The NBA trade deadline is months away, but the Knicks are still planning for it. And according to new reports, New York is keeping an eye on the trade market for bigs. Shout out to SNY’s Ian Begley for giving us this following information. He answered the following question on the latest edition of his mailbag. A fan asked him the following. Could the Knicks be open to trading for a backup big man to get more depth with Mitchell Robinson missing lots of time and Cat playing through an injury right now? According to Ian Begley, he answered that question with the following response. I think they have to keep an eye on the market given Robinson’s injury history. They would love to have him healthy in the postseason, but they have to prepare for other options. So, I’m sure that they will keep an eye on the trade market for bigs. And we have to understand why the Knicks are doing this. New York wants to keep an eye on the trade market for other big men because they know Mitchell Robinson and his injury history. Obviously, like we saw against the Minnesota Timberwolves, when he’s available and he’s healthy, he can be gamechanging for New York. But when he’s in street clothes and he’s on the bench and he’s not playing, he has no impact for anybody. And New York is thinking about those moments. Now, of course, they have Trey Gson, they have Ariel Huckport, but you know how New York is. They always look to get more veterans on this team. But for me, I rather not bring anybody in. I rather utilize who we have. Ariel Huckporti, he is born to play this backup center role if he’s given the time to develop, make mistakes, and actually play minutes. But at this point, New York has a goal to win an NBA championship. And for them, that means preparing for the worst. The worst for them is losing Mitchell Robinson or Robinson missing a ton of games. If that’s going to happen, they’re likely going to want a veteran backup center on this team to help fill in and pick up those minutes. Even though I don’t fully agree with that approach, I understand why New York may be going in that direction. Now, the next question is, what’s going to make them make a trade? Are they already planning to make a trade or are they waiting for something to happen during the season that pushes them to actually make that trade? Well, according to Ian Begley, New York is likely going to make a move either way. However, depending on their record and how they’re doing during the regular season, that might determine the type of move they make. Shout out to Nick Central for asking Ian Begley the following question on the latest edition of his mailbag. Do you expect the Knicks to be active at the trade deadline? Active as in normal trades, not a Giannis level deal. According to Begley, he answered with the following response. I would expect them to be active simply because this is viewed as a prime opportunity to reach the NBA finals. If you are looking at this season through that prism, I assume you will be searching for opportunities to upgrade the roster in early February. If the Knicks are playing well, I’d expect them to pursue moves around the back end of the rotation. If they are not playing well, we will probably be having a different conversation ahead of the trade deadline. For me, that sounds like that if the Knicks are not playing well, we’re going to see massive changes to this team. Nobody wants to see that. So hopefully the Knicks continue to play well. So there’s no way to escape this. Whether you wanted the Knicks to make a trade or not, it sounds like they are going to make a move. Whether it be a lower level move or a mid-tier move, they are going to make a trade because they want to maximize their opportunity to win a championship this season. And I think we all can understand that. But here’s the thing. If they can’t get a backup center or a backup center that is available, they just don’t want, are they not going to make a trade or are they going to look at other options? Well, according to Begley, once again, New York may look at other positions, potentially the backup point guard position. According to Begley, Miles McBride is so important for this Knicks team. When they were considering trades during training camp and preeason, they never seriously considered trading McBride. So, McBride will not be traded. Not at all. I know a lot of you guys in the comments, I see your comments. I respond to a lot of them and many of them have Deuce McBride being traded for another player. So, we can shut all of that down right now. New York probably could have traded Deuce McBride, but they shut it down. And now Ian Begley is telling you point blank, New York does not want to trade Deuce. So, stop including him in all of these trade fantasies that I see in the comments. He is not being traded. Let’s continue here. That tells you how they feel about his value on this roster. McBride is more comfortable off the ball. That’s one reason why Tyler K was getting minutes earlier in the season. Maybe the Knicks ultimately look for a veteran ball handler to fill that role off the bench. Or maybe Koh plays well enough to keep the role himself. Well, we’re eight games in right now and I think it’s safe to say Tyler Kak is not going to be the Knicks backup point guard. New York is playing a nine-man rotation. When Mitchell Robinson is there, Gerson Yabaselli, he barely plays. And then when Mitchell Robinson misses a game, Yabaselli’s minutes, it increases a little bit. But Mike Brown, he doesn’t look like he’s going to extend the rotation to some of these younger players. Maybe if the matchup presents itself, and he feels like one of these young players can thrive in that matchup. Maybe he’ll make the adjustment and the switch at that point. But right now, it does not look like these young players are going to crack this rotation because Mike Brown found a rotation that works for this team. And it’s really hard to argue with the results that we’ve been seeing. The bench, they look dominant. The starters, they look dominant. The ball movement, it looks great. The defense, at times, it looks great. The shooting at times, it looks great. The aggressive play at times, it looks great. The only issue I have with this Knicks team is consistency, putting it all together for 48 minutes. But as soon as they do that, they’re going to be an even better team, an even stronger powerhouse that we’ve not seen before. And I can’t wait for that. But that begs the question, if New York looks that way, do we really need to make a trade? I think if an opportunity presents itself where a certain player is available and that player is very talented, Leon Rose, he will make a move to get that player on this team because remember this season very important. But Leon Rose, he does not only make moves for just this season. He’s a future thinker. He makes moves for this season and the future. So maybe he makes an addition that nobody understands until this off season. And shout out to channel sponsor FanDuel, America’s number one sports book, for giving us this updated information and these latest odds on who’s going to win the Eastern Conference this season. And as you can see, the Cleveland Cavaliers are still on top. They’re at plus 210. Then the New York Knicks, they’re right behind them at plus 380. Then you have the Orlando Magic, they’re at plus 750. The Philadelphia 76ers at plus 850. the Celtics at plus,100 and then rounding out this list is the Atlanta Hawks and they’re at plus 1,200. These odds only add to why New York is likely going to make a trade. They know this season is their year to go all the way to the NBA finals. And when you know that and when you know the Eastern Conference is very weak this season, you need to take advantage of that. And sometimes the advantage is waiting at the trade deadline. And you never know until you start looking at the deadline, looking at the players who are likely going to be available and who you need, who you want on this team. The Knicks, they need to start preparing for those moments because the postseason is the most important thing. New York already knows that given the treatment to Mitchell Robinson. And since that’s the case, I expect New York to make more cautionary moves. That means preparing for the worst. Maybe that means going to get a backup point guard. Maybe that means going out there and getting a veteran backup center because you never know when an injury can hit and when you’re going to need that player. And having some backup, having insurance is never a bad thing. And under Leon Rose, that’s clearly the direction he wants to go in. But what about you guys? What do you think about New York potentially targeting backup centers to add to this team at the trade deadline? Let me know how you feel about that in the comments section below, guys, because honestly, I would love to hear from you. But that’s going to do it for this episode. I hope you enjoyed it, and if you did, go ahead and smash that like button, leave a comment below, and of course, guys, please subscribe to the channel. 1. So we spent the of season just to be guard heavy, cut Moses Brown or whatever we did, signed Jemison & Huk, Jemison was big booty cheeks for my Lakers, Huk is the better choice but apparently Mike Brown & company forgot he exist but somehow keep remembering Yabusele does, so much for adapting 🥱 I told you Troy, all that ish Mike Brown talking sound good but let's see if it holds true. They just letting Huk waste away on the bench, yep I swear Knicks are just like the Lakers, they will prioritize vets no matter how trash they are over good young talent 💀🤦🏿‍♂️

Knicks shoulda been got rid of Robinson last year, personally I said the year before that. Y'all can glaze his defense all y'all want but what good is it when he misses more then HALF the season, people are biased & thinking with their hearts, not their head, it's like a abusive relationship, everything points towards moving on but instead you stay there knowing it's hurting you & now once again his injuries & stuff is coming back to bite us, we better trade him for a TWO way center.

  2. I forget, is Huckporti still on this team?? Wtf Give him the chance to prove himself!! If he’s not the answer, trade him for a veteran point guard.

  3. Why are they targeting back up centers when they have aerial Hukporti? When they really needed a backup point guard. They should’ve taken Russell Westbrook when they had the chance.

  4. Thank you for coming around recap, we are a contending team, and we need vets who are ready to contribute, build or maintain leads, and not hurt the team because they need to develop. They will blossom in the G league.

  5. Troy, you Know, i Know and the New York Knicks fans Know > theres only one person & one person only Da 7'2" Freak Moses Brown, the Best Center in the NBA today and they'll become NBA Champs if…
