FINALLY! Miami Heat Fans Get The News They’ve Been Waiting For!
Welcome into the Heat Report by Chat Sports. I am Nick Rolloloff and we have a very positive video here on Sunday morning as the Heat just got back-to-back wins against the Charlotte Hornets on Friday and on Saturday night at home against the Portland Trailblazers. But the positivity comes all from the performance on Saturday night by Nola Yovic, the fourth year forward who signed a massive extension this off season, paying him about 15 mil per season, has gotten off to a horrific start this year. There’s no sugar coating it. Him and KL Wear have been a massive disappointment. But Yoic finally had that breakout game this season last night against the Portland Trailblazers which allowed Miami to get a big win on the second night of a back-to-back at home against the Blazers. They beat Portland 136 to 131. And this was no easy game. Like this isn’t the Trailblazers of old. Portland came into this game 5 and3. and the last game they played was a win against the reigning champion Oklahoma City Thunder who were undefeated before losing to Portland. So, the Blazers certainly are a competitive and good basketball team. And for the Heat to be able to beat them at home with no Tyler Herro, no BAM at a bio is just huge stuff and shows that this team really is going to be competitive and in the playoff hunt for the entire year. And if you’re fired up, and we’re going to get into Nicole Yoic’s performance here more in a second, but hit that thumbs up icon. Let’s get the 300 likes. This Heat team is six and four. I asked for them to be five and five after the first 10 games because it was a brutal first 10 games and they went six and four. So, I’m happy. Show me you’re happy. Hit that thumbs up icon. Yeah, but Yovic’s performance cannot be overshadowed because he really has been disappointing this season. But off the bench in this one, he played 31 minutes, was a team high plus 20 in the plus minus department. He finished with a team high 29 points. He had nine rebounds, six assists with two steals and a block. Shot 10 of 16 from the field and three of seven from beyond the arc. He really was the difference maker in this game. And it all started with his second quarter little spurt there. in the first quarter when he came in the first like couple minutes there he was really struggling down the stretch in that first kind of stint but then in that fresh second quarter he absolutely went off the heat ran their offense through him and he really paid dividends and this was the Yoic that we thought we were going to be getting at the start of the year I don’t think anyone expected him to average 29 points nine rebounds and six assists but like I very much said throughout the year or in the offseason that like I think Yovic averaging 15, six and six should probably be the goal, the expectation. And then obviously being someone who really impacts winning basketball and even if Yovic didn’t have that statline, the way he was playing yesterday was impact of winning basketball. And that’s what’s more important than anything because yeah, Yoic turned the ball over a little bit too much last night, six uh to battling on the glass. He was crashing on the boards. He was forcing the defense to collapse because he was driving to the rim so aggressively. And he had some great finishes last night through contact, the euro steps, the floaters. Um it was just an allaround really impressive performance. And then when he’s able to knock down threes consistently as well. I know he went just three of seven, but he was at 1.3 of five. It really draws the defense out to him, which allows him to get to his strength, which is driving to the rim. Yoic is at his best when he’s getting to the cup, getting two feet in the paint, finishing or collapsing the defense, and then utilizing his skill set as a passer and the ability to see the entire floor to make the passes to the open shooter. So, the Heat finally getting a big Nico Yoic game was just so positive and it’s so big to see and it couldn’t make me happier. We got more performances to discuss here in a second, but how you feeling about the Heat? I mentioned off the top I asked for the Heat to go five and five in their first 10 games. I would be happy with that with no Tyler Herro, but they’re six and four with missing Bam twice, missing Norman Powell three times, missing Hero Doll 10 games. Like I feel pretty good, but how you feeling about the Heat scale 1 to 10 down in the comment section. I think we also have to talk about Pel Larson because this kid might be just a budding star. I’m really feel like he is taking that step forward and it’s a kind of a shock to me that in the first like two or three games of the year he really didn’t get any playing time. Like it took Norman Powell’s groin injury to insert Pel Larson into the starting lineup and then ever since then he’s been fantastic. So, I don’t know what Spo was seen in practice, but this kid Larson, I I don’t know how you pull him out of the starting lineup because against the Blazers on Saturday night, he had 16 points and five assists on seven of 10 shooting. And the part that really just is impressive to me is the little stuff that he does. Like, I saw someone on Twitter say like he’s got a little mix of like Derek White and Christian Brown in him. And I got to be honest, I I couldn’t agree more. Like the way Larson is able to defend, rebound, cut off the ball, he is just tremendous. Like you go back to the game on Friday night against the Hornets, 19 points on eight of 11 shooting. So over his last two games, he’s got a combined 35 points on 15 of 21 shooting. Are you kidding? That’s just absolutely ridiculous stuff from Pel Larson. And I’ve said it multiple times. I do not envy Eric Spolstra’s job whatsoever because the fact he has to decide who moves to the bench and who loses minutes when Tyler Herro returns I feel horrific because this starting lineup of DaVon Larson Powell Wiggins and then either Bam or Wear has been really good in the early parts of the season and then you have Hakez coming off the bench, Yoic coming off the bench and they’ve been more productive. As of late, Himeme just continues to roll. The guy is stuff in the stat sheet. I mean, he he’s just dominating teams off the bench. I mean, if he’s not the favorite to win six man of the year, that would be an absolute travesty at this point. But like, who loses minutes? Because the Heat are playing nine players right now. They’re not even playing the rookie Casperonis. And I’m sorry, like I love Cass a lot and this is not an indictment on him. How is he ever going to see playing time unless another massive injury occurs? Because you’re not benching DaVon. You’re not benching Pel Larson. You’re not benching Norman Powell. You’re playing Tyler Herro when he returns. And Drew Smith has been unbelievably good off the bench, too, as a defensive guard. Now, maybe the answer is Hero comes back. You move DaVon Mitchell to the bench and you start Hero, Larson, Powell, uh, Wiggins, and Bam. And then you have DaVon just basically be the Drew Smith off the bench, and that that’s the role. But like I I just don’t know how the Heat are going to navigate all of these guys. And it’s a good problem to have. Like let’s not act like it’s not. It’s good that Miami has so many players that are capable of playing and contributing to winning basketball, but it just creates for a little bit of an uneven rotations and like what do you do and do you have a quick hook on some guys? Like it’s tough. But make sure you subscribe. We’ll be live again on Wednesday for the Cavs Heat game and we’ll also be live on Friday too for Heat Bulls for the NBA Cup which Miami is technically leading the division being 1 and0 and having an 18-point differential. But there’s a couple other things I want to talk about here and we’ll stay away from how did the Heat navigate this, but I mentioned how good Larson has been. I want to also give some love to Drew Smith because boy has there been a player that has been able to change his public image in the eyes of Heat fans like Drew Smith before cuz I don’t know two years ago we were calling for this guy’s head all metaphorically of course where we were like this guy is the worst NBA player we’ve ever seen. Why do the Heat continue to invest in him? Why does Eric Spolster continue to play him on a two-way contract? because he was so bad offensively. We always knew he was a pitbull. He he he defends. He plays hard. He does all the little things correctly, but he was such a non-factor offensively. It was really like, okay, you’re playing five on four out there. But that is no longer the case. Drew Smith has really evolved into a above average three-point shooter off of the catch. He’s never going to do anything off the dribble, but if he gets the ball swung to him or a kick out or a offensive rebound pass out to him, like he will feel confident shooting it and when it leaves his hand, like I expect it to go in, he feels like a very controlled, confident shooter and he shoots about 40% from beyond the arc. But the part that’s really impressed me with his offensive evolution here is his ability to drive to the rim and finish. He’s got a very crafty bag around the rim. He’s got the one-handed finishes with the left, with the right. He’s got a little bit of a running hook shot as well that he brings out sometimes. Like, am I trusting Drew Smith on the stretch of games? No, absolutely not. But in these small stints at the end of the first quarter, early second quarter, and end of the third quarter, early fourth quarter, like I do believe he is very helpful and he plays an intricral part for this Heat team. Like you have DaVon Mitchell harassing your leading ball handler for the first seven minutes of the game and then he comes out and you’re like, “Oh, we’re finally getting a rest from Mitchell’s defense from 80 feet from the basket all the way to the rim.” Oh no, Drew Smith’s going to come in and do the same thing. Those guys are just two P’s in a pod defensively and they work so good. Like, and I mentioned this offensive evolution. Drew Smith last night against the Blazers played 22 minutes. He had 13 points and six assists with four steals. The guy is just a playmaker. And he was able to get to the rim and draw fouls yesterday as well. Like he didn’t even make a three last night against the Blazers. He went four six from the field and he shot six free throws and made five of them. Like the Heat just have these collection of guys that are playing for the team, not themselves, and they’re able to conjure up winning basketball. Like anybody can beat you on a given night. Friday night, Norman Powell led the way. Hakez led the way off the bench. You get a win. Saturday night, it’s Nicole Yovic, it’s Norman Powell, it’s Drew Smith off the bench. Like, you have games where it can be PL Larson who’s had like three straight games in double figures. It can be DaVon Mitchell. Like, you have just such a collection of guys that are playing unselfish, playing team basketball. They’re all defending. They’re getting out in transition. And I just couldn’t be more joyful to watch this team play. Like every night the Heat play, I am excited. And this is a breath of fresh air because yeah, we’ve had really good moments over the last 5 years. There have been times where this team has played boring, ugly basketball, but still been able to get wins. I mean, this is entertaining basketball at the least. And you look back at the end of last season, I I think I told you guys this on live streams and videos. It was a chore to watch the Heat play in in March, in April, and then in that playoff series. It was a chore. Like the team wasn’t good. It wasn’t fun. And they stood no shot on a nightly basis to really give you a reason to feel optimistic. Every game you watch the Heat play has been a battle. It’s been close and they feel like a team that can really make noise. And this is without a band and without a Tyler Herro with them right now. and you hope this only gets elevated when they are fully healthy. Bam playing, hero playing. It’s going to be a lot of fun this season and I’m really excited to see how it ultimately shakes out. Um, we’re going to be here for another video tomorrow and we’ll be live on Wednesday and Friday as well. So, make sure you hit that sub button and make sure you join the channel. I’ll see you. Go Heat.

If jovic can keep up some momentum, he will be a great trade asset for a whale
Jacquez, Pelle, & Simone has been this year’s breaking out players. 😊
Hopefully a game like this can slingshot Jović out of his mental slump and he can make this the new norm
Saw the title and thought we traded Terry lol
He still ant worth no 60 smh still a disappointment this year
I'm really hoping this wasn't a fluke performance by Niko. If he can lock in on that kind of performance throughout the year, we are a serious dark horse for a deep run
Larsson has been ballin, he needs to stay in the rotation somehow.
Niko 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Eat it, Ingrates.
We are on pace to win like 50 games. I neeeeeed it! Cuz I predicted 49 for us at the beginning of the season.
Trade hero I the deadline for two first rounders and extend Norman!
Tyler better show out when he returns because Larsson plays on BOTH sides of the ball. We can't have teams picking on Tyler because of his lack of defense.
You can't sit Davion down, his defense has to cover up Tyler's lack of it.
I love this team. They’re fun, they protect home court, they battle to the end win or lose, and they play the way I would want my team to play basketball. Everyone puts their fingerprints on the game.
I feel like we have a chance to win any game, whereas last year I went into most games hopeless.
Jovic had one good game. The heat made a mistake paying him all that money until he proves it an entire season.
Where is the Miami heat finding these guys and the Italian dude I didn’t expect him to be a good player
Bench Bam, lol
Herro off the bench because his defense still sucks.
Bro it’s only one game against a bad team stop talking about basketball ya don’t know shit about basketball lol
massive 60 mill in 4 years , that was joke? Trade him to mDenver for 20 mill, 4 Cam J. 24 mill per y and cant hit a shit
Jovic is still a joker…watch when he plays against other team not soft Portland…he's not it…the other talent is way better…
Problem is Herro doesn't FIT US….OUR DEFENSE IS BETTER …herro is a LIABILITY
That contract was not 50mil per season🤦🏾♂️ It was 50mil over 3yrs I believe
How is Ware a massive disappointment when he has 77 rebounds in 221 minutes while Bam has played 243 min with 66 rebounds? Ware blocks 4 times the the shots per minute that Bam does. Ware is better than Bam at getting steals. Ware is a streaky shooter but he is still a productive player who will only improve with minutes on the floor against good bigs. Ware is shooting 3.5% higher tha Bam. We won 2 game without either Tyler or Bam. Ware has more good games than Nikola so give Ware his props. Norm Davion, JJJ, Wiggs and Pel have all been great this year.
Trade JOVIC / Rozier / 1st for Morant
JOVIC is ass clown
If Kalel would step up his game, they could be better.
Their defensive rating per possession has been better without Bam …. 🤔
