Week 9 Winners & Losers | This is Football

[Music] [Music] This is football. I am Kevin C. Week nine is in the books, guys. Uh probably going to be on the shorter side of an episode this week. Uh craziest week of my life. If you want, I’m not going to look back on any of that stuff. If you’d like to look back on it, the gymnants episode is sitting in your feed. You can you can uh uh dive in there. 50 minutes of talk about my week. Last week I’m back in New York. I took my son trick-or-treating. Uh I was uh I I because I was a little bit frantic coming back into New York from Florida. I did not have a Halloween costume. My son, by the way, uh we bought him two costumes. Woody from Toy Story and Lightning McQueen from Cars. We are both proud. We’re all proud members of the Disney family here. Uh and the Clark family. Uh he was he did not this is apparently a very common thing for two-year-olds. No interest no interest in actually putting on the stuff they picked out. None. And then we ran into another family a couple weeks ago and I was telling them that you know we there had been a couple events they don’t want to put on the costumes and there they said that their their son same age last year uh wouldn’t even put clothes on for Halloween. Just wore a diaper around trick-or-treating. So we were very lucky that Teddy he said he wanted to be a skeleton. So we had a skeleton shirt. We didn’t want that one. He wore a sk a shirt uh that just had a picture of a skeleton on a skateboard. That is what he wore. And he said he was a spooky skeleton. So that’s that’s what it was. Anyway, long story short, I was Fran Vagner because I had a magic jersey. I just threw it on. And then I was informed that that is apparently and I saw this with my own eyes what every seventh grader in America does. They just throw on a basketball jersey. And by the way, I live in Knicks country. It wasn’t that. There was like maybe a couple of Jaylen Brunson jerseys, but it was a lot of like Anthony Edwards, Joel Embiid. It was a lot of that. Okay. So, seventh graders and me, we just throw in basketball jerseys and we say trick-or- treat and get some Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. All right. Um, our buddy Ben Fox tweeted this out before the game started Sunday morning. Most bet week nine NFL sets. Number one, Lions to cover eight and a half. Did not happen. Number two, Colts to cover three and a half. Did not happen. Number three, Patriots to cover four and a half. Did not happen. Hey, here’s one that happened. 49ers two and a half point favorites. Chargers 9 and a half. So, looking at this, by the way, the Chargers didn’t get 2720. Impossibly weird game there. So, I know it always seems like a weird week in the NFL. We always do this. Every every season seems weird in the moment. Every week seems weird in the moment. Then we look back on it, we say, “Yeah, of course. Of course. Of course. Daniel Jones didn’t turn the ball over six times.” Okay. Of course. Yes. He didn’t look like an MVP candidate. He’s not an MVP. We say that looking back January into November, we don’t in the moment. It all seems very weird. But even for the weird NFL, this is a weird week. Um, the longest field goal of all time was kicked this week and nobody cares. That just show you we’re we’re in the juiced ball era. We got Mark Maguire doing his little half swings and it’s going out of the park. That’s what we’ve got going on. Nobody cares. My most boomer take of 2025 is that the the field goals are too long. The field goals are too long. That’s not what I’m going to get into. Um great quote from from Nick Sabin five years ago, 10 years ago, I don’t know. uh where he talks about the illusion of choice and he says that greatness you think you have all these choices but you don’t really you just have to do if you want to be great you have to do what it takes so you think you have all these choices am I going to go grab a grab a Bud Light right now um or am I going to go and work three more hours right you think you have that choice but if you’re actually going to be great you don’t have that choice that’s Nick Sabin’s point the illusion of choice there is no choice. Looking at the uh the Bills Chiefs game right now. The Bills have no choice than to sell out and get the best pass rusher they can possibly find at the deadline. Here’s the reason. Michael Hoy ruled out with the torn Achilles. And we just saw this came down postgame. Shawn Mcderman said it. We just saw what that defense is capable of against Patrick Mahomes. And I’m blown away by the fact that like I’m not even sure it’s it’s downright spooky that Josh Allen has won five regular season games in a row against Patrick Mahomes and Mahomes has won four straight playoff games, right? That’s weird. Doesn’t make any sense. But I also know that a what we saw today can be replicable. Okay, here’s what I mean by that. This was the first time in Patrick Mahomes’s career that he was held to fewer than 50% completion percentage. 44% completion percentage today. Worst of his entire career. What was the reason for that? It was because he was pressured on 20 of his 38 dropbacks. That’s the first time since 2020 that he was pressured on more than half of his drop backs. Fourth time in his career, according NextGen stats. Look at it right now. Okay. The Bills again vg stats forced Mahomes to hold on to the ball leading to his longest time to throw over the last two seasons, 3.37 seconds. So you have a secondary that looks like it’s coming into its own. First round pick this year. Maxwell Harrison’s going stride for stride with Xavier Worthy. Saw a couple plays like that. He has the interception on the arm punt. Cole Bishop is playing lights out. And then you have Joey Bosa doing stuff and Oliver’s been out and who knows when he if he’s come back for the playoffs or not. But you had a defense that looked complete and it looked like it can do this again in January. Then you had the awful Achilles injury and you have to overpay now. You have to call everybody. You You have to give up whatever draft capital is needed and make every team with a good pass rusher say no. The Raiders. I mean I everybody call the damn Bill Browns. I I I don’t care. I don’t care. You’re calling everybody. You overpaid Von Miller in this exact situation a couple years ago because you wanted to beat the Chiefs. You said, “This is the best pass rusher available. We’re going to give him a ton of money. We’re give him a ton of guaranteed money. He’s going to leave LA to come to us.” Because you knew you needed fourth quarter pass rush in January against the Chiefs. Now you have a defense that is looks like it’s getting better every single week. By the way, like this defense did not look good for a long time. It looked good today. Today it came into its own and you saw a proof of concept. This is by no means an elite defense, but it’s a defense that can put together this type of performance. You have to go out. If if the Dline cannot get pressure, everything else falls apart. Saw the stat. Only two of the 20 pressures came within two and a half seconds. Okay, this is not a a suffocating Dline, but there were instances where the pocket was collapsing and Mahomes just said, “Get me out of here.” These types of games are won in March and April and May and June when you’re adding these pieces. This was a roster. This was a handful of individual performances making Momes really uncomfortable. They were not converting first downs and they haven’t been at the same clip they have. I mean, it was funny. I was actually looking I think they were one of 10 on third down this year or sorry, today and um in looking at it, it makes total sense. Travis Kelce his the numbers for his first downs have declined the last few years. 2021 when the offense was just unbelievable. Both Hill and Kelsey were in top tens and in receptions and first downs. Kelsey became, I think, top three for a couple years and now I think he’s 11th this year, which is actually pretty impressive. He wasn’t last year. He was maybe 20 to 30s last year, but he’s 11th this year. So, he’s still giving you something. He gave you something today with the with the damn unbelievable just sitting down in the zone and just just Mahomes whipping it down the field catch if you remember that. But you’re going to need a little more. need another weapon to emerge. They’ll get there. I I I have faith that they’ll get there. But Mahomes looked uncomfortable all day today. He was not moving the chains. Everything looked labored. Everything looked hard. And when everything looks hard, you can beat Patrick Mahomes. And if you can do that in January, special stuff can happen. Okay. That that that that four game losing streak, which is the longest in history in the playoffs from one quarterback over another, that can end if if if this is on Brandon Bean now. and nobody else because you already saw it. They have to go out and get a guy on the Dline who makes it look like it may look tonight. Okay, because scheme w I mean like the the Bobby Babage and Shawn Mcder everything scheme wise was awesome today. Mahomes is under 50% in both against both man and zone and and that’s why the line of scrimmage the the Bills just whipped them and all the the the takes on Monday from all the people who want to defend Mahomes, which I’m 99% in that camp, it’s all going to be, well, it doesn’t matter. See you in January. Doesn’t matter. See you in January. Well, you you you you gave a bunch of I just gave a bunch of stats that show you that what the Buffalo did on Sunday was unlike anything any defense has ever done to him. And by the way, again, as I said, not a great defense. So clearly there’s something there that can be replicated. There’s, by the way, like it’s amazing that Mahomes, even with those numbers, was within a Hail Mary of tying the game up. That’s amazing. But it this for for 95% of games in this league come down to three or four plays to begin with. Um but clearly there’s something here. It it is reductive and stupid and lazy to say this game today did not matter at all. Okay. Reductive, stupid, and late. In fact, I’m I’m prejudging anybody who comes out with that take on Monday and says it doesn’t matter. It matters. It matters. So the illusion of choice here is that the Bills if the Bills cannot if they want to be a serious team in January say we like our guys. No, we like our guys trade dead ends in two days. You have to go out and get a guy. You have to overpay call everybody. To me like to to you’re going to see a bunch of realistic names run out there right from teams that are out of the hunt. the, you know, I someone threw out Calvin Ridley’s name. He’s not he’s not he’s obviously wide receiver, but I’m looking at Calvin Rid. Who’s trading for Calvin Ridley? To me, the real the realistic It’s funny realistic names that get thrown out there, you don’t want those guys typically. You want the holy crap guys. You want the Rams trading for Jaylen Ramsay at mid-season five years ago. You want Marcus Peters getting traded in mid-season. What was that? Four years ago. You want that stuff. You want that kind of stuff where nobody’s talking about this and all of a sudden, bang, holy crap, mid-season trade, two first round picks, one first round pick, two seconds, whatever. You want that trade. So, the realistic names to me, I don’t want to see those for the Bills. I want to see the holy crap trade. Go do it. Sometimes I think we get very I’m not saying Bean would do this because again Bean I’ve talked to Bean about this. They went out they drafted Epanessa. They drafted Greg Russo because they wanted to beat the Chiefs. They’re almost there. They just did it in the regular season for the fifth straight time. Doesn’t matter what happens with all of that unless they complete the puzzle. Okay. Doesn’t matter if you are down a Michael Hy went out and spent three years $21 million. If you lose one piece, then all of the good work you’ve done in the draft for the past five years to beat the Chiefs is undone. You have to close. You have to close. This is on Brandon Bean. I I feel very strongly about this. It’s really easy. No one No one uh wins Super Bowl because you draft a franchise quarterback. You you you win a Super Bowl because you figure out what to do with the franchise quarterback. They drafted an absolute unicorn. They deserve all the credit in the world. By the way, I want to give Brandon Bean kudos on this because we talked so much about how they needed a number one receiver. I didn’t talk about that, but that was the big narrative. Brandon Bean came on the show and said, “I wish people would understand we don’t need a number one receiver. You can do with backs and tight ends.” What was today? Backs and tight ends. Backs and tight ends. Backs and tight ends. It was awesome. It was Brandon Bean is 100% right. But now his next challenge is you go out and you got to get another defensive piece. Have to. This is betting is brought to you by ESPN Bet Sportsbook. Bet $10 to get $100 in bonus bets when you use code Clark 21 plus gambling problem called one00 gambler. All right, so after the uh the Steelers win, we are now five and one when picking against the spread in the ESPN bet segment. As I said over last week, I should be six and 0. I’m I’m gonna leave it to the listener to decide. I should be six and 0 because I tried to pick the Jets over the Bengals. And then my producer said, “Do you really want to stake your undefeated record on the Jets?” I was bullied out of it, but I also wanted to be bullied out of it. He was right. Don’t ever stake anything on the Jets. But in that particular case, I was correct. So, uh, I I’m five and one. I’m gonna I’m gonna eat it. I’m hand up. I’m going to be five and one. Uh, I’m gonna have that one for a long time. But that’s okay. The NFL, you can drop one and keep going. You can drop the dumb one and keep it keep it moving. Uh, so a lot on the line here. Trying to go six and six and one. So it’s Monday Night Football. It’s Cowboys and the Cardinals. And I gotta say, I really like this Cowboys team. I really like their ability to score. Total’s 53 and a half. Um, they’re at home. Give me the Cowboys here. Three and a half point favorites. Give me the Cowboys. I just I love what they’re starting to develop against, you know, Alan Robinson’s in the show a couple weeks ago talking about how basically he’s never seen anybody with better body positioning than George Pickins as far as being able to put his yards after catch uh basically position his body for yards after catch, like catch the ball with the insane catch radius, but also know we can still get 15 extra yards. Like there’s a gift there. And there’s Dak and he’s slinging the ball everywhere. There’s CD Lamb. Um things are are coming together. Okay. I don’t think the Cardinal I simply this is this is the crux of it. I do not think the Cardinals can score with the with the Cowboys. Don’t think so. Cowboys three and a half point favorites. They cover easily. This is betting. All right. Um that So my winner my winner is the Buffalo Bills. Sorry, we’re doing winners and losers. Uh loser is the New York Giants. Uh, here’s a stat. Brian Dable starts through nine games as Giants head coach. 2022, 7-2. Very nice. 2023, 2 and 7, 2024, 2 and 7, 2025, you guessed it, two and seven. Um, I don’t know what the hell was going on in the postgame press conference. Reporter says, “Are those tears of emotion or just Brian Dable says who’s reporter yours?” Dable is what? I’m sorry. I didn’t hear what you’re saying. Reporter it. You walked in here look like you were just the the tears were coming out of your eyes. Or is that just allergies? Dable. Quote, “No, it wasn’t tears.” So, it is November 2nd and the coach of the New York Giants is denying that he is crying. I’m not sure which outcome is worse. Um the things seem trending in a bad direction. Jackson Dart seems to be um who played who had who flashed today. He um he he went at the amount of 49ers visiting fans, which I think is a good thing. I think it’s I I I whether it’s a StubHub thing or the availability to travel or just the sport getting too big. I I actually dislike how many opposing fans are in these stadiums. I I can do a longer thing on this, but either you do like a European soccer thing wherever you’re you’re having a a um an away section or I don’t know. I I don’t know. There’s no solution other than have better fans. And the problem is everybody says, “Oh, well, Lambo uh you know, you shouldn’t be able to invade Lambo, whatever. Lambo is the type of place they’re visiting fans are going to go.” Okay, New York is the type of place visiting fans are going to go. Vegas type I heard Jaguars fans in Vegas. They’re that’s the type of place they’re going to go. Sometimes you’re just a victim of of being a destination. All right. Like how many people, you know, Miami, Jacksonville, Tampa, a tough deal because you have a lot of transplants there. Okay. But still, there’s way more visiting fans than there used to be. Way more. And it kind of hurts the atmosphere a little bit at some of these games. Got to be honest with you. Feel like, you know, old school football was like you knew your season ticket neighbors. Everybody knew everybody. Now you got a bunch of people selling on StubHub. And listen, the teams are in bed. They’re the teams are good with that because they pay a lot of lot of expensive tickets to move. So they’re good selling it to opposing teams. Whatever. That’s that’s that’s a different day. Um but uh Dart seemed really um Dart seemed really down and the defense uh M. Jones is pressured on five of his 28 dropbacks. Second lowest percentage of the season for him. Um, Giants didn’t blitz enough. Giants didn’t get pressure with the four-man rush. Um, they had a little success. They had the the Brian Burns pressure that led to a led to an Abdul Carter interception, I want to say. Um, but it wasn’t enough. And and the reason I’m los I’m leading with them being losers is because we kind of know what’s going to happen now. Jackson Dart. So, Pton Manning came on the show in January and uh I said, “What’s the number one thing you wish you could tell coaches about quarterbacks?” And he said, “It’s almost you you fail quarterbacks sometimes when they start learning having to learn different languages, learning Latin first year, Spanish your second year, Italian your third year, and he met the playbooks, obviously, the offensive terminology.” And it’s unfortunate to me that looks like Brian Dable is going to get fired. We’ll see about the GM. I would fire the GM. That’s that’s probably different than a foregone conclusion. So I I don’t I don’t want to attack that. It’s also not the point I’m making. The point I’m making is Jackson Darth’s going to have another head coach. And maybe it’s a offensive minded head coach. Um maybe it’s a defensive head coach and they try to get a, you know, a Shawn McVey disciple, you know, kind of like what the uh the Falcons did this year with Zack Robinson. Um, but what I do know is that this is why oftentimes it’s really, if you are on the fence about firing your coach or your GM, you should do it before drafting a quarterback. Don’t draft a quarterback and have him under a lame dunk duck coach. It’s way too important. It’s way too important to have him develop over the four years and figure out if he’s worthy of a contract extension because a lot of these contract extensions are just randomly given for $55 million a year. It’s because you don’t actually know. You’re signing it because of FOMO and you’re like, “Ah, he looks okay. We’ll give him $210 million and just hope he’s he’s going to take a step forward with this thing, right?” Um, and so you need to see him in the same offense for four years. You need to see him in a stable environment. And unfortunately Jackson Dart’s not going to get that. So that’s why they’re a loser to me. Um, another loser, the Packers. Oh boy. Um, Rob Dowski. K Rob Dowski. Love the guy. Packers lost as a 13 and a half point favorite. Is the largest upset in the NFL since 2023 when the Titans won when they were two touchdown underdogs at Miami. You remember that game? Insane comeback. Believe it’s a Monday night double header. Uh it tied for the Packers largest upset loss since the 1970 merger. Now this is important because the Packers also lost a believe a 12-point favorite game uh against the Cleveland Browns in a miserable miserable game earlier this year where Jordan Love made a really stupid decision. Matt Lair owned it said it should have just been a bootleg run in that game. Um should never let Love put it up for grabs. Okay, in this one. So he loses the Panthers. Panthers, by the way, looking real good. This one kind of the same thing. Jordan Love rolling out on fourth down, running around, buying time, throwing an awful pick. Awful, awful, awful pick across his body. And it’s it at this I think that they lose Tucker Craft and I think Jordan Love’s going to have these games. And so right now I and I’m not even sure what it is. I’m not sure if it’s a play style thing. I’m not sure if it’s being I you know play sequencing uh being and again they went for it on fourth down. Matt Lefor likes to go in forward on fourth down. So it’s not that it’s not that they’re playing conservative. It might be the way they call their plays. Are you going deeper down the field? Um are you are you understanding when it is an inconsistent Jordan Love game? Rico Dael was was a absolute badass today. He was playing out of his mind. Maybe the Packers need to work on that. But whatever it is, if you are dropping two games where you’re double favorites in the NFL, this isn’t college. This is not college where that happens all the time. In the NFL, if you’re dropping those types of games, something is deeply wrong with your offense and the way your quarterback is playing. I I don’t think there’s anywhere way else to put that. I don’t think there’s anywhere else to put that because and I’m not saying it’s all on Jordan Love. I’m just saying that I’m looking at this and I’m seeing no touchdowns, one interception, 80 rating. Fine. But Jordan Love, we’ve seen stretches where he was I mean, it’s funny because I go back and forth on this because back half of 2023, he was the best quarterback in football without a doubt. And so next year he comes back more inconsistent and people say, “Well, maybe the light bulb didn’t come on. Maybe he’s just a very streaky quarterback.” And I’m wondering if maybe maybe that might be the case. He’s having an awesome year. 13 touchdowns, three interceptions, over 70% completion percentage. Um rating over 107. But and again they’re like five and they’re they’re 52 and one but a 40 point I mean they they they’ve scored 35 points last week on the Steelers fine but we got to watch the inconsistency and I think that’s on the floor. I think the way that they again I don’t know I don’t know they need to look in the mirror because you can’t lose these types of games. Can’t do it. Uh speaking of of last week uh the winner is the Steelers. Steelers needed a game like this. Um, speaking of like inconsistent offenses, the Steelers have the worst offense in the NFL and they’re pretty bad today when it comes to uh drives without a first down. Now, that’s not the same as three and punt because there’s no out like the fourth down. It’s a different stat if you go for it on fourth down and fail um or you turn the ball over. Steelers are the worst team in football at that. Eagles oddly are third. Titans are second. I thought the Titans were going to be first, but it’s the Steelers. So, the reason they won today was because two things. Number one, they leaned into their identity, which is, you know, why are those drives happening where you’re not getting the first down? Because Aaron Rogers is only throwing short passes. And he was really good at that today. Really, really, really good at it. NextG Jets has 2.7 airs per attempt. The third fewest by a quarterback in any game this season. uh 24 of 32 uh inside the sticks, one touchdown, most passing yards on throws on 10 air yards this season. This is who you are and they leaned in their identity. There’s something to be said for that. Okay. On the other side, they pressured Daniel Jones 18 times. They had Jaylen Ramsey at safety. Jaylen Ramsey can play anywhere on the field. If you put Jaylen Ramsey at nose tackle, I think he’d make a couple plays. Uh Kyle Dugger, the uh the Patriots safety was all over the place. Played 72 snaps. So, they’ve clearly changed their alignment and they were using split safety and good things were happening. Aaron Rogers said there was a team talk last night where they could sense an energy shift. I don’t know what that is. All I know is that they played their best game of the season I think so far today against a team that remember Daniel Jones threw I mean turned the ball over six times but two fumbles which he’s gotten a lot better at the fumble thing since since early days of New York but man there there’s there’s something to be said for and this again this is people were like there was a report this week that Mike Tomlin that ownership is doing frustr getting frustrated he always figures it out. He always figures it out. It’s something like this. He’s become underrated as a defensive mind. Terrell Austin is his defensive coordinator. They’re all They all get underrated. And I know things haven’t been amazing today, but there’s always a light bulb that comes on like this. So, it’s Jaylen Ramsay at safety. It’s it’s the trade and it’s just leaning in on offense to what you do best. Um winner quickly, JJ McCarthy. Lions came at him. Aiden Hudson came at him. Didn’t matter. And I was one of these guys. I was in on JJ McCarthy coming into the season, kind of out on him. Thought everything was kind of weird the last couple weeks and then you have a performance like today and you see that they can they can win. They can win. And to me, the play of the game outside, it’s a third down. If you watched it, you know what I’m talking about. Third down for the game. Trying to ice it. He throws outside the numbers and deep to Jaylen Naylor. Not even Jordan Addison, not Justin Jefferson. It wasn’t a Justin Jefferson’s down there somewhere play. It was a trust throw kind of back shoulder type deal to Jaylen Naylor. And he nailed it. He nailed it. And this is why when we talk about Kevin Oonnell building the best infrastructure for quarterbacks anywhere, this is why we talk about that. You’re throwing outside the numbers to your third receiver at best and you nail it. You have trust in your guy. McConnell was on the show a couple weeks a couple months ago and he’s talking about McCarthy had some of the best numbers on money downs in the history of college football. Yes, you trust your guy. By the way, most of those numbers have been paid over by Cam Mo. That’s that’s neither here nor there. But you trust your guy. You you call your best play on third down and you get there. I thought it was awesome. McCarthy was great under pressure. He showed good instincts on when to run. Had a couple hiccups, but otherwise I thought it was an awesome performance. It was something to build on. Um, loser Bengals, we are who we thought they were. They are who we thought they were. And Al Golden coming in to be the DC has not helped. I said this all year. Lanna Rumo wasn’t the problem. How can Lanna Rumo go from we made the Super Bowl because Lanna Rumo and Joe Burrow to you got to go Lanna? by the way, seems to be doing a pretty good job in Indie. Um, but the issue here is that Chase Brown after the game, two two players, Chase Brown and Jamar Chase went at the defense. Uh, Chase Brown, they asked him what he was thinking and he said, “What the f to effing game?” to what he was thinking, which he also said was, by the way, he said uh was um exactly what the fans were or media was thinking, I guess, was the way he was putting it. And then Jamar Chase was screaming one effing stop in the hallway and then has basically said, “I don’t even know how to deal with this. I’m trying to be positive in a locker room.” Bengals missed 15 tackles. This is unbelievable. 15 tackles missed, 133 yards. Most of them, most of those yards obviously on the Coulson level and touchdown after the incredible comeback. That was a 35 yard uh run after catch after missing the tackle. So, so 58 yard catch, missed tackle, missed tackle, 35 yards after that. 25 seconds left in the game. The Bengals were coming into the game with the worst miss tackle numbers in the league. Both number of missed tackles and yardage given up. This only increases their lead. They are who we thought they were. And the biggest problem is that it’s personnel. It’s not Louis Rumo. It’s not Al Golden. It’s not Zack Taylor. It’s Gino Stone. Jordan Battle who whiffed on the tackles. I mean he Jordan Battle tackle he just lowered his shoulder and prayed against Coulson. Lelin ran through him. That’s why you throw to a tight end. That’s why you draft a tight end in the first round. But it’s personnel. They don’t have the horses. They have not drafted or operated as if they have a champion. They there’s so many problems with them that I mean you wonder if they’ve been a lot better keeping Jesse Bates a few years ago, but let’s not reitigate that, just draft better. I I know you if you’re if you’re going to if you’re going to put everything into the basket of we’re going to pay our offensive guys and by the way, hugely impressed with the fact they kept T. Higgins and Jamar Chase and Joe Burrow. Didn’t think it was going to happen. Thought they were going to lose Higgins at the very least. hugely impressed. But if you’re missing on all these draft picks, I can’t get the the first round. The f I can’t I can’t give the front office kudos. Come on, man. Come on. Is this is not We keep talking about Burrow coming back and Ian Rampore was here a couple weeks ago talking about, “Oh, hey man, just what if he comes back and they catch fire?” Like, maybe that’s intriguing, but the defense is god awful. They can’t tackle. It’s personnel. It’s all personnel. I think sometimes what’s the old saying like uh quarterbacks are the deodorant of the franchise. They just make everything smell better. Yeah, that’s what’s going on in Cincinnati. We forgot who the Bengals were because of the tantalizing possibilities of Joe Burrow this year and last year. Now Joe Burrow is gone. They’re losing games like this. I mean, they lost games last year with Joe Burrow like that. That’s even worse. Right now, Joe Flacco gets to experience it. All right. Um, that’s enough. I All I can say is maybe it’s time for new eyes in uh Cincinnati. I’m not sure the owners should be should be involved in the front office in Dallas and Cincinnati. Okay. Let’s let’s maybe shake that up a little bit. And I know Will Mcclelay exists in Dallas. I know Drew Tobin exists in Cincinnati, but something is deeply, deeply broken, especially in Cincinnati. I don’t want to do the Dallas thing right now. Especially in Cincinnati. It’s a weird place. All right, we’re going to be back on Tuesday. Great guests. Mina K’s going to join us. We’re talking football. Then one of the best players in the NFL is going to join us. And then a uh retired legend is going to join us. You You’re going to get a lot of football this week. Thank you to Miles. Thank you to Flynn. See you on Tuesday. [Music]

  1. 11:00 Thank you for saying that. That is one of my biggest pet peeves of the media, especially with Stephen A. Smith and the rest of the First Take crew. Whenever the Chiefs win, they are the best thing since sliced bread. And when they lose, it doesn't matter till they beat Chiefs in the playoffs.

  2. 17:50 Additionally, the people who travel are typically those who can afford the tickets in the first place. If tickets were more affordable, I'm sure more of the local home fans would take up the available seating. Money likely plays a role in how fans travel.

  3. What makes this KC loss so concerning, honestly, if you're a Chiefs fan, is that the Bills practically did the same thing the Eagles did to them twice. What is equally concerning, if you're a Bills fan, is that they don't have any real weapons on the outside. If James Cook isn't cooking, and the opposing defense can play man, then the Bills' offense is cooked
