Leafs and the Pittsburgh Penguins meeting for the first time this season. Teams going somewhat opposite directions. The Penguins have caught fire and doing a great job of getting things underway in this season. The Maple Leafs have been spinning their wheels a little bit as they arrive here tonight as the puck is dropped and we are underway. He couldn’t get a shot at the net and Bobby McMahon skates it out at center and he’ll get it to his forward compliment and a centering pass in front. Oh, and a great save made by Jarry off the stick of Joshua. Matthews couldn’t take it off his skates and the Penguins will get it back to Crosby on right wing into the slot area. Pass in on goal and it was deflected by Hallander just wide of the net. Brian Rusk, Lone Ranger Rusk. A rush for rust is broken up by the Maple Leafs. Sound a little rusty there. Thank you. And over the line is uh Why don’t you try this for a couple of minutes? You think it’s easy, don’t you? How much do you make? I might give it a shot. Not as much as you think. Does the Leafs have the puck in the offensive zone? Centering pass in front was deflected just over top of the goal. Well, remember people say that about Matt Sundine. Now in over the line Crosby in on the goal and a pass intended there for Malcolin deflected just wide. Starting out of his own zone with a pass up on the right side. Kendall gets in. Kendall’s pass into the goal crease. A scramble and the puck came free. Leafs got fortunate there because one of the defenders slid right into the goalender. A pass in on goal and a shot. Deflects up high. I thought that went into the screen. Cleared to the line but not out. Pittsburgh keeping it in. And a good hit there by Bls man down against a lot of teams that missed the playoffs last year. Ben tried to carry into the corner but had it knocked off his stick. The puck comes to center. The Penguins with an oddman rush into the slot area and a shot scores. Eric Carlson jumping into the rush after Benois got trapped when he got knocked down. Carlson sweeps in on goal and rifles it home and the Leafs have surrendered the opening goal again. [Applause] That’s what’s really hurt the Leafs in the early part of the season is goals off to rush. Thomas Cino getting the assists on the goal. Penguins keep the puck in and a penalty is coming here. Latang into the slot area. Dished by Quavenven into the far side. A shot goes high in the air and now it’s down in the goal crease. And is it in the net? I don’t believe so. No. The Penguins are celebrating. The official was pointing to the goal. I don’t know where the puck is. seems to be underneath Stolars right now, but the Penguins are celebrating and Ben Kindle seems to be the one heading to the bench that he thinks he has scored. It went off the glove of Stallars high in our stick there. Yeah, I think that’s going to be waved off. Yeah, it was put in after video review. The call on the ice was confirmed as described. Thought someone else said that. Now a pass goes into the far corner and Matthews starts back up ice for the Maple Leafs. Matthews to the line and in left wing side it comes back. It goes to Matthews. A shot blocker save made by Jarry. Dakota Joshua couldn’t come up with it. Neither could Oel as it comes to the point. Latang shot got through and a good pad save made by Stallards. Cut off then by the Leafs on the boards, but then Brandon Carlo lost it and a shot deflects in on goal and a good pad save made by Stallars. Near side now for Ryan Sheay. Shay stick handles along the line. Got it back to the point. A shot was knocked down. Where is it? It’s underneath Stolars who was able to get a pad on top of it. Trapped inside the zone with Knander who gets to the line and gets out. Now gets it back in with a weak wrist shot. The puck comes in front of the net. There was a big rebound, but now a Leaf defenseman is trapped. Brought in by Pittsburgh and a shot. Oh, and that just missed the far post as Thomas Cino let it go. The Missaga native Leafs in their own zone ahead for Andre Raw gives the puck away. Malcin goal pad save and a brilliant one made there by Stars. Oh, what a giveaway and a penalty is coming to Toronto and it is one of the Penguins as it comes to Crosby. He fakes the shot tow in front of the net. A shot then by Malcolin that was stopped in front of the net. I don’t know if Stallar’s got a piece of that or not. Back to the blue line again. A shot scores. Kindle. Three nothing Pittsburgh. And the youngster has got two of them. Second power play goal, fifth of the season. Leafs just unable to clear it. The one time they got it out briefly to center ice. Weren’t able to get a line change in. You talk about just shoot the puck in the power play. Well, Kindle right-handed shot in the left wing circle had the time and space. Little toe drag and then beat Anthony Stolar’s blocker side short side around back of the net for Crosby. Back to the point. It comes D to Dean near side. Witherspoon with a shot and a stop made. And now we get Malcolin and McCabe shoving with one another. That’s pushed up against the end boards. No one has dropped a glove in the dispute with the Leafs and the Penguins trying to change. The puck comes to center. Long shot stopped there by Stallars as the Leafs couldn’t get it out and a pretty good hit on the far boards on Thomas Cino and this building is numb. Works to the line, gets it into the zone. A pass to the far wings and it put Oh, what a great chance that was. flips it into the near corner. Cut off there. The Leafs cut off the cycle and Matthews starts back up ahead for Knander. Knander to the line. Back in for Matthews. Matthews. A little tow drag move and the shot was kicked away by Tristan Jarry and a penalty coming here. Boy, I think Knander is going to get called for trip. Crosby coming out of the corner with it near side. Centering pass deflected right on. Big save made there by Stallard. Bronick trying to get a shot in. Had it blocked. Gets another shot. That was just off the mark by the rebound. Oh, and a brilliant save made by Anthony Stolars to get across and get a glove up and knock that away. Puck won by Toronto. Lead pass in over the line. Matthews got a breakaways in a goal. scores from the little acorns through the mighty oak and the Leafs are on the board trying to come back from a three nothing deficit. We may want to go back and circle that save by Anthony Solars as Austin Matthews somehow the Penguin defense lose track of him at the Pittsburgh blue line. Matthews takes the pass that originates in the leaf end of the ice. Knocked away by Jarry at the side of the net as Ny was there. Knander trying to dig the puck three out of a maze. Chopped back and now grabbed off by Matthews to the point. Wrist shot well wide. Chopped in front of the net. Knocked down by a backhand shot. Scores Knander. It’s three to two. Again, [Music] [Applause] Craig Maru chooses to double up with Willie Knander, Matthews, and Matthew Ny. Not a pretty one, but they continued to hound the puck. Won some battles behind the net. And when the puck bounced out front, Willie Knander was able to glove it down, go on his backand, and then knife it. Short side blocker side. It looks like the Penguins have called the timeout. Shot by Oliver Eman Larson. Went wide. Matthews back at the net trying to come out in front. Oh, and he had N there was just out of the reach. Then Knander on the drive and scores. Holy mackel. They tied the game. Willie Knander with a flash from the slot and it is 33. [Applause] Blaze had a great chance seconds before Austin Matthews from behind the net. Cavaris took the puck away from him and sends it ahead for Bobby McMahon. McMahon in on the wing. Stops it up. Flip pass into the slot. a shot and that went high off a stick and then back of the net off Nicholas Raw to the near boards and still can’t get it into the zone. Kendall turning back and a penalty coming here to Toronto. Brought out by Kendall. He has two goals on the night. Pass intercepted by Matthews. Matthews works back. He’s got a man going hard to the net. Matthews in with a shot and it’s blockered away by Tristan Jarry. Malcolm Holes looks in front still with it. tried to center. That was blocked by Benois. He gets it again. Malcin does a centering pass. Crosby. Swallowed up and stopped by Stallars. Here’s Carlson faking the shot off on the near side for Crosby. Down low to Malcolin. Back to Crosby now into the slot. It comes to Crosby. A shot. That’s not. The rebound was knocked wide of the goal. Joshua banks it back to the blue line. Wrist shot coming and a pad save made by Trista Jari and a lead pass. Penguins with a break in. Big save made by Stallars. Going to the net. Hard was Mantha. It comes in front. Stlars down again and he covers up. Fresh troops are arriving. Malcin in over the line on the right side. Drops it back. Going hard to the net. Was Kendall looking for his third goal of the contest. Robertson fars. Gets away from one. He comes out in front of the net. fan. They’ve got a shot away. Rebound scores. Bobby McMahon follows up on the garbage and pots it home to give the Leafs the lead. [Applause] Don’t think you could say that on the radio. Well, you can read lips. Hey, this is all Nick Robertson makes a move in the corner to elude a man. takes it to the front of the net. He gets it into the slot once more to the near side to Malcin. Malcolin shooting, knocked down and cleared into the corner. That bounced off goender Stallars and it comes back to the point. Carlson to the far side a shot that is blocked by a sprawling Brandon Carlo who’s limping to get up. Kindle at the half boards. Back to Carlson. 12 seconds. Guys trying to hang on here or the Penguins at the blue line on the far side. A shot kicked away by Stallars. 3 seconds left. They’re on the wing and it’s going to be over. Holy makad. They hang on after a marvelous comeback against Pittsburgh. Four unanswered goals. The Lisa a winner 4 to3. [Music] [Applause] The damage comes in a 10-minute 12 second span in the third period.
