UPL let go almost two identical goals, one from Toronto game, another from yesterday’s Blues game. Looks like shooting on his glove is his biggest weakness.

I’ve been saying this since last year. He’s a not an NHL goalie. The team around him knows this and plays with much less confidence too.

Even if upl was a more consistent goalie he isn’t as good as Lyon or Ellis. Both of them are way better and more willing to actuaky play the puck and pass. That helps so much with defensive possession and breakouts
He sucks. Seen enough. They consistently play poorly in front of him and have for years. Its time to let him get a fresh start
UPL sucks. The experiment is over. Cut bait and move on.
Good thing Kevyn from accountyng got him paid off a streak of 25 decent games…
Enough with UPL. He had a part of one season where looked the part and has been mediocre since.
The books been out on his glove since our almost playoffs season. If he did ever make a glove save it might as well have been a blocker cause he didn’t catch it. And that’s when he did stop it at all
I think his weakness is hockey
Shooting the puck at him is his weakness.
* Weak glove side, especially low/middle
* Frequent bad positioning / bad angles on shooters
* Regularly overplays and has to scramble , leaving gaping 5 hole with his size
When his game his on, these problems are cleaned up. However this is maybe only 20-30% of the time.
He’s awful in net. Against the Caps, he put a rebound in the slot off a shot that came from outside the blue line and it lead to a scoring chance against.
Last night was typical UPL. Hes not an NHL goalie.
I find the hatred towards UPL in this thread and sub as a whole kind of hilarious considering we got shutout by the team with the worst goaltending in the league. It would have made absolutely no difference if Lyon was in the net last night.
Glove side has been his weakness since he started in Buffalo.
Both goals are scored where NHL shooters aim for – 15 -18 inches off the ice over the pad with the goalies limbs out stretched. That way if the don’t control the puck the goalie is in a weak position to recover for a second save .
Both goals the D gap is brutal . The Leafs goal the shooter used the D as a screen . The Blues goal the shooter changed the angle a ton by drawing the puck in just before release.
UPL because of his style does get a bit spreader out and more limb based than others .
