Would Don Mattingly return to the Yankees?
being on the ballot and what it would potentially mean to be voted into the Hall of Fame. Yeah, obviously it’s you feel good that you’re on the ballot. Um I think I’ve been on I don’t know which ballot I’ve been on uh in the past. Um I’ve always been pretty uh non uh non-political about it. I’m not really a guy that politics for for like getting in or anything else. And I think I said it on the Dan Patrick show, he had asked me about the Hall of Fame in general. And I think as the older I’ve got and and I I want to say it in the right way, but again, you know, politic, but I I’ve said there’s not really anybody in there that I don’t think I could get. And if I was on the field with those guys, I feel like I’d be I wouldn’t be out of place. I kind of say it simply like that. who came to that decision um at the end of such a successful season. Uh probably was closer to that decision before it ever season ever started. Uh kind of had a pretty good feeling that uh this was going to be my last year in Toronto. Um and really kind of like when I went to Toronto when Ross called me, I was I was thrilled. Uh had a great time there. The organization’s been tremendous. Uh the fans there are tremendous. It’s been a great run. Um but I I thought before the year started that this was kind of like I felt like this was kind of the end with Toronto. Um and really nothing more than that. Uh just felt like it was the right time. Any thought on that being a manager again? Uh not really. Um haven’t really thought about that at all. I don’t know if if that’s something that’s in the cards for me. Um, at this point u definitely don’t think and I don’t say this in a bad way, but the Rockies is probably not a good fit for me. That’s more of a, you know, obviously a building situation. Probably meant more for a younger guy with lots of energy. Uh, so I I wouldn’t think that would be the proper fit for a fan base that adors you here in New York. Would you return to the New York Yankees coaching in any capacity? you all right? Well, I think at this point I just want to just chill and and figure out what I want to do. Um, you know, I I don’t know. I think I think you just kind of wake up today, take everything in, try to relax from the season. Uh, and again, just trying to find see what comes up and what balances, you know, the the family and work. or what you’d like to do next to work with, you know, I don’t know. Uh I think the thing I wrestle with, you know, is trying to balance family with a 10-year-old. Um trying to balance that with still loving do, you know, doing what I’m doing. Um and then balancing the road as a, you know, 64, feel good, but the road can get kind of wears you down. like if I talked about it right now, I’m like last thing I want to do is be on the road. But you never know how you feel in, you know, a month from now or whatever. Um, so kind of those are the things I wrestle with. Um, this is really that balancing act of family and, you know, and still being a part of the game, which you know, I still like I like what I’m doing.

Short answer: No.
As long as Cashman is here to ruin relationships with legendary Yankee alumni (Jeter/Reggie/Donnie/etc), no one wants it.
Donnie is absolutely a hall of famer he was one of the best players in mlb for a solid 6 years that’s 6 years more dominant seasons than Harold Baines who is in because of his relationship with Tony LaRussa and Jerry Reinsdorf who lobbied for him to get in!
