Blake Griffin says Evan Mobley gave him his “it’s time to retire” moment

  1. Thats surprising. He was completely washed once he joined the nets and before mobley was drafted but with how bad the bucks looked vs that crippled nets team, it made griffin look playable at times.

  2. I’m so pissed, that lob city never won at least one chip. That team was full of potential.

  3. Blake was actually really good on that Celtics team, and I wish he’d stayed the next year to earn a ring. Anyone else remember when he hit like 7 threes against the Sixers to secure the C’s a victory during the regular season?

Also side note, but this tale kind of reminds me of Al Horford’s story of facing LeBron in the 2018 ECF.

  4. This is pretty much how my dumb 49-year-old ass feels at the Y after playing *one* game of 21.

  5. I like hearing these stories from players about when they realized they were getting too old for this shit. Blake and Nash in particular were amusing and self-deprecating.

  6. Mobley’s statline that game: 25 points, 17 rebounds, 1 assist with 3 blocks. He went 10 for 14 on field goal attempts 😭 He was only 21

  7. This line up is so refreshing. These calls are all that best of the best, but still care about the game, tell stories but don’t let their own egos get in the way of this new age of basketball.

  8. I remember he did an amazing job on one of the roasts, He sent Nikki Glazer straight to the plastic surgeon.

  9. I think Blake is the next face of the broadcast when Shaq and Chuck hang it up. Blake is fantastic.

  10. I end up watching Cleveland a lot every year and Evan Mobley has steadily improved every single year. Our matchup this season the rest of the team looked like ass but Mobley was in mid season form.

  11. This new media deal has been a blessing. Getting guys like Blake, Dirk, UD, Steve in front of the camera chopping it up on a cool ass set. This is what we needed.

  12. Blake Griffin was such an athletic freak in his prime. It was must watch for a while there.

Had the good fortune of being able to catch them play at Staples in the 100 section. There was something about him that the TV cameras just didn’t catch. This springy bounce to him while also being able to out muscle guys. He made NBA players look slow as shit. It was crazy.

Wish more came of Lob City. They were cool.
