The Blues next move REVEALED…

The Blues next move has been revealed as multiple rumors and reports are circulating around the team and one player in particular after a disastrous start to the season. But not only that, we’re also going to get into what Jim Montgomery has planned to get this team kickstarted. And what that is is going to surprise Blues fans. We’re going to break it all down in this episode of Blues Digest. But before we do that, Mark, we’ve noticed that a large percent of you, about 60% of you, 59% to be exact, are not subscribed to the channel. So, if you want to stay up to date with everything that’s happening with the St. Louis Blues, make sure to go down below, hit that free subscribe button. You get to stay up to date with everything going on with the Blues. And let me tell you, that’s a lot so far this season, Mark. We got a lot to get into today, including the first move that has been rumored. It looks like a trade could be on the horizon very soon. And I think the biggest thing is the St. Louis Blues have not started the season what we were expecting going out to add all these names to the team. The Blues are playing very bad. They’ve allowed five goals seven times over the 14 games they’ve played this season. The Blues have been a team that’s been struggling to get consistent goalending. Offense, defense, the Logan Mayu saga. But Darius, the biggest thing is we know this is a team where reports were coming from Elliot Freeman that they’re actively on the phone. Doug Armstrong wants to fix things around this team and it goes straight into a report coming from David Pegnota. We heard Pavl Boots Nevich’s name in the summer. He’s got a full no move clause. Do they entertain that now going into the summer? These reports were ever they’ve started now going all the way back to where people were talking about he needs a bounceback. What is your thoughts on BCH’s name just kind of being circulating in the trade rumors? Well, we heard them in the summer, right? We were kind of talking about that in the summer as well, but we kind of put it to the side because you’re looking at the Blues lineup in the summer and we were all so high on it. We were bullish on this team. We’re like, they’re going to be fine. Why would you trade away a guy that can put up points? By the way, look at the contract, especially now the fact that we’re talking about trading him today is absolutely insane. But, you know, he signed or coming into this year, you know, he had that new contract kicking in. He’s a big forward, right, that can uh put the puck in the back of the net at times. and he’s a complimentary piece to a lot of lines. No matter where you put him in the lineup, he can add a different element to that line because, you know, throughout the lineup, the Blues have, you know, in theory, on paper, a good mix of uh skill and speed, right? So, he can kind of factor into that. But so far this year in 14 games, hasn’t been that great in terms of point production. Now, all of a sudden, rumors are starting to peak up again about trading him. Mark, if you can go back to his contract for a second, I don’t know how, especially at 30 years old right now, you trade a contract that has him making $8 million in the middle, not even in the middle, right at the start of a season, uh, for the next six years. That doesn’t make sense for other teams, right? So, I wonder if they at least kick tires on it. He also has a no move like we talked about at the beginning of the video as well. I think this would be very difficult, but ultimately, I think Doug Armstrong is going to start kicking tires on a lot of things right now because this team does not have it. And listen, they can uh pick it up in the second half. We’ve seen it. They’ve done it twice before, right, in recent memory. But last year, there was something that sparked it, right? You had the Four Nations face off. Maybe the Olympics can do that again. That’s going to be a little late in the season for my liking. Uh but the goalending hasn’t been great, and you need some type of spark. Last year, I think it was the Fowler trade that really just, you know, brought the team all together. You have that new exciting piece in the lineup when he was playing really well. Nothing like that this year. I feel like the solution has to be in the room. Although I think it’s pretty interesting that his name is popping up again. And I think the biggest thing is listen, that contract is not great. Kicking in on the first year, having a bad start, the entire Blues team has not been good. So throwing it just on him is not ideal. But the biggest thing is we’ve seen him almost regress season after season in his point total. 67 points, 63, 57. He’s working back in production. Of course, he’s getting older, but I think the one saving grace with this Blues team is yes, he kind of regrets season after season. Yes, he’s off to a slow start, and yes, the $8 million is a big price tag, but we’re moving into a new capital role where each season we’re going to get $10 million added on to each team’s payroll. So, moving out BCH will get easier as time moves on. Teams are going to get an extra 10 million extra. So, Boos looks smaller. You get 10 the following year, 10 after that. So, eventually the contract won’t look as bad. This is going to come the normal rate for what we see as third or second liners at the point. But I think this is a contract that they’re going to have to look at. If they want to move on from, you have to do it now. The farther you get into this as he’s going older. He’s 30. Like you said, when you’re working towards 34, 35, 36, this is going to get harder to move. And listen, we’re going to get into a big change coming to the Blues from Jin Montgomery. But before getting into that, Darius, we spoke on Steven Stamp because the $8 million contract for the 34 year old. Do you think there is a world that maybe this is where you just look at this? Doug Armstrong says, “Hey, we screwed up. Why don’t we just do a swap? You get Stam Coast for two more years after this year instead of paying Boots this six-year deal at 8 million.” Well, if you’re looking at Nashville, I think they want to get out from under the contract if you’re trading Steven Stampos, right? But at this point, he’s not doing much in Nashville. And there was also another report from Elliot Freeman that he likes living there. So, that could be difficult to move that contract in terms of that. But, you know, if you know you’re going to a team that maybe you can contend with, I think players start to become more open about that, especially if the team is like nudging them like, “Hey, come on. Like, we we got to do something here, right?” So, that could be an option. I do wonder if Nashville just looks at it like, “Hey, we’ll cut our losses here. We’ll get a younger player uh that maybe could benefit from a change of scenery at this point in Buchane. And same with Stamos, right? Benefit from a change of scenery again because since he’s gone to Nashville again, I don’t think, you know, there’s a lot of guys that are his age that are still playing very well. Look at John Tvaris for example, right? I don’t think you forget how to play hockey. It’s just a bad situation and they didn’t put that the team chemistry there in Nashville is just not right, right? They didn’t put together a good team there, a good mixture. So, I think that’s definitely an option, but ultimately I think they should be looking at some maybe younger options, maybe calling some younger guys up to play with some of the older guys that they have in the roster right now to gain that experience. I think that’s their route. You have to go start looking a little bit younger. Uh, but Stampos would be an interesting option if it helps, right? ultimately he can play on that left wing like we know now uh and maybe moving out BHVIC that could make some sense but you’d be taking on more salary but for a shorter period of time maybe that makes sense in that case and I think the biggest thing is there’s a lot of teams around the NHL that want to hit the cap floor listen the San Jose Sharks went out like they were in a franchise mode in a rebuild which they’re basically doing right now but going out to maybe at BHC is a thing that teams might want to do maybe the Sharks want to take on a contract like this try to see what they can get out of them we know the production that BCH once had. I mean, a goal scorer that can go out and score you 30 goals, put up 60 plus points. This is a player that has it in him, but it feels like the St. Louis Blues struggles. BCH is not putting it on his back to help them get out of a fence. Before we get into the second crazy topic that we need to touch on, what is your guys’ thoughts on the rumors? Are you fine with moving on from BCH? What would you expect? Would you rather just dump them? Let us know down in the comments. And this goes straight into Jim Montgomery is proving a point with this St. Louis team where where we do see coming from Lou that Jordan Kairo looks like a healthy scratch tonight. Now this was something we seen just before recording this. It actually kind of blew my mind that this is the route they’re taking. But what is your thoughts on Jordan Kyu struggle? The team struggles as a whole. And is this Jin Montgomery looking at the team and saying, “Hey, if you do not produce, you are out of this lineup immediately.” I like this move and let me explain. And I think you brought up something earlier in the episode, Mark, where you said you can’t pin it on any one player. You can’t pin the losses in the way the season’s gone on just Bennington. You can’t pin it on just Kyu or Mayu or or Bhnavic like you were talking about as well. You can’t do that. And you know, I could sit here and tell you that maybe personally I think Jordan Kairo, I’m a little bit indifferent about him this year so far. I mean, could he be playing better? Yeah, probably. But I see out there on Twitter people are like, “Oh, he’s awful.” And then there’s other people saying like he’s the least of theirs issues. He’s fine. Leave him in the lineup. This is a dumb move. That’s what I’ve seen out there this morning. Listen, it’s not even about him being the worst player or being the best player on the team. Whatever it is, even if he was underperforming or is underperforming in the eyes of Jim Montgomery or the fans, this is a message. You’re on the second half of a backto-back. I’m scratching Jordan Cyu, says Jim Montgomery, right? To the rest of the team. If you do not start picking up the slack, you’re next. It doesn’t matter who you are, right? I like this message. It doesn’t matter. It it would be so obvious to me Mark if Jim Montgomery said Logan Mayu you’re scratched again or you’re going down to the AHL like we’ve it it happened right and it’s clear he’s struggling like that doesn’t send a message Kyru’s been here for a while right he’s the should be depended upon to score to put up points all of that stuff he’s not even playing the worst there probably you know worst player so far this season in the lineup but he’s pointing at Kyu and he’s saying you’re getting it tonight you’re sitting and you know what the next guy next to you on the bench you’re next right like make them uncomfortable they have to start going here and after a game like we don’t have to get into the game against Washington of course the specifics of that but after a game like that for your head coach to come out and for your captain to come out and question work ethic that’s tough that’s bad right so now we’re at that point in the season you have to start turning things around you have to send a message and he’s doing it with Jordan and Kyu I have to say I like it it might not make sense to some people maybe it should be the worst player that sits right I think this does make sense and I think it could help and I do like that in that sense because you’re looking at had a guy like you said that’s been a tenered player on this team. He’s been on this team since 2018-19 coming through and scratching a player that’s not living up to the expectations, the contract of what you want from a leader in this room on the ice and a point producer. I do like that as well where you’re looking at a lineup and Jim Montgomery said it going into camp to even the young guys. Do not buy an apartment. You are not safe here until you make the team. I think he’s really pushing this motive now where no one is safe. And I wonder if that trickles through with Doug Armstrong looking at a team where maybe Jim Montgomery says, “Hey, this guy’s not performing. We’re going to scratch him. If he doesn’t bounce back, trades need to happen.” But what is your guys’ thoughts on this? What is your thoughts on the rumors around Booch? Is he the next one being traded from this team? Are they looking at other trades? What is your thoughts on Jordan Kyro being scratched? Let us know down in the comments. And speaking of comments, let’s go straight in the comments today saying, “No way. We we want the youth movement. Let’s see the youth.” And I think this is really a good point where we’ve seen D’Vorski step up. Maybe Otto Steenberg’s the next in line. What is your guys’ thoughts? Would you like them to go out and get a veteran that can maybe shake this team up or do you rather a younger player and more movement where we see Jake Neighbors, Snugrun, all these guys taking a step? Let us know down in the comments. And while you’re down there, leave a like, subscribe, share this with your friends. That’ll be it for this episode. I’ve been your host Mark with my co-host. 1. 6-1 loss speaks volumes on scoring, defending, and goaltending. Coaching on this team seems to be spinning and not focussed on consistantcy, along with chemistry. When young players are being moved in and out of the lineup with different line mates, it creates zero confidence in the player. Losing will become a culture for a team not that far off a winning team with a cup! Where did that winning culture go?

  2. It’s time to move on from Buch…he’s started slow two years in a row. Kyrou, should be traded…he skates like a butterfly. Afraid of hitting or being hit.

  3. Talent is one thing, effort and mental toughness are another. This team is loaded with talented guys who regularly go through long stretches in which their effort is questionable. The leadership group specifically, and all of the veterans more generally, are soft (with the obvious exception of Schenn who is usually an effort guy working with a rapidly diminishing skill set). Buch, Kyrou, Faulk, Parayko, and even Thomas are soft. From the way they approach the game to the way they quit on coaches every season. You can get away with a couple of guys like this, but you can’t get away with a room full of them. It’s time to blow up the veteran core, and find some guys who actually enjoy playing hockey.

  4. The blues could potentially get Ellis back. Buffalo has to put him on waivers again after he has been there 30 days. So will they i don't think so, but they definitely could. As far as buchnevich goes, get tf out of here. He absolutely has to go

  5. Its time for Armstrong to go. No moving up to president of hockey Ops. The Mailloux trade was a disaster, with little indication itll woek out long term, the Fowler extension was obviously too early, not trading Buchnevich last year. Doug has been taking Ls left and right. The offer sheets is the only thing he's done right for several years now. He dismantled the championship roster and has been treading water ever since. If they would have entered a proper rebuild when Pietrangelo signaled he wasnt going to stay, the Blues could have built a new team off of blue chip talent.

  6. Unfortunately, I dont think Buch really has any value. I would love to have him lower in the line up instead of being paired with top caliber players. Buch is dragging down the front line other than helping them out.

  7. From everything in the past as well, I wonder if Kyrou is one of the more negative forces in the locker room. This isn't the first slump in production from him and I'm sure it won't be the last. Just seems too temperamental to have a leading role on the team. While Buch isn't doing so hot right, we get much more consistency out of him than Kyrou it feels like. I want to like Kyrou but this is every season with him.

  8. 23 needs kept out of the lineup, not to mention he does not look like he has any idea what he is doing on the ice whatsoever, hate saying that knowing he's a pro, but it honestly does. 51 style of defense isn't much better but is better.

  9. When the HC allowed the Blues to play soft on game seven, getting up to 4-0 lead, only to lose the game lies squarely on the HC shoulders!! They stopped attacking and started playing not to lose defense, which never works in any sport!!!

  10. The blues didn’t learn anything with signing Buch to a massive extension a year out of being a free agent and decided to double down on a 33 yr old Fowler. Stupid unnecessary signings like these just make this whole situation more infuriating

  11. I really think the blues need to focus on defense, their clearly scoring. I think its stupid their talking about making any kind of trade or what ever for a forward. Maybe bring carbonneau over as a defensemen just an idea😂

  12. I don’t agree with u guys on kyrou yes he recently hasn’t been playing that good for the last three games but him being the one don’t agree sit two or three at once more effective and more justifying the whole team lacks effort and heart !!!!

  13. Okay I'm going to keep this short and sweet… I bleed blue!!! WOW my boy's are getting paid a lot of money not to hit every night… Damn real talk 13 one game less one 23 was your highest hit's so far …. Grit pay's the bills… Man I know we have the fancy passer's and shooter's but we need defense grit and all sweet mother go tending 💯🧐🙉🙊🙈 please look for another goaltender as well holy… I've never seen the blues play this bad and their whole career as blues 🧐 unfortunately yes we need the older men almost on their way out just to help the team it's sad but true…. Because our rookies aren't getting it done they can't hit.. and they don't have defense… And for the love of God cannot stand in front of the goalie 🧐 so we'll take whatever we can get… YouTube guys are doing a fantastic job proud of you both… Moving on 🤜🤛💯💥🇺🇸🔥🧐

  14. Buch is probably not going to be traded. Kyrou finds himself chasing players and giving weak effort with his stick in the defensive zone, with his speed he could catch pretty much everyone in the league, it's a bad look. No one needs him to be physical when comes to defense but he does need to be tougher on the opposing offense. We've seen him play better, but recently he's started with that weak effort crap. I'm okay with this, he'll live and it's one of the tools a coach has when trying to get a point across to his team and an individual player.
