We got acrobats, clowns, animal acts, cotton candy, popcorn, and Mickey Lumis. He is the ring master. It is no doubt about it. The vibes are low for Louisiana sports fans. And fun fact, we actually have Mickey Lumis, the ring leader of this entire circus, joining the show here in just a minute. But if you think that the black and gold are a total cloud show, I mean, Louisiana Sports in General Lopez, the Saints are bad, the Pels are bad, LSU is bad, Tain starting to slip. Hey, but at least University of New Orleans took down TCU, so there you go. Love to see that. I think the Saints are a total clown show. I think they’re a total joke. So, type joke in the comments. And by the way, Mickey Lumis, joining the show right now. Hey there, Saints fans. It’s your general manager, Mickey Lumis here. Just wanted to let you know, I hate you. And to be totally honest, I wish I could have paid Derek Carr more money. I wish he never would have retired. I wish we still had Dennis Allen. I don’t feel bad about trading up to go and select Marcus Davenport. Payton Turner was a great selection and at the end of the day I think that the no call was the right call. Hey, by the way, I love you, Gail. Appreciate Saints general manager Mickey Lumis for joining the program. We always appreciate his presence here at Saints. Now, so the circus in New Orleans is very, very bad. And look, there’s a few reasons why I’m calling this thing an absolute clown show. The first one, it’s very basic. bad ownership, bad management. It all starts up top for me. So, with the New Orleans Saints, I just cannot sit here and say that I agree with this uh with this from Forbes. Um I went on record that has nothing to do with anything other than the fact that the records for both Gail Benson’s teams are terrible. Three wins in 17 games between two teams. And guess what? The Pelicans are about to take on the Spurs. Doesn’t seem like that one’s going to be a win. You just got your second win over the Mavs who are terrible. So, uh, Gail Benson named the most powerful woman in sports. Don’t know why. Not a good owner. Just going to call it how it is. She’s not getting it done. And I’m a firm believer that teams reflect their leadership. I’m a firm believer that when you take a look at an organization, whether it’s a team, a company, a restaurant, a business, whatever, if there are problems, they usually start all up top. And of course, you can blame coaching, of course you can blame management, of course you can blame ownership, of course you can blame the janitor, of course you can blame the scouting department, of course you can blame the health department, of course you can blame the medical staff, of course you can blame the players, of course you can blame this person, that person, his person, that person. doesn’t matter. Nobody is blameless. But it all starts at the top. And because leadership is lazy, because leadership isn’t getting it done, everything else is not getting it done. The standard up top is not success. The standard is mediocrity. That’s why you’re getting this trickle down effect of mediocrity throughout the team. And question, how much longer is Mickey’s leash? I should have asked him that when he was in the studio. I should have asked how much longer he’s going to be here in New Orleans. How much longer is the leash? He’s just he’s terrible. He’s terrible. Thank god he had Shawn Peyton and Drew Brees because otherwise he’s not a GM. And look, you don’t become the most tenur GM in all of football without being a little bit good, having some success. So, credit where it’s due, but to be totally honest, Mickey Lumis just isn’t getting it done anymore. Got to give him credit on the Marshon Latimore trade. At least he got that one right. That feels like the only thing he’s gotten right in five, six years. Like Kell Moore is Mickey’s last hope. And and I don’t think we will ever outright see the New Orleans Saints fire Mickey Lumis. I think he’ll be retiring or mutually parting ways or it’ll be they decide forcing him into a retire. Like they’re not they’re forcing it out. They’re not going to fire him. He’s gonna have to quit. He’s gonna have to leave on his own term. And if Kell Moore works out, guess what? Mickey Lumis ain’t going anywhere. But if Kellen Moore does fail, then Mickey Lumis, the guy who made the hire for Dennis Allen, who failed, the guy who made the hire for Kell Moore, then failed. Like, at some point, the leash ends and at some point you have to make the decision. And at some point, it’s a management issue. And at some point, you have to stop making bad decisions. So, Gail, I don’t know what to tell you. Go above Mickey again. He didn’t want to fire DA. You had to go and have those conversations. You had to make that happen. I guess start doing that more. Prove that you are the most powerful woman in sports. Sure as hell doesn’t feel like it. Ownership and management. Total joke. Now, we got two more points to make here. Th this roster is so bad. They’re terrible. Like I I genuinely was one of those guys who coming into the season was like, “No, it’s a much more underrated roster than you think.” And I don’t know if it’s a coaching problem. I don’t know if it’s a roster problem. I think it’s honestly a little bit of everything. Um, this roster sucks. There’s not really anybody who gets you feeling crazy. There’s not really anybody who stands out. The best player this season has been Chase Young, and he missed the first few weeks because of a calf injury. There’s too many players who getting overpaid. There’s too many missed on draft picks. There’s too many guys underperforming. There’s too many guys that are just going out there and quite frankly not getting the job done. I mean, look, cap spending has been a problem. And cap spending is not a problem. And kicking the can down the road is not an issue when you are winning the division. When you have double-digit wins, it’s a [ __ ] problem when you’re only getting two or three wins. It’s a damn issue when you can’t even win the worst division of football. It’s of course a problem when Caesar Ruiz is set to make $14 million each of the next two seasons. You’re really going to sit here and justify $30 million going to Caesar Ruiz over the next two years? Try to convince me that’s a good idea. Mickey Lumis, try to tell me that because I’m going to sit here and give you 13 reasons why it’s a terrible [ __ ] decision. Taesm Hill, I love the player. I love the guy. I’m a huge, huge fan of his. He took a huge cap hit this year, but there’s no reason for him to be taking up so much money. Alvin Chimera, I love that player, but he’s not getting it done. Cam Jordan, love him. Not getting it done. Cam, Carlson, 6.4 4 million. Not getting it done. Chase Young, less than 7 million. That’s pretty much the only contract I would say right now you’re cashing in on. Joan Johnson, not getting it done. He signed a three-year, what 15ish million dollar contract. I mean, what in the hell is going threeear 35, whatever it is. I’m so fired up now. All I know is Jawan Johnson does not need to be making the money he is. Caesar Ruiz does not need to be making the money he is. And at this point in their careers, Taesm Hill, Alvin Chimera, Deario Davis, Cam Jordan, love them all, but at some point, you need to be smarter spenders. Not saying trade them. I’m not saying cut them. I’m not saying restructure their contracts. If anything, I actually think because they’re willing to stick around and put up with all the [ __ ] they should be able to keep some of that money. But I am gonna tell you right now, you kind of put yourself in a shitty spot because now the New Orleans Saints have to wait for some of this money to just get off their books. The only thing that’s really going to save them right now is time because they did not make enough moves at the trade deadline. And look, you would be not having this huge issue if you were hitting on draft picks. That is the number one thing this team sucks at drafting. This team is terrible. I want all of the talent evaluators, I want all of the scouts, I want all of them, if you’re watching this video, to please explain to me what in the hell is going on between years because it it seems like it’s that monkey with the symbols just doing this. That’s what it feels like our scouting department is doing every single year. When was the last draft that we had that we crushed it? 2017 for sure. I’ll give you that one. But how much longer are we going to ride that high? Oh, and and question, how many more of those players are still on the Saints roster? You can’t keep living off that high. And the other reality is that the New Orleans Saints need to start hitting on picks. You cannot turn your roster over. You cannot turn things around if you keep drafting projects out of Virginia, Tech, ITT, state in I don’t even know a city in Virginia. That’s my point. in Norfol. I don’t even know. My point being, you got to stop drafting projects. Start drafting players that will come out here and make a difference. And I honestly would have made more moves at the deadline. Like, you had an opportunity to free yourself some from some of these contracts. You had an opportunity to shed some of this money off of your books in the future and this year. Like, I I personally would have made more than just two moves because neither of them are really capsaving moves. You could argue with Rasheed Shahid, you were going to etch a big contract with him. You needed to pay him this offseason. So sure that money isn’t being spent now. Trevor Penning, you were never going to pay a lot of money to. You got to make more moves at the deadline. I’m honestly disappointed in the Saints for only making two. I would have preferred to make a couple of extra ones and really open up the roster for some of the youth and open up the books down the road. And I know I’ve been very critical of the drafting. I’m not going to say I’m sorry for it because in what world is Payton Turner and Marcus Davenport’s good picks? They’re not. I will say though with the 2025 class, I I gotta give Kell Moore credit. I really really like that group. All in all, I feel like that is a strong draft class. Nine total selections. Of course, 90% of the opinions are going to be based around Tyler Shuck and how he pans out. However, when you consider Kelvin Banks, I think he’s going to be your starting left tackle for the future. I think Yonis Sanker in the third round, he is going to be a longtime contributor as a safety. I think Quincy Riley was a great pick. I think Danny Stzman was the steal of the draft. I think Devin Neil was an awesome selection. I really, really like Maliki Mataval’s size. We’re just not using him right now. Fidil Diggs, I really liked that pick. He’s not really a contributor on the game day roster. I like the 2025 class, but in 2026, you need to hit big again. You one draft class not going to fix this. It’s going to take multiple draft classes to turn this roster around. Thank you Ringling brothers of Mickey Lumis and Gail Benson. Now the last thing is that coaching’s lazy. And look, it doesn’t take some football soant to tell you that. It doesn’t take some guy who knows everything about X’s and O’s to sit here and tell you that the coaching is lazy. And and and if you’re still tapped into Saints games, it’s because you’re a real fan. And for what it’s worth, before I get to my final thoughts, this is a channel for real fans only. Look, we are live every single game day. It ain’t pretty. It’s not fun. Lopez and I leave pretty much every single week pissed off, but we’re real fans and we tune in every single week. The New Orleans Saints coaching is so bad that right now, again, credit to a shitty roster, they are ranking at the bottom of the league in a lot of statistical categories. 31st in points per games on offense, 29th in yards per game on offense, 30th in yards per play. Hey, you’re top 20 and third down percentage, but you’re second to last in the red zone and scoring touchdowns. Defensively, it’s better, but not much. It’s like going from [ __ ] to stink. Like, okay, cool. Band-aid on a bullet wound. I guess that’s awesome. The Saints struggle to create explosive plays. They struggle to create stops. They struggle to force turnovers. They struggle to finish drives. They struggle to get things moving. They struggle in the run. They struggle passing. They struggle blocking. They struggle rushing the passer. They struggle in protect in in uh dropping back in coverage. What are the New Orleans Saints good at? Honest question. I I don’t know, not much. And again, the coaching has been bad. The roster’s terrible, but the coaching’s been bad. It’s not like we’ve seen the greatest play calling. It’s not like we’ve seen the greatest situational football. It’s not like we’ve seen the most awareness being shown. It’s not like we’re seeing great challenges being made every week. It’s hard to win football games with a bad roster. That is no question about it. The The Saints have a bad roster. No doubt. But it’s even harder to win games when your coaching is lackluster, too. The combination of bad coaching and bad coaching or excuse me, bad coaching a bad roster. Two negatives don’t make a positive here. It leads to more bad credit where it’s due to Kell Moore. I want to make something explicitly clear here. I don’t dislike Kell Moore. I still believe in him. I really like Kell Moore. I think that he is the long-term answer. friendly reminder, he is a rookie, too. This is the first time he’s ever been a head coach. Phenomenal as a play caller, but you got to get your bearings as a head coach. It is a very, very different role. It’s okay that things aren’t amazing. It’s okay that things aren’t perfect. It’s okay that things are bad right now. I I want to make that explicitly clear. It is okay that we are in the midst of a circus right now. But you got to turn it around sooner rather than later. Things are not going to be amazing today. They’re not going to be amazing tomorrow. And hell, after the by-week, they’re not going to be any better. But I’m here to tell you, I still believe in Kell Moore, and we need to be patient. I think that he is the long-term solution. He’s a quarterback guy. He is a very, very smart offensive mind. He is a bright, young coach in this league. He has quickly climbed the rankings in the National Football League as a coach. He was extremely successful as a quarterback in college at Boise State. I’m not sitting here and saying that he deserves all of the blame. He has a bad roster. Like, it is hard to coach good games with a bad roster. And a lot of the guys on the roster, Dennis Allen and Shawn Peyton’s guys. That being said, we need to turn things around and we need to get better sooner rather than later. Final thoughts here. I know that a lot of y’all have been flaming me in the comments. I read them every single day and I know that there’s probably people who’ve said this in today’s video. You say it every other video. So, why not this one? Why is this one an exception? I get that this is a multi-year rebuild. I understand that this was never going to be a good year. I also am fully aware that things were much, much worse way back in the day before I was born. I understand that there have been darker days in Saints football. That doesn’t change the fact that this season sucks and I am miserable as a football fan. That doesn’t change the fact that it’s not fun to tune into Saints games. I agree. We need to be patient, but that doesn’t change anything about how boring and unexciting and unexpiring and how disappointing the season has been. We got to have patience, but that doesn’t mean that this season doesn’t suck. Things have been bad. Guess what? They’re bad right now, too. Now, a friendly reminder to subscribe.
