In today’s NBA matchup, Luca Donuch and the Lakers face LaMelo Ball and a struggling Hornets squad. LA is seven to three in its last 10 with a top four net rating while Charlotte sits at 3 to6 and 24th. Will the Lakers roll or can the Hornets shock them? Watch the full video to find out. [Music] [Music] The thing that jumps out at me, Kevin, is the guard matchup. I mean, both teams have tremendous back courts, and I really think whoever is able to win or control that battle is going to win the game. Here are the starters for Los Angeles. You’ve got Luca Donic, Austin Reeves out there with Ruie Hatchimura. Then there’s Smart and it’s Eightton in at the five spot. Now, Donic following the miss by LaMelo Ball from deep. Donic against ball. And it’s good from Donic on the assist by Reeves. Excellent finish that time inside by Donic. He’s highly skilled. I mean, that’s obvious. What’s not so obvious is how big he is. This guy looks me eye to eye. Bridges against Hatchima on the wing. Reeves. Reeves with a screen on ball. And here’s Tic from the arc. Miller grabs the miss and here’s Sharp right side. Ston [Applause] Diabate the tip in on the offensive rebound. Oh, how about the deaf touch right there, guys. He just guided that ball back up and in. Just a fingertip touch on the ball. That’s exactly right. No need to catch it when you’ve got the kind of soft hands that he does. And dunking the ball is just second nature to Aiden with the right positioning. He’s a threat to throw it down [Applause] for Charlotte. They’ve gone just one of four to get this game started. On the wing, Bridges. It’s stolen by Hatchima. Pass to Donic. Here’s the three and the rebound goes to the Hornets. Ball feeling it out a bit. Just stupendous finish in traffic. You know, because Ball is so skilled, defenders try to get physical with him, rough him up a bit, but it doesn’t phase him. That rarely works against Ball. Now, here is Hatchima. Pass to Eaton in the corner. Smart with it. Here’s Hatchima. And the three ball is good. And that’s exactly what he’s looking for. Draining the triple. Fun thing about the Lakers, Clark, over the last couple seasons, they get themselves to the free throw line. Yeah. And a lot of that is due to the fact they’ve got some real creators in their lineup. Guys who can attack off the dribble at multiple positions from multiple angles and that creates pressure for the defense. Boy, it’s great seeing ball finish with strength like that. showing off the athleticism with that rim rocking throwdown. [Applause] Donic against ball. Donic no good. Charlotte trailing outside. Ston to the inside. It’s stolen by Hatchima [Applause] outside. Some nice passing here by Los Angeles down the top of the key. Reeds Bridges with the board. Not sure what what the D was doing there. Clearly a breakdown. You can ill afford to give a guy like him that good a look. The defense must honor Ball’s three-point shot. He’s more than ready to snipe away if you give him the opportunity to do so. And JJ Reick is called timeout. He wants to check in with his team and regroup. Get ready everyone. Give yourself a round of applause. [Applause] [Applause] first quarter of action. Just under three and a half minutes played. Reeves against Miller. Eight and a screen on Miller. Reeves with it. And that one good. And once he got to the 10, I think he was surprised to find himself that wide open. Well, this early they should be showing a lot more energy on defense. It’s not there. Here’s Diabate. Here’s Ball. And Charlotte again with the bucket. Hey, the mid-range can be touch and go for ball, but he takes a nice smooth shot that time. Now here’s Aon. Defense right on him. Pass to Donic. He makes that one drop. Only a second in five tries. Luca uses his body to create space and then finds the inside look. [Applause] And so it’s ball with it. He brings it up for Charlotte. Bridges outside. Miller outside. [Music] [Applause] Rebound the Lakers. [Applause] Reeves against Bridges. Pass to Aiden and Aiden gets double team. Six to shoot. And that one’s good. Hachimura. And we know Hachimura has a confident personality. You see it there with the rise and fire approach. Nice. Hornets trail by three. Outside. Back to ball. Reeves against Miller and Miller throws it down hard. And what an incredible talent Miller is. What a ferocious finish there. Lakers have gone six to 10 from the field in this ball game. Clark, the 2021 Rookie of the Year, Lamelo Bow, and the only thing holding him back now is his health. It certainly is. And it’s unfortunate because he’s a talented, fun to watch player. He’s already missed a bunch of games early in his career, but he is the total package as a point guard now. Great length at 67 and I still think he has MVP potential. It’s a matter of can he stay on the floor. Capable of running the offense. Don fantastic at getting his teammates involved. Tipped away. It’s stolen by Hatchima. Reeves outside. Outside. Smart. Reeves with the screen for Smart. Down to five on the shot clock. Beyond the arc. And again, it’s the Lakers from Deep. Boy, at the offensive end, his game is so impressive. I mean, he’s a threat every time up the floor. Getting the latest now from our sideline reporter, David Aldridge. David, it’s all yours. Take it away. Thank you, Kevin. Cutter from coach Charles Lee. Obviously, they’re trying to limit the damage. Luca Donic inflicts and that’s at the front of his mind. He said, “Luca is going to get his. We can’t stop that, but we can’t let him set up everyone else for easy ones. When the whole team gets involved, we’re cooked. So they’re going to make him work for every assist out there, guys. Thank you, David. That’s good from Ball. One thing about LaMelo Ball, he can really take over at times, Greg, when he’s healthy and playing well. And a lot of that is just his feel for the game. He processes quickly and then has the talent to execute. It’s pretty hard to stop him when he’s in the flow. Jackson A’s. He’s checked in for the Lakers. Paul hits them both. And at the line, it’s all about consistency with him. His routine, his stroke, it never waivers. Reeves outside. [Music] Back to Donic. And they double up. Donic. Eighton wide open. Off the mark there with the three-point shot. Hornets trail by four. Pass to Diabonte. It’s rebounded by Hayes. That’s exactly the look they wanted, guys. Right guy, right play, wrong result. Spins and foul on the shot. So, he’ll get a chance at the line. Yeah. Way to play an attack and get to the line. And you know, the defense gets their money’s worth on that foul. stopping the layup and not giving up the and one. He misses the free throw. Clark with the Hornets. They were hit with injuries as hard as any team in the NBA in the 2324 season. Kevin, I couldn’t agree with you more. They were so unfortunate in that regard and it’s not anything you can control and it made it almost impossible for them to have a productive season because of those injuries. That’s off as well. So he misses both. Dan Clark for the Lakers. The last two seasons ended in playoff losses to the Denver Nuggets. And I tell you what, they fought hard both times, Kevin. The point differential was only 24 points over the four games in 2023 and just 11 points in 2024. LA actually led most of the five game series but weren’t able to advance. James no good and it’s Smith with the ball. He brings it up for Charlotte trailing by four inside and contact on the shot. So he’ll be shooting free throws here. First personal foul, second team foul. And a moment to look at the scoring approach in terms of where the points are coming from for the Lakers. You know, right from the start, it seemed they got hot from three-point range, pulling apart the defense and racking up the points, too. And I also have to bring up their passing game. They they’ve been moving the ball with great precision so far and creating great looks for their teammates. That free throw missing. In recent seasons, the Charlotte Hornets, Clark, have been very active in the trade market. Well, it seems like they’re always willing and dealing. I mean, they’re on a quest for that perfect fit lineup, moving pieces around, trying to find the right recipe for success. The Lakers making a switch here. Hatchimz checked in. Good on the second free throw. Here’s Reeves. Seven points in the game. Pass to James. Here’s the screen. Shoots and good as it just snugs right down through the net. 152 left to play in the first quarter. Here’s man defended by Vincent. Miller inside working on Hayes. And this is what you like about Miller. Has great range from three, but he can also make tough shots in traffic. Los Angeles leading by three. On the wing, James covered by Smith. shot on the way and James gets it to go. Punch, counter punch. Impressive offensive production early on. Hey guys, this is going to be fun now. I mean, we’ve got ourselves a shootout on tap here. Now, here is Smith. Nothing on the board. Here’s man. No, good with a triple. Los Angeles has gone 306, 50% from deep so far tonight. Hatchiman no good. Hornets trail by five. It’s Miller on the way. He’s defended by Reed and Miller throws it down hard. And offensively Miller is terrific on the perimeter, but he can also play above the rim as well. And here is Los Angeles now. [Applause] Now Reeds, he’s got seven. Reeves with a screen on Smith. And here’s James outside. Down it goes. His third basket. He’s now three for four. Pick works well there. Not much resistance from the deep. Yeah, that’s not the defense you need. You got to be tougher defensively. Miller against Reeves. And here’s Miller. He has six. Plumbley sets the pick for Miller. And they come right back with their own three-pointer. Miller’s got nine. The real come at us point game early puts the defense right up against it. [Applause] Benson with it. Still scoreless. So on the floor for the Lakers to start this second quarter. Gabe Benson is out there with James. Then there’s Hayes. Then it’s Ruie Hatchimura. And it’s Lorravia in it. Small forward. Williams with the ball and Hatchima picks him up defensively on the wing. Man, pass to Plumbley. Now ball pocket six. Launches a three. That one is good. He’s only missed one shot of his six taken on the floor. Ball showing a lot of effervescence on the offensive end. And it’s probably infectious for the rest of his squad. Now here’s James defended by man. And Hayes throws it down. and he can time his passes so perfectly. Wow, what an assist. And we’ve played through the first minute here in the second. Pass to Plumbley. [Music] Ball up top, defended by Vincent. Ball kicks to Williams and that’s out of bounds. Charlotte will retain possession. Yeah, gets a finger on it but just can’t quite come up with the steel. Clearly a careless pass. He got away with one there. [Applause] Just five to shoot. Here’s ball. It falls for the sixth time in seven tries this contest. That’s 86%. With the rise of positionless basketball, Clark, this has to be the most difficult era to be a center. I would not disagree with that, quite honestly. I mean, they’re asked to do a lot. I mean, if they’re not elite rim runners as centers and shot blockers. Oh, wow. Oh, he got fancy with that one. Yeah. Maybe trying to give them the momentum boost they need to break this game open. And I like it. I mean, some coaches might want to see just a sure-handed layin there, but for me, I don’t mind a little extra ball. The pass to man. Williams dishes to Green from 11 ft away. Man can’t hit the pass to Vincent. Pass to James. Good. Nice job down low. James has got 11 points and a little under two and a half minutes gone by here in the second quarter. [Music] Now here’s Green still yet to score. and Green slams it in. Oh, just solid on the one-handed slam. And guys, when it’s a tight ball game like this, he’s the guy they want with the ball. Somebody you can count on. He is an extremely reliable finisher. Charlotte making some changes. Diabate’s checked in and it’s Sexton in for Trey Man. The Lakers also changing it up. Vanderbilt comes in for Ruie Himura and Goodwin subbed in for Gabe Benson. Here in the second quarter, we’ve played a little over two and a half minutes now to the middle and it’s Lorabia missing. Charlotte’s gone three of five from beyond the arc so far tonight. A moment now to hear from our sideline reporter, Hall of Famer David. David, Kevin, the new leadership in Charlotte has made it clear that it’s not going in for quick fixes. The goal is sustained success, building with youth and development, all foster flexibility or a blank slate. But with some promising young players and more health, there’s nowhere to go but up. Kevin, health is huge. That’s the hope. Hey, David, thank you. Vincent’s checked in for Goodwin. Now here’s Plumbley. Covered by Hayes. Back to Green and he drops in the layup off the glass. Green’s got it all tied up now for the Hornets. And they’ve repeatedly probed inside in the first half, guys. And and it’s paid off. [Applause] And here in the second quarter of action as we approach four minutes played [Applause] against James and James throws it down. Oh, and he he went for the two-hander on the slam using some muscle, some urgency from him there. Sure. I get the feeling, guys, that he may be sensing that this is a critical time in this game. You know, Greg, one thing you notice, we were just talking about this with the Hornets in recent years, a lot of changing windings, and you expect that with the team with where they’re at. They’re looking for any advantage game to game and trying to build that identity as a franchise. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. That’s good from Ball. You know, we all know about the flare and sizzle to LaMelo Ball’s game. The highlight reel plays, all of that is great, but I also like the fact that he’s got great length at the point guard position, which presents a lot of problems at both ends. Eighton, he’s checked in for the Lakers. Anic comes in for Vincent. Ball hits them both. And here is Los Angeles now. Donic feeling it out. [Applause] Pass to James and then jammed down. It goes right over Colin Ston. And guys, I don’t know that this is the time for that kind of flare in a close game. The important thing is to get the two points, not necessarily the dramatic. Oh, come on. He had to go for that, didn’t he? My goodness. I can’t fault the guy for adding a little flavor to things. I’m fine. Even if he missed it, I don’t mind him taking a chance to spruce it up a little bit. Here’s Donic. [Applause] Pass to Lorravia [Music] [Applause] with it. He’s looking for James and finds it. Goes straight to the defender for the dunk. Draws the foul. He’ll go to the line. First personal is on Colin Ston and this is his first trip to the line tonight. Charlotte making some changes. Bridges comes in for Plumbley and Miller subbed in for Josh Green. Vanderbilt’s checked in for Los Angeles. [Applause] [Applause] and so Staxton will bring it out for the Hornets trailing by two. Here’s Ball. The basket good off the assist from Sexton. Ston’s got his third assist on the night. Lakers have gone six of eight from the field in the second quarter. James the pass to Eightton. Back to James [Music] from the ark. Interrupts. That’s his ninth field goal of the contest. a blistering hot nine for 11 gets the shot he wants. The defense wasn’t quite connected enough. They lost contact. Ball against Donic. Two free throws coming up and they call the shooting foul. And Ball really confident even amongst the big fells inside which is why he’s able to draw these fouls. Three trips to the line so far for him in this one. And looking back last season, how about 87% from the line, so that’s obviously nothing to sneeze at. Yeah, those were fine numbers he posted um at the line. It was hard to find fault with anything he did from the strike. First one falls for him. And they haven’t let points get away from them at the line tonight. That’s always something that’ll allow a coaching staff to breathe a little easier. call hits them both. Here’s Aon. Reeves outside. Pass to Donic. Latay Ston grabs the board. And he didn’t punish them for the weak coverage there, but they can’t count on him to continue missing. Here’s B with the three. It drops. That’s his ninth field goal of the contest. A blistering hot nine for 11. Guys back and forth this first half. And this could continue to go back and forth the entire way. Don with it now guarded by Ball for Charlotte. They’ve gone seven and nine in their field goal attempt in the second quarter. A pretty good offense. Greg Collins Ston still so young. He entered the league when he was just 19. Yeah. Drafted back in 2018. Ston has a few years left in his 20s. So you expect him to continue to expand his game and improve on both ends. He might not have the long range ability of some other guys, but he will knock down open ones like that. Here’s ball. and he has 28 points for the game. Pass to Diabate. Ston deciding where to go with it. The rebound by James for Los Angeles. They’ve gone eight of 12 since the start of the second quarter. That’s a really high percentage hitting around 67%. Donic against Ston. The pump fake kept the D off balance and gave him room and it’s a three-point Laker lead. Luca doesn’t shoot a ton from the mid-range, but he’s more than capable and effective when he does. Smart against Mill with a wideopen look and again the Hornets missing. Los Angeles leading by three. James the pass to Reeves. Donic with it. [Applause] Back to Reeves. [Applause] Five on the clock. James with a deep three. Hornets with the rebound. And he missed that one, but I’ve seen him drill shots from that distance in warm up. Well, that looked to me, guys, like a heat check and was maybe a step out of his range. Here’s B. The basket good off the assist from Ston. Ston’s got his fourth assist in this one. And here is Los Angeles now. James outside. Pass to Aton. [Music] [Applause] 133 left to play in the first half. Here’s Reeves. A three ball. No good. That’s miss number two against three makes from the field. [Music] [Applause] Miller against Smart. Bridges a screen on Donic. Ball no good. You can’t look at the result of that shot. They’ll take that whenever they get it. Well, you know, I hear you. That’s a good look, but when you’re that wide open, I think you got to knock it down. And no matter who it is, that kind of D isn’t going to get it done. Donic against Ball and the basket is good. Ball’s got 32 points in the game. Boy, Ball plays with so much confidence. You know, this guy believes in what he can do, including finding ways to score it inside. Here’s Donic. He has six [Applause] outside Jane and play stops whistle on what looks to be an illegal screen. And guys, point of emphasis for the league is to really crack down on illegal screens. Yeah, you know, he might have gotten away with that a few years ago, but not anymore. No way. Now you’ve got to be stationary on those screens. No extra hips or elbows or they’ll call it. Hatchim has checked in for Los Angeles. [Music] Ball against Donic. Ball no good. And so Donic will bring it up for Los Angeles. Reeves in the corner. 6 seconds separating the shot and game clocks. Here’s Hatchima. That three off the mark. Ston kicks to Ball fires for three. Nailed from three-point land. Balls got 35, guys. What a tight start to the game this has been. And it’s still in the first half. This could be a wild one. Lao Ball getting it done for the Charlotte Hornets. He’s approaching 40 points for him in the game. He’s scoring in just about every way possible. And the Lakers trail off it forward. It’s Miller and Bridges. Cowen Saxton is out there with ball and it’s Diabate in at the pivot spot manning the middle. So that’s the lineup for Charlotte. Here’s Donic. Bridges with the board. Charlotte has gone six of 11 when they’re taking the three-point shot tonight. Very respectable. Such an athletic guy. Bridges just hammers it down. [Applause] Lakers trail by three. Now Donic Reeves outside. Donic with a screen for Reeves. It’s rebounded by Charlotte to the paint and he stops it. What a pass to set him up. Well, I tell you, Bridges doing a nice job there and his teammates appreciate when he looks to get them involved. And for those of you turning in, we’re about a minute into the second half. Pass to Reeves with a screen on Miller. No one near Reeves as he lets it go. It’s good from long range. Reeves has got 10 points. And the lack of effort to fight over the screen there makes that an easy shot. Well, I’m going to credit the screen. I mean, that’s a good strong pick. He lays there. De from Paul. Rebounded by DeAndre. wide wide open and still surprisingly he wasn’t able to cash in. And that’ll be two free throws coming up. Officials on the call with the foul. First trip to the free throw line for him in this one. Shooting for the Lakers. Austin at the line for two. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. [Applause] And the first one drops. [Applause] [Applause] That one falls. So he hits both of them. Just over a minute and a half played here in the third. Bridges outside. Back to ball. Throws up the baseline and he knocks down the jumper. Balls got 37. Balls does a great job working hard to get himself good looks. His offensive energy is off the charts. Bachic finds Smart. Now Reeves covered by Miller. Eightton a screen on Miller down low. Oh, and the jam by Eaton. And look at Aiden get up there. Have to enjoy watching the big man getting tricky with it [Applause] for Charlotte. They’ve gone three or four so far in the third quarter from the field. Pretty good start to the half. Pass to Miller. lets it go with the three. It’s hauled in by Donic. Rare you’ll see him miss such an open look. And Clark, it’s hard to compare Luca Donuch to any other player we’ve seen before. I would certainly agree with that. Ditto to that, Kevin, because he is unique. His pace is never hurry. He never gets rattled. He complains to officials a little bit more than I’d like to see, but he’s strong. He’s got great touch and feel and he scores at all three levels and he’s a brilliant passer. [Music] Ball the pass to Bridges. Back to Balls from deep bangs home the trifecta. Ball’s got 40 points. Well, you got to love how quick Ball’s shot is. Doesn’t take a lot of time to get himself squared up. JJ Re calls timeout here. My coach has decided they need a moment to talk things over. [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] Right around 3 minutes into the second half. Pass to Hatchima. Now Aton Lakers passing it around. Bomb breeds. Diovanti grabs the board. Yes. And the foul. That one on Aton. And you got to love the big bucket in the paint in this sort of a grind it out game. First trip to the free throw line for him tonight. at the line for one. Musa Dia. And so it’s Smart. He’ll bring up the ball for Los Angeles. Hatimura setting the pick for Smart. Donic outside. Oh, Donic from way outside. Wow. I don’t know if anything’s out of Donic’s range. Donic against ball and here’s Miller outside that falls. Nice feed that time from Ball. Miller’s got 12. Come at us and we’re coming right back at you. A little back and forth from long range. I love it. That’s a terrific answer there. Pass to Reeds again. Los Angeles. Lucas peripheral vision off the charts. Get wide open and he’s going to find you. Charlotte in the lead. Outside Zon. Smart with the steel. [Applause] Reeves outside and another three for the Lakers. And not even three quarters out of the way. So many lead changes. The fans guys are getting their money’s worth. Heck, I should have paid to watch this one. It’s been a nail. And Hiller brings it down hard. Yeah. Powering through the foul there. Miller showing some serious intensity. And guys, what do you think about the offensive approach we’ve seen so far for Sharp? Well, you know, they’ve been tremendous, I think, when it comes to sharing the basketball. You know, getting guys involved on the plays and creating offensive opportunities for everybody. Equal opportunity offense is fun to watch and you also have to applaud how they’ve attacked the interior in this game. A lot of points happening for them in the paint tonight. Reeves the pass to Donic over Miller. Hornets with the rebound. The defense made an impact right there. Definitely got him uncomfortable going up with it. Back to ball. They set up the screen and it’s off from three-point range. Los Angeles has gotten going here in the second half from outside nailing three of four from the arc. He’s with it working on Plumbley. Rom briefs and another three for the Lakers. And this is the game plan for him. He’s a big part of their floor spacing. And you know what? It’s all about the long distance game for him tonight. He’s getting it done from out there. And here is ball. He has 40. And once again, off the mark by Charlotte. [Music] Donic against Ston. Back to Donic. And two free throws coming up. Unable to get that one to go with all the content is on Colin Ston. Really got his defender off balance that time. Did Dantage with that cunning pump fake. Now let’s take a moment to get your guys take on the scoring so far for Los Angeles. I mean they’ve been stepping it up in terms of their shooting from distance and the confidence has been there all game long leading the defense to scramble. And I love the way they’ve been attacking the basket. I mean, they look to penetrate every opportunity they’ve had and they’ve done a nice job doing that. And some changes here for the Lakers. Vanderbilt checked in for Hatchima and James subed in for Smart. [Applause] Both free throws good from Donic. Luca Donuch is a superstar in this league and he continues to build on what is going to be some kind of resume when it’s all said and done. Has every tool that you need to have to be an MVP one day and stolen by James. Last break, the Lakers the open shot. Reeves pass to Hayes. Tries a three. Miller grabs the miss. Miller’s got rebound number five here tonight to the paint. Here’s Diiamate. Nice D from Donic. Lakers leading by four. James finds Donic. And that’s a foul called on Colin Ston. That’s his third foul of the game. And the Lakers making a change here. Vincent’s checked in. And JJ Reick is called. Timeout. He’s made the decision. He wants to huddle up with this guy. The Rakers Rakers dance. [Applause] [Applause] Now here’s Hayes. He’s guarded by Plumbley. And here’s Reeves outside. And the rebound goes to the Hornets. Outside Zon back the ball. [Music] [Applause] Pass to Ston. Shot clock at six. Plumbley dishes the ball. Fires the three. The shot will not fall. Los Angeles leading by four to the middle. Here’s Vanderbilt. And the dunk by Vanderbilt. Yeah, I mean, maybe could have tried for a more memorable dunk than that one. And we know he’s capable of those memorable ones. Hey, they’ve got a nice comfortable lead here, fellas. Might as well keep it simple. Do it a plain simple one-hander just like Pound Gate. Back to Ball. The basket good off the assist from Sexton. Ston’s got six assists here tonight. Los Angeles has got more than a 50% success rate on their three-pointer since halftime. They’re four of seven. [Applause] Here’s Vincent. He’s covered by Ball. Here’s James. Puts the fade away right on the money. James has got the lead up to six now for the Lakers. Boy, he’s playing out of his head, nailing everything. The defense is scrambling to try to stop him right now. And so far, no goal. 13 foul. Substitution for your Hornets. Grant Williams, Nick Smith, Trey [Applause] gets picked off. Vincent the pass to Reeds over Smith and the Lakers tack on two more. An elite score demonstrating once again how fast he can fill it up. Vincent. [Applause] Hornets trail by eight. Smith scanning the floor and he converts the layup. Smith’s got his first points of the game. That was just a perfect possession getting in tight for the high percentage shot. And Hayes kicks to James. It’s stolen by Smith by himself and Smith with the stuff. Got to take care of the ball. They’ll punish you if you’re that careless. That’s right. And that’s severe punishment right there. Exactly. I mean, when you’re running neck to neck, those kinds of mistakes tip the scales. Hayes with the screen for Reeves. got a piece of it. And here we go with Miller running up the court. Pass to Williams. That’s good. It’s Miller with the assist. And now just a two-point Laker lead. And not just a score. Miller can dish it as well. Showing great vision on that play. Reeves the pass to Vincent. They set the pick back to Reeves over Miller. And again, no good by the Lakers. And so Miller will bring it up for Charlotte. On the wing, man gets the three-pointer to fall. Man’s got himself going with the triple. His first basket of the game. [Applause] 40 seconds left to play here in the third. [Applause] Hson with it. No scoring in this one. Vanderbilt a screen on Smith and here’s James outside drills the three-pointer and the Lakers lead by two and an I for an I. Both teams working to stretch the floor. Nothing like answering back. One team gets three, you fire three of your own. Boom. Two seconds separating the shot clock and game clock. Five to shoot. Miller with a wide open look. Tried to come right back with a three of his own, but it’s no good. Fires from way outside. Plays night in and night out. And with three quarters behind us, we start the fourth quarter. What is still anybody’s ball game. So for the Lakers right now, he is out there with Jared Vanderbilt. Then it’s James. Then it’s Vincent. And it’s Labraia in at the three, the small forward. And here’s the Lakers. [Applause] James outside and the call on the shot. It sends him to the line. First personal foul. First team foul shooting for Los Angeles. Free throw drops for James. Both free throws good from James. Charlotte trailing [Music] now. Here’s Ball. Pass to Green and that’s a foul called on Josh Green. Josh, that is his first foul of the game. Yeah, really good defensive play to cut him off there and square up. Excellent example of toughness and physicality on defense. Got his nose right in the middle of things and made a play. Here’s James. Shoots over man. And that one’s good. James. James has got nine points here in the second half. [Applause] Here’s man. James defending. Plumbley with a screen on James. Here’s man. An easy two points on the layup. Mans got four points this quarter and that’s right in his wheelhouse looking to make an impact when it counts. You know they want the ball in his hands here because they trust him to hit all the big shots. Vincent the pass to James shoots over man. James gets the bucket. Pick works well there. Not much resistance from the D. Yeah, that’s not the defense you need. You got to be tougher defensively. About a minute and a half into the fourth quarter now. Williams up on top. [Music] Pass to man. The kick out to Williams. Back to man. Just five on the clock. Here’s ball defended by Vincent. Good on that shot. And with that, the Los Angeles lead is cut down to just one on the bucket from Ball. Outside James. Vanderbilt setting the pick for James.
