[Romero] The Seibu Lions have approved the posting of 27-year-old ace Tatsuya Imai. If the request is approved, he will have 45 days to negotiate with all 30 MLB teams. The Yankees are expected to be among the favorites to land Imai, according to sources.

  1. I question if he would be a target only because we have so much money already tied up in the rotation with Cole, Fried and Rodon all making a ton of money and being signed for 3+ years.

That being said, you can never have too much pitching and if this is where they want to spend their resources I won’t be mad

  2. Would be really cool to get him. Just curious about what their overall budget is this offseason.

  3. Why not, if anything go with a 6 man rotation or a long reliever. We don’t know what we are getting from Cole

  4. Have to hope some of these guys are competitive and don’t want to join the team that is already stacked with several of their fellow countrymen. But rather want to join a team like the Yankees to hopefully help beat them.

  5. perhaps we should copy the dodgers and 1) spend a fuck ton of money because we have it and 2) get all the starting pitching we can because you can never ever ever have enough pitching

  6. Every year:

“Yankees are expected to be among….”

27 days later, “the Dodgers have signed…”

  7. For once, can we be the favorites to land a new Japanese action figure or two or three this time and not LA?

  8. I feel like nowadays you expect 1-2 of your rotation to be out or battling injuries. This makes a lot of sense to me

  9. The Yankees have been such poor judges of NPB talent, Matsui is their only success story. They passed on Shohei when it’s hard to believe they couldn’t have outbid the Angels for him. The second and third order effects from that decision can’t be overstated.

  10. Can they cut out the BS with posting and expedite Dodger signings as not to torture us fans of other teams?
