OG is more valuable on our team but he wouldn’t move the needle for them. RJ has been solid, IQ was worth the risk given his upside… he’s just been hurt and was overpaid. Glad we didn’t give him that contract as much as I love him… think he may just be an elite 6th man combo guard
100%. The OG trade was one of the best trades we’ve made in the past 20 years.
I did the day we made the trade
Don’t think it was a terrible trade for Toronto, but I’d say we got back more. That being said I genuinely cried when we lost IQ and RJ I loved watching those two especially Quick
I miss Quickley a lot
It was a win-win but one side benefited more. I think Toronto was concerned they’d eventually lose OG for nothing.
I think it was fair value.
It looks better because Quickley has been hurt so much
I wouldn’t say fleeced. fleeced is the luka trade.
honestly RJ has been good for them the iq extension was their fault (just like the og price is high for us)
seems fair trade
Was it sadder to lose Quick or Donte
Karma farming, from Day 1 it’s been clear we got the better end of this trade.
Not really imo. Barrett is playing the best ball of his life in Toronto, and Quickley is still good when he’s healthy. Both teams did well, and I still wish those two the best, Quickley especially.
OG is an elite player, but the Raptors needed to change direction.
RJ is very solid for them and it’s IQ that is really still so inconsistent and doesn’t look like will grow into much more than a bench piece on a winning team.
Why does it matter? Both teams got what they wanted.
OG made it worth it, but the fact that we got so many useful minutes out of Precious made this a slam dunk.
The best player in the league for a couple role players? Sounds good to me
it is not a win win because for TOR RJ is a redundancy and doesn’t move the needle and quick is overpaid
I didn’t like giving up Quickley in the moment but with how it’s shaped out we made the right call in choosing who to let go of from our promising youth.
I’ll withhold my judgement until we win the chip.
I thought we fleeced them the second I saw the trade…
haven’t we been admitting this since the trade happened?
Belt to cheeks.
I never was a huge stan for any player ever until Shumpert came along. When he tore his ACL, I was legit sad. Then he came back and wasn’t the same and then he went to another team. Still hurts all these years later.
I felt the same about Quickley, sucks he got traded but it was for the better of the Knicks.
Still view it as a win win – but IQ has not lived up to expectations for them.
Was definitely a win for the knicks. For the raptors it’s kind of uncertain what they’re actually trying to do. But RJ has been very good. You could argue they could/should have tried to get more valuable picks for OG – rather than players, and embraced a tank.
It was a win-win. Both teams got what they needed.
I couldn’t stand RJ as a player so it’s been a double win for me.
Finally? Bro that’s been the case since we got OG
Both teams benefited and so did the players. Fleeced indicates they’re in a bad spot (TOR). Which they’re not
Once it was clear RJ wasn’t the guy, it was a great trade. You’re not winning a ring paying those two 70m.
RJ has been playing well. Quick has shown he isn’t a PG on a winning team and is better suited as a bench guard, in the stretches he’s been healthy enough to play.
Still not a fleece though.
Weird for anyone to call it a win win because Toronto hasn’t been nearly as good as the Knicks have been since the trade and they resigned Quickley for him to barely play thus far. Toronto would 100% move those guys if the opportunity presented itself, way less likely the Knicks would move OG
There are so many players that Knicks fans miss: RJ, IQ, IHart, Divo, Julius… I liked them all enough at the time, but last year we made the ECF, and the reality is the front office has made us a better team by giving up some of those guys, to get the right pieces in place.
And I wouldn’t say we fleeced the raptors, but ultimately we came out on top cause OG is a uniquely valuable player in the league
Why the obsession with “fleecing” other teams? It was a good trade.
Brother we been fleeced them
They weren’t going to be able to spend the money to sign OG anyway so they got something out of it at least.
This was a good trade for both sides. We got the young talent we needed, you got the established young prince. OG is a legend, we would have hated seeing him go through our rebuild.
Having precious as a throw in is such an underrated part of the trade
We didn’t fleece them. It was a great trade for both sides. RJ and IQ are playing well for the raptors, and OG is playing great for us. Fleecing means one side lost.
We did fleece them but I would have loved to keep quickley
Weird time to post this considering RJ is plying incredibly, Quick had his best game of the season last night, and the Raps are just one game behind the Knicks right now.
Definitely not a fleece.
RJ was a huge disappointment, we were lucky to be able to unload him on Toronto for a far superior player.
