Cowboys Make SNEAKY signing…

The Dallas Cowboys just made a sneaky signing and something that has gone under the radar at a position of need. How does this shake out the roster and what does this mean for the people at this position? We talk about it here today on Cowboys Digest. Welcome in everybody. I’m Jace Andrews. I appreciate you tuning in to today’s show. I want to thank you for the support on our last couple of videos and want to remind you to hit that subscribe button. We are closing in on 9,000 subscribers. When I originally took over, we were less than right at 3,000. The fact that we are closing in on 9,000 is so surreal. 150 away. And if you are watching this video now, thinking about subscribing, I promise it’ll be a very good decision. You’ll get daily Cowboys coverage throughout the entirety of the season and beyond. Let’s talk about a key signing the Dallas Cowboys made as the Cowboys have reunited with a fourthyear running back on the practice squad. Now, running back is a weird position for the Dallas Cowboys because well, it it’s right now there’s only two guys on the active roster and I’m pretty sure the Cowboys hate the second guy in Jaden Blue because this man is a rookie out of Texas fifth year. There was so much hype. There was so much excitement and then he’s been active in what, four games and played in four games. Like granted, his stats haven’t been that good, but they also haven’t haven’t been that bad to warrant him just being on the bench like that. I I don’t really understand that. The fact that literally he was on the bench in the most recent game the Cowboys played, it just speaks to how the Cowboys view this guy. However, the Cowboys have been active this bye-week. Obviously, that helps when the MLB or excuse me, the NFL trade deadline is in there. obviously getting Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson because of him asking for a trade they got him at a discount price. You also went out and got a blockbuster trade acquiring the New York Jets allp prodefensive tackle Quinn Williams and in theory there was going to be four new people out there on defense for the Dallas Cowboys because it is expected that Demarian Oversh is going to be out there and playing and then also Siobhan Revel Jr. a guy we talked about in the third round coming out of Eastern Carolina. In my opinion, a first round talent if he didn’t tear his ACL. I’m excited to see what both those guys got. Obviously, defense is the position or the position group that the Cowboys really need the most help at, but I’d argue on offense that running back room is not as good as we once thought of it. And so, that’s where the signing comes in. And we get to talk about kind of what is the uh overall goal here. Now, Javvante Williams is leading the pack at the running back position. 139 rush attempts in nine games, nine touchdowns, 809 yards. For majority of the first, what are we going to say, seven weeks, he was one of the best running backs in the NFL. And he still is. I mean, he still has that in him, but past couple games, he just hasn’t looked like himself. And partially because he’s had to legitimately be the bellcow back. Like there is not a better term for what Javvante Williams have had to do the past two weeks than be the bellcow back since my Sanders has gone down. Legitimately, he’s been the guy who’s had to carry the rock. And sometimes he’s been successful, sometimes it’s been rough. Obviously, the fumble against Arizona looms large right now coming into the buy. That’s why the Cowboys made this signing. I’ve made y’all wait long enough. Let’s go into the report from Brandon Lorie. Um it was reported that the Cowboys have resigned running back Malik Davis to the practice squad per the NFL. Now, funny enough, Malik Davis is the guy that they started on the roster over Javvante or excuse me, Jaden Blue this past Monday against the Arizona Cardinals. And yet, they cut him when they traded for Quinnon Williams because they had to cut somebody off the 53man roster. Um, they chose running back Malik Davis. And until they signed him, the only two running backs, not just on the active roster, on the entire Cowboys organization, that includes practice squad, they were the only two running backs. Now, Malik Davis is not going to light the world on fire. I’m not expecting him to be something crazy, but he’s been with the organization for a while now. He’s been on the team’s practice squad since 2022 when he signed in Dallas as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Florida. Florida. that coming here from Josh Sanchez of Dallas Cowboys SI. And so that’s step one when it comes to practice squad members. You know the organization, you know what’s expected of you and your a position of need and can also play in multiple areas. And we’ve seen that Malik Davis is if asked upon, he can play in that um let’s say special teams role. Now, this season, he actually appeared in three different games for the Dallas Cowboys. Back on October 19th and October 26, he faced off against Washington and Denver, accumulating two carries, both in the Denver game, three yards, and had a long of two. So, nothing to report there. And then he had one carry against Arizona, rushing for three yards. But again, the weird thing about this and why I think this is such a I want to call it a sneaky weird signing is because they have Jaden Blue. He’s a fifth round rookie was very good at Texas and they don’t want to use him. They don’t. We go back to his stat sheet. Four games, 22 carries, 65 yards. He’s not played terrible. You want to see terrible that Malik Davis has play terrible. I never really have a chance. Why are we not using him more is the question I have, especially when Javvante and his stats, I’m not going to say they’ve gone down, but they definitely haven’t been as productive as you would expect and as you saw in the early part of the season. And so for the Dallas Cowboys and for this organization, I asked the question, what is the plan with the running back room? Because now you have an extra guy on the practice squad, a guy that you pulled up and signed to the active roster not a week ago. I I’m just so confused by what the planning is, especially since the offense. They’ve been very good. They look lackluster against the Arizona Cardinals, but that’s besides the point. I I I’m just I’m kind of at a baffle for words. And also am wondering what the end goal for this running back room is. Is it to play Javvante Williams until you run him into the dirt? Is it to not get Jane Blue out there because he’s a rookie and you don’t believe that rookies, especially rookie running backs, should touch the ball? I mean, what is it gonna take? Is Gvante going to have to go down? I knock on wood. I don’t want that to happen. But like, they don’t want to play Jane Blue. They don’t. And I don’t understand why. I know he had the ankle injury in um training camp or rather preseason, whatever that kind of both that area. But what I don’t understand is there was so much excitement behind him. there was so much prowess. Obviously, it helps that he’s from University of Texas and playing for the Cowboys. I mean, that lineage automatically makes you a guy who everybody’s going to be excited to see, but at the same aspect, I think that excitement was warranted by things he was doing in training camp, things he was doing in the only game he got to play in preseason. And now we kind of sit here, it’s, you know, by week, week 10, right in the middle of the season, and we’re thinking, yeah, we haven’t seen much of him. Yeah. I mean, Javvante has come out here and played great. That’s great. But we also didn’t expect for Miles Sanders to get injured. I I I’m a little confused. Hunter Lipkkey has been playing more than Jaden Blue. And so, I don’t really know where this ends. I don’t really know what the question becomes. If, you know, god forbid you do lose Javvante, god forbid that this running back room, you know, loses any more people. You’ve got to start playing him, though. Like it’s not like he’s gone out there and fumbled the ball every time. Has he ran well? No. Has he looked good? Not the best. But at the same time, the one game that I really think he looked bad, that was his first game ever in the NFL against the New York Jets. Four carries, seven yards. Since then, I mean, it’s been okay. Obviously, Carolina, three carries, no yards, and it looked great. Kind of got unlucky with the defensive line, the offensive line. But seven carries, 29 yards, and a 4.1 average. I’ll take that. Six carries, 29 yards, 3.6 average. I’ll take that. Especially when he had a 14 yardd run against Denver. Granted, garbage time, whatever. I’m a little confused. Um, Malik Davis signs. That’s great. You have that backend guy. I expect him to be pulled up on the active roster a couple times. I can’t tell you I’d be shocked if in a couple weeks there’s an injury and they decide to sign him to the active roster. I think there’s a bunch of different things we can talk about with that. But that is the news of the day here on Cowboys Digest. We appreciate you tuning in and for now, we’ll see you later here on the show. Pisakas.

  1. 😂😂😂 he doesn't get clock, he's not a bust cause even if he doesn't protect n all that sxxx. They can use him as a receiving specialist out of the backfield. They don't use him for WTF he's good for. Typical Dallas Cowboys sxxx. Then he'll go elsewhere n be a key piece 2a teams offense. Give him 2 Andy Reid if he's a bust. Guarantee he plays a key role

  2. Yeah I know they need to play jayla blue more and give him a chance man you got to let him play to see how he could play I think you'll be all right if I just start playing anymore

  3. U believe we brought MAFA up and Blue is a rookie and has fumbles I wanted to see him in the passing game more screens some flat routes
