Maybe if Jessie Bates’s agent didn’t demand he reset the market at a position that doesn’t mean all that much to winning (look at Atlanta’s record with him there) we’d both be better off. But no, he decided he couldn’t live on 10+ million per year (no, not the max he could have made like Tee Higgins) in Cincinnati and he had to go waste the rest of his prime on bad teams in Atlanta.

Why don’t the Bengals just pay every best player at every best position a max contract? Why hasn’t the front office just given max contracts to Joe, Tee, Bates, Hendrickson, Boyd, every single offensive lineman in the league? Why aren’t they spending $1.5 billion? Terrible front office, has no clue how to go out and get talent.
