Which Class of 2026 quarterback do you prefer: Ty Simpson or Fernando Mendoza?

  1. Whoever that is, I prefer to hire QB specialist offensive guru crazy 🤪 eyes Adam Gase. Let him cook!

  2. Ty Simpson for me. Mendoza is limited in tools. Either way it won’t matter we’ll likely ruin them.

  3. Simpson and it’s not really that close

I don’t know why people are pushing the Mendoza #1 pick thing so hard

  4. Mendoza 100 times out of 100. Simpson has played 1 season as a starter. That rarely works out well in the NFL. Mendoza has the reps, grew a lot under Cig and has been part of a major program turnaround. I can’t understand the Simpson hype – tell me that last Alanna QB that’s done something in the NFL…

  5. This class isn’t inspiring…though the inspiring classes turn out to be hot garbage sometimes.

  6. If I have to choose, probably Simpson.

But I may rather wait until 27, not sold on using a high pick on a QB in this class. Can always take a later round flier on the number of guys that will be available since they’re in this class by default (seniors or 5rh year seniors) and then look to 27 if they don’t show anything during the year (plus we need to have a backup at some point anyways).

  7. Either one. If they suck or even if there’s a slight question draft another one in 2027

  8. I’m leaning Simpson right now, but it’s pretty close. Ultimately though, I’m fine with whoever the front office picks as long as they believe they got the right guy.

  9. Mendoza and it’s not even a discussion. So many college QBs light it up for a season and then go bust the next. Ty Simpson could go into 2026-2027 College NCAA szn with G.Nussumier, D.Allar, and A.Manning type of hype only for people to realize the dude needs more reps.

Also Mendoza looks like the better QB. He would need a top 10 NFL O-line in front of him, but with that said he responds well to adversity(see Oregon v Indiana, Penn State v Indiana), hella accurate, 3 years of starts with stats trending upward every year, huge dude(6’5!), reads defenses well, and when you hear him talk after games, you can tell he’s a leader. On top of that he was a cal QB. You can never go wrong with a Cal QB.

  10. People keep saying the 2027 draft class is going to be better but I don’t think Aaron Glenn can survive another season of Justin fields need either draft someone of find a veteran bridge qb

  11. I think Simpson might be the better prospect overall just in terms of pure potential and he’s such a natural and beautiful thrower.

That being said I think I would rather have Mendoza on the Jets. He’s got the arm talent needed, he’s a crafty runner, he’s experienced, accurate, and he really has the ability to follow the script and execute plays the way they’re drawn up.

If I’m the Jets I’m looking for a steadying force at QB and that’s Mendoza. If I was looking to hit a home run I’d probably go Simpson.

  12. Mendoza, I’m not sold on him being THE guy but there’s potential it’s not a stellar QB year. Certainly wouldn’t be selling the farm to get him but if we land in a position to do so then I’d take him.

  13. Mendoza, he has the mamba mentality. If they can’t get him, then wait until 2027, but figure out a QB alternative because I don’t think anyone can survive watching another season of Fields.

  14. Based jets/bama fan.
I want Ty. Only jets qb to ever be good is from bama. He can handle the spot light

  15. I don’t give a single fuck. I want someone in that building who knows how to develop a quarterback and will actually advocate for him.

  16. I don’t know why a game in which he mostly struggled against a Penn St. team with 0 P4 wins is making so many people flock to Mendoza. The GWD was great, but a lot of rough play by him put them in that position in the first place.

The class is still wide open and will depend on the playoffs. I like Mendoza for the extra experience and more prototypical build. I think Simpson has better tape. We’ll see for sure later.

  17. Ty Simpson, He has great mechanics a good arm and excellent accuracy. Mendoza is skittish and while he’s still got the arm and accuracy he’s also not gone up against a lot of good opponents this year, facing ODU, Kennesaw state and Indiana state for his first three games for example and 2 ranked teams besides. On the other hand Simpson has faced 4 ranked opponents and is set to face a 5th this Saturday.

Simpson lacks experience and a bit of size but his tape is in my opinion far better and his competition for this year has been stronger. I feel as though we should sit whoever we draft for awhile before starting them which I figure would help a little with Simpsons inexperience. We won’t really know until the CFP but Simpson edges this out for me, he just looks more the part on film and his recent resume more impressive.

  18. Mendoza or wait until 2027 seriously

Maybe like a 2nd/3rd round flyer but it’s a franchise QB or bust

  19. Preface: it’s a crapshoot no matter what. We’ve never given a QB the right amount of time on a bench to learn the game and adapt to NFL.

That said, Fernando. If you watch his progressions and how he throws into windows, it’s far more NFL ready than Simpson. Most importantly, Fernando also has an ‘it’ factor that makes it frustrating to play him. He’s a legit Econ major too and shows that he’s objectively intelligent.

  20. I don’t want Simpson no matter what. He’s not that good. If we can’t get Mendoza then we should wait and put everything we can into getting Sayin the following year
