The NBA Has FIGURED OUT Victor Wembanyama!!

It feels very temporary, but our team’s figuring out how to stop Wimi. [Music] Yo. Yeah. See, you staring at me. No, cuz you put teams essed this when it was just one [ __ ] team. But you had teams because he was playing the Lakers deal. I knew what was coming. Negro. He’s still young, bro. They listen, I don’t listen, they haven’t they haven’t figured out how to stop him. He stops himself. Yeah. There’s just things he does and he he still seems to just be playing the game and he doesn’t really understand his advantage. His advantage is he’s taller than everyone by far. Right. So most of the time he gets the ball and he’s he will squat all the way down to do his moves. Right. Huh. Squat down to they left. Yeah. Like like he has Ruy on him. Yeah, do this. Turn and face and then he gets here to do a move like Yeah. They’re smaller than they want you to do that. Like if you get the ball and you turned and face and you’re sitting here, which means a smaller guy who’s like this has to now stand fully up, right? He has to lock his knees to do one of these. Now you can go. So you have to start going from here to here, right? Versus sitting here trying to do this. You don’t have a first full step. These guys are smaller. They’re going to they’re going to get under you. So you got to come from here, turn, shoot one of these, shoot two of these. Now Ruie has to come to you and now has to do the close out. Now you go around him. It’s like he wants to be a guard so bad, but he gets into this mode when yo, just turn face and the dribble’s too turn face, shoot, shoot from here. It’s not like anybody can block you like you’re talking about. Just that move alone for sure. That move alone, there’s only a few people who can even contest that jumper. That means they have to stand straight up to then jump. Just just off this, turn the face, look down, you can pass from here, and then you can just straight shoot from here. Make one pump fake. Right. All you got to do is just make one of those one of those. One of those that changes, but he gets the ball and he he’s ready to go already. He’s already low, man. Do the over the top. Yeah. You want to get low and do the Oh, man. Another little KD. The Chief Fouls, too. The Chief Fouls. Yeah, he going to get it. It gets him like out of his uh rhythm, too, a lot. And then the lack of uh the shooters around him, too. So, you can just double him right now. You realize he’s still what, this his third year? Yeah, this is his third year. He’s figuring out, man. So, obviously, we’re all super hot to start. He’s used to having a whole team trying to guard him, too. Got to go to dirt. This is when he goes to dirt this summer. Go to dirt. Get learn that high shot. that that that that put the knee out shot un unguardable. That’s all you need next. Yeah. That’s all you need cuz that’s going to open up the rest of your game cuz you don’t even have to be strong, right? Cuz when you’re when you’re when I’m behind you and I get to do this when I turn and face, you got to take your hand off, right? You got to take your hand. You got to take it off. So now it’s it’s it has nothing. Now you’re just shooting practice shots against a little bit of Clay cuz Klay don’t never bring that [ __ ] down. Cleanser Damas, I see you. Obviously, let the couch speak. You were in deep thought. It appeared to me from my vantage point. Appreciate your observation. Okay. Um, from an individual standpoint, I could agree with y’all, but you guys know I’m a team guy, so I think that the Suns played great team defense. Elbows and boxes. They were on the nail. They switched. They fronted and made it tough for him. They showed bodies. They did everything the old school defense used to do. Too bad defending Suns don’t play like that every night. They played to extinguish a fire that was heening and everybody’s giving this buzz and this spark for Wimby. They came in, they showed a blueprint. That blueprint is just old school defense. Be in be in front, show bodies, reach, dig, make sure he sees us all the time. For Wimby, I think it’s him being more patient and understanding exactly what the offense has when Dylan Harper’s out and you got a bunch of slashers in the game. Castles hasn’t proven himself to be a knockdown shooter. Benny hasn’t been hitting the shots as he used to and he did in the first three games. Harrison Barnes not knocking it down as much. So makes them more of a liability cuz he’s not a shooter at all. So now you got to look at how Tim Duncan used to play in the post when he used to be patient and you used to see those cutters and be able to find those guys moving around in in the offense. So you got to give Phoenix credit for one for bringing back shell defense is what we talked about. That [ __ ] got cooked too back in the day. That shell shell defense. Can I Can I finish Can I finish killer? Godamn shell def Shell defense. [ __ ] [ __ ] want to do is interject my [ __ ] so fast. God damn. The shell defense. Goddamn. I get that. Can we You see how they was doing the shell defense? The Lakers come in. They mimic it because JJ scene and this was effective against Wimby. Everybody move around. We got to We got to We got to shuffle against him, scramble against him, make it tough against him, show bodies, and we got to be on the nail when he has the ball on the wing. That was very effective. Keep him off the glass. make those other shooters shoot. Make him shoot. Make him take tough shots. Everything is working and to everybody else’s benefit. But the thing I’ll say to Wimy is this is what happens when you start when you start hot and you’re a big man and you don’t have the pieces around you to extinguish those fires. So once these guys start hitting shots, they start moving the ball a little bit more, he’ll he’ll have openings. But right now it’s going to be it’s going to be it’s going to be tough on him, right? So I’ll just stay in the shell drill then. Yeah. I mean because they don’t have I mean until D Fox comes back I mean once D Fox comes back then or Harper if he come but right now if no if if nobody around him can make shots then it’s already it’s you know you just going to if you think about him if you think about him not doing nothing too. If he turning and he’s trying to do one-on-one [ __ ] while they’re playing twoon-one they doubling and they’re waiting on him to put it on the ground it’s not going to help him to just be jacking up shots. So he’s got to be patient and wait and see guys flashing, slashing. Everybody got to cut on the we side. Coach got to give up more schemes. Got to figure it out. What’s his arm? What’s his arm length? He got a little quicker shot. I like because there’s it’s just it’s just things that he just doesn’t do that just make there’s there’s no team besides Houston. Uhhuh. Or Giannis with Milwaukee. So no, not even Giannis and Milwaukee. You’re talking about Orlando who got a bunch of 610 611 guys that can play front and back. There’s no way Atlanta got there’s no way Suns was allowed to play front and back against you. Yeah, for sure. First of all, the [ __ ] in front of you is too small, right? But what ends up happening sometimes is they don’t throw the they throw the ball to he he be holding right here. They don’t know how to do regular like where you throw it like I don’t give a man. You better put your goddamn hand that high. Let me throw it up so you can uh 8ft wingspan. 8ft wingspan at 74. Meaning, slow your ass down a little bit. You’re moving too fast. Right? There’s somebody in front, there’s somebody in back. Right now, you see he’s here, right? So, he’s not going to jump. He’s going to try to put his ass on you, right? Throw it up. And when you throw it up, listen, you don’t need to try to make passes like this. Turning face, right? Hold it up. Turning face. Look. Look with your eyes. Stop trying to do one of these and you No. Turning face. God damn. Turning face. Now you can pick people apart cuz you can sit there and hold the ball like this. It’s like It’s like Mugsy ball down there. You can turn and face. Look. You can start picking people apart. There’s nothing they can do. You did that [ __ ] But because you play small when you have the ball, once you want to make your move, you play big. But once you’re trying to do your moves, you’re smaller. So play long. Catch it high. Keep it high. Look. There’s back doors that’s coming. You get to you get to you get to be you’re a pitcher, right? You get to sit here and pitch passes. What’s your scouting report for Wimby? What’s my scouting report for Wimby right now? Double team. No. No. We come in the locker room. We come in the locker room. You doing a scout. Lay the paper. Give everybody the paper. What’s your scouting report? What’s your scouting report for Wendy? My scouting report would be push him off the block. Push him off his spot. Oh yeah. Ruff him up a little bit. Help. Soon as he catch, we dig in on every dribble. We might double on every dribble if we need to, depending on if he’s making shots. I’m doubling on every dribble because it’s too it’s if he’s bringing the ball up the floor, we’re on the nail. We elbows in boxes. We’re making them shoot jumpers. What’s your scouting report? We do the same thing. We do the same thing to [ __ ] with Kobe and them too in the post. Melo, they still score 30 and 40 on us. I’m going to put our reporters let him catch it like you said, bump him off and when he make his move, we going to dig. If we look at the film now, they push they pushed him off the block and then they fronted the post. They got to make quicker decision and then made him made him throw it over top. The scattering report on him is you put a small guy on him. Yeah, that’s what they That takes away his power. His superpower is he can dribble and make moves and create his own shots. So you put a three, taller two, but you put Vando and Ruie on him, right, where he can’t put the ball down, which now takes away that part of the game. If he tries to do pick and pop and pick and roll, you have a guard under him. He’s not comfortable catching and just shooting like that. That’s the weakness. His post up is the weakness. So down, if he wants to take this guard down there, right? Because he doesn’t know how to turn and face and shoot, he’s going to want to put it down. That’s when you dig down. So you you put a smaller guy on him, right? You put your Vandos on, you put your Ruiz on them. [ __ ] they even had Marcus Smart on him, right? Because he’s not going to take the Caruso is going to guard him, right? They’re not going to put whole check on. They’re going to put a Caruso or or Dort on him to take away his dribbling powers, right? You’re going to take away his dribbling, right? So, he can’t sit there play with the ball. Then he’s isolated in a game that he don’t even have yet. That’s the scouting. That’s what Phoenix did. That’s what Lakers did. You got to get strong. I’m not going to put my big man on him. So, the first four games, what teams allowed him to do was go one-on-one against the big get comfortable. And they didn’t they didn’t clog the paint. They didn’t close the lanes. They didn’t help on the nail. They didn’t dig on the dribbles. To me, what I’ve been saying is this is old school. This is defense. This is re the defense that the NBA has tooken out because we haven’t had threats like Wimby that make you say, “Listen, man. Let’s get back to the old school shell. He’s killing us with this. Let’s shrink the floor. Let’s make those guys beat us from the outside. Let’s make him take tough shots.” Nothing at the rim. Oh, yeah. the way he’s playing against San Antonio against a big like him. Not San Antonio, but just a big player. If it was Joel MB, you you would want to play it the same way. I’m working against you. They don’t use it on Joel, but you would want to. If you go back to it, you be like, “Yo, this how we going to play Joel. Yeah, but see you. Joker’s a better passer depending on if them guys are cutting on the weak side.” See, and I was just about to say that. That defense work that defense will work for Wimi right now, but not everybody though. It works on Wimby until he understands until he he just needs to He just needs to look at film. He just needs to look at film and watch how he plays and then understands, wait a minute, because I’m trying to beat him off this, I don’t need to. Right? If they play small, I’m not even going to put the ball down. I’m just going to shoot these jumpers. Or if they put somebody big, I’m going to He has to have an offense. This is when mastery comes. He has to have an offense for each type of player, right? When I when I had when when Tony Parker or uh Earl Boykins or TJ Ford guarded me, I just posted up and shot over them. I didn’t play around with it. Don’t play around. He’s trying to show what he learned off. Yeah. Just boom. I’m just shooting these shots. I didn’t do none of that. When I when I play the defense, I score. I mean, I I beat them off the trying to see what the defense is throwing at him. That’s the patience where he’s like, “All right, what are they doing now? They did this last time. Damn, they not doing this.” I believe he just needs to trust in the shooters on the weak side who need to get better. If you think about Luca, if you throw some [ __ ] at Luca, what Luca going to do? Score. He going to throw that [ __ ] to the weak side and they’re going to make the shot or score. I mean, or score or score. But this Yeah, I hear you. I’m saying he’s You have to find Oh, no, no, no. I’m giving him that. that. But this what I’m saying like when you find that open man that you got confidence is going to knock down that shot and it ain’t Sohan or Castle and you look different as a offense. Now the defense has to adjust. Hey man, we can’t keep running this coach. They killing us on the backside. That used to be Bruce Bowen in that corner knocking that [ __ ] down. That used to be Matt Bonner at that [ __ ] elbow knocking that [ __ ] down. So if you don’t got them knock down shooters that’s knocking that [ __ ] down for Tim. Yeah. It’s like, yo, what are you doing? We winning as a defense. Wait, hold on. So, we said because it’s his third year. I’m not saying that. I understand what he’s saying, but they do last year. So, wait, hold on, hold on, hold on, wait, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. Last year. Hold on, hold on. Cuz he 18 still getting buckets, huh? You about to say cuz he’s 18. I’m saying. Yeah. Yeah. I was about to go back to that Cooper flag because why are we giving him some some grace? Because it’s his third year. and Cooper flag being average still though. 20 this season. The average 20. They I I I just You can’t run that defense that they did against uh Wimby. You can’t run that defense against Giannis. You’re not going to be able to run that defense. You’re not going to be able to run that defense cuz if you could, you would do what I’m saying. You’re not going to run that defense in January against him. So women’s averaging 26 and 13 still. Okay. You know what I mean? You’re not you’re not going to be able to run that defense when Fox gets back. Well, no, for sure not. Yeah. You know what I mean? It’s it’s you have two shooter. You got two your two guards aren’t flatout shooters, right? They still need tweaking in this offense, right? This remember he got here. They’re still trying to figure what he is to then bring pieces. Once they get the pieces that he’s going to need, then you will see his full game. Even if he has flaws, you won’t be able to exploit them because these passes, you trying to double off of them, they don’t exist. Right? when when I get the ball and you try to double off the guard, that’s Fox now. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You know what I mean? So, there’s a there’s there’s still pieces that they need to pick. It’s going to be just how LeBron James, right? When we talk about LeBron James’ teams being sorry, they’re sorry to us as in the players, but they was doing it. But what they’re skilled at keeps everybody honest. Yeah. You have a Cal Corver, you have a Booby Gibson, you have um a Mo Williams, right? have you have flatout shooters where you try to double cuz this guy averages six but they’re two threes he’s shooting 55%. right there. That’s those are the plays that are things that happen. That’s my point. That’s my point about scouting report though. It’s contingent on who’s on the floor. If we if we the Phoenix Suns about to play them and we see them on the court. You’re the assistant or I’m the assistant. We like, “All right, look. We not going to scout them the way they’ve been playing them the last four games, we got to play them different because we see who’s on the floor.” Yeah. He We let him shoot. We letting him shoot, man. If he drive, you follow him with it. We gonna do We gonna double him off the top. back in the paint. So when Fox come back, Arper come back, we got to change our SC. He’s the only one that’s really actually he hitting a little bit. Deep Fox is going to help a lot. He’s n I’m about to say he should be happy. He hitting open shot. Yeah, he hitting him. But his age getting wide open up. That def pick is going to be it’s going to be different. But like you say, if we not doing that, if we don’t have that threat as a coach, I’m seeing that on the floor. I’m like, “All right, this is what we doing tonight.” JJ is not dumb when it comes to Sky Report. I don’t even do with him. You want to do pick and roll with Wimpy and uh D Fox. Why not? Yeah. Because now you have him what? Doing what? What do you want to do? Pick and pop. Pop. Not if we tell him to roll. I want him to pop. We tell him to roll. We tell him to roll. Get down there. I I can do a pick and roll with somebody else, right? My four and have him sitting in the dunker spot on the rotation. [ __ ] Let him be the unless somebody roll. You suck. I mean, yeah. I mean, if he wants to pick and pop, but if if we could tell him to roll and he rolls, what a guard going to do? Wouldn’t be trying to come off a pick and roll and they still the [ __ ] out of that so quick. Do it at the elbow. I mean, at that freed, but he got to get down in there now. I got to let him get down there as a guard. Right. You’re going to They’re just going to invert it. Yeah. Right over. I don’t need him in the pick and roll because now you talking about knees, people trying to run through them. you know, you know, guards get mad. We going to try to run through that, right? So, I just I’ll keep him I’ll keep him below the free throw line at a certain point. Let him play this in between game. Let him play high low like moves like that. How would you guard that pick and roll with Fox and Wimby though? How would you actually guard this if Wim is a guard? No. If Fox is coming off the wing, you say side pick and roll, corner, corner gone. No corner field. How are you? Are you switching that? Switch it. Yes. So you switch that to the guard small guard. Now what we doing after that? Are we throwing it in? Yeah. No, no, no. Because that other guard is going to be it’s going to it’s going to be rotation on the weak side. No. No. I’m going to switch it and then now Fox What is Fox going to do? Fox going to bring it out. Either going to throw it in. Exactly. Yeah. Yeah. So we going oneonone with Fox? No. We depends on how Fox See, Fox ain’t bred. We’re rebred. You take if I get you on a pick, I’m not going to now retreat back up to then go back at you. If you going to switch right here, I’m going to use the space you gave me to then go. Once they back up to retreat to then try to isolate this lobbies, it becomes a it becomes it becomes irrelevant. No, if I’m going past this big, say whoever guarding Wimby like three or four, let’s say the finish which would be a three or four. No, let’s say they did it like Phoenix. Phoenix plays small. Finn play small. Even Lakers play small. You got Bando on Wimby and it’s so Luca Wimby switch off this Luca. But then you got Marcus Smart rotating over who want that switch. That’s still a lob action for Darren Fox to go by for either the layup or the lob. No, I’m switching. I’m switching that pick and roll. Fox and Wimy’s guy. So if it’s Vando if it’s Vand let’s say it’s Vano and Marcus Smart, right? I’m gonna switch it to be regarding Fox. Be guarding Fox. And then I’m gonna hold Wimi. I’m just gonna hold Wimi up. And what is Wimi gonna do? I’m going to hold him up. No, I just hold him up. You saying you’re going to pass it to him? What are you going to do? You saying do this? You saying Fox not going to turn the corner on Vando? No. I mean, maybe once, but not like that. I mean, cuz Vando’s a he’s a defense. No, he’s a guard. He’s not going to turn. He’s not going to just turn a corner on him like that every time. Maybe once, but if he get him, it all depends on what side he’s coming on. If you back up, he could speed ass cuz yo cuz yo, just think about when they do the pick and roll with Dort. I want you to back up with Dort and Caruso. But that’s like me. That’s like too though. You would want that big on you. But I never backed up. Oh, I did. Or that’s why I understood. I understood if I took the pick and roll and they switched out. Remember, they didn’t hard show. The switch is level level. So, it doesn’t make me retreat. So if I’m at the pick and roll, like John said, if I’m at the and I do this pick and roll and then you switch, I’m still free throw level. Yeah. Remember, my first step is fast. So now I got a slower guy on me. I’m attacking from the free throw line. I’m not backing up to the let everybody load over. So tell me about this play here. All right. We got side pick and roll. He rolls to the block, swing it, the wing uh the corner guy comes to set a cross screen for Wimby to come across to make sure that now Marcus Smart is not guarding him. Right. So you got Darren Fox, Wimby, Wimby rolls. Now Marcus Smart is on Wimby. We don’t want the high low. We swing it. Swing it. The the the corner guy comes across to set the cross screen for Wimby to go to the block. That corner guy is now guarding Wimby because they’re switching everything now. We don’t have Marcus Smart on Wimby. We probably got Austin Reeves on Wimby. We got Ruy on Wimby now. Ruie would be the guy that they’re swinging it to at the top from D’Ang he’s swinging. So it wouldn’t be a forward on forward screen. It’ll be a guard a guard a guard center screen. Now if you got Marcus Smart guarding Wimby he’s got to switch out to the other guard. And now we got like we got a Luca or Austin Reeves guarding Wimby to turn and shoot like you said initially. Now I can catch turn. Not a trap. You can’t track cuz we moving too much. I know what you’re talking about. I know what you’re talking about. Fast movie talking about Remember. Let’s treat Let’s treat it like this, right? You’re talking about There’s three people over here. This is the pick. This is the pick and roll right here. Look where the traffic is. You’re going to do a pick and roll. He’s going to roll. Then this bottom guy is going to set a pick for him to go over back over here. So, we’re going to So, I’m going to swing it and swing it. He’s coming here for the post up. It’s too much [ __ ] going on right now. My brain I No, no, no. going to slow it down for you. You know what I’m saying? Yeah. Slow this. Slow it down, man. I get it. It’s You thought it’s a side napkin, please. But I get what the pick and roll is here. He’s going to roll. Then this bottom guy is going to set a pick for him to go this way. Right. You got this guy who’s going to catch it, pass it, pass it. Right now, he’s in traffic. Now I already done inverted this. Hopper’s not playing. Hopper. What I’m saying is I done invert. If all you can do this play one time before I realize what you’re doing and then if this is Ruy guy, we’re just going to invert. Ruy, you take the back. You take the you take the cross screen instead. Muck it up, too. Yeah, you’re going to muck it up. So, we talking about All right. Side pick on me. So, we got De’arren Fox right here. We got Wimi right here. Mhm. Right. We got guy over here. Guy high. This pick and roll. Need one more guy. Uh, where would he be? We said not corner field. Yep. Yep. Have to put him right there. So I know him. So I know he can’t turn the corner, right? Yep. So Wimby comes down, they advance the ball. This guy comes across, sets that screen for Wimby to go underneath. This guy has to come down there, right? Yep. This guy could either cross around or he could just swing swing. They all just cluttered here. This usually is Matt Bonner because this used to be the play that used to run for Tim Dun Duncan, right? So pick and roll, roll, cross screen, set it here. Now you got here. Now let’s just say they throw it in to Wimby from here. He cuts through. Now he replaces. Mhm. Yep. Or you could do guard or or you could do pick and roll right here. He can do and you know. Yeah. It’s a lot of it’s a lot of option, but the movement allows the defense not to center in on Wimby. So he can actually make a move without them digging in the post. But Wim is going to have to be patient though and also be able to turn around like like Gil said because if Wimby just catches it and just get it to his move then this is execution. This is execution. Yeah, that’s more like game on the line because now what ends up happening in a play like that is a lot of [ __ ] is one I know you can’t turn the corner because you have three on one side. Right. So usually a play like that they’re going to it’s not for to turn the corner. They’re going to do a pick and roll and then they’re going to really pop back and then they’re going to try to stay on the same side because there’s no help. Yeah. Right. So you’re going to do the pick and roll. Pick and roll is full of [ __ ] I know I can’t pat I’m not going to swing it. I’m going to I’m going to do a pick and roll. come back. He he he he rolls and then repost right there. I throw it in and we try to go from there. At the top it be corner field. It be corner field. No. No. Once I go. So we go uh De’Aran Fox Wimby corner field. It depends on what this guy does though. This is this the elbow game on who that is. I know. But I’m saying if he if he goes he can go to the corner and you could be right here. But he wouldn’t need to here because this the corner field. So you coming off the pick and roll with Wimby. Wimby’s diving. Yeah. He’s going to come here and advance the ball. Yeah. Oh, that’s my bad. My bad. My bad. The guy that’s speaking will go right here. Corner field and then he comes and sets this screen. Boom. It’s like America’s play. You know, he can he can flash here. This dude has to This dude usually is a nail. This is how um a Utah Jazz used to run their defense. They used to make you pass that ball to him. This was a shot or a drive, but they never wanted you to finish the play. So I’m thinking for for Wimby to be effective want to do two to roll up for the top. That’s my street. Yeah, we used to get that shot all the time. I can tell you right now if you’re if if I have Castle or anybody catching that ball on that wing where where Castle’s here if Castle’s right there and this guy goes to set that pick, I’m going to tell Castle every time that defense player turn his back, run down his back. That’s what I used to I used to run down. But I’m going to tell you what’s going to happen. This is Shim. This is Penny. This got to be We’re going to say this is Penny. This is Castle. Hold on. We Castle cuz remember if they do do something here, Castle goes for the lob on the backside. I’m going to tell you what’s going to happen. Roll up. I knew you was going to say that. That’s my [ __ ] The roll up for the shot when he dives. He So you want Penny. You want Penny here? Yeah. I That was I’m saying make him play honest. All right. Cuz dude can’t help in that corner. Who doesn’t in this corner right here? Right. He can’t help bump. He can’t bumpy because Yeah, but he has to. That’s his They’re not looking to bump that. They’re not looking for that, dog. They’re looking for a cross screen that’s coming from here. Let me tell you what’s going to happen. But it’s a lot of action though, Gil. It’s a lot of action that’s happening. You talking about we going pick and roll here. Wayne be rolls. If this dude before he comes to set the screen, he has to help. He has to be here. He just got to move. He going to be open this quarter field. That was my shot. I don’t have the help. I don’t have the help. But you used to pass the WBY. But it’s Wimby rolling. But think about it. It’s wi rolling. The three people who’s doing it do all do what? Shoot the [ __ ] ball. Right. We all shoot the [ __ ] ball. So what ends up happening with this play right here, this man right here is the problem. Cuz what’s going to happen is once you swing it to that guard and this guy goes to set this pick, the defensive guy, I’m not worried about my guy now. I gotta make sure this guy don’t run, right? So, I’m going to make sure he doesn’t steal, right? So, if he goes low, I’m here. If he goes high, I’m here. I’m doing this already. Where’s my guy going to go? He has to talk to you talking about this guy. So, when he screens, you’re saying he got to help on the defensive players. He’s just going to step for sure. He has to because he has to meet Wendy when he comes across. That’s the switch we’re talking about. I don’t need to switch. Just I don’t need to switch. But no, because we have the live on the weak side. I don’t What? What? What? What? What? Live on the week. This is a pass to the screener. It’s screen the screener. Okay, here. Let’s hold You got a lot of ass in your face. It’s screen the screener. You got a lot of ass in your face. Let’s start from the point. Let’s start from the board up. Moving away like that, right? Offense, defense. This is offense. Defense, offense, defense. Mhm. Are y’all trying to Yeah. All right. When this dude When this dude to pick and roll and he comes off, right? Y right. R if he’s going to sit a little bit. He’s going to be here. So, this guy’s going to just sit here. Yep. Right. This guy is going to try to muck it up a little bit. Put the circle more on the wing. Put the circle more on the ring. He’s going to sit here. Once this ball goes here, this big man goes down here. Right. So, it kind of looks like this. Right. What ends up happening is this guy goes to set this pick. Yep. Right. This guy goes to set this pick. This So the ball’s here. He’s going to just sit your front. He’s just going to sit here. This guy’s going to go under or over depending on what the defense is. They’re coming together. This guy is all the way over here now. So you have kind of like this type of look. So this guy is paying attention to my guy. So I’m just going to sit here muck it up on this side wherever my man goes. If he tries to come up top, if he tries to go and sits because he has nowhere to go. This guy has nowhere to go after he sets this pick on Wimby. Yeah, he does. Flashes back to the ball. Then he can flash back to the ball, which my guard is there. No, your guard is not there. Your guard is going to be on the elbow. Your guard is going to be on the elbow. The pass that you’re going to we we want is to go all the way back across the lane because everybody’s once the ball goes here, everybody’s move. But that’s if I I’m keeping Wimi from the ball. If we decide to all depends on It all depends on if Fox advances the ball to that wing. That means we’re going to execute the offense. That means we’re going to go get get Wimby the ball on the other block regardless of what happens. I’m telling you exactly. I’m They’re going to buck it up. My guy is set my guy is setting the pick for Wimby. I’m sitting here, right? Tell me where my guy is going to go. You’re the bottom guy. I’m staying. I’m the bottom guy. I’m the bottom guy watching. You going to have to switch on women. I don’t have to do nothing cuz you’re not guarding anybody. Exactly. So now we flash back to the ball. So I know you’re not guarding. So that means you literally have to do this and turn back to the ball. That’s what they teach. Hello. Right. He’s already there. He’s already That’s why I said it’s already going to be mucked up. It’s not It’s not that close. I’m saying it’s not. Let me see. It’s not I’m in the I’m already in the way. I’m on the I’m I’m not moving nowhere because my guy turned his back. So the only thing he can do is try to set this pick cuz you got Wimby going under. The only thing he can do is try to catch that. That’s all. That’s only if if if Wim is trying to catch the ball on the block. That’s the only way it’s going to be munked up. So where are we trying to get Wimby the ball? Trying to give him the ball where he’s comfortable. Okay. So So he catches the ball right there off the block right there. That means that guy he’s talking about can no longer just be turned with his back to the ball. cousin. And if this Nick with the ball, Nick can drive cuz you’re literally there. Your back, your back is to him. I’m the defense. Your back is to Nick. I’m the defense. That’s okay. Look, you’re go with me. You’re with me. This is what’s happening. You’re with me. You’re set the screen, right? This guy has the ball over here. You’re my guy, right? So, you’re the corner guy that’s going to set the me. I’m the defense. You’re going to set a defense right there. I’m going right. You’re going to set a pick. You’re going to set a pick. guard. He’s guarding you. I’m guarding you. Guarding me. I’m guarding you. So you go all the way across the lane. All the way across the lane. Now get that seal on him. No. B. Seal. Gil. His man is there. His man. No. His man can’t be there. Because if he’s following you, then Nick just [ __ ] just [ __ ] was. I’m right here. Brandon, if you seal If you seal him. No. No. No. No. Seal him. Okay. Seal him. My man, my man, his man is with him on the double team, right? That’s a double team. Two [ __ ] So, where is this guy? So, so where’s this guy that’s guarding him right here? That’s what he said. He’s following you. You follow. You play Wimby, sir. Yeah, he play Wimby. You are guarding him. Guard. All right. The players are the balls over here. Pick and roll comes into me. All right. Right. You You coming for the cross screen. He’s coming for the cross screen. for me. You set him and seal him, Nick. Boom. I’m going BJ’s following. I’m here. Look at Look at Nick right there. Oh [ __ ] That’s not happening. That is not happening. That is not happening. First of all, the free throw line. That is not happening. You stay right here like what the point you’re over there. But I got both of y’all. I’m I’m bringing I’m bringing both of y’all over here. Go to the open spot. Which is the open spot. Spot in the middle. In the middle. Like this. Go. Right. Remember, this is a free regardless if you’re following me all the way over. This is the free throw line, right? Right. This is a free You’re going from free throw line to free throw line. You’re on the outside. I’m on the outside of the block. So, you’re going to his free throw line to set a screen. He’s setting a screen on the other free throw line on the other block. On the other block and you watching him block is like right here. You right there. Where you going? He’s focused on getting through. Why? He’s right there. Where’s the other two players? There’s another guy right here. The other guy is the the man that’s in the corner. This guy is there, too. He’s going to be open, guys. Corner going to be open. Corner has to throw all away from him. That man, [Music] fellas, hold on, bro. Yes. I’m right here. And that all that is the ball. Nobody’s open. You got two guys going. Remember this. Stunt and get back. Okay. We got back. I got the ball. Okay. Stunt. I got the ball. Stunt or stay. Talk. Long as we talking. We good. Long as talking. We good. I see it. I see it. I see it. I see a stil. Final final thoughts. We got a lot more to cover in this show, but do appreciate your guys passion, enthusiasm. This is the This is crazy. This is the defense. Where where after you set this pick where I see you’re just you’re just on Swaggy. G. Can we show the audience with your with your swag number two? Yeah, you So NBA on Prime has the LED cord, right? So this guy this guy has to make the play, right? I’m standing here to make sure he don’t drive. Wendy’s coming here. You’re saying you got your back towards this guy. You’re saying you got He can’t even see it. I You’re got You’re setting the pick, right? I’m here to make sure there’s no ducking. Make sure no driving. So where are you going to go? Right there to the open spot. What open spot, Nick? Remember there’s no open spot. What I’m saying is where you going to go? Think about where you got to go. I’m asking him where he’s looking at. Where you going? You’re going to try to duck back through here. I’m on the high side. This is me. This is him. This is still this guy. We have you in a triangle defense because what we want you to do is we want you to go all the way over here. We want you to throw this ball weak side because you as a screener don’t because it’s not like that because it’s not like this guy’s going to come down and set a pick for you to come up. He’s going to hit a he could but he could hit a three right there cuz y’all so focused right there. All you got to do is roll up. All you got to do is roll up. You give a person that much space. Have y act like we [ __ ] Is that easy? How far you need somebody and you want somebody away from you to shoot the ball? How far? How far right here? Contest, right? That’s too late. Too late. It’s still remember who’s on this team. This is Castle and the vessel. These are the guys that we are. That’s them two players up there. This is not okay. But we saying we saying if it’s a shooter, we shooter. You still think he is a shooter. You’re not helping that much. You got castle throwing again. You’re not helping at the free throw and I’m at the top of the three like this. You’re not with You’re forgetting where everyone else is. All right, man. You’re trying to have the screener go set the screen. That’s why it doesn’t work. Y’all didn’t run that play. No, but I didn’t play. I gave it to you. Ran it with Al Jefferson. I didn’t work without Jefferson again. That’s why because you had telephone and I’m not just going to sit there because you all see I’m talking about don’t talk about me on the I’m trying to tell you we No, but wonder why we kept smacking. No, this is about the Spurs. Because your guy who the screen I’m thinking with the guy who the screen has nowhere to go if the play is not for him because then I just sit. Now, if you try some tricky [ __ ] where the guy who’s setting the pick on Wendy is getting another pick down, that’s America’s play. Even if that tried that, we have to jump on his wing jump switch. It It’s a dumb play. It’s been a dumb play. That’s why they don’t run. We get the whole play is to get Wimby the ball. That’s a play for a very a very stellar Wimby discussion, but we got to keep this thing moving. We did ask the chat that too with We did ask the chat. Give it up. Give it up for everybody. Nobody’s posting up. I appreciate it, y’all. Gentlemen, you see what I’m saying? Nobody’s posting up. Draymond was postcoy. He was the decoy. But not the decoy in this position. I know. I know. Wy’s the dude that’s going to score it. We used to have [ __ ] layup. He was making [ __ ] I’m saying with shooters. I’m talking about what I would do like what we did. We did that [ __ ] But we [ __ ] that was our play. You set the pick for Brendon. We’re not paying for Brennon. We’re going to set the down pick for you to come up. But if Brandon was open down there ceiling, you throw it to him. He going to dunk that [ __ ] cuz he’s right there. I’m standing there. He’s right there. If you’re standing there, that means you’re you’re bad cuz we’re coming up. Someone’s open. You better pass. Someone’s open. So, so why we why did we create a play for the bottom guy to go back up top to shoot the three is because the was sitting here because right they’re just sitting here. So, uh your man is sitting here so we going to run me come down set a pick on you and your guy comes up. That’s where you get the top of the three. If they didn’t guard it right, Brandon was getting a dunk. If they didn’t guard it the way they needed to for you to come set the screen and come off the screen. No way you’re getting a dunk because I’m the guy whose guy who’s setting the screen dog is just sitting there looking for. But if if that guy is chasing you, if I if I say I’m not going to stay here and wait on Brandon cuz they’re not going to throw it to him and they’re not going to dunk it. I’m just going to stay with mine. Hey guys, I’m staying with Gil all the way. Oh, now you’re changing the defense. No, I’m saying if you’re the guy that’s going to stop here because you know that y’all are switching back trying to give it to Wim. If we’re not going to give it to Wimi, that means I can stay on you because the play’s for you. If you’re not giving it to Wim, there was no point of running that play. It was two sausages in the fine fan. So, we asked the chat, has the NBA figured out how to stop Wimi? 70% of the chat says no. Let’s please keep this thing moving. 1. The irony of this segment is they are telling Wemby to use his competitive advantage to dominate but then criticize Giannis for not having a “bag” 😂

  2. Gil is 1000% correct. It makes no sense for the tallest man in the League to play small ball. It’s like an average sized man getting on his knees to fight a midget.

  3. I been watching basketball over 40 years. I even played on a park level. I fully understand X n Os but this is stupid to me. Coaches know this n they try to implement it n it doesn't work. Its not at all simple as X n Os or everybody would be a great coach with great records. Its never that simple. They wasting their breath just trying to show off their basic basketball knowledge. MY OPINION

  4. Yeah let's talk about basketball the X's and O's, breaking down plays, the stories and just real hoop. Stephen a Smith and these other want to bees could never be this. Former players know the game and know what it takes to do these sports. I don't see how anybody watches ESPN other than watching highlights and real games.
