Remember when we had the number one prospect pool in hockey at one point?

How could we have fumbled this? This falls completely on Luc…

  2. Not just fumbling it, but the organization is genuinely taking steps backwards. The NHL is proving to be a game of intensity, speed, and scoring. None of which this LA team has at the same level as other teams in the league. Not even close. Waste of Kopitar and Doughty’s career too. They deserved better

  3. The kings are a shit show of old boys club. It needs a hard reset. The young and promising players we get dont even get a fucking chance. That’s how we screw it up. But don’t worry, Jarrett anderson Dolan got nothing but lots of minutes. Straight trash.

We need to get rid luc.

  4. We are the Rangers West.

Just a blend of bad coaching (guys not suited to developing young players) and shit luck (injuries and covid making it difficult to properly gauge draft talent)

We really fast-tracked a rebuild/re-tool just for 4 straight 1st round exits to the same team.

  5. Let’s be realistic almost everyone on this list is a bust or depth player except Byfield and vilardi. Sure it seemed like we had a bunch of great prospects at the time but it doesn’t always translate to the nhl

  6. Turned out it wasn’t nearly as good a group of prospects as everyone thought. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

The Kings have been crap at developing high end prospects for a while. Whether they screwed up the kids’ development or no one but Byfield and Vilardi had the ceiling everyone thought they had, I don’t know.

  7. Out of those 10. We kept Q, Turcs, and Akil. The other 7 either traded or signed somewhere else during FA

  8. They were rated high cause of the depth but Byfield was the only one with star potential.

  9. A lot of those players were completely overrated. Having watched quite a few in the AHL in their time, they weren’t even good there, the most troubling were some of the 1 and second round picks.

  10. I remember this time period. I thought we had a chance to be a fucking dynasty with these guys, Kempe, lol. Other hockey fan friends kept telling me that we were going to be “scary good in the next few years.”

It’s like you said….how did we miss on so many of these guys? Other than Kaliyev (who even at the time I thought was a one-trick pony and regarding much higher than he should’ve been), the rest of these guys should have at least become NHL regulars. Nope.
