Miami Heat Get Relentless Scoring From Jaime Jaquez Jr., Norman Powell, Wiggins and Pelle vs Hornets

Welcome on in guys. Tobin here with you and thanks for checking out the channel. Appreciate you guys. If you could subscribe that’d be great. And thanks for stopping by. Uh apologize for no recap last night. Had um family stuff that uh you know had an unfortunate passing on my wife’s side. Uh so I was out of town. Um but you know back in town. Won’t be boots on the ground tonight. I’ll be back on Monday in the Heats house for the Cavs games. um but you know after all the services I was able to uh to to catch the game on my phone and um and see what went down with the the Miami Heat who obviously were dealing with a very emotional day because you had the first game after Eric Spolstra’s house burned down. Uh I saw you know him go up there with his his three kids and this I mean just unbelievably crazy the emotions that must have been going through his head. Um, and honestly after they got the win, you know, the final score yesterday, 126 108, as I’m sure you’re all aware now by now, you don’t need uh those deeds from me. But, you know, seeing that quote from him to Ira after the game where he’s basically like, yeah, kind of just hitting me now, like I want to go home. And that was just like, oof, that that that was really, really tough. But an incredible wild ride this game was. I mean, first of all, the Miami Heat set a franchise record for scoring in a quarter. They put up 53 points in the first quarter. 10 threes. It was just an absolute barrage from the Miami Heat to start this game. It was crazy. It was crazy. I mean, this this Norman Powell, I mean, I I I like what I’m seeing. Obviously, he’s been tremendous, and you hope that he’s okay as we get into this game tonight. They hear right back at it tonight against the Blazers. But what a what a send this guy is from from the basketball. It’s like kind of feels like that he’d have been owed one like this after after you know all the turmoil of the last couple years and obviously what what happened with the Terry Roier trade. It’s nice to get one like this but dude this guy is just an absolute maniac scoring the basketball and he just comes out of the the game guns blazing. Just can hit smooth shot. Uh but that that three ball four-point play that he had that ended up turning into a flagrant uh it was crazy. It was just like and this team just could not miss. Everybody was just getting in on the scoring. Um and this was a game obviously the Miami Heat were were coming in. I know that the the Hornets were short-handed as were the Miami Heat. No bam bio. So Kell Wear got the start and you’re wondering like how is this team you know going to handle this? But it was to see what the the the amount of threes they lit up 10 from downtown. I mean that run where they had Fonteio, Drew, Wiggins all knocking shuts up from downtown was absolutely bananas. And then you had uh you had that, you know, Haime just get off. I mean, we got to get into Himeme, dude. This this guy’s incredible. Um Haime just like starts right off. Bang. Scoring off the window. Drew Smith with the snatch and then right to a Haimeh Hakis three ball in rhythm. Like he’s those trailing rhythm threes like he just doesn’t even think about puts it up. That’s like, you know, that that may be where it’s like right there for him. Um but then like starts off the second quarter, boom, he’s kicking a Wiggins for three and he’s getting right to the paint and the Heat’s up 26 points I think at this point. And then all of a sudden the Heat could not score. And you probably knew when you set a record in the franchise and I think it was the second highest of all time in NBA scoring, you probably are going to come back to earth at some point. But it was it was rough. The Hornets are are just chipping away bucket after the bucket and the Miami Heat went like five minutes without scoring. Woof. I mean, it was it was a real real real rough watch for the Miami Heat. And then in the middle of this, Norman Powell starts limping and you’re like, “Oh god, you already don’t have Tyler. Don’t have Bam. He’s in a walking boot, you know, which, you know, always makes you a little bit, you know, squeamish on where we’re at with that.” Um, and you’re just like, man, I hope they can get this thing together. I I I don’t know if I could I I could stomach something like this, but basically the Hornets got right back in it. By the time we got to halftime, he was only up three. Um there was a big time block by Haime Hawz chase down block and it ends up leading to Nico. So it would have given the Hornets the lead. Haime’s like so I don’t know. I think that it ended on like a 316 run for for the Hornets, but even still, you were just like you were going high to low real quick. And then the second half happens and I got to tell you, dude, this was I mean, I I I am just unbelievably impressed by what you’re seeing from from this Heat team. And to have a game like today where, you know, you’re already dealing with the adversity, everything that your head coach has gone through a traumatic event, you don’t have your best player, you go from the highest highs to the lowest lows, like how are you going to respond? And man, the between Norman Powell and and just his ability to attack and what he was just bringing the, you know, he went from the shooting to he’s driving and and the immediate first relief was like, hey, the third per the third quarter started, excuse me, and Norm’s out there and just like, all right, that’s that’s a great sign. You know, he’s going to try. Now, I don’t know what that means for today. I don’t know. Got a couple of tweaked ankles in this. Um but certainly I was like I was like man what’s going to h I was thinking in my head I was like is Casper Yakonas going to go in? What what’s going to happen here? Um wasn’t really sure Larson um maniac. I I really like the the the amount of attacking that the Miami Heat are getting now from Norm Pella and Haime is just absolutely absolutely relentless with what these guys are bringing to the table. They they just are are balls to the wall non-stop. Hela and Haime like the the the Heats Bash brothers just like flying towards the rim getting contact and you know it it’s really interesting cuz like I was like man I I felt like coming into this year these guys were going to be fighting for each other’s minutes but they actually have a nice dichotomy with each other. They really do. They play off each other well and it’s just like when you have even when you stagger them, you just always feel like you got some aggression and gravity going towards the rim and bringing it. Um, and I just I love that about those guys and as a duo of what they’re bringing to the table. It’s just it’s sight to behold. But dude, the play. Haimeme Hakez going out there and absolutely snatching the soul of everybody on the Charlotte Hornets, leaving poor Diabate just on the ground or Seion James, I’m sorry. leaving poor Cion James on the ground and then going at that giant Kulk Brener and Haimeh Hakez just leaves James on the dust, leaves him on the floor and the hammer that he puts down. I mean, it was something. It was something. And the whole family was in the in the hotel room uh asleep. So I was kind of just like this and so I had to be like but man that was that was so filthy. That was so filthy from Haime Hawkins. This dude’s just playing with with such a freaking swagger right now. It’s really really unbelievable. um the just the the the relentless pursuit that he has from this team. I it it’s just it’s so it’s so breathtaking to see and and he just is bringing a little bit of everything. And you know, even after that, he’s coming back, boom, banging off bodies, throwing it in. He uh he’s just relentless. He doesn’t fear playing on any contact. These are all just high efficient shots that he’s taken. Um, but man, I mean, just sitting James down and the hammer over the giant intangibles, I can’t I can’t get enough of it. I’m looking at it right now. I’m just like, this this is just breathtaking. Um, and really felt like it was that point where the Heat were just like, we’re closing up shop for today. Closing up shop for today. The one other thing that happened, so this was an NBA cup game and point differential is a big factor. So Miami ends up winning this game by 18, which puts them in first place in their group. It puts them ahead of the the Bucks who I think won by 16. So and Spo said after the game, he was like, “Yeah, I was playing for that.” Like, you know, we we’re going for this. And I like that. I wanted them to do this. I don’t love the NBA Cup, you know, it’s not like my favorite thing in the world. Um, some of these courts are just like I mean it’s like you’re on drugs. The Heat I like that they went a little bit better this year with the red outline with the the gold in the middle. I dig that. Um, but the, you know, last year just, you know, they weren’t they weren’t they were going through everything they went through. It just wasn’t it was not in the cards to win this this thing. Um, I still am not like part of me feels like the Heat’s responsible for it for making the finals with basically winning the playin and getting to the finals. I I feel like they’re part of the the reason this creation is here. But look, I do like the idea that everything that Spo is doing is is trying to bring some level of competitiveness to this. So, why not go for it? And to see how the team responded today. No. Bam. I thought Kell really good energy from him. Um, you know, there were those up and down moments, but today at three block shots, that big one that he had sent to the stands. Um, you know, it wasn’t the prettiest game from a scoring standpoint, but, you know, this is going to be the wave. This is going to be the wave. And I thought, you know, Nico played a lot better today. He was a plus 15. He kind of he cashed in on a lot of those buckets with guys finding him. Um, took care of the ball better. So I I just thought a better game overall from those guys. But yeah, the the the the the relentlessness of Norman Pal and the way that he started this game and then the second half to play on that ankle come at it. Pella Larson with his 19 points just a battering ram at the rim. Wiggins had his three ball going today. He’s been on a real Andrew Wiggins has been on a real hot streak, man. I mean, he really is in a comfort zone right now. he’s just pitching in at a big place. And I feel like, you know, last year the Heat were looking at Wiggins and like, hey, fill the Jimmy Butler void and it’s just like, you know, it was just awkward. And now he just seems so comfortable. He’s always there to chip in. Keeps the team when when those cracks need to be filled, he’s there. So, I really, you know, you can’t say enough from him. But you got 25 from Norm, 22 from Wiggins, 19 from Pella Larson, and then you had Haime Hawkins Jr. flirt with a triple double, 18 points, eight rebounds, nine assists, two block shots, just a demon. A flowyhaired demon. He has been incredible. It’s gooseies galore. Now the Miami Heat got the Blazers coming in town. We’ll see what this is healthwise. If either of them can’t go, maybe that opens the door for a little bit of Yakonis minutes. We’ll see. Uh Drew Smith is, you know, what can you say about Drew? I mean, just like it’s just everywhere influencing the game in those cracks, taking charges, forcing turnovers. Feels like he feels like he steals a possession back every game. Every game is Drew Smith like taking a he’s like, “Oh, you guys didn’t see that.” steals the ball on the inbounds and is like getting another possession for the Miami Heat. He does that. He is good for that once a game for sure, sometimes twice. Um he’s an absolute menace. Absolute menace. So, great job by the Heat. See if they can keep this thing rolling. Uh we will have a post reaction tonight, but um appreciate everybody sticking around. And um team’s fun, man. This team this team this team’s got some vibes to it. It’s it is it’s riding high and then all the emotions that they had to deal with with their captain being out with them playing for Spo and they were all saying this after the game just like how much it meant for them that he was there acting like he was like this game still is something to them and then you know seeing Spo there with his family I don’t know how you can’t get the gooseies over that like that stuff is it’s it’s it can be why sports is healing and can and can make people feel better. That’s that’s what that is. Um, still awful what happened exposure and he’s still got a lot of obviously building to do from this because, you know, that’s an awful thing that happened to him. But I think these are the the the the safe havens, I guess, that these guys can can lean into. So, nice job by the Heat. 26 108 beating the Hornets

  4. We are getting efficient production from Jamie, Pelle and Fontecchio this season.
    They all shooting 50%+
    Nobody saw that coming
None of them deserve to have their minutes cut when Herro comes back but that's what is going to happen.
Sorry not sorry to say but this team doesn't need a poor defender volume shooter in Herro.
The offense is fine without him.
This team really needs another big man that can defend and rebound
    Ware and Jovic have sucked.

This game was Ware's opportunity to take over with Bam out and he shot 3/12 with 6 rebounds! 6! Bro got out rebounded by Jamie. Insane.
Plus Charlotte had 19 offensive rebounds, this comes right after Denver had 21!
No matter how good your offense is you will have a difficult time winning games when you can't rebound the basketball and the opponent gets many more 2nd chance offensive possessions.Charlotte had 19 offensive rebounds, this comes right after Denver had 21!

  5. The Miami Heat are ranked end last in Offensive rebounds per game while also being ranked 1st in pace.

High pace = more possessions per game.
Yet still dead last in offensive rebounds per game.

That's how truly Terryble this team is at rebounding.

  6. Love the way the team playing but I need to see quality win against quality teams, we lost to Lakers San Antonio Denver which are better teams to see how good are we

  7. Tobin, thank you for the daily uploads man. Your passion and dedication to game recapping is unmatched and I always look forward to it. My condolences go out to you and your family πŸ™

  8. as much as our coach is one of the grittiest, most relentless, most disciplined, professional sobs out there, our team unfortunately is not. this heat is soooo soft. i watch houston and the title of grittiest has to go to them. hell even the spurs looks more blue collar than we do. the way those teams were fighting for every possession and guarding wemby, the amount of effort was light years ahead of anything we've showed, jaime and pelle included. and i'm not talking about talent, just pure effort. as much as this year has been a refreshing change from our slow ass unwatchabe play of years past, we've lost our defensive intensity. just look at how were outrebounded every game. so little fight in our guys. can't help but think if kelel and jovic were in houston's system and under that coaching staff, they'd probably vicious dawgs already. sadly we've lost that edge or that ability to bring it out of our players.

  9. sorry to hear about the loss in your family. As for the Heat, I doubt Jaime plays tonight after turning his ankle. Hopefully he won't be out for long. Idk if Bam plays tonight either. Powell also got injured but came back to play, so not sure if he plays tonight. Got some guys banged up and we were already extremely thin in the frontcourt to begin with. No wonder we got our asses kicked on the boards last night. But that can't be acceptable, everyone will have to step up and chip in on the glass
