Is the Jets’ stock UP after trading Quinnen Williams? 📈 DRAFT ANALYSIS | NFL Trade Deadline Special

There was a lot of interest in Quinnon Williams across the league and the Dallas Cowboys obviously felt like they wanted to make moves with the draft capital that they had accumulated from the Micah Parsons trade and so they have traded a first round pick in 27 in addition to a second in 26 to the Jets along with Mazy Smith for Quinnon Williams. Now, it’s interesting. I was on the phone with a GM before. I said, “Boy, that’s a lot to give up.” And he said, “I don’t think so at all because you’re getting a young threetime Pro Bowl defensive tackle in the prime of his career. You’re bringing him in. I think people feel like that was a great move for the Dallas Cowboys. If you’re the Jets, you you are sending a message that we now have more draft capital than any team in the league. We control the drafts in 26 and 27. We are going to be taking a quarterback a quarterback somewhere along the way with somebody that we like. And so the Jets made hu two huge massive trades. Now where they’re at right now as we are 57 minutes away from the NFL trade deadline. Lot of names floating around out there. Quinn Quincy Williams, Germaine Johnson, Bree Hall. Look, something could change in a moment. Wow. But my understanding is I I I think they may be done for the day. I think they may be done for the day. We’ll see how that come I’m shutting off the buzzer because I don’t want to distract everybody. Well, well, I mean, just don’t shut it off so quiet that you can’t figure out what’s happening. Um, all right. We’ll keep an eye on everything. Again, Adam Sheper is here. So, as any news happens, he’s bringing it to you. We are with you until 5:00 p.m. NFL Live comes your way right after this. Lewis, I was just in Dallas for this Cowboys game that they lost that they looked so poor on defense, right? And and the Cardinals come in there and get a big win on the road. They need all the help they can get. Do you like this move? And and maybe even in totality, the moves that they have made to also get Logan Wilson, too. Yeah. I mean, they’re going front to back. Honestly, the secondary is the biggest issue for them. You saw that on Monday night. You saw what the second you saw what the quarterback situation looks like. The safety position is even worse. But this is kind of be gonna be something that’s going to have to be taken in phases. So when you have someone like Quinnon Williams and then you have someone like Kenny Clark and you have someone like Osa Diggiza, what have we talked about over the past two to three years with the Dallas Cowboys when you get in the month of November and December? They get bludgeoned against the run, right? They’re too small inside. They don’t have enough uh firepower at linebacker. Logan Wilson changes that as far as having a downhill thumper. So now you get a 27year-old guy who has two years remaining after this year on his contract who’s one of the best TFL producers of all defensive tackles in the NFL to go along with Kenny Clark who’s an absolute stud. It’s a it’s a it’s a step in the right direction for them. Although in the back end, look, we all know that the NFL is about explosive plays, Mike, and you got to be able to prevent them in the secondary. They need some more weapons back there, too. Yeah, no doubt about. I agree, Lou. At least they addressed what they had to up front and Quinton Williams is a differencemaker them paired with Kenny Clark. And what we saw on opening day when Greenbane came out with all that enthusiasm and energy because they had Micah Parsons and overwhelmed Detroit. I think when Dallas comes off of their by-week and they played the Vegas Raiders, it’s going to we’re going to see the same thing. They’re going to have confidence they didn’t have that wait, we we actually have some good players now on defense. Now look, Adam mentioned that there’s still 55 minutes to go. There are some corners out there. Maybe it’s an Alante Taylor from the Saints. Maybe it’s Reek Woolen, although I don’t think that the Seahawks are necessarily sellers. They have some depth at the quarterback position. So maybe the Cowboys can add a quarter because I agree with Lou. That’s something that they need to do. Yeah. Uh Quinnon Williams, by the way, since entering the NFL in 2019. 40 sacks he has or fifth most among primary defensive tackles. You’re looking at the Cowboys schedule there. Of course, at the Raiders, that’s a Monday Night Football game. We’ll see them there in Vegas. Then the Eagles, the Chiefs. I mean, if they’re gonna need to make some progress in this schedule, that’s maybe how they do it with adding some of this defensive help. Go ahead, Adam. My only question would be they’re 35 and one, and you want to get great players whenever you can, so that really doesn’t matter. But, but is it too late make the run this year? I I would agree with that except Quinton Williams is in the prime of his career. He should be a guy that they have for a number of years a draft choices if on their the lower end that it gives them a little bit more value. Yeah. I mean, you’re talking about in the immediate they’re three. I think I think I think think they thought they’d win last night. They’d be four and one going into the buy getting ready for a Monday night game in Vegas against the Raiders. A winnable game. Now you’re 54 and one and you’ve added Quinnon Williams and you’ve added Logan Wilson and you’ve made moves post deadline. My point is I think the loss last night threw a little bit of a monkey wrench into their plan. They still can make it, but but that conference is loaded. There’s a lot of teams they’re going to have to pass out to make the playoffs. I mean, what last night showed you, look, it’s an explosive play league. That’s what it is. And in the unless they are number one in pass rush win rate, and they’re like creating the kind of pressure that absolutely can go ahead and hide what is a terrible secondary. I I don’t I mean, it’s not going to make that much of a difference this year, but in the long run, it will because now they they have a lot of youth. They have a lot of size. I mean, Logan Wilson is a stud in the middle. I understand that Cincinnati kind of phased him out there because they don’t think that he can run as well. some of the young people that they have and he can’t but they needed to stop their run. We you’ve talked I mean how many times you talk about on NFL live over the past two years what Dallas looks like in November December. It is the constant conversation. The problem I think to Adam’s point is that Cowboys fans are like wait a second we just lost to the Cardinals at home. What are we doing in the immediate it just doesn’t feel like this is going to be enough to change things immediately. We’ll see though if it makes enough of a difference. Well, we know then what Dallas receives the Jets receiving a bunch of draft capital. Lewis, is this what they needed to do? They needed to clean house, start fresh, and and hopefully use this. Obviously, they’re going to be seeking a quarterback in 26 and 27. How do you view this? Yeah, it’s a hard reset for sure. I mean, from the time we did that, we we went and talked to Aaron Glenn down in Miami for their Monday night football game till now, they just have not been able to make any headway as far as changing the culture, Laura, as far as them kind of breaking some of the old habits that they have. as my collar is all messed up here on my jacket. We’re we’re all messed up around here. But I mean, they just haven’t been able to make any headway. And sometimes the only way to make headway is to say, “Hey, look, all the things that we have been doing and with the people we’ve been doing it with is not working. So, we have to kind of wipe the slate clean and start over.” And where are they going to start over? Mike was just talking about this in the green room. They obviously have now obtained enough ammunition to go ahead and say, “Whichever quarterback we deem to be the one who we think can be a franchise quarterback, that’s the one we’re going to try and go get.” And that’s where it has to start. Yeah. And to me, guys, the the NFL draft in 2026 just started on November 4th. And here’s why. What’s fascinating to me is this guys, there’s a number of teams that’s going to be coalesing around the first pick overall. Certainly the Jets, maybe the Giants, maybe the Dolphins, maybe the Titans. So here’s what’s interesting guys. Let’s just say for sake of discussion here, it’s the Tennessee Titans, right? By the way, this is the order just through week nine. It it will change, but go ahead. So, let’s just say that the Jets don’t have the first pick. It is a lot worse to have a bad year. But what’s even more dramatically bad is if you don’t have the first pick. And I think what the Jets told the world today was, “We’re getting a quarterback and we’re going to pay the bill. We’re not negotiating. We have more ammunition than anybody. So, if we don’t have the first pick and it’s Tennessee and we want to go get quarterback X next April when everyone’s in Pittsburgh, they have the ammo to do that.” Guess what? They’re not alone in the upcoming draft because the Cleveland Browns have double ones. The Los Angeles Rams have double ones. No, no doubt about it. But now, if you’re the Jets, you have You said the You said the Los Angeles Rams. Los Angeles Rams. No, that’s a No, that’s a that’s a good one. That’s a good one right there. If you’re the Jets, you have two ones. You have two twos and you have two ones in 2027. So all my point is I think what Aaron Glenn, Darren Muji, Woody Johnson said today, we are getting a quarterback next year and whatever the bill is because again I think what’s fascinating is and Laura you you made the point we’re only right now like halfway through the season. If Tennessee gets the first pick, we could see a historic amount of action and so many of those other teams need one. Yeah. I will tell you this, the quarterback evaluation process for the 2026 draft is going to be wild. Yeah. because every week it changes. It was Tai Simpson for a few. I’m just telling you, watching these guys every week and traveling around the country, these guys are all over the place, man. So, if I’m meeting the quarterback, although there’s a lot of them out there. Yeah. How would you rank them right now? Just really quick. We’re not doing a draft show, but this kind of I can’t I can’t even say cuz you know, I haven’t watched them all. But but it’s it’s all tied in. It’s all these picks, all these. All I’m saying, all I’m saying is as much of an exciting season it has been in college football, a lot of it has to do with the inconsistencies across the board with all these teams. I mean, you see it every single week. And now all these teams that need quarterbacks where this was considered to be going into the season. This is a slam dunk. One of the best quarterback drafts that we’ve seen in recent history. Let’s see now. It’s see how this is all going to shake out. These guys may not even come out. Exactly. That’s the interesting thing. Lenor Cers. Yeah. Yeah. All that. I agree with all that. I’m just saying like one of the headlines from today is I think the Jets has announced to the world that we are getting a quarterback somehow someway. Somehow some way whatever the bill is if it’s the Rams it’s the Browns we could sit at the same table and we could be part of that bidding process that because again if Tennessee gets the first pick we’re going to be talking about a wild off season. Okay again this is coming down to the wire. We are about 24 minutes until the NFL trade deadline hits zeros. And that means whatever deal Adam was working on there a few minutes ago. Well, he’s predicting we’ll get at least one more. We’re going to get one more. Okay, so people just think about that. These teams right now are trying to crunch the numbers, make this deal happen, and they don’t have much time left because the deadline is here. As soon as it happens, Adam has the information. He will bring it to you. He’s one of the most, if not the most powerful man men in the in the world right now. The hardest working person in the company. So, that’s my compliment. [Music]

Cuánto me he quejado y llorado, cuánto he llamado y cuánto he suplicado, pero no hay vida para aquellos a quienes invocan. ¿Les complace que mis hermanos lloren y mueran de hambre mientras ustedes están aquí? Dios sabe que no tenemos ni un kilo de harina. Mi padre murió y mis hermanos son jóvenes. No tenemos a nadie. 2. Jerry Jones is in his feelings right now after what went down last night, and I don't blame him one bit, handle your business, MR. JONES GET RID OF EBERFLUS TOO WHILE YOU ARE AT IT

  3. Cowboys have now won the parsons trade with these 2 defensive tackles! Everytime the cowboys defense have been really good was when they were stiff up the middle! Rush and pass!

  4. okay now , watch the jets be the SAME OLD JETS and lose 1st overral pick cause they want to WIN all of a sudden

just like how they lost T. Lawerance that year and ended up getting like 3rd overral or 8th. to get wilson.,

MF did the same with darnold, that year ,, it was mayfield or barkley that year

MF STOP GETTTING THE 3rd or 8th overrall and get the MUTHAA FUICKING 1st. U DUM STACK OF SWAIN

    the SAME OLD JETS

  5. This year's draft isn't that spectacular. We're getting a great still young All Pro DT and getting rid of Mazi Smith. We still have a #1 this year and 2 first round picks next year. And there's no one in the draft close to Willaims caliber. Williams and Clark will make this a much better run defense. I just rope the used the 1st round pick we got from Green Packers.

  6. Huh?!🤔 The J E T S are in perpetual rebuild as long as they have terrible Nepo Johnsons as owners. NFL force the sale of the team and the league will be better .

  7. 3-5-1 😂. Jets and Cowboys are both an absolute joke. Jets have “taken a quarterback” for 2 decades. How bout the PATRIOTS?! 😅😅😅😅😅😅

  8. I’m not happy about losing Williams. But if he wanted to go then it’s whatever. The Jets are just tanking the season. Which makes sense. I Love Justin Fields but we’re not winning with him unless an OC or coach that can get him the basics happens.

  9. why talk first about accumulating picks only for trading up. Take whatever QB and use the picks. MT doesn’t even consider that. But of course he loved jumping up in the draft.

  10. This is just unbelievable. My mouth dropped when I saw this one. That man is nothing short of elite. Future hall of fame player if healthy. Dallas fans buckle up this guy can play ball

  11. Dallas thinking adding 2 players is going to make their defense not suck is wild lmaooo

Reminder they were still a bottom 5 defense last year with Micah. This is a desperation move that will end badly for them like all other Jerry moves.
