I don't think this would be a serious consideration this offseason, but it's interesting nonetheless.

Ramos or Schmitt would be more likely to move out of the Giants' younger position players IMO.

  1. I’m not saying they should or shouldn’t….but wouldn’t this be a great time to trade him especially getting 2 GG. I’m just saying his value may never be higher.

But no, seriously… if you’re sellers you listen to all offers. That’s technically “thinking about” it, but probably not for long.

  3. Yeah Bailey is amazing. But how much is his value going to dip when we move to ABS? Genuine question, I don’t know the answer. If it’s significant, then a trade is a valid consideration.

  4. Devastating news for the Gameday Thread experts who constantly recommend sending Bailey to AAA and signing any catcher who socks a few more dingers

  5. Keep Bailey until we can find an average+ defensive catcher who can hit .250 with an occasional home run

  6. I just dont see why. He is cheap, he wont cost a fortune to extend (teams pay disproportionately more for offense) and the guy should age well, bc he cant hit at all to begin with and so him losing bat speed hardly is a worry. I just see him as a guy who is always going to be more valuable than what yoh have to pay him, so no point in getting rid of him.

Now if the FA market changes and all of a sudden he is demanding 30 mill/season for his defense, then thats different.

  7. I wouldn’t be opposed to it. His defense is 2nd to none, but the bat is just so bad. If he slips defensively at all, he would be unplayable.

  8. I am certain that the Giants considered, ever so briefly, offers for any number of “untradeable” players, because that’s what front offices do, make and consider trade proposals. Does anytone believe that GMs wouldn’t dare ask about the availability of star players? As much as someone might want to beleive that the Giants wouldn’t part with Webb, if some club made a good enough offer, he would be traded.
The trick is finding a deal that works for both sides.

  9. Cleveland just gave Austin Hedges (much older than Bailey) $4 million so defense first catchers are still in demand.

  10. Everyone shitting on his bat but he had some of the biggest and most memorable hits of the year

  11. If they considered it at all I wonder how much the eventual ABS factored into this.

Bailey is a little divisive but our catching depth really sucks. He’s clearly a better option than anyone in our farm
