group as well. Uh and what a season from Patrick Mahomes as the point guard of this whole thing. Can we just get the MVP campaign going? uh because he currently through week seven leads the NFL in total offensive touchdowns and he’s only firing up from here. Yeah, but you don’t hear him talked about um everybody else. We’ll talk about it though. But it’s it’s it’s really kind of poetic in this episode of Defending the Kingdom to bring in a guy like Xavier Worthy who is again is a great example of an unselfish football team. Xavier Worthy with us on the podcast. This theme X is about being unselfish and just the fact of how unselfish everybody has to be right now for this offense to just skyrocket, right? What about being unselfish? I mean, shoot, we got so many guys that could go out there and make a play. And I feel like everybody feels like they could they want to do their part and contribute to the team. And I feel like that’s where it comes in and where one guy gets the high hand and you let him go and one day one day you have your day where you you get hot. So you just got to stay patient. That’s where the unselfish part comes in with this offense. After like a year and a half of waiting, you finally got to play with Hollywood and Rasheed at the same time. How much fun was that? Well, I mean we only played three quarters, so I mean it kind of kind of explained everything. So I mean that’s what we asked for. Like I said in the mic in when I was miked up, I was like this is what we asked for. So, I mean, 310-0 third quarter, I mean, could have asked for nothing. But I want to ask you about the miked up. It was so awesome because it looked like you were having so much fun. Yeah. It was like you were 10 years old again and we’re playing pickup ball. How much fun was that? I mean, it’s always fun like you see us out there in practice like we laugh, joke, make handshakes, uh, dance around. So, that’s really what it kind of felt like. And then like having guys like Rasheed back feel like having having Rashid back in the building. I mean, he’s like our brother. Like coach our coach um Reed said, we’re super close. So just having him back out there was fun. So speaking of the miked up, you kind of talked about the the chief wave. Is that what we’re calling it now? Yeah, we going to call it the chief wave. Yeah. So I’ve had like multiple people in my life before the miked up asking what is Xavier doing? Like where is this coming from? How’d that start? The crazy part is I didn’t even know what to do for a celebration and I got up and just did that. Okay, that look kind of cool. I’m going to keep doing it. And everybody was like what’s that? I’m like shoot I don’t know. I just did it. I think it’s pretty cool. It’s going to catch on as you know. I want to ask you Xavier though because I talk about your toughness. I say he’s Fresno tough. Um how much pride do you take into that? I said this guy’s like super strong pound-for-pound. What about people that maybe overlook that in making a tough catch, tough play or you got a block? I mean shoot just this game that uh came about like the Raiders game. I mean, I’m playing with a fully torn lab when I’m went up and high ball high point of the ball. So, I mean, it just kind of shows that I’m willing to go out there and give it all, give my all for the team. So, since you got back in week four, the offense has scored at least 28 points every single week. How much fun is the group having collectively just going out there and playing the ball? We kind of knew you guys could play, right? I mean, it feels like training camp. We go out there. I mean, this past game we had um coach uh Nag kind of said that we had a 19 play drive, a a 14play drive, a 13 play drive, and it was long drive drill. I mean, we’re tired, but I mean, we kind of did it in training camp. I mean, it felt like practice. So, once you go out there and get the repetition that you get in practice and carry it over to the game, it just it starts to get fun for you. Final question. Monday Night Football Commanders, now you got to back it up. You’ve learned in this league now to stack it up. Uh how excited are you about the Monday night game against the Commanders? I mean, yeah, the commanders are they’re a really good team. I mean, don’t let the past games fool you. I mean, they’re they’re a really good group as a as a unit. They showed it last year. So, just coming in with a mindset just continue to keep getting better, continue to grow as a team. Xavier Worthy just it’s just getting started, right? The wave get ready. So, again, a shout out there to Xavier and again being unselfish. You mentioned Hollywood. He had 16 targets in week one in Brazil against the Chargers. He had four last week, but whoa, whoa, whoa. Those four resulted in two catches and a touchdown. As I said on the air, he’s loving gargling the sweet nectar of the end zone. But I’m gonna throw the running backs in here as well. Yeah. Uh we can talk about the wide receivers and tight ends. Think about it. Kareem Hunt had 14 touches in the Baltimore game, but what about last week when Isaiah Pacheco had 15 touches, but he also had a touchdown against the Raiders. So the point here is this team is full of unselfishness. And I’ll even put it on the defense as well being the same way. And the fact that if this rocket ship is going to continue to move up and you and I anticipate it, it has to be you don’t know whose weak it’s going to be. And so I would advise you if you get frustrated on your fantasy team, don’t take a Chief, okay? Because who knows whose weak it’s going to be. But for reality football and winning football right now, the Chiefs, I think, are the epitome. If you’re an NBA team, you want to study us. If you’re in, I don’t care, an NHL team or an MLB team, study us cuz so many guys, so many gals, so many uh agents can get caught up in stats. You got to get targets and catches. I need to get endorsements. Let’s get and that does not work in the hallways of this place. Eight different players for the Chiefs on Sunday had at least 14 receiving yards that matched the most for uh any team in a single game this year. I mean, that kind of tells the story right there. This team is so hard to defend right now because finally the offense that we’ve been talking about for like a year and a half, we saw it on Sunday and it’s pretty good. And to see it humming like that, I get it. The Raiders defense has been struggling, but still, this offense is super super exciting. I can’t wait to see where it goes from here. And you’re right, I think it stems from an unselfishness uh at its core because nobody really cares who’s getting all the numbers as long as the team is winning. And it’s fun to talk about these stats at the very end because it’s not like one or two players is driving the whole thing. Like the guys have been saying, everybody’s eating in this offense and it’s fun to watch. Defensively, it’s there as well. Chamari Connor was my guest on the Chiefs Kingdom show before we had the Mahomes Gala. It was a long Monday night, but the fact that uh Chamari, something’s very interesting about him. He’s he’s so willing to play special teams, he wants to do it. It’s very rare to see a player who’s second on tackles. He’s really close to Nick Bolton is usually the leader. Nick right now is at 55. Chamari’s at 47 tackles, but then that second or top five tackle leader usually isn’t at the top of the special teams tackle charts. And Chamari was leading in special teams tackles until Cooper McDonald had a awesome game and went ahead him by one. That is also being unselfish where you have first team guys on defense, even offense, but first team defensive players who are ready, willing, and able, and want to play special teams. And Matt, I’m telling you, in the National Football League, that is not always the case. Many guys will go, “No, I’m going to I’m going to save myself for defense. You’re not going to put me on teams.” Or even a sublime way in body language, don’t want it. Not with this with a squad. That’s really part of the magic of this team is it’s in all three phases. Yeah. really is. Can we talk about the defensive domination really quick? Sure. And how good it was on Sunday? Cuz I had to have some Three first downs. Three first downs. Three first downs. The Raiders had three first downs on Sunday. Uh it was the fewest for any team in a game since 2008. Uh the Falcons ironically held the Raiders to only three first downs in that game. You want to guess the quarterbacks in that game? Falcons and Raiders in 2008? No. Um man, no clue. Oh gosh. No. So for the Falcons, it was some rookie named Matt Ryan. Yeah. Turned out to be a pretty good player. Never heard of him. Uh the Raiders quarterback was Jammarcus Russell. Yep. Yep. Uh so that’s the last time a team had three first downs. Moral of the story in a game. If they send video home with you in whatever form it is, make sure you watch the video. You should you should watch the video. Do your homework. Um a team has only had three or fewer first downs in a game uh five times since 2000. So that doesn’t happen very often. As a result, the Raiders only ran 30 plays on Sunday. That was the second fewest plays in a single game in the Super Bowl era. The only team that ran fewer plays in the Super Bowl era in a game was the 1999 expansion Cleveland Browns in week one. So I’m not saying this to disparage the Raiders. I’m saying it because this was an incredible defensive performance by the Chiefs to stop a team that has some really capable players, guys like Ashton Genty in the back field. Well, the Chiefs completely shut them down. And this defense, I thought it was so cool that a week after shutting down Detroit like they did to hold the number one scoring offense in the NFL to only 17 points. They didn’t kind of start reading their own press clippings and say, “Hey, we’re really good.” They were fired up and ready for this game to the point where Las Vegas was truly never in it offensively. Three first downs is crazy. So, again, I’m fired up about this defense. And now going into week eight, it’s now the number three scoring defense in the NFL. And we mentioned it, there was such a vibe of getting Rashi back to play last week, but that vibe was also felt in the defensive hallway. Chamari actually verified that on the Chiefs Kingdom show. The Chiefs were this close being tied for first place in the AFC West. Give credit to the Denver Broncos of pulling that game out down 26 to8 with a remarkable fourth quarter comeback. But our eye on the West is Ari Wolf. Welcome everyone to week eight out west with Ari Wolf. It is my pleasure today to talk to the voices of the Chiefs defending the kingdom. We’ve got Mitch Holtis, the voice of the Chiefs. Matt McMullen. Gentlemen, great win for the Chiefs. It was nice to have a stressfree Sunday. 31 nothing Chiefs look great. It was awesome. It’s great to beat a division rival. Um but let’s get into the AFC West because that’s what we do on this part of the podcast. We start at the top of the division. We will start with the Denver Broncos who were held scoreless for three quarters, score 33 fourth quarter points. It was one of the more incredible fourth quarters I’ve ever seen. It had potential to be my game of the week, but if you had to watch the first three quarters, the fourth quarter didn’t make up for how terrible the first three quarters were. Uh Bo Nicks, two touchdown passes, two rushing touchdowns, all in the fourth quarter. That’s never happened before. Uh, it’s the most points ever scored after being shut out for three quarters in the history of the National Football League. Down 18 points with six minutes left. Somehow Bone Knicks and the Broncos get a win. They’re five and two. It was it was sort of gut-wrenching to watch. New York sort of fizzled us away, but I got to say that the Broncos are finding ways to win. They are going to be a tough out. Are they the cream of the crop in the AFC West? No. I think we know the Chiefs are that team. But what’s your takeaway, guys, from the way the Broncos keep finding ways to win? Well, first of all, it was strange being able to watch these games because we were home by like 3:45 on Sunday. Not only did we have a noon game, it also lasted like 2 hours and 50 minutes. So, I was watching this game and the Chargers game, which we’ll talk about in a minute, uh, kind of simultaneously. And in my brain, the Giants had the Broncos taken care of. like that game was over and the Chargers Colts one was the one that was still kind of up in the air. Uh and then yeah, somehow the Broncos find a way to score all these points in just six minutes. Uh I do give credit to the Broncos for finding ways to win these games. Uh this is three weeks in a row that they very easily could have lost and they found a way to win. Considering how the Chiefs have won games over the years, I’m not going to disparage that. That’s impressive. I do still have questions about the Broncos offense um and having to do that in the fourth quarter. like they put themselves in a position where they had to score a bunch of points in the fourth quarter. Uh but they figured it out and I’ll give them credit. They found a way. The Jackson Dart interception was the key with all of that. And you take that out, maybe it’s a different outcome, but I’ll give them credit. They found a way. Ari 1,608 teams in a row had leads of 18 or more in the fourth quarter and all won. That’s 168 and zero until this game. So give the Broncos credit. Uh even Shawn Peyton said it after the game, they’re one and six last year and they were one and six last year in one possession games, including our blocked field goal game. Uh but this year they’re 4-2. But that is six of their seven games or one possession games. Now let’s what’s the narrative here? Because last year for us it was oh my gosh, you can’t live that way. They’re not blowing anybody out. What’s going on? And for the Broncos, they’re just a gritty gutsy team. So it’s just a matter of anything like business, politics, or sports. It’s whatever narrative we want to present, but give them credit. They’re doing a great job. But I think we kind of did the same thing last year, but that’s another matter. All right, let’s go to the Chargers who are now tied with the Chiefs, but because the Chargers won in week one, they are the number two team currently in the AFC West. Uh they lose to the Colts 38-24. This Colts offense continues to just produce points every single week. I think you can make a compelling case right now that Shane Stiken is the leader for the coach of the year, that Daniel Jones is the leader for the comeback player of the year, and that Jonathan Taylor’s in the conversation for offensive player of the year or potentially even MVP. So, with all that said, the Chargers, more injuries, they are dealing, they have not had any luck when it comes to keeping their guys healthy. Herbert throws two more interception guys. That’s a total of six. That already doubles all the interceptions he threw a year ago. Uh, this is a team that’s now lost three or four games. The shine has come off the Chargers. Uh, this is a team that really wants to run the ball under Harbaugh. They’re throwing it a lot, but their offensive line’s banged up. It appears the Chargers are going in the wrong direction. Matt, what was your takeaway from the Colts and the Chargers? Yeah. Well, a quick note on the Colts. It’s crazy at this point in the year, we’re now seeing like either it’s traditional rankings or like advanced metrics that have the Colts offense up there with like the 2018 Chiefs and the 07 Patriots and the 2013 Broncos and I still can’t wrap my head around it. Um, but I mean I respect what they did against the the Chargers in this one because whenever the Chargers would answer, the Colts would just go right back down the field and score themselves. The Chargers could never get within arms length in this game. And I think you’re seeing the injuries catching up with the Chargers, particularly on their offensive line. I think Herbert’s the most pressured quarterback in the NFL right now, according to Pro Football Focus pressure metrics. Uh very difficult to move the football if you’re constantly under pressure. The real story here though for me is the Chargers defense. It’s surprising to me because this was a defense that was top five, top three scoring defense in the NFL last year. Started the season really well on defense, too. But they’ve allowed 27 or more points in three straight games now. And again, kind of watching the game on Sunday. I’m thinking, well, if the Chargers defense can make some plays, get a three and out, get a stop, and then Herbert can get the ball back and try to score. The Chargers can make a game of it. But the Chargers couldn’t get any stops defensively. And uh for me, kind of watching this Harbaugh iteration of the Chargers. That was surprising. I feel like the Colts this year are a are this week’s opponent that we’ve got, they’re the commanders of 24. Like they just burst onto the scene and like, wow, look at these guys. Um, and I’m I’m with Matt here. We can talk about Herbert. We can talk about being beat up on the offensive line. I think he’s two games over 500 in his career. And that’s something that has to be a long-term discussion that you don’t hear again on narratives, but it’s their defense. Now, their defense isn’t completely healthy either, but they’re getting run rough shot over and could not get a stop when they needed it. Some of that is the Colts, but how much of this is a mystery about the Chargers? You mentioned they have lost three of four. Their only win a 29-27 win over Miami. That’s it. Or otherwise they would have lost four um in a row. So uh right now the Chargers are trying to, you know, put it together with gray tape and bubble gum and glue. Well, look, they’ve got to play Thursday night against a Minnesota team that, you know, I want to bring up Carson Wentz because he was with the Chiefs last year as the backup. Uh he was highly touted coming out of North Dakota State. The thing about Carson Wentz is he does so many things great, but he’s just good enough to get you beat. He always makes a couple of just catastrophic mistakes. And I realize he was never really put in that position last year with the Chiefs, but you know, you look back at all the stops where he’s been, he shows flashes of brilliance. I think it makes a very compelling game for Thursday. It feels like a mustwin for the Vikings and for the Chargers. We’ll get to that in a moment when we get to that. But I I just the Carson Wentz thing is fascinating to me and I know you guys got to know him a little bit last year. Uh last week’s best game of the week all the way for me to Thursday night. Joe Flacco, Aaron Rodgers, the 240 plus guys. I mean, they balled out. It was a really entertaining game to watch the back and forth. You know, I know Cincinnati remains a threat when you think about Joe Burrow and if they can get into the postseason, they’re the last team to beat the Chiefs in the AFC. So, when I look at the Bengals with Joe Flack, I got to say it was fun to watch. If you could take away worrying about what the Bengals might be in three months, uh it was just a really fun game to see these two 40 plus year old guys sling it around. I thought in particular Flaco just he kept it simple, right? I felt like it was like he got with a bunch of wide receivers. They were in a sand lot and he’s like, “Look, I’ve got the best wide receiver out here on the field. I’m just going to get him the football by any means possible.” Uh I thought it was a ton of fun to watch the back and forth. 3331. I assume because it was Thursday night, hopefully you guys weren’t too busy. What’ you guys think of the Thursday night game? Well, first of all, this is only your favorite game cuz you’re like me. Matt’s just so young and you know, tender. This is You loved it because you’re going to the gym going, “I still got it. I got next.” You bet. And then with two torn Achilles like 10 minutes later, you’re like dragging yourself out of the gym. We all all of us who are older were like celebrating this game of like, hey, you can still quarterback a game when you’re 43 years old. But that was somewhat comical. But those guys did ball out. We got to talk about Flaco here being able to be accurate and at the third level of that offense. Yes, they’ve got weapons. We know that with Higgins and and Chase, but his accuracy, he just joined he’s trying to they’re making up stuff in the offense like he hasn’t he doesn’t have that playbook down memorized. So, we got to give props here to Flaco and what he’s doing with that team. I remember there’s just Yeah. Is there something so likable about Flaco? He seems like such a just a regular guy. Like, if you saw him at a bar, you’d sit down, you’d have a beer with him. Doesn’t he come across as just like the most downtoearth quarterback in the NFL? Well, he doesn’t get enough credit for how he’s been able to prolong his career because I remember in 2019 when he was on the Broncos, his career was basically over. It’s like, all right, this guy’s done. Like, he’s going to retire. and he had some good years with the Ravens, but he’s done. I mean, that was seven, eight years ago, and he’s now playing still at a high level, winning games in prime time. Uh, it’s really impressive. The most impressive thing uh from that game, though, and it was a fun game to watch overall, was Aaron Rogers somehow throwing it 70 yards in the air for that Hail Mary at the very end. Obviously, no one caught it, but still, I mean, that was incredible. I I figured at the point they were on the field, like he’ll get it to maybe like the opposing 25 or something, maybe the 20. He he got it there and that was the most impressive thing I thought from the night. The other thing about agree right in terms of throwing the Hail Mary, Aaron Rogers is the best of all time, right? I think he he’s got a handful of ones that, you know, have won games on Hail Marys or they’ve been, you know, at the half and I gota admit I didn’t think he could get it to the end zone on Thursday night. That throw just blew my mind. But what’ you think of it, Mitch? Well, no. I mean, he expects that to work. Like everybody else is watching it like there’s a 0003 probability this is going to work. and Aaron Rogers is going, “No, I’m done. I think I’ve got about 79% chance.” Uh, I mean, so you can see it when he launched it. To me, though, one of the comical things about the whole scenario with Flaco is the fact that Cleveland is now getting it put in their face. I know they won this week, but the poor Browns fans are now they have to deal with this of like you you’ve maybe salvaged the Bengals season. So, right, there’s not enough copay in the therapy for that that Browns fan base. Oh, that Browns fan base has been tortured. All right, I kind of jumped the gun a little bit getting to this week’s games. I got excited to talk about the Thursday night games and I want to get your guys’ take on it. You’ve got the Vikings who are a bit of a wounded team, but that defense at times can really create a lot of problems against a Chargers team that’s really banged up. Chargers haven’t been able to protect and you know coach Flores the defense coordinator from Minnesota can make life really challenging on a quarterback. I mean feel like they’ve got a you know sometimes seven or eight guys up on the line of scrimmage. What are your guys thoughts on the Thursday night game? I think Brian Flores might blitz 50 times in this game. That’s my thought process on it particularly with it being a Thursday nighter. U I don’t know. I just figure uh it’s going to be tough on this Chargers offensive line with all of their injuries uh against that Minnesota pass rush. On the other side though, you mentioned all the turnovers for Carson Wentz to Minnesota in recent weeks. They have at least two giveaways in each of their last three games. I think the Vikings have a really good shot in this game because of their pass rush and what they can do to the Chargers offense. But you can’t turn the ball over, particularly on the road uh and give Herbert a short field. So, if the Vikings can protect the football, I think they have a great shot, but they haven’t been able to do that in about a month now. So, we’ll see. I like Carson Wentz. I I like him and it was good to have him here last year. He had no shot in that week 18 game we had against the Broncos. But it’s it’s making the critical mistake. And here’s let’s go back to the gym and saying I still got it. Uh hey, I got next and they’re all looking at you strange. Like go over to the other gym. But you have to reinvent yourself. Yeah. All right. You and I being old now. We got to reinvent oursel if we’re going to be involved in those games. And that’s where Carson Wentz has to realize this is not the Carson Wentz of the Eagles uh before he tore his ACL. This is me trying to figure out how to win a game. If that’s throwing a check down, if that’s checking to a run, uh trying to prolong a drive, that’s better than throwing the game ending pick. And I think that’s where Wentz has got to be mentally going into this game. the Chargers. It’s so hard to play a Thursday night game and do the quick turnaround and what they got facing them, especially with the injuries that they’ve got. And so, and I think Brian Flores deserves to be a head coach again. I’m sorry. I just think he got kind of messed over and somebody will be smart enough to hire him, but yeah, he’s he’s enough of a mastermind to wreck the Charger party. All right. Uh the Raiders are off this week. They get a much needed buy. The only other AFC West game, we’ve got the Dallas Cowboys and the Denver Broncos, which I think is a little sexier of a game than I might have thought a couple weeks ago. Dak Prescott’s putting together an incredible season. He’s got 16 touchdown passes, only three interceptions. Their offense has been exceptional. It looked great against Washington. You’ve got a Denver team coming off this incredible emotional comeback. Uh this is a game I’m not really sure which way it goes. I think if Dallas can put up another 30 plus point performance, I’m not sure the Broncos can match it. What do you guys think of the Cowboys and the Broncos? Kind of interesting because it’s it’s best on best in a way where the Cowboys are averaging 32 points per game right now, but the Denver defense is legit like a top five scoring defense. So, I’m curious who can win that battle. But then on the other side, the Cowboys defense has struggled all year and they have a bunch of injuries obviously and the Broncos offense has been struggling outside of some of these crazy fourth quarters that they’ve had. So, something has to give uh on both sides there. I do think if the Broncos find themselves in another like hole in the second half or fourth quarter, this is the kind of team in Dallas where you can’t just climb out of an 18-point deficit in six minutes because the Cowboys are going to score 30 points in the fourth quarter if they need to. They can move the ball really effectively, particularly now that they’re getting healthy with their receivers. So, u if Denver can keep it close throughout, uh I do think the Broncos have a decent shot. But this is not a team in Dallas that I think the Broncos can pull one of these comebacks off against. And like we talked about Mitch and I on the podcast. There’s an opportunity here for the Chiefs to go into Monday Night Football with a chance to be tied with the Broncos for first place in the AFC West. So, I’m hoping the Cowboys can pull this thing out. And if that’s the case on Monday night, Ari, that map behind you will have like a burn hole in it that will be at Kansas City because the place will be going crazy if the Chiefs have a chance to be tied for first at the end of Monday night to me. Um, in talking about these matchups, you know, sometimes you look at a team and you’re going, “Well, they got to fix this or fix that.” And there’s some things you’re looking at, you’re going, I they’re just unfixable. And right now, the Lions defense kind of reminds me of that. although they had a nice performance uh on Monday Night Football, but the Cowboy defense to me is one of the smallest NFL defenses I’ve ever seen. That is not a group where you’re looking at it like they’re really physical. They’ve got to somehow rely on getting a steal a possession or get a takeaway. And against Denver, I’m not sure they can do that. And Denver is just so physical right now that I think that’s the matchup that tips this in the Bronco favor. Okay. All right. Let’s go to what I think is potentially the most compelling game for next week. I don’t know if it’s going to turn into the best game. I think it’s compelling. We’ve got the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night going to play the Pittsburgh Steelers. Now, look, if this game is at Lambo and Aaron Rogers going back there to play, look like that there would be like a ratings bonanza, but it’s still pretty cool to see Aaron Rogers go up against the Packers. I’m sure there’ll be a lot of emotions and we all know he went to the Jets for a couple years. But look, whenever Aaron Rogers decides to call it a day and he retires, he’ll always be remembered as a Green Bay Packer. But the game also means a lot, right? I mean, the Steelers are sitting at top the AFC North. The Packers right now are only have the one loss and the one tie. They could end up being the number one seed in the NFC. I think it’s a compelling game. I sort of think the Packers are a better team, but the Steelers are at home. That place is going to be loud. It’s going to be proud. post, you know, the yellow towels are going to be going, the terrible towels. Uh, what are your thoughts? Aaron Rogers hosting his former team, the Packers, on Sunday Night Football. Well, from the Packers perspective, the Packers began the year through the first two weeks looking like maybe the best team in football. And even though they’ve been finding ways to not necessarily lose a bunch of games in the time since then, I feel like they’ve been hanging on for dear life. I mean, that game against the Cardinals could have gone either way. That was a coin flip there at the end. Uh, so I’m curious if the the Packers can go out there and put a dominant performance together, but the Steelers are playing good football, too. I do wonder if Aaron Rogers is going to throw the ball approximately a hundred times in this game. I can’t imagine he’s going to hand it off too many times against the Packers. What do you think? What’s equidistant between uh Green Bay and uh Pittsburgh? Is it like Kalamazoo, Michigan? Is that the house map right there? So, yeah, there it is. Wait, let me look the uh very handse. That’s the house where Aaron Rogers was, I think, in Calamazoo, Michigan in the dark for like a month. Oh, right. The question is I think he’ll go there this week and just be there until right before kickoff. He’ll repel from a helicopter down right at kickoff and like let’s go. Uh Green Bay to me is I think it’s also a contrast of the two divisions. Yes. because we have no idea in the AFC North. You could have a 9 and8 10 and seven division winner and you mentioned earlier on about the Vikings needing to win. Yes, they do because now the NFC North looks different than what we thought it was going to be because you got competitive teams there. So, uh, to me it’s also a contrast of two guys that are once had, you know, what currently does or once had Aaron Rogers as their hopeful quarterback, but it’s also two divisions that are clashing that are very different right now. They are. All right. So, my final thought, and I’m so glad that Mitch is here because this has a little bit of a historical context to it. My final thought, and we’re going to we’re going to do some blending of sports here. So last Friday, it’s game four of the National League Championship Series and Show Otani put on a performance that I think is hard to measure against any other sport. We’ve never seen anything like it. I think it’s already universally understood that it was the greatest game played by a baseball player in the history of Major League Baseball. And for those of you who don’t know some of the specifics, I’m going to give you just a few stats. He pitched six shutout innings. 10 of his 18 outs he recorded were strikeouts. So that means the defense didn’t have to make a play on 10 of those outs for hitting purposes. They had five runs. He hit three home runs. He scored three runs. He had three runs uh driven in. So that’s 60% of all of it. In four played appearances, he had a walk and three home runs. So I was trying to think of a way to equate what something on a football team, what somebody could do that would be the equivalent. So here’s what I came up with. It would be Patrick Mahomes doing the following. He would throw for over 300 yards and three touchdown and have a perfect quarterback rating. He would also play middle linebacker, have 10 tackles, a pick six, a force fumble, and a fumble recovery, and make two 50 plus yard field goals. Is that a fair assessment of the ridiculousness of what we saw from show last Friday? I mean, I think it’s the greatest performance I may have seen in any sport. What’s your guys’s take on my final thought? So, I think show Otani is the greatest baseball player of all time just because he can do a little bit of everything. He to me is the kid in Little League who’s just way better than everyone else and can pitch and hit hit for power. He can steal 50 bases. Like, it doesn’t make any sense to me that a human being can do all these things at an elite level. I love baseball. So, I remember when Shi first came over, I was thinking how it was kind of ridiculous to think he could do this Travis Hunter thing where he’s going to pitch and hit. And uh I mean to his credit, he is the best in baseball at both things. So, yeah, he’s amazing. I’m looking forward to watching the World Series. The ALCS game seven uh last night was incredible. that seventh inning where there’s few things better than George Springer coming to the plate and you have a moment that could go crazy and he comes through and the moment proceeds to be incredible like it was awesome. So anyway, I’m with you on that. Um my parting thought is that we are wearing hoodies right now because it is 65 degrees outside and finally we have some fall weather in Kansas City. Mitch and I enjoyed a beautiful fall day on Sunday. It was not 88 degrees like it was the week prior. And I think fall has arrived in Kansas City and selfishly I’m very happy about that. Yeah. So a bad sign if you’re a Brewers fan is you’ve only had one run in three games and you’ve been completely shut down by everybody the Dodgers throw out there and then in game four to try to survive you have show Otani. Yeah. Like that’s a bad feeling to have. And the fact that Otani really hadn’t done a whole lot at the plate until and you’re going this isn’t this ain’t going to work in game four. The only thing close to baseball, go back just a couple months ago, Nick Curts of the A’s. Go back and look at his uh like he had six home runs. It was called the perfect offensive performance of all time. I think eight at bats. Go back and look it up. But Nick Curts of the A’s had the perfect offensive night. Now, he didn’t throw like six shut out innings, uh, or that would and so the Mahomes equivalent would be, I’ll go I’ll see what you had, but he would also have a pick six, return a punt for a touchdown, and block a kick for a touchdown. Let’s just put it that way. My final thought is is kind of the theme, uh, Ari, two themes of this podcast. One was this is salute to service. That’s the hoodies we have. And some of the most important military installations in the world are within 90 minutes of us. Um, and we’ve talked about that a lot, but also the unselfishness of this Chief’s team when it’s not an agent saying you got to get touches and yards and we need endorsements and we got to get something done here. If you’re going to be that way and your agents that way, stand down. Go find some else to or else to play. Nine guys caught passes against the Raiders. And two of them just had one target and that was for 39 and 28 yards. Kelsey had three catches. One of those was for 44. This rocket has left the pad and nowhere is there any room for unselfishness. It’s a great example for every NBA team, every MLB team, every NHL team. If you’re selfish, leave it at the door because that’ll get in the way of winning. And let me tell you, I agree with that, but it also applies to every family, every organization, right? Selflessness always helps. You just can’t make it about yourself. And it was just so wonderful. I I have such a unique experience now watching the Chiefs games because I’m always thinking about you guys during the game thinking what’s your stress level like? How’s it going this week? So, I’m glad you guys had a stress-free Sunday. I think Monday night uh you know hopefully the Broncos go down on Sunday and it shapes up for a Monday night where the Chiefs can get back where they belong at top the AFC West. That’s it for out west with Ari. Wait a minute. I got to go to the gym. I got next. I got next. Oh, you got next. Love you guys. Looking forward. So, thanks to Ari, the AFC West looks very different than it did after the second week of the season. We are this close to being tied for first. But the exciting thing is, like we talked about, uh if some things can fall our way this weekend and the Chiefs can take care of business on Monday, we could be in first place this time next week. I’d like that plan. But to do that, it’s beating the Washington Commanders. Um, I use material a lot, but this team in the context of looking at the three and four commanders in 2025, and it’s really been about injuries, a plethora of injuries and turnovers. They’re minus five in the giveaway takeaway margin. They did not have their top three wide receivers against the Dallas Cowboys in their 44-22 loss. But I looked at this year in context of last year. If you look at last year, they were top five uh in most offensive categories. If you look at the Commanders a year ago, they were third in rushing, fifth in scoring. Now, they’re still running the ball. They’re number one in the league in runs of 10 plus yards, but this is a Commander team that is just missing a bunch of guys. We don’t know if they’re going to have Jaden Daniels or not. We don’t know if they’re going to have Debo Samuel or not. Austin Eckler’s already out. Guys that they’ve been counting on are not there. Uh they also went out thinking they were so close 12 and five last year, right? They get all the way to the NFC championship game and get give up 55 points to the Eagles, but they went all in in the offseason. They signed like over a dozen free agents and now here they are. But uh really an interesting study for this commander team which still has weapons and they’re dangerous. Yeah, really interesting team here because like you laid out, this is a group that went 12 and five last season, went all the way to the NFC Championship game and really kind of were a big surprise and they were fun and exciting. Uh I remember that game against the Bengals on Monday Night Football last year. Uh that was kind of like their announcement to the world like we’re here. This isn’t your same old uh Commanders or Washington Football team. Uh and you know with teams like that the most difficult thing to do is to follow it up the next year where you’re expected to win. Uh and they’ve had a lot of adversity this year. Uh you mentioned the injuries. Uh we don’t know if you know some of their top playmakers are going to play in this game and they’ve missed them quite a bit. I mean Daniels has already missed two games this year with a separate injury to his knee on the other leg. They lose Dorance Armstrong uh to a ACL injury um on Sunday against the Cowboys. Former KU JHawk. Yeah. He leads this team in sacks and pressures. They’re not going to have him the rest of the year. So lots of injuries. Uh it’s been difficult. And it’s it’s tough too because this team in so many ways was like hyper efficient last year on offense and uh part of that is Jaden Daniels is so lethal with his legs. He was second to only Lamar Jackson in terms of rushing by a quarterback last year. Well, when you have a knee injury, you have a hamstring injury, you can’t quite be as dynamic as a quarterback in terms of running the football. Uh and that changes things with their offense. So, uh they can still move the ball. We’ve seen that this year. Uh watch that Chargers game from a few weeks ago. They scored 27 points unanswered on the Chargers. So, they’re still very dangerous, particularly if they get some weapons back uh here in this game, but their defense has struggled this year. And I think they’re a team right now kind of going through one of those growing pains of we know we’re good. We were good last year, but you lose two games in a row. How do you respond to it? We’re going to find out a lot about this iteration of the Commanders over the next few weeks. Yeah. Will they have Debo Samuel or not is a big deal, too. U McLaren had his contract issues, then he gets hurt. I mean, that’s just been that way for Washington. But we can’t sit here and not be where we were at 0 and2 thinking, “All right, we got a chance to put this together, piece it back, and not respect the commanders feeling that same way, right?” Sure. No, absolutely. I mean, this is a team that has good leadership. I think I think Dan Quinn’s an awesome leader. I mean, he turned that thing around last year, right? So, they do have a great infrastructure and they have good players. Uh, just a matter of kind of turning the page and figuring it out. It’s tough when you have injuries like this and when your team’s built around a handful of players uh and you lose them early in the year, it’s difficult. But we’ve dealt with that, too. We know what it’s like. To the Chief’s credit, they’ve found a way to kind of get over that hump. Can’t let the Commanders do that on Monday. Yeah, it’s weird. They’re last in the league and only having seven points on first offensive possessions. And last year, they were tied with the Chiefs at top seven in the league. But whether it’s the first offensive possession, defensive possession, or throughout the whole game, I don’t care what sport you’re in in professional sports or any level, usually if it’s talented enough, the most unselfish team will win.

  1. Funny story about Redding, KS…the only business there (or at least 25 years ago) was a bar & grill. One time while eating there, my friend went to pay and actually asked, “Do you take out of town checks?” Funny…no banks in town. ALL CHECKS are out of town! 😂😂😂 Sure do miss Redding, though. Great bar & grill!

  2. I am from Emmerich am Rhein in Germany, 67 years old and have only become a Chiefs fan in 2022, with the Chiefs on their way to the Super Bowl win against the Eagles. My future son-in-law, who is a Chiefs fan for ages, got me heated up for the game and the Kingdom. Ever since, I have followed the Chiefs. This year, I truly believe we see a Chiefs team developing with a chilling strength on all three lines on their way to yet another Super Bowl. Go Chiefs!

There's never been a dynasty quite like this one.

  6. I am so selfish that I am being trolled to be a fan of Mahomes, when I was in love with this kid against Brady back in those Patriots days. Plus I am a fan of Ms Swift. Am I wrong somewhere to be trolled?

  7. Where do we contact to get a shout out in Around the Kingdom? It's Josh and Shiloh from Kenya (Africa) we've claimed Nakuru, Kenya for Chiefs Kingdom. Born in KC, Live in OH, and serving as a missionary in Kenya. Shiloh is from VA and also serving here and both Chiefs fans!

  8. I've been a Chiefs fan for 55 years and they are playing very well so far this year. I'm so glad that we got Rashee Rice back for the first time in a year and a half. I believe we are going back to the Superbowl again this year!!!
