  1. It’s so bad that it’s hard to believe but I don’t see why they would lie about this

  2. Whoever wrote this headline should be flipping burgers. Makes it sound like Harper did the threatening.

Should be: “Phillies’ Bryce Harper Allegedly Received Threat to ‘End up in a Ditch’ by MLB Deputy”

  3. Why is it that the people obsessed with calling out “disrespecting” are the least respectful people 🤔

  4. That’s one where I can’t even decide what I’m hoping for.

I hope an MLB official didn’t fucking say that to a marquee player’s agent because that’s fucked up, but I also hope his agent didn’t lie about that, because that’s just an embarrassing look if he did lie

  5. Has Bryce Harper ever felt less threatened then when some nerd from Rob Manfred’s staff said this to him?

Like seriously did he double over with laughter?

  6. How reputable is this? If this is true, holy fucking corn ball. Acting like the mafia because you’re one of Manfred’s goons.

    Absolutely pathetic.

  7. Could you imagine being all up on the commissioners cock that you would threaten someone who disrespected them😂

  8. Was *probably* said in hyperbole, but still an incredibly poor choice of words to one of the most prominent faces of the sport

  9. Fuck Manfred.

Bryce is awesome and I will always and forever be a fan of his. He gives no shits about Manfred and the joke that is the MLB office.

  10. Anyone taking the owner’s side in the impending lockout after next season is an idiot.

  11. People keep telling me the lockout/ labor talks won’t be that bad. Yea it is and its gonna be a bloodbath

  12. Oh yeah we are definitely getting a lockout in 2027 both sides seem to be very set in their ways on the idea of a salary cap

  13. I can’t picture a scenario where Bryce Harper doesn’t attempt to beat the shit out of the guy who said that to him

  14. What in the mafia LARP bullshit is this? Some little pipsqueak in the commissioner’s office thinks Manfred is Tony Soprano? Lmao

  15. Being this is a labor issue the “Deputy” should have been more clever. “That’s how people end up buried under Giants Stadium”

  16. >Phillies’ Bryce Harper Allegedly Threatened to ‘End Up In a Ditch’

The way sports betting has been bringing out the worst in people this isn’t surprising, something has to be done—

    >by MLB Deputy

    Oh.

  17. I’d pay money to see them try, Harper looks like he’d be willing to bit someone’s face off if pushed

  18. Manfred is a “corporate lawyer” by trade. Worst thing he could do is sue Harper.

If Manfred needs a “deputy” to stick up for him, he must be weaker then public realizes..

Hope the union takes owners to the cleaners.

For those clamoring for a salary cap in baseball, the players will never agree to one nor should they. Historically MLB owners have negotiated in bad faith. The players shouldn’t have to take less because some owners dont care to compete.

  19. Direct quote from this terribly-written article in case the headline was confusing: “Don’t ever say that again to the commissioner,” Walsh said, quoting what was allegedly said to Harper. “Don’t ever disrespect him again publicly like that. That’s how people end up in a ditch.”

  20. So in summary it went;

Manfred: “I want to pay you less”

    Harper: “Fuck off”

    Manfred: “I will kill you”

  21. Bryce Harper being ride or die for his union, despite having already gotten his and being taken care of, is fucking awesome. Unfortunately, there’s not pragmatic leadership on either side and Manfred especially is going to make these negotiations horrendous. He’s a miserable human being and will absolutely do everything he can to appease the owners at the expense of the players.
