I’ve been beating the drums that I want to move on from Zion for about 2 years, but local media are starting to pick up the take as well. There’s still plenty of people that disagree and I note that, but I haven’t seen this much steam for the trade Zion take since we had the great BI Stan vs. Zion Stan war. Also, the trade ideas in that post are actual genuine 100% dogshit 😭
Is it just Queen doing well in a similar position that’s emboldened people to have this take, or did people just pick up on the first signs of life this teams shown in the last 1-2 years and decided to come out of the woodworks or something

Typo in the title, didn’t mean to put Ja 😔
It’s Fletcher Mackel.
His draft and trade related Pel’s takes are notoriously fucking dumb.
I mean even before the draft started and the Queen rumors to Nola were happening the discussion here was still about Queen being a replacement for Zion since their fit next to each other didn’t make a ton of sense.
It still seems like Queen was drafted as a role replacement for Zion so, yeah. Play Zion to get his trade value as high as we can and then move on from him.
We win games without Zion.
He hasn’t developed in 4 seasons. He’s a productive offensive player but hasn’t expanded his game like he should have.
He’s a bad fit with Queen, who’s quite frankly a more valuable asset for the Pelicans at this point.
And, of course, he’s not reliable.
Well I mean he doesn’t really play lol
For me it was five injuries ago. Zion isn’t a foundation piece.
If u can trade Zion and possibly get back in the lottery u do it
Talk to me about it nearer the trade deadline. I’m not desperate for it right now but if queen develops really well this year then it might be worth it.
6 games into the season is a bit early to be talking about having a 13th pick rookie cornerstone player
Zion is one of about 5 players in the league that have the potential to be a top dog on a championship team. If you think the team isnt going to be in a position to contend even if the starts align, then you see an outsized trade value compared to what hes actually contributing to our chances of winning a ring.
I would trade Z in a heart beat for any decent 3 and D player or maybe a good center
The reality is his skill set for the modern NBA is just not valuable. He has failed to develop any new offensive tools and every team knows exactly what he’s going to do every game
It’s time to recognize his time here as a failure and move on instead of just wasting even more time running in circles
Fletcher digging in his stash of shrooms again I see
Want back a Bane or Gobert type haul for Z if they can get him healthy.
I’m pretty sure Zion has missed 278 games in 6 years, has conditioning and work ethic issues, can’t space the floor and has a game that will almost definitely deteriorate once he loses his athleticism, which will probably go quicker thanks to all of his injuries.
He only has 2 years left after this so if you want to deal him you’re probably adding assets or taking on a worse contract.
But he’s played 2 full seasons, missed 4 and is already hurt.
What do you guys actually think zions trade value is at this point because I get the sense 99% of the sub lives in La la land on that front
The simple reality is Zion is incredibly talented, but is also incredibly difficult to build around. Add on top of that he is injury prone and only averaged 35 games per season.
We are a bad team overall and building around Fears and Queen just makes sense. These 2 rookies are offensive Hubs and we should build around them. Zion is a heliocentric offense that leads to very little ball movement since he doesn’t shoot outside the paint.
Time to move on from Z. Fears and Queen will be the big pieces going forward
That guy Fletcher has the trade machine out every week, with that being said..Queen was drafted clearly to eventually replace Zion. I don’t think the Pelicans want to continue being in the Zion business if he has another year below 50 games. I think this year will be the decider whether they stick with him or not.
Zion in shape or not can not stay healthy move on I’m tired of being sold on this guy getting it together every year you have a great base now with Queen and fears
I think I was on board with the movement when it was Year 4 for Zion. He hadn’t added anything to his game by that point that he couldn’t do on day 1 in the league.
He ain’t done shit here. 6 seasons & the only big game he’s played in was a play in. His hamstring is gonna be an issue for the rest of his career. His game is the same as it was when he was a rookie. Let some other team deal with his shit
Zion needs to be the second or third guy on a deep roster with a class organization or team structure to be successful. And he would be great in that role. He can’t be the guy. Send him to Detroit
Not opposed to moving on from Zion, but as usual, not onboard with Fletcher’s trade idea.
If we trade Zion for MPJ I think they might actually charge Dumars with organizational malpractice
Trash take by Fletcher. He must not have watched Denver in the playoffs. They traded MPJ for many many legitimate reasons.
I would be open to a trade maybe but not for Ja. That’s just trading one problem for another more volatile problem
Hot take but I’d rather trade Trey Murphy. I could see a team talking themselves into a huge overpay for him ala Bane or maybe even more. I just can’t see anyone wanting Zion as anything other than a buy low because of the fit/professionalism concerns.
At this point im not opposed to anything, i love Zi i even flee from europe to see him ( only for him to be injured ). But enough feels like enough and if he doesnt want to be there or doesnt put in the effort to lead thej lets respectfully and mutually part ways
The strippers in this region will never be the same if Zion is traded.
I got an idea, trade Zion to atl for the pels/bucks pick + more
I was against trading Z, but I think there’s no point in him staying a Pel anymore. Maybe with a different coach, but not with Willie. The only problem is his non-existent trade value. And I just don’t trust Dumars with any trade.
Stop listening to Fletcher Jesus Christ
