Moneyball Character HIRED by Rockies 🤯

Remember Jonah Hill’s character in Moneyball? Well, the guy that he was portraying just got hired as the new president of baseball operations for the Colorado Rockies. Paul D. Podesta has been working with the Cleveland Browns since 2016 as their chief strategy, but he’s returning to baseball for the first time in 10 years. Even though things haven’t been going great for the Browns, Deepodesta hasn’t necessarily been in charge of a lot of the personnel decisions, but he was credited for helping them with a long-term roster strategy, which helped them get 33 selections in the 2016 to the 2018 drafts and make picks like Miles Garrett and Baker Mayfield. Prior to that, he spent many years in MLB front offices, most notably with Billy Bean in the Oakland A’s, where he was an innovator in statistical analysis and helped them make four straight postseason appearances. After that, he spent two years as the Dodgers general manager, then spent time with the Padres’s and Mets front offices. But the Rockies are going to need a lot of help. They’re coming off of three straight 100 loss seasons, and they just had one of the worst seasons in MLB history. I’m fascinated to see how Deep Adessa tries to turn things around in Colorado and try to build up their foreign system and get them back into contention. But do you think he’s going to be successful? Let me know.
