Tennessee Titans fan goes insane after week 1 loss to the Denver Broncos

Okay, Titans week one game just ended. Lost to the Broncos. God help me. Here we go. Deep breath. On the surface, you would look at this game and say, you know what, the Titans were the biggest underdogs of week one on the road against a top five defense with a rookie quarterback. They lost a one-score game. On the surface, you would look at that and think fine. Nothing nothing wrong with that. They didn’t get destroyed. They didn’t get mauled. They they hung in there and lost a one-sore game. That would be fine. But let me tell you why it’s not fine. Because we didn’t lose the game because of our rookie quarterback going against a top five defense. We didn’t lose the game because of that. He had one huge mistake, and I’ll get to that in a second. But the main reason we lost this game was because of our coach. All off seasonason, what did I tell you? My biggest question mark with this team is Brian Callahan. I do not have a warm fuzzy feeling about Brian Callahan. I said it all summer. I said it all spring. And to be fair, so did so many of you. Is his seat warm? Is it a little warm going into the season? His seat’s on fire after today. the the coaching malpractice, the play calling malpractice on full display. The sequence before the half, you get the ball in a goal to go situation at their 5 yardd line. You don’t trust your quarterback enough that you picked number one overall. You don’t trust them enough to try to make a play down there. Instead, we’re going to run a jumbo set with Julius Chestnut. We don’t trust our quarterback down there. But then we’re going to get the ball back inside our own 10 yardd line with 50 seconds on the clock and we’re going to try three straight passes. Nearly got a safety. Ended up punting it back to them with plenty of time and they scored a touchdown right before the half. That sequence was so humiliating for him. That’s going to get national media attention. You are going to have national media talking about the idiocy of that entire sequence by Brian Callahan. But it doesn’t stop there. You got the beautiful back shoulder throw from Cam Ward to Elio Manor that he caught. Elbow clearly came down in bounds. Does Brian Callahan challenge it? No, he doesn’t. Shawn Peyton was challenging everything. Shawn Payton was throwing red flags like it was his job because it kind of is. Brian Callahan watched his wide receivers’s elbow come down in bounds for an obvious first down on first and 20 and decided not to challenge it. Did we throw it on one first down today? Play action anything. No. Didn’t matter what happened. Our defense/ special teams got four takeaways today. We won the turnover battle four to one and lost. We didn’t even score a touchdown. How does that happen? Coaching malpractice. Some of the same What did I tell you guys at the preseason and you all got upset at me? I saw it in some of the preseason games. Some of the ghost of Callahan’s past still there. penalties, pre- snap penalties, turnovers, which weren’t a problem today because we won the turnover battle for nothing, for absolutely no point whatsoever. Four turnovers and we got six points off of it. But I said during the preseason, some of these ghost of Callahan’s pass and they were on full display today. penalties out of our anatus. Penalties out of our anus. And I’m a Christian and that’s why I’m going to keep it at anus and not anything else. Penalties galore. Pre-nap penalties, stupid penalties, personal fouls, special teams penalties, you name it. Awful. Awful. No better than last year. his seat’s on fire and you can just go ahead and get ready whenever the off seasonason rolls around and I know we got 16 more of these games. We got a long way to go, but whenever that off season rolls around, you’re going to have a fourth straight off season of looking for a new head coach or GM. Fourth straight. Because the Titans fired Robinson, then they fired Rael, then they fired Carthon, and now they’re going to fire Callahan because that’s what incompetent organizations do. Do you remember what I said when they fired Carthon? Why not just fire Callahan, too? Let’s bring in a completely new regime. New GM, new head coach, new quarterback in the draft. But no, we believed in Callahan. We believe that he’s going to figure it out. Well, he ain’t figuring it out. He’s not figuring it out. His play calling sucks. His coaching sucks. Awful. Let’s look at some of the other reasons why we lost today. Do you want to know what the most disappointing player on the team is for me right now? Calvin Ridley. What? All off seasonason we said, “Man, at least Cam’s going to have one good wide receiver.” Nope. He don’t even have that. $100 million for Calvin Ridley. $100 million. And he had three critical drops in this game. Three. Right in his hands. All of them. And the second one that was kind of he was having to die for it. And people are like, “Well, that was a tough catch. Shut up. He’s getting paid $100 million to make that catch. We didn’t bring you in here to drop three passes a game.” And he had some of these problems last year and we just assumed with, you know, with Cam it’ll be better, but it’s not. It’s not. Three drops by the guy who cannot drop passes. Him being who he is on this team. $100 million. No, you ain’t going to drop passes. Oh, yeah. Yeah, you are. You are going to drop passes, aren’t you? Right in your hands. He should be disgusted with himself. He should be about to vomit in that locker room right now for how he let Cam, I’m just so sorry, dude. Cam Ward, I’m so sorry you got drafted here. I’m so sorry because you saw it on display today like he went in there cool, calm, and collected. He had one huge mistake and it was a big one after we got the muffed punt. He took two sacks in a row and I know we had a new right tackle in. The offensive line was getting smoked, but still, you got to know to get rid of that ball to not give up at least our field goal that we had at that point because we love kicking field goals. You can’t give that up. That was a rookie mistake. Fine. That was a rookie mistake. He got sacked twice in a row. Got us out of field goal range. That’s on That’s a large part of that is on him. I know the offensive line sucked, but you got to know you cannot take two huge sacks in a row. Ruined our field goal. Outside of that, I thought Cam was cool, calm, collected, didn’t turn the ball over. I thought that in spite of the awfulness around him, he gave us some semblance of a chance to win. So, considering the situation that he’s in, uh I I don’t I don’t know what more you could have asked from him today except for get rid of the ball on those two plays after the muffed punt. But the defense, I don’t know what more you could have asked of the defense. I know they got tired late and they gave up the long run and whatever and they gave up the touchdown before the half, but like I mean I thought Fimola Dejo played great. I thought Jeffrey Simmons with the exception of that stupid penalty at the end and I know it’s a tickytack call, but it’s a stupid play. Like Cody Barton had him stood up. Why even bother going over there pushing, why even give a possibility of a flag being thrown? You’re the guy on this team. You’re the leader on this team. Be better. But I thought the defense and I thought the special teams, I thought Chimray DK did a great job returning punts and kicks. The special teams outside of some penalties was much better than last year. There’s one area where they improved, guys. But offensively, I I don’t I just don’t know what I I don’t know what to do. I I don’t know what to do. Well, if we get rid of Rael, the offense will be better. Nope. If we just get an offensive-minded head coach in here, the offense will be better. Nope. Well, if we just go sign Calvin Ridley, the offense Nope. Well, if if we just go draft Cam Ward, the offense will Nope. If we just spend two straight years of first round draft picks on offensive linemen, then maybe the offense will Nope. No, it it never gets better. It’s never going to get better. We are in Calm down. Calm down. Calm. It’s week one. It’s week one. It’s week one. It’s week one. But the head coach is a problem. the head coach’s a problem and I don’t see that one getting better. The roster, uh, especially offensively, I mean, I just feel bad for Cam. Uh, not that he’s not going to make mistakes and not that he’s not going to have some share of the blame sometimes, but I mean, I just, how are you even supposed to grow? How are you even supposed to learn anything? Um, and last year our great hope was that maybe it’s just all Will Levvice. Maybe maybe it’s just all a Will Levis problem. Will was not good, but it wasn’t just him. Wasn’t just him. There’s a Callahan problem, too. And that’s bad news. So, I mean, listen, there’s 16 games left, and I never want to overreact about week one, especially being an underdog on the road against a top five defense with a rookie quarterback. I understand that. But, we had this. We had this. We had four takeaways. Won the turnover battle four to one. Denver was actively trying to give us that game and we refused to take it. Where have I seen this before? One year ago, probably right now, I was saying this about the Chicago game. Week one last year, they tried to give it away. We wouldn’t take it. The next week, week two against the Jets last year, they tried to give it to us. We wouldn’t take it. And now here we are. Who’s the common denominator? We got a new quarterback. We’ve got a new look offensive line. What’s problem? Let me just also say this and then I I’ll get off of here. Save the rest for tomorrow on the podcast. But Legious Sneeed, he played in the first half and they they had him on they had him on a snap count. So the snap count was we’re going to play him in the first half and not play him in the second half. I am glad football’s back. I’m glad football’s back, but uh we got the wrong coach. I hate that, but we’ve got the wrong coach. It goes back to last year and clearly looking at it today, stuff that’s no better. The roster is not great, but we knew that, especially offensively. But good lord, this was uh this was bad. This was bad. Now JC Laam’s hurt. Jarvis Brownley’s hurt. God help us. Bye.
