The Dallas Cowboys ROBBED the Packers… How They’re Rebuilding the RIGHT Way
When the Cowboys traded away Micah Parsons, I wasn’t particularly happy. I’m sure a lot of you guys know that. You can go watch my video after that news broke. I was really, really mad. But after I got over the anger, I kind of thought about it a little bit. I said, I’m going to give this team a chance. I know we’ve given them a million chances at this point. I said they could parlay some of these picks, resources, and cap savings. They have a real chance to fix this defense in a hurry. And right now based on the Quinn and Williams trade, I think they did a really good job. So in today’s video, I want to ask the question, did the Cowboys fleece or rob or win the trade with the Green Bay Packers? Let’s talk about it. [Applause] There’s three reasons in particular I think that this was an awesome deal for Dallas. Not that I loved them trading Michael Parsons, but Michael Parsons isn’t here here anymore. So, you got to look at what they’re doing with the resources. Getting Quinn and Williams has made that trade much, much sweeter. And at the end of this video, we’re going to talk about why the national media seems to hate this move so much. But for now, let’s look at my three reasons. Number one is the contract numbers. The Williams deal has Dallas taking on the remaining contract owed to him, approximately $7.8 8 million this year and about 47.3 million over the next two seasons. Williams cap hits will be 8.4 million the rest of this year, 21.7 million in 2025 with a potential out after that year and a $25.5 million cap hit in 2027 before he’s an unrestricted free agent. It’s totally possible that Dallas can move some of that money around, lower the hits, add void years, do all of that stuff, and they still have that potential out after 2026, which wouldn’t be a good idea giving up the draft capital that you did. Quinn Williams needs to be here for the long term, but it is an option. If it were to go completely south and not work out, you would acrew no dead money moving on before 2027, which means you have a lot more cap flexibility than maybe the Packers do in the next couple of years because Micah Parsons for the Packers is going to account for a $9.9 million cap hit in 2025, 19.2 million in 2026, 26.8 million in 2027, and then 42.2 million in 2028. And there is a potential out in his contract in 2029. They added some voyers to the back of it. They could probably move some money around, but at the end of the day, it is going to cost the Packers more in the long run for Micah Parsons. And you guys can debate down below in the comments. Is it worth it for Dallas? Did they make the make the right move? That’s literally why I’m making this video. I want to get a pulse on what Cowboys fans think about this so far. You look at the difference in those numbers, assuming the Cowboys do what they’re supposed to with Williams contract and other guys. I think this actually opens the door to really rebuilding this defense and even extending George Pickins because there’s so much money on that side of the ball that can be moved around outside of their stars. Quinnon Williams star. Osa Odigizua hasn’t played well this year, but Dallas paid him. Don Bland also has not played well this year. I expect him to be better in 2026, but someone that you can build around. Outside of that, Dallas is about to have so many opportunities to find money. Dallas could get $21.5 million in cap space from cutting Kenny Clark this off season with zero in dead money. Williams is only making 300,000 more than Dallas would have paid Kenny Clark. They could also save around $14 million cutting Terrence Steel post June 1 and another $15.5 million in cutting Trayvon Diggs. That right there is $54 million if my if my math is correct. I’m not very good at math. Around 54 $55 million next year. that goes along with having the draft picks and the money and the resources to truly rebuild this defense from the inside out. And that was my second reason. Okay, guys, if you’re anything like me, you’ve hit the point where just getting to the gym feels like an entire mission. You got to get ready, you got to drive there, workout, drive back home. It just takes so much time. And that’s why I got to tell you guys about the sponsor of today’s video, Avaron Active. Say goodbye to boring workouts and hello to better habits. I have the Avaron Strong rower. And let me tell you guys, this thing is amazing. Right at my house, I can get a full workout in. All one word, double move. You can get $50 off your purchase at Avaron Active. Thank you so much to them for sponsoring the channel. Now, let’s get back into the video. The draft picks. A lot of people were going to say this is why they didn’t like the move that Dallas gave up too much for Quinn and Williams, a guy that’s 27 years old, blah blah blah. At the end of the day, they still have two first round picks in 2026, which means that they can either sit there and pick or parlay that into getting a second and a third round pick back. If they were to move off of one of those first, if they were to trade back in the draft, they might could recoup their second round pick that they spent on Williams and recoup their third round pick that they spent on Pickkins. and then you’re just going to sit there and draft at 1, two, and three. We’ll have to wait and see when that time comes, who’s sitting there, who’s available in the first round, but it is possible and an option for me to like this trade. They don’t even need to do that because the main thing is I don’t care about giving up a second round pick. I could care less that Dallas gave up that second because they stink at drafting in the second round. That’s like trading Kelvin Joseph away. Who cares about the picks? How often would this team in the past in the past couple of years say, “Oh, well, we traded Michael away. We have four first round picks and we’re going to get this guy and this guy. We’re going to rebuild it that way.” No. They’ve just been awful at drafting recently, especially defensive interior players. So, go get a guy with legit pedigree, someone that is a actually good football player that you can legitimately build this defense around. Forget the second round picks. forget the ceiling of this guy and the cheap labor here. Who cares? Dallas still has two first round picks in 2026 and they still have a 2027 first round pick. Nothing has has really changed in my mind about how you can rebuild this thing except now you have Quinn Williams. And my third and final reason is the talent and the player and the acquisition matches the Dallas Super Bowl window. Quinnon Williams over the past six years of his career, he was drafted third overall in the 2019 draft, has been phenomenal. This year alone, 2025, he is second in solo tackles, first in force fumbles, first in run stops, 14th in hurries, 34th in hits, 26th in total pressures, and he ranks first in run defense according to PFF grades. Once again, it is PFF. You know, he’s got to be playing pretty good football to be the number one defensive interior guy against the run. And I actually just made a video on his all 22 yesterday. He was phenomenal. That definitely checks out. This is a guy that is going to legitimately change your run defense. I don’t need to sit here and explain it to you guys. They’ve been exposed in the interior run game over and over and over and they they can’t generate pressure in the passing game. and you just got Quinn Williams, a multiple pro bowler, allp pro pedigree, and a guy that is a disruptor not only in the passing game, but the run game as well. So instead of just banking on, okay, we’re going to use one of the first round, we’re going to use those first round picks and we’re going to go find us a defensive tackle. No, when the guy is sitting there that is as good as as Williams is, you take the opportunity. Getting a guy that is going to help you win in 2026, 2027, and 2028 because to me, that is the Super Bowl window. You have Dak Prescott under contract. You have probably Pickkins. Lamb is going to be here. Quinnon Williams, Oso Dizua, Don Bland, Cooper BB, Tyler Booker, Tyler Smith, Gayton. Like that’s a nice foundation to start building around. I don’t think people realize too how much on the defensive side of the ball there’s going to be change next year. I just mentioned all of the money that the Cowboys can save. Hopefully they use that in free agency and resign pickings and do things for their own team, but there’s going to be so much turnover on the defensive side of the ball. It’s why they haven’t invested in it and it looks as bad as it does right now because they haven’t put any resources into it. Now we’re seeing those resources. Kenneth Murray won’t be here next year. Donovan Wilson won’t be here next year. Dante Fowler Jr. will be gone. Javian Clowning, Kaier Elim, Payton Turner, Sam Williams, Jack Sandborn, Wan Thomas will be gone. Deone Clark will be gone. Ready Stewart, Josh Butler. None of those guys will likely be here. They’re all going to be unrestricted free agents. And I don’t see a world where Dallas brings hardly any of those guys back. I like where this team and this organization is headed. They’re not just saying, “Oh, we’re going to bet on our draft and we’re such a good drafting team.” No, they went and got an allpro type player that legitimately changes the interior of your defense. It’s why I like this deal so much. It does feel a bit strategic. I don’t think trading away Micah Parsons was strategic, but now they’re figuring it out, working on it from the inside out, from the trenches, which is where they’ve struggled for the longest time now, and then hopefully paying or drafting linebackers, safeties, corners, etc. They don’t have a bunch of money tied up in a ton of different contracts for guys that aren’t playing well. Luckily, you can get out from the Digs contract. You can get out from the Terrence Steel contract. You can get out from under the Kenny Clark contract without it hurting you a ton in dead money. That’s what I don’t get about these ESPN articles and grading the Cowboys F and this was a terrible trade. They gave up too much money. Dallas isn’t trying to win in 2025. I People cannot seem to understand why they made this trade. This is for 2026 and 2027 when you really go all in and try to rebuild this defense. Granted, all-in for the Cowboys looks a lot different than maybe the Rams or somebody that just trades away all their first round picks, but this is going to be the closest version that we get to that. You gave up a first and a second, a first in 2027, a second in 2026. They have Quinnon Williams, Don Bland, Oso Diggizua. Everybody else is out. I love it. I can’t understand the hate unless you’re like, “Okay, it’s not saving their 2025 season,” which I 100% agree. That’s also not why they made the trade. So, thank you guys so much for watching. Please keep Kenny Clark too…
RIP Marshawn Kneeland. crazy news to hear this morning
Im not cutting Kenny Clark…….
Marshawn Kneeland has just passed away. REST IN Power no further about how he passed.
In the long run it's a win.
They could do a lot.bbut we ass this year
Cutting Clark should NOT be an option!
The Cowboys will be paying 3 DTs(None of which are even good pass rushers) $64 million next year, with no way to pay George Pickens in sight. How did they win this trade again??
If Dallas had won against Chicago, Arizona or Denver, I would be thrilled. Currently, I just hope Dallas takes down Philadelphia at home.
Dallas – 2 firsts in 2026
Dallas – 1st and 2nd in 2027
Middle of defensive line – stacked.
Tyler Smith paid.
Dak and CeeDee paid
We are good moving forward.
Dak loves Pick
At the end on URFAโs after the season I like Juanyeh coming back and playing strong.. heโs big strong physical and can play run and pass good which is why heโs been at Free but I think heโs a better SS
Packers are tryna contend for Super Bowl you guys are a year away from moving on from Dak Prescott bum ass and rebuilding and yall think yall won the trade ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
They had to do something when they had the opportunity. I think itโs a good trade. Yes next year is the year this trade was for. Our record is too bad this year. Hopefully the next 8 games we can start to see some improvement with the defense.
Dallas had already won the Micah trade by getting two 1st rd picks + Kenny Clark from Green Bay in exchange for an undersized DE whose hype far outweighs his actual impact on winning, AND they signed Micah to a 47M/yr contract after giving up those assets to Dallas. Now that Dallas has flipped one of those 1st rd picks to get a top-3 DT in Quinnen Williams to pair up with Kenny Clark in the middle, Dallas has absolutely crushed the Micah trade.
Please stop talking about trading Clark because I think the combo of Clark and Quinnen Williams will be a force opposing offenses will not be able to handle.
100% yes!!
Super Bowl teams always have really good DTs
well they better be thinking of tanking this year cuz they did this trade two losses too late….
How can u still have hope n dallas cowboys Jerry is a very bad gm who care about $ not championships all yaw talk about is $ not win n๐
We still need to have linebackers that can fill the right hole/be in the right place… not look like a deer in headlights.
I would release o and stay with Kenny and Williams
Omg I have watched a few of your videos everyone Dallas has is a superstar you say????
Never talk badly about them, the worst defence and front office in the nfl omg itโs so obvious that Dallas should have been a seller at the deadline!
There is only one way dak will ever sniff a Super Bowl in Dallas and that is with a defence thatโs elite top 3 scoring, not a shit zone defence that elite qbs cut up!
Dallas overpaid average talent always have! Hype up average players aka osa?
What he now a 20 million a year back up lol
Dallas truely is elite at hammering crap teams, when over teams pull their starters Dallas keeps theirs in to run up the score because dak wants them stats.
Need a rebuild canโt have sub par qb highest paid player ever and highest paid receiver lol what a mess just rebuild, we canโt trade for shit look at the 4th for Mingo and now Pickens is going to want 35m a year doesnโt help when your quarterback is telling your locker room everyone deserves top market deals shut up dak
Where shit should of been Selling not buying omg
Omg stop taking guards in first round their fifth year options are so overpriced, no smart team takes guards in 1st, even Tyler smith not that good.
And stop drafting measurables and draft good players omg
๐๐ ๐คฃ๐a ridiculous take on the Cowboys trade๐๐ ๐คฃ๐…Goodluck ๐
Totally agree with you bro you cannot build a great defense without signing 2 or 3 different maker's from free ageny you just. can't do it from the draft alone..what if you don't hit on does picks you are back to square 1.(Mazi) 1 example of that..
They have to find a way to keep Clark for me to say they out right won it.. I say extend him or better yet QWill and kick his money down the road a bit.. you canโt go back to having no NT that makes no sense. 80% Kenny Clark is better than All of the NT they have had since Ratliff.
This is what I would like it to look like game one of next season.
4 DTs – Clark, Williams, OSA, Random Special teamer
5 Edge- Hendrickson, Clowney, Donovan Ez, Cap casualty like Chubb.. and a special teamer like James Houston
5 LB – Overshown, Avrell Reese, Wilson to help and to play special teams, Shamar James to develop and play SPTs and cap causality like Bobby Wagner to teach and fill in and is on pace for 180 tackles.
5 CBs – Bland, Revel, jermod McCoy, Diggs** Carson or Elam
4 Safety- Hooker, Fitzpatrick, Wilson, Thomas.
A new defensive coordinator
Bro itโs like they drafting him early now and not 2027. So they really just gave up a 2nd round pick. They still have 3 first round picks.
Didnt rob the packers they got what they wanted and there in win now mode
Micah made our whole secondary way better. And backers. Until quinnen show me he can do that. I will say we lost on the trade
I shut the video off when you said cut Kenny Clark lmfao
Lmao! You are nuts! Stupidity is doing and saying the same thing over and over! Williams is a great player and a good pick up but he's not as good as Parsons who WILL BE in the Hall of Fame! Williams was needed and with overshown coming back with Wilson, they may become better but JJ acted way too late this season to make a damn move! We need the Eagles to play horrible to even have a chance and it's not likely, bud! Be more honest, you sound like them media bias commentators no matter the record. Dallas needs to get way better real fast or it'll be the same motto as always, " wait until next year"
Honestly glad Micah is gone. Was disappointed at first but man he talked so damn much we need less โme me meโ type players on this team
It would be diabolical if the whole plan all along was to trade Micah to get draft picks and use those picks to get a player like Williams and then Micah comes back after his deal is over. Kind of like how the Cavs did with Lebron. I understand they let James walk but thats because they were going to be a lottery team for the years he was in Miami.
The Cowboys are elite at drafting in the first 3 rounds. This narrative that they dont draft well is false. Randy Gregory great player but was suspended a lot. Trevon Diggs, regardless of what he is now, when he was healthy he was one of the best corners in football, Jaylon Smith made a couple of probowls but his knee injury zapped his speed and reaction times, Chidobe Awuzie, wasn't great but was far from bad, Sam Williams looked like he was turning the corner but got hurt and hasnt been the same since, D-Law, S. Lee, M. Bennett, A. Bryant, and Bruce Carter to name a few. As a matter of fact in the last 20 years Dallas is tied with Denver for drafting probowl players. Oh, almost forgot, Donovan Ezeriaku whos going to be a stud sooner than later.
Cut or demand Diggs restructure because he has regressed significantly. The Defense will take time to completely rebuild. Reminds me of the Herschel Walker trade. Give Scotty time and can Eberflus. Cut Elam next year. I see why Buffalo let him goโฆ!
Your crazy. Trading Parsons, and getting Clark?? Parsons is a great player and missed in Dallas. Dak makes 60 mil ? Cut Daks salary. Senile Jerry.
