Yeah, welcome in Wildly Informed postgame edition. Brad and Isa back here with you. Uh we’ll do things a little bit differently tonight. We’ll break down to start off here for uh tonight’s game between the Minnesota Wild Carolina Hurricanes. A pretty wild one, no pun intended. Um just there was a point in the game where there was I think uh six goals and like five saves. Like it was nuts. That first period was some just fun crazy edge of your seat type hockey like just like right after Baldi scored the second and then Carolina scored again. It was just like I literally rose from my seat and I was like you’ve got to be kidding me. Like what is this game? um freaking Jaylen Chhatfield almost being decapitated. Like it’s just it was wild. We we’ll get into all the post show thoughts here. We’ll get into your guys’ thoughts as well and then we’ll obviously dive into some other things on the show as well. Um thank you guys for being patient. I got to I got to take take one for the team. I was unable to last minute was unable to join the show yesterday, but it kind of worked out for tonight. Um anyways, and what a just crazy game to talk about. So Brett, like where do you want to start? Well, it’s just weird. I’m like, so I’ve I have a desk upstairs when I’m sitting out here with two monitors. So I’m like kind of playing a game watching the Wild and uh Morgan, my now fiance, uh made some spaghetti. So I went down to like make my bowl of spaghetti and it was like I think it was one nothing like the Wild. I just scored and like I went downstairs and I came back upstairs and it was two to two. I was downstairs for like five minutes, not even like literally putting together a bowl of spaghetti and all of a sudden it was like two to two. I’m like what did I miss? Like what happened? So, I was I was kind of like I had it on like I was paying probably a little bit more attention, but I was just like finishing up some work and like uploading some stuff and rendering some files and like I saw like the so I saw the first two goals from each team those were like registered but then the second two like I saw them but then at one point like I blinked I was like oh my god it’s 22 like already and then the floodgates just kept kept going and yeah cuz then you get the the pit kit which I didn’t like um hate hating on a former Maverick but I mean coming in full speed like Breckless was a hair late, shoulder to the head. Like, yeah, he kept his elbow down, but like it’s just there’s no reason in my mind, there’s no reason to make that hit, right? Like you’re you’re off to a pretty good start, I think, at that point. Were they up one- nothing at that point, I think, too. Um, and just I don’t know. I I felt like it was just kind of a a dumb hit. Um, yeah, there wasn’t even like any it wasn’t like they were like going at it earlier in the game. Kind of like a random Yeah. I don’t know. Yeah. So, and then that obviously his floodgates kind of open after that. Stall gets the two five and 10. Pit gets ejected and probably will get I would assume he’ll probably be suspended um as well for that hit. And then yeah, like you said, then the floodgates open, the Wild score four on four, the Canes fire right back, the Canes score again, and then it was Yeah, it was just and the Wild were kind of from that point on almost seemingly playing catch-up. uh got it to 3-3 and then immediately uh just a little bit of a you know Broaddian fumbles a puck at the blue line. Faber then blows a tire, gets a twoon one. It’s a back door tap in uh for Gusson’s fourth goal of the night. You know, he wasn’t sharp very early on but uh you know neither was Freddy Anderson and then both uh you know kind of locked it in there for the last kind of half of the game. Um we get a 4-3 loss in the end. In my mind, not a game that the Wild really deserved a win. Uh, I think through two periods they had 17 shot attempts and 11 of them ended up on goal. Um, I think they made a nice push late, but um, as we talked about on this show before, I always take those late push with a grain of salt because at that point if you’re a Carolina, you’re probably just trying to defend a little bit more, not make any mistakes, defend the lead. But, uh, yeah, I think, you know, there was some good. I thought, um, Ze Buham I thought had a really nice game tonight. Like noticeable for the right reasons. like really active in the defensive zone, taking some chances, had a couple shots on net. Um Marcus Johansson, who we’ll have a big section on tonight, extended his point streak now to seven games. Uh he has seven g seven game point streak. Only four times this season he’s been held off the score sheet. So that was nice to see. Uh I thought, you know, Matt Baldy obviously who I I had him on the dock talk about tonight as well. A little bit of a scoring drought, snaps that with two tonight. I thought him and Ek looked much much better. I’m excited to see what adding Johansson to that line, which is probably the likely outcome for tomorrow with Zukarella coming back. So, there was some good takeaways, but again, I just think there was it was a little bit of a too little too late scenario. Again, they started off great. The penalty kind of turned things around and it took them a long time to kind of find their game again. Yeah, I thought Capri off um did more good than bad as far as like turnovers and him just doing a little too much tonight as well. I thought he was pretty dialed in. um took advantage of all the open ice off like faceoffs and everything. Um I think he had I don’t know how many hits he ended the night with, but like going into the or in the third period anyway, start of the third period, like he had like three or four hits already and so I liked his game tonight as well. Yeah. Yeah. I think you know he obviously I don’t think he got credit on the bald goal. I think that one unassisted, but you know it’s his drive to the net initially. initially I think or no he car the puck down the wing I think gave it to Ek and I think Ek got his stick lifted but he helps create that goal so won’t show up on the score sheet there but um yeah I think he had he had a nice game tonight and you have to be happy with that you know I think he had a little bit of a rough patch there uh for a couple games and I think he’s really turned it on I think he might be on a is he on a six game point streak does that sound right it’s and it’s kind of like that classic like everyone knows like up yep Johansson scored again and you know Johansson did But it’s like, yeah, Capri Susman right there. I think Rossy’s on a fivegame point streak. I don’t think he I think like Rossy’s been kind of flying under the radar because of just, you know, this team keeps losing. So, it’s like we’re not going to praise guys when the team’s losing too much. I mean, unless you’re Joe Hansen who has the go, what was the stat again? um like points per dollars that Wes Walls had like the stat of all stats, which by the way, um tonight I was like, “Oh man, like this isn’t Wes on color. Like this guy’s really sharp and this this is great.” And I was like, “Man, is crushing it, dude. He’s phenomenal on color. He’s so good.” And he’s like still so new at it. Like dude, give him two years, bro. I was insanely impressed. Well, I think I heard two He’s actually does some with the Sharks, too. like he does some play or not play but Sharks color commentary because I think like um he like I think he traveled with the Sharks or something when they came to St. Paul and like called that game like for the Sharks and then like I think like the next game he did with the Wild. So yeah, it was kind of funny. Uh updates on the point streaks that we were talking about. Um Rossi had a fivegame point streak uh that got snapped in Nashville and then Capri off has points in five of the last six. He didn’t have a point in the Vancouver game, but that line’s been really good. They’ve been scoring a ton. So, um, like I personally would I don’t think, you know, you’re going to keep one of them together, but um, we’ll talk about lines later, but I I I I have a different opinion of what I think I would do versus what I think is going to happen. But, uh, we’ll save that for that part of the show. But, uh, I guess, uh, before we get into kind of the main outline, all of our topics for tonight, is there, uh, anything else from tonight’s game, uh, that you want to hit on here before we before we move on? No, I think I think we pretty much covered it. But like it just reminded me of and again I’m always going to throw back to like the other sport that I cover and watch as much as hockey. It just reminded me of like a crazy fight where like the first round is just epic. Guys are getting knocked down left, right, and center. They’re throwing each other on the ground. You’re just like there’s no way that they can keep up that pace for another 10 minutes and then the second and third round is literally just clinching up against the cage and you’re like was it worth it? Like was do I still call this a good fight? So like that that’s kind of thing. Obviously, the Wild didn’t get a win, but from like just outside the bubble of like rooting for either team, like it was it a good game. Does one period despite like with with all that craziness make it a good game? I don’t know. Uh I was entertained for a very good portion of the game. Um if if the Wild came out with the win, then then maybe spirits are a little bit high and we go, “Oh, what a crazy game that was.” Blah blah blah. or if they went to overtime and wanted her or you know an unlikely hero or Johansson wins it in overtime then maybe maybe it’s a whole other story and we’re looking at it through a different lens. But yeah, I don’t know. I uh I don’t know how to feel about this one. I’m kind of neutral. Wasn’t a good game. Wasn’t a bad game. Yeah, that’s kind of I think Wild are going to win this one anyways coming into it. They got my hopes up in the first and then it was just like oh yeah, this team I think I would have like a penalty kill. I guess I should say it was it which has been better. I think now they’ve killed off like I don’t know what what was it tonight? I can’t even keep track with all the four on fours and stuff, but the penalty kills looked slightly better as of late. I think they had like six or like four or five straight kills coming into tonight. So, that was better. But, um yeah, I think tomorrow will be interesting. You’re on the second night of a backto-back waltz that will be in net looking to bounce back after, you know, not his best effort against San Jose last time. Uh but, you know, the Islanders I think in a you know, has had a their start to the season has been pretty similar to the Wilds. They’ve had kind of some high event hockey. Uh but you know, still some talented players in that team. Bo Horvat, Matt Barzel. Uh we get to watch Matthew Schaefer, which I’m pretty excited to see tomorrow. We’ve talked a little bit about him on this show so far. So I mean if if Barcel doesn’t get benched. Yeah, like Jordan Kyu. Uh I just I mean Kyu is one thing, but I just I don’t know about benching, you know, within within reason, but I don’t know about if benching superstars makes the maybe sends the right message. I feel like skate him hard in practice or maybe tell like some of the guys like hey like you know play him a little harder than you than you usually like rough him up a little bit but like you want him to win games. Yo Idaho skatesman who doesn’t watch any hockey even though he has one of the apparently best ECHL teams in Boise. Shout out to the Idaho skatesman. Thank you so much for the $2, man. He’s one of our friends from uh the City Life community. Appreciate check it in for the donation. Awesome, dude. Everybody Brett who’s played for Boise says it’s one of the best and most underrated ECL like hockey towns like because there’s nothing really else there but I think like there’s some college football. Yeah. That is their team, man. And they like that is their NHL team and that that vibe apparently. That’s always the cool thing when you get those teams in those smaller markets for sure. They they take it seriously. I think Kopka played there. Some some enforcer like played a while in the NHL. I’m pretty sure Kobka played there and said like, “Oh, it was one of my favorite like as far as like the miners. It was one of my favorite spots to land.” Yeah, for sure. All right, let’s get into our hockey headlines. Uh, pretty cool one to start things off here. Uh, your guy Obie becomes the first player in NHL history to hit the 900 goal mark. Kind of a sick goal, too. It’s kind of like a no look spinning backhand uh past Jordan Bennington, which is always great to see that guy uh get scored on. Um, and then he proceeded to try to steal the puck and then walked it back like, “Oh, it’s just a joke.” And pretty much everyone is unanimously like he’s just Bington is the villain in the National Hockey League right now. But he’s like he’s like Yeah, he’s he’s like the villain but the corny one where it’s like no one’s like scared of you. No, like you’re not intimidating anyone. You’re just a dick. Well, like I I saw a really good um like comparison. People are like if Mark Andre Flurry had done that, people would have laughed along. Like because it’s Mark Andre Flurry has a history of being funny and like well but like because it was Bennington like yeah you have a history of getting angry and having stupid antics and like no you’re just trying to walk this back so the whole world like not that most people didn’t already hate you but now you probably have even a larger like people that hate you. So yeah and it’s like it’s not like Obie’s probably drinking any more beer than he is already this season but like I love how just like Carlson right away douses him in like that beautiful dressing room. Uh Ted Leon is I Ted Leonza and again this is from an outside point of view. Um he just seems like one of the cooler owners now if you’re winning that much and just like reaping in the benefits of like Ovetchkin for this many years like of course you’re going to have a smile on your face and you’re always making the right decisions. But uh he just seems like I don’t know just dapped him up so hard there and was just like chilling with the boys and we didn’t even really have a speech. He was like let’s go okay let’s keep going. I scored goals. Yeah. Next milestone’s a thousand. Uh but yeah, so so pretty cool like to witness in our lifetime the best goal scorer that will probably ever exist uh in the NHL. Pretty cool. Yeah. Like I don’t know who’s putting up 900. Like is seriously like is Matthews doing it? I don’t Is he going to play that long? That’s the thing. Like that’s the thing. And at and at that high of a level. I think that’s that’s always the hard part like being able to stay healthy and even like still maintain an elite level. Uh I I haven’t seen the update on it. Um I could probably go look it up, but there was uh JFresh Hockey, who does really good analytic stuff on Twitter, uh had had pointed out, I think this was like at some point last week, that Ovetchkin still had not um taken a face off in the defensive zone through like nine games. I was like, that is absolutely legendary. They’re like, defensive zone, face off, Obie, just you’re fine. You can just stay here. We’ll get you. It’s funny cuz there was some like and again Facebook is Facebook but like I’d see every now and then I must be in like a couple Capitals groups from like a while ago but there was one there’s a few conversations like do we like cut Oby’s minutes or take him off like the first or first line or whatever like you know he’s not really helping the team blah blah blah and then like this happens everyone’s like oh [ __ ] it we love Obie [ __ ] I was trying to find the Carlson like beer clip it is just wiped from Twitter Twitter just has the worst search engine in history now so sorry chat Uh let’s see other news here. The wild loss Sully four four to three. I did Vitali Katzoff who was the ninth overall pick in 2018 has had stints in the NHL was put on unconditional waiverss by the Canucks um and is headed back to the KHL. I think he had like four points in 10 games with Abbottzford in the AHL. But yeah, Rick Rick Dollywal of Donnie and Dolly, shout out to the Czech news. Um that was the show I listened to all the time when I was back home. uh he tweeted out just simply like wasn’t getting NHL like didn’t make the NHL team and missed home. So like he was he was willing to play North America to try to get another chance in the NHL. He was like I don’t want to play in Abbottzford. Absurd’s nice, don’t get me wrong, but it ain’t Vancouver. It’s like 40 minutes farmland north. So yeah, it’s like Brainard. Having driven through it and visited. Yeah. Like Oh yeah. You’ve been to Abbottzford? Yeah. Yeah, I have. I have been Abs. Yep. It’s like kind of close to some cool [ __ ] but not quite. Yeah, I would say it’s a pretty fair comparison. U but yeah, just like one of those guys that like was a pretty highly touted prospect for like a long time, first rounder. Never quite figured it out, but like he was really good in the KHL. I think he plays for Tractor. I think he was like a point per game in the KHL with them last year. So, you know, like you said, missing home. So, I wish him the best. But a little bit notable there. Uh let’s see. Injuries. We’ll get to those. Yeah, we can do those next. Uh, Pier Luke Dubois for the Washington Capitals out and definitely with a lower body injury. Surprise, surprise. Like what a obviously not a bust, but like far from what he was projected and I think like where his ceiling could have been. Yeah. Yeah, for sure. And just like the ups and downs of the career like kind of was rejuvenated it seemed like last year, but uh yeah, we’ll see. He’s had those throughout his career already. Like he’s had some rejuvenations and then it’s just like I don’t know. There comes a point where it’s like is it the way he plays that makes him injury prone now because he doesn’t play his game that got him here because can’t or is hard to play within certain coaches systems? I don’t know. I don’t know. It just seems like wherever Pierre Luke Dubois goes, he’s either injured or it’s not working with the team or coach. And at some point you gota look at the player, right? Can’t just just blame the league. Yeah. Right. Exactly. Uh, another injury. This one’s a little bit scary. Uh, this happened just under a week ago now. Chris Chris Tanv injured reserve after a collision with Matt V. Mitchkov, which like and it was it wasn’t like an intentional play by Mitchkov. like they were both kind of like looking like the play was they were like at the far blue and the play was kind of coming toward him and they were both kind of skating in that direction and just collided and it like I Tana must have got clipped just right. Um, and he I think he was coming back from a concussion that game like had just been cleared and then then he concussed. Ended up going to the hospital, stayed overnight, was released, turned to Toronto, but um seems to have another concussion. So, wishing him all the best. Like super scary situation anytime you see a guy get stretchered off. Yeah. And it’s like, man, I for so many like for so many years in Vancouver, Chris Tanv took so much damage. He led the league for like block shots for like a few years running. His brother’s now taking it over. Um, dude, he would block so many shots that he actually uh it’s a little sidetracked, but kind of relevant in that there was a Oh, it was almost like a uh like a synthetic tape guard for skates that the NHL approved like shop blockers or anybody to put on like their elbow pads, whatever. those um they absorbed like 80% of like the impact and like the tanvs were the test dummies for it cuz they’re like it was a Winnipeg company and like it actually helped like improved him cuz he’s like broke his ankle like a few times and like anyways he just took so much damage in Vancouver played such a hard game that I honestly thought like when he like went to Calgary that like he wasn’t going to be able to continue to play and luckily he was still able to play like a few more years and like is still I mean last year had a really good season as well but like man now his body’s just deteriorating and like seeing an injury this bad, it’s like the recovery is going to be twice as hard for this guy given like how much damage he’s taken throughout his career. I was I I love Cristan and I still do. I think he’s like just a true defensive defenseman. Yeah. No, definitely. Like I was going to kind of give him the Jonas Protein comp for the teams he’s played for. Like yeah, never going to be the guy that flashes a ton on the score sheet, but just constantly in the right places at the right time. like can support offensive partners. So yeah, bummed to see him out. Uh wishing him all the best and you know concussions always scary in in any any and every sport. So hopefully something he can rest up from and and get back to playing here soon. Uh couple extensions. The first Jacob Marstrom extends in New Jersey 2 by6 million. Uh not a bad extension at all there. like that that we’ve talked uh with Augustus extension just like the going price of goalenders to to get him locked in at that number. Uh nice nice piece work there for the Devils. I think they have uh Jake Allen locked in for a couple years too. So it’s a good tandem like he’s going to be good for a few more years like well the Wild got beat by their third string and I thought he looked pretty good in that game to his his name. Archam does is injury prone and I feel like every tall goalie which is every goalie these days is but like you know he’s when he’s on he’s he’s [ __ ] on. Yeah, no kidding. Um the big extension I think I don’t think we talked about this one last week because I think it happened the day after we recorded. Um, Martin Nus in Colorado, 8 years, 11 a.5 million like which when you look at it is pretty funny because at that point they could have probably just signed Rants in it but uh the cap thing and everything and not not paying him more than McKinnon apparently was an issue and yeah I mean eventually they you know they got a good player that fit the system and like I would love to have Martin Hus on my team. Um, but I just the whole saga like that being what it comes down to in the end I just think was a little funny given that the whole reason they traded Ranton in the first place is because they didn’t want to pay him pretty much that exact contract. Yeah. Well, and Naked like he he might still be better than we like he’s 26 so like he’s still like he could pop in the next year or two and have like cuz what he’s put up like 70 I don’t I don’t think he’s hit 80 points yet but I think he’s hit like 70. Um I know he’s kind of like in the 50 to 70 range usually. watch him hit like 80 for a couple seasons or you know if if his floor is a 50 point season dude then in this playing with playing with McKinnon you’re gonna you’re gonna put up points too. So yeah. Yeah. But I mean even in Carolina he like let me look up. Yeah. 71 in Carolina in 2023. So Yep. Yeah. I I loved watching him especially in junior um when he’d play like international I think. Yeah. He was on that check team and I went to World Juniors. I think it was 2017 18 when they were in Vancouver and Canada absolutely whooped the checks because in the second period they all took just insane penalties. So like kneecatch was like all the good guys eventually were gone but like the first period was a lot of fun and he was just dangling out there. Yeah. 83 points in 79 games last year split between Colorado. So yeah she So yeah, good signing for them. sucks that the Wilds have to go up against that uh for the foreseeable future, but uh is what it is. And then uh the last little tidbit here of uh the uh hockey headlines, uh Team USA, the women’s national team, uh played team Canada in game one of the rivalry series over in Cleveland and the US took it to I believe a 4 to1 victory. uh m Minnesota’s own and the Minnesota Frost’s own Taylor Heisy, four points in that game, a goal and three assists, and then also the pride of the University of Minnesota, Abby Murphy, uh who’s going to be an absolute stud, had a hat-tick in that game as well. So, pretty dominant performance uh by the US in the rivalry series, which bodess well for team USA heading into the Olympics because it’s pretty much just USA and Canada for the women’s uh most years. So, yeah, a f I mean, don’t ever count the fins. They’re someone can always sneak in. Yeah. I mean, I talked about this before. One of the biggest freaking robberies I’ve ever seen in IHF history was when the Fins the Fins beat the Americans and the women’s in overtime. And I was doing radio at the time, so we were watching it live. The Fins beat the Americans um in overtime and like good goal. Like it was close, but the refs quickly like reviewed it and it was good gold and like all the gear comes off. The confetti comes down. Dude, 15 minutes later, the IHF No, actually wasn’t a goal. So, they put on all the gear, clean the ice. It’s like almost an hour and then like the states score within like I think it was like five five minutes and it was just like man that was probably the most defeating thing ever. Reminds me a little bit of um the CCHA championship uh Mano. I think this was in like 2022 maybe. I think it was the first year after COVID and they were playing I think it was against was it Michigan Tech or somebody? I don’t remember who they were playing. No, Biji State and like the Mavericks won the game in overtime. same thing like celebrated they awarded the Mcnotton Cup like players were in like the locker room like getting undressed doing interviews and like Don Luchia and like the CCHA officer like uh yeah that puck did not go in legally like that the neck got like lifted up and then it went like underneath the net and the net like Johansson’s goal like Johansson’s goal no it didn’t get knocked off it just got pushed up like from the back so the puck just like slid under the net and then the net came right back down but It happened so quick. I think the goalie’s pad like hit the post and just popped it up for like half a second and yeah, so they like had to call everybody back like this is like I think an hour and a half later. Like my dad my dad text me like right away like that puck did not go in and then so they call the players back, replay it and and then thankfully for the Mavericks like I think five minutes and they scored again to like seal it anyway. But yeah, there was a a really good article that uh I cannot remember who wrote it. Um, if you scroll far enough back in my timeline, you might be able to find it. But just like recapping that game and it was it was really interesting. Yeah. Quickly quickly on the PWHL, uh, did you see that Vancouver’s team is uh, license to kill? Yeah, the Golden Eyes. The Golden Eyes. Yeah, I thought pretty I think it’s good. I think it’s good. It’s something different. Um, I thought logo. Yeah, cool logo. Love the colors. I I’m glad that they just they didn’t lean too hard into like West Coast like I like the starfish or you know like I’m glad they it wasn’t too like corny and yeah golden eyes are pretty badass and like there’s so many freaking 007 like memes coming out so Oh yeah as as a and then the uh Seattle team the torrent the torrent with one of the worst professional sports logos I think oh dude yeah what a what a miss so already Vancouver up on the the Seattle team which are now my arch enemies Well, I I think it was Sean Gentily of The Athletic. I just saw a blurb. I didn’t read the article, but they just had like a a reaction article to it. I think you described it looked like a logo you’d see in a pack of gum, and I was like, that’s very accurate. Yeah. So, all right. What else we got? All right. Uh let’s move into the analytics agenda next here. Uh the first thing that I wanted to get to before we get to Johansson there, uh last week we talked about Jared Spurgeon. Um, and just that he’d had a little bit of a rough start. I had said there was some like really unsustainable numbers in terms of his goals against based on what the on ice numbers were. Um, and this was prior to tonight, so I don’t know how these numbers these might these numbers probably look slightly different now. Um, but there was three games between when I sent out that tweet and talked about this last week. Um, where Spurgeon was just getting scored on a ton, wasn’t scoring a lot. That like completely flipped on its head. Uh, he went from a 2.77 expected goals four per 60 on ice to 3.6 to 6’2. The expected goals against 2.9, which was like really uncharacteristic for him, dropped back down to 1.84, which is much more in line with kind of that elite shutdown ability that we’ve seen. Uh the expected goal share jump from 48.8 to 66.4%. So huge jump there. Uh where I said the aggression would come would be the on ice goals for that was at 64 per 60 over the last three games, not including tonight. That jumped all the way up to 2.81. Uh finding a lot more luck there. And then same thing with the goals against uh he was 4.15 against per 60 which would be like an all-time high rate um in NHL history or at least in the last couple years. Um had not prior to tonight given up a single goal at five on five in the last three games. Of course he share jumps up as well from 48 to 55. So those numbers in the same way the other ones weren’t sustainable. These probably aren’t as sustainable either. But I think we’ll start to see these kind of like level out into the middle. And you know I’m a little bit less worried on Spurgeon now than I was. Um, and I think a little bit of a hiccup tonight, but I think him and Middleton being back together seemed to add some stability back into that pair. So, I wanted to follow up on that because it was a little bit of a negative talking point last week, but nice to see him kind of bounce back in a good way. Yeah, Mike mentioned that earlier as well. He’s like Spurgeon looked like Spurgeon at points tonight. So, for sure. Let’s talk about Marcus Johansson. Man of the hour, by the way. Freaking seven game now. Let’s go. Yeah. So, yeah, these could be updated now probably again. Uh the on ice numbers weren’t quite as good. Uh but did extend that point streak now to seven. So made this graphic before tonight’s game. So prior to tonight, uh just want to look at just what he’s done over these last six games. Like he has been dominant. Five goals uh which is tied that was tied for first in the NHL uh since October 25th. Uh first on the team uh there as well. Eight points adding three assists. Uh that was 14th highest in the NHL in that same span. uh getting to the net, 1.86 individual expected goals. The wild like controlling play with 62.6% of the offense with him out there. Um which was really good. You know, the courses share the high danger share, everything was just fantastic and just what he was doing. And like he’s noticeable in the right ways, too. Like you see the speed and a lot of people are like, well, he’s got kind of these Mickey Mouse goals of, you know, pucks going off his shin pads. And then you know the one the overtime winner against Nashville kind of a bizarre one there but like my my clap back at that is hey when you’re playing with Krill Capri off and Marco Rossi go to the net and put your stick on the ice like thing good things happen when you go to the net and so like I think you know it’s I never thought I’d be complimenting him this much but now up to 13 points to start the season like through is it 13 games? No 15 games or something. only four games this year without a point like and I have kind of a a running bit on Twitter just naming off some of the players that he has more points than this year like as a reminder for some of those Jake Gensel, Sebastian AO, Austin Matthews, Nazum Cadry, Nikita Cucherov, Thomas Hurdle, Philip Forsber, Jason Robertson, Alexander Ovetchkin, Claude, like Kevin Fiala, Matt Barzel, like Tae Thompson, Elias better like and he’s not making $3 million, he’s making $800. 100,000. Never forget it, ladies and gentlemen. Never forget it. And I don’t I don’t think what he’s doing is going to be sustainable, but it’s been really nice to see kind of this similar Marcus Johansson, you know, that we saw when the Wild kind of acquired him. I think it was the second time and him bowling went on that little bit of a heater. Um, and when he was younger in Washington, he was guaranteed to put up 40 points every year. Like it was just that was the Marcus Johansson way. So, like obviously there’s going to be some regression, but like he’s probably going to end the year with 40, if we’re lucky, 50 points. Yeah, I think you know it could be his best season we’ve seen him in a Wild uniform. And it might be how how crazy would it be if this is his best season. And of course, like Wild like, okay, I’m just going to say like I hope they make the playoffs, knock on what they do, but like watch Johansson have the best season of his career. It’s the Wild don’t make the playoffs. Yeah, it would be brand honestly like it’s a possibility I don’t want to see, chat. Yeah. Well, and like I think just for me, like the reason I like to talk about this stuff is I’m hard on Marcus Johansson when he’s just kind of average and meh. But like I think you got to call out when you see the good too. And he’s like I don’t there’s not much I can point to in his game right now that like I’m like I’m a little underwhelmed by this. Like you look at that overtime winner in Nashville. Take away the bizarre finish of it. But that whole play starts because he back checkcks full speed back in the defensive zone, picks the pocket. that I think of is Ericala like just lifts his stick and then headmans the puck to Capri off but then just bust his ass like he’s a gazillion miles an hour the other direction to the back post the puck comes there you have the whole neck gets knocked off he puts the puck in and the whole debate there you can have that for another day but like that all happens because he not only hustles back defensively to make a play then hustles back offensively and that’s just kind of been a trend with him you know he’s been on the second power play this year but we’ve seen some success out of that power play he’s been a part of that so yeah like it’s just been really nice to see and you know at a time when you know not a lot’s happened offensively for this team to get a guy like that to step up uh has been huge and has helped them win a couple games here bro he’s Sweden’s muggilly puts up 50 goals in a contract here and then just I can put up 35 40 cuz I’m I’m rich [ __ ] this topic not as relevant now my next one here uh final little bit of our analytics agenda um was on eken Baldi uh This actually um I think uh producer Matteo had brought this up to me um in a DM just wondering you know uh are they getting like the difficult matchups and those who watched uh the pregame tonight they did talk a little bit about uh this on the on the Wild pregame tonight but like they have been like the Wild’s matchup line through the past um six games here sticking with that Johansson sample like you look at just their ice time and who the top players they’ve been out against each night. So these are rough estimates based on kind of the the data that I could have access to but they played about 60% of the game against Nashville against Forsber O’Reilly and Evangelista against Vancouver 35 to 40% of their five on five ice time was against Besser Evander Kane Elias Patterson against Pittsburgh 62% against Crosby Rust and Hollander in Winnipeg it was the Connor Shy Valardi line uh in San for about 60% of the game about half the game against San Jose against Cabbrini Smith into Foley and then in Utah about 46% against Nate Schmidt, Clayton Keller, and Nick Schmaltz. Um, so like a lot of really high-end players that they’ve played roughly 60 55 60% of their five minutes across the last six games have only allowed two goals against in that span. Scored just once to boot. So outsc scored two to one in those minutes. But, you know, you look at, you know, the point streaks that Capri off, Johansson, Rossi are on. I think a lot of that can be attributed to them being able to match this lineup against the top competition, free up Capri off and Rossi and Johansson to take on maybe that line two, that line three, get some better matchups for them to get some goals in. So, um I think it’s like a 42% expected goal share in that time. So, you know, not fully sustainable maybe, but um I thought I think we talked right at the at the start of the show, we thought that line looked looked better tonight. Um and it’s likely that Marcus Johansson’s going to slide in with that line uh beginning tomorrow night with uh Matt Zigerella’s potential return. More on that here in just a second. But um so I guess like my point like I said kind of moot now because Baldi scored twice tonight but like do you have any concerns about just kind of the role they were playing the the lack of offense that we were seeing uh from Echar Baldi? Uh Ek more than Baldi? Um like I I think this is far from like the streaky Baldi we saw early in his career. like this is like he’s still he’s still probably the be I mean yeah I’ll say like he’s been the best player for this team like more often than not this season even if Caprio’s putting up two points like like we talked about last week like he’s hurting the team sometimes and he’s like making up for it but and they’re still losing so is he really making up for it? Um something again I said at the top of the show that he definitely writed that wrong tonight and looked back to more so his own self. So, I was not concerned about Baldi, but like yeah, man. Like EC um like to see a little bit more. He seems to still put himself in the right places, but like I I I don’t want to say it’s not puck I don’t want to say it’s blame on like there’s no puck luck there because I don’t know. does it seem like he’s just not as aggressive when he like parks himself in front of the net and there’s just no opportunities when he is there and then when he has to be like forced to battle in the corner, you know, there’s no one to kind of take that center slot or take that spot. It just I don’t know like some of it I feel like it’s just cuz like the Wild are playing bad and maybe he’s doing a little bit too much to then part of it just like okay well like it has to write itself eventually know or or is it a cons is it a concern on the player? Yeah. Yeah. And I think like a lot of it for me has been ex specifically at five on five. I think to all your points like usually you see him like rebound sentry or tip sentry in front of the net or like you know getting punched in the face or like starting scrums like battling like and it just seems like there’s a couple of course cuz like it’s a hockey game. It’s a long game. There’s going to be moments there but like I don’t know. It just seems like he’s more forced to be battling on the boards and and again it could be attributed to just like Wild aren’t getting that many shots or good opportunities. So like that’s why we’re just not seeing him in that position. But at the same time, he’s not I guess what I’m getting at is he’s not doing anything else to Okay, I can’t do that right now cuz we’re not we’re not having success. Whereas like Boldie finds other ways to be productive in games whereas like I just I I’m not seeing it as much from Ek. I will say where he’s been great has been net net front specifically on the power play. Like I think every power play goal that that unit scored recently, you go back to the one of the I think the first one in Nashville, Capri off like snipes it like top corner from the high slot, but it’s cuz EK is standing right in front of the goalie. Like goalie can’t see it. The one uh Baldi scored tonight. Like first off, incredible pass from Terasenko. I thought for sure he was going to shoot that thing and then I was like, “Oh my god, he did like a little like cuz he was looking at the net and kind of this no look past a bully.” And same thing, Eric Neck was parked right in front of Freddy Anderson, so he couldn’t really see that pass come through and bully as a basically a free tap in. So like I think he’s been great in that spot, but like to your point, I think we’re missing seeing some of that same stuff at five on five. And it could be largely in part to these guys being in a shutdown role, having to spend more of their time in the defensive zone, um, where obviously we talked about only two goals against, so maybe just some of those smaller things, which is just not as noticeable on the other side of the puck. But again, they looked better tonight. they had some more of those chances. So, uh hoping that this is kind of the start of that line, maybe finding that offense a little bit once again. Yeah. Hey, always love to see Dallas uh not doing well. Yeah. Oh, the Ducks are off to I think a pretty crazy start, aren’t they? Aren’t they leading the Pacific? Yeah, dude. They’re they’re playing well. Yeah, they’re 93 and one. Yeah. Hey, I mean it’s about freaking time that that rebuild is showing some, you know, living in Canada when we’re like, “All right, any year now.” Yeah. Leo Carlson, I think, has been phenomenal for them. McDavish, uh, Jackson Lome, former Gopher, uh, leading the way on that blue line as well. I think Lucas Doall, is that their goal? I think he’s having a really good start as well. So yeah, like I, you know, I still the inner Wild fan in me still holds a little bit of resentment toward Anaheim, but it’s mostly just against John Sebastian Jagger for his large illegal pads knocking ending the Wild’s one chance at a cup run. Um, but other than that, like I’ve, you know, it’s you always like when those teams that are bad for a while when you start to kind of see them come back. You know, I think you’re seeing that with San Jose soon. Montreal like Montreal, Utah. on the Arizona like I feel it just sucks for the Arizona fan base. Someone just like drafted all these guys and now we’re just we don’t Yeah. And still more coming too. So they’re going to be a threat. But um yeah, so I think you know analytic segment a little bit more positive today talking about Johansson’s improvements, Spurgeon bouncing back. Uh Echaboly kind of playing a shutdown role. You know, kind of weird out of your second line, but um still lost and Hines’s seat is still hot. Yeah, for sure. for sure. All right, last segment here. Let’s get it. So, alluded to this a couple times tonight. My first one. Not so much like an opinion, but just more like curiosity driven. So, rumors that Matt Zukerella will return to the lineup tonight or sorry, tomorrow night um against the Islanders, which great to have him back, that veteran presence, that voice in the locker room um you know, the Yin to Kur Capri offs Yang being back in the lineup as well. So, I think it goes Uncle Zukarello. Yeah. Yeah. Uh, I think it goes without saying that those two will be reunited, but I think where it gets interesting is how do you kind of, you know, divide out the rest of these lines because I think coming into the year it was probably like, yep, it’ll be Terasenko as kind of that, you know, that fourth winger up there with Capri off, Baldi, um, and Zukarelloo. But, you know, I think Marcus Johansson has absolutely deserved to stay in that spot. I don’t know how you could bump him down to the to the third line when he’s on a sevename point streak. Like I don’t think you can. But like to me, and I alluded to this earlier, I think what I would do, I’ll give my thoughts and you can say if you do anything differently. Um I think I would actually slide EC up to be with uh Capri off and Zukarella, like give them a little bit more defensive responsibility. Um you know, get a player that can help on the for check, free up some pucks. Um and then um on the second line that’s where you have Johansson and Rossi who I think have had just some notable chemistry. Yeah. Um then adding Bley there to get you know before to get him going. And then I feel like now you have more of two scoring lines where I think you know just moving Johansson to that you know ek and bully liners. You know are they is that still going to be you know are they going to lean on that line as a you know as as a shutdown line at that point? Like do you get some more offense out of them? Um so I would put it up that way. third line. Um, like this is where I think I I really deviate from what the Wild end up doing. Um, I would do Terasenko Hartman and I actually think I’d keep Henstrosza in that spot like give you a little more of like that tertiary scoring line. I think it’ll probably end up being Felo staying there and then, you know, in my world that would make Trenion and Felo your fourth liners and then your choice of your off and Ben Jones as that center probably Jones. Uh, but likely Feno and Hinestrosa swap there. U, but I’m with you 100%. I’ve been saying that like and I know the points aren’t a reflection of it, but like I think Hinestro has been it’s hard to say one of their best players, but I feel like he hasn’t been making mistakes and he’s earned he’s earned a Shaw with a line that he can actually contribute on because like yeah, he can play shutdown because he can bring the puck into the offensive zone like freaking speed racer. He’s so fast, man. It’s insane. and it’s like doesn’t really do much when he’s in the other zone or when he’s in the the opponent’s zone, but like he can shoot and he can get involved in plays and like he’s he’s not a bad player. Um I don’t mind him on the third line at all, especially cuz like he’s just he’s doing more offensively than Feno right now. Like FO like I don’t know if he’s hurt. I don’t know what’s going on. He’s playing okay defensively, but like there’s nothing like you you tell me like is Felo even like like he’s not even shooting. like there’s there’s nothing whereas HR is at least bringing the puck to the net or at least bringing the puck dumping it in and and even like fighting for it in the corner setting up you know an opportunity whereas like Feno is just like he’s playing some effective defense but I I think he’s hurt man that or this is just a bad start to like the decline that we see these type of players and I think we’re what 14 games in now and I still don’t think he has a point on the season and and like honestly I’m sorry like at this point in his career. That’s like that’s pretty inexcusable. Yeah. But like I think I said this to you uh maybe I don’t remember if it was on here or if I was maybe I was just in our DMs, but like there was a time I I think he’s been more noticeable for that physical play the last couple games, but there was a time where like I’m trying to think of like that big crushing Felino hit and the only one I could think of was when he got laid out by uh I think it was Braden Schneider when they played the Rangers. like that was the only time I could remember like a big physical play from Felino and he was on the receiving end of it. Um and you know you did see him get to the fight the other night, you know, to help spark the team. Um I thought he had a nice, you know, some physical plays tonight and has been a little bit better the last couple. Um I think he actually had a pretty good game against Nashville. But yeah, I think to your point like I think you put him in Trenion and then you know when Nico Sturm is healthy if you get you know there’s your new shutdown line, right? Like, oh yeah, get like, “Hey, Marcus, like you haven’t scored. Don’t worry about it.” Like, just go play defense. Use Sturman and Trenion, just just go hit people. Like, just a minute and 30 seconds, just go hit people. Like, yeah, give our give our top nine a break. I don’t think they’ll ever do that. But, you know, I think at some point, you know, if he’s not producing, you have to at least consider it because, you know, if you’re going to have that conversation, it’s like, well, I don’t think I deserve that. Well, your defensive numbers are declining and you have zero points. Like, where do you think you should be playing? So, um, yeah, I still think the leadership that he brings is important and like he’s had flashes still, but yeah, I think you definitely would like to see a little bit more out of him and, you know, maybe you can kind of jack him up maybe if you stick him down on the fourth line for a little bit, but uh, we’ll see. Yeah, Jordan said it. Vinnie’s just he’s just trying harder, it seems like. So, it’s like, okay, you got to you have to reward that. Oh, reward it from going to your fourth and third line. And it’s like if you can get the puck in the offensive zone and that way Terenko doesn’t have to do it and he can get set up, you know, and you have another capable, you know, solid offensive player in Hartman who can set it up like and the chemistry between, you know, two guys have been playing together their whole life between Hartman and Henros. So yeah, he goes, “Yes, I do agree. Father time is losing to Sydney Crosby.” Yeah. So, I had this on there before we found out that David Gerchek was going to be scratched tonight, but I posed a question of wondering if he maybe needs some time in Iowa. Um, healthy scratch for Damon Hunt tonight, too. I thought Hunt actually looked like pretty solid game. Like, I love Damon Hunt. I’m just so happy he’s back on because you and I last year, uh, we’re going into last year, we’re like we’re so stoked. We’re like, “All right, Hunt’s going to be like an NHL player, blah blah blah.” And then it’s like no. And like what I like about him is he’s kind of your prototypical to me like your ideal bottom pair guy. Like might chip in 8 to 10 points a year, but like just plays the right way. Like makes a simple plays, is in the right spots, like isn’t elite, but like is just the very average, but just smart defenseman. I thought that was kind of the plays he made tonight. Just good little chip plays, smart pinches, good positioning. Um so like I think he’ll probably stay in there. Um, getting back to Jereek though, like just his numbers are just very weird. So, you look at kind of the underlying analytics, he’s fourth best on the team in his on ice 5v5 expected goals for 60 minutes at five on five at 3.27. Um, but you have the flip side of that coin. His 3.67 expected goals against, you could argue was worst on the team or second worst on the team. Ben Jones has 4.05, 05 but fewer games played so that number can get skewed a little bit more but like you have you know a guy with bringing a ton of offense but also being a pretty big liability defensively on the other end. Um the interesting thing for me a little bit has been his deployment. So you look at he’s only getting offensive zone starts 33% of the time. Uh averaging about 3 so about three and a half somewhere between three and four uh offensive zone starts per game. He’s getting about seven defensive zone starts per game. And I think like you look at, you know, where does he excel as offensively? Like I would try to flip that if you’re going to keep him up here. Like get him out there for some more offensive zone faceoffs. Like I think Zeve Buum has had about half of his shifts that started in the offensive zone. I don’t think confidence too. Yeah. And like I don’t think they should stop doing that. Um like Zeve especially the way he played tonight. But like I think you know can you use your check in a similar way? Get him out there for some more offensive zone starts. Um he also I believe leads the team in on the fly starts uh both forwards and diesel a lot of times coming over the boards in the middle of a play. So you know that’s hard to fix but like it’s a tough spot if you’re the wild coaches because like how do you balance like hey this guy like helps a team that struggles to generate offense like he knows how to get involved in the play and help us create scoring chances but how do we balance that with these liabilities these mistakes and turnovers that are often happening in the defensive zone. So, I think you know a healthy scratch just maybe for him to reset a little bit, spend some time with the coaches, maybe watching some film, learning a little bit, seeing what happens. But like I do wonder if at some point, especially if Hunt starts playing well, if Begoian comes back, gets healthy. Um I do wonder if he’s not the first one to head back to Iowa, play the big minutes, and just see if you can kind of coach some of those things in real time down there. Yeah, there’s flashes which is good, but there’s also some big mistakes where like you have more patience with Zeve because there’s a little bit more of a motor and he’s doing a little bit more offensively as well. And I can see like Hines is trusting Zeve a little bit more too, which is nice. Yeah. Yeah. And I think like that’s been earned, right? Like I think he’s I think Joe Smith had an article today like there’s going to be some growing pains and we knew that coming in. It’s a 19-year-old defenseman playing in the NHL. like he’s not going to be perfect, but um yeah, I think there’s just continues to for me there’s been more there’s been more positive things to look at than negatives um when it comes to Zeve, but maybe that’s the rosecolored glasses. I I don’t know. Yeah. Um what else? What else? Uh, last thing I have on here, speaking of Z Buiam, um, just wondering like I think a lot of people have been like, well, you’re kind of reducing his minutes, you’ve changed his defensive partner, and now they’ve taken him off PP1. I think there was some speculation for a brief time there. It’s like, is he going to get sent to Iowa? Um, but producer Matteo had pointed out that since Zeve had been taken off the first unit that the first unit hadn’t scored a goal. I think that changed with the affforementioned Capri soft goal with the Xcreen against Nashville. But prior to that, I think it was like three or four games where that unit didn’t score and like the Wild PP was still scoring because there’s a second unit um which is where Ze was at that point. So just in your thoughts like what do you think at this moment where Ze should be playing you know obviously on the power play but first or second and why? Yeah, I think uh definitely should stay on it. I I mean whether it’s Faber or Spurgeon who’ve done it before, it’s just like they can be a quarterback, but like this is this is why they drafted Zeke like and it’s been looking pretty good, better than not, especially what you pointed. I didn’t know Matteo pointed out, but like he would be because he’s been tracking Zeve like hardcore this season. And look, the the the power play is not being fixed by taking him off of it clearly. So yeah, I I want it to be ran through him and I want him to develop into the guy that is truly the one that’s dictating it. Yeah, I I need reps. Yeah, I think this is where I’m stuck because like obviously I see the value he could bring to the first unit. But I think at the same time like there was I think a point last year I think it took 19 games and it was like 34 opportunities before Freddy Gudro scored the first goal for the second power play unit last year. Like he’s bringing a dynamic where now the Wild have two units. Yeah. Yeah, like I think you look at the elevated play of Johansson like having Rossy and Buoam and then Faber who like don’t look now but has piled up I think it is now eight points in his last six games. Um some of that coming none of that actually coming on the power play but like I was after you know the first nine games didn’t have any points like yeah he’s starting to find the offense again. I think Faber also in that stretch I think he’s got over 20 shots on goal which for like a wild defenseman is bananas. He had five against San Jose, seven against Winnipeg, two against Pittsburgh, three against Vancouver. Don’t know what he had uh tonight, but obviously the whole team wants to win, but like Faber show like he wants to win so bad. Like, and that’s what I love about him. Yeah. Like I think you’re seeing that come back. So like I think for me like again I see the value in him being on, you know, that that top unit just making that one so much more threatening. But I think being able to have two units that you can lean on and him being a big part of that second unit, I think um for me that outweighs it for right now. Um like let him get comfortable on that second unit and in time I think he’ll he’ll we’ll see him back up on that on that first unit. Yeah, it has been sneaky good. It’s just like it’s been it’s been in flashes and games where it hasn’t really mattered and I feel like in games where like we’ve needed it the most. out of like New Jersey, you know, it was so bland, right? So, I guess I would say Brett probably, funny enough, we as we’re like concluding the podcast, like we probably sound more positive than I think people coming into this postgame show like we’re thinking. And like look, like this is not a positive year. It’s still not positive. Hines seed has gone lukewarm to maybe just like warm now. There’s still a lot of bad that has to be corrected. But two, one and one in their last four, but yeah, but some games, some winnable games coming up. I think it’s three teams they should have beaten that have struggled this year. Tonight was a lot, but I think tomorrow is one they have to win again or at least I don’t want to say at least get a point. I think they need to start. No, they like [ __ ] a point. You need to get two. Like it’s just you you’ve dug yourself a hole at this point. Like two points is is what you’re is what you can’t settle. You can’t settle. Um there there was a someone in the chat I think early on had what they’re on. Yeah, here it is. Ezekiel in the chat at the top. Uh they’re projected right now based on their current pace to go 27 38 and 17. So yeah, 27 and 55 is not is not this team. Yeah. So I don’t know. We’ll we’ll see how they do in these winnable games with Zukarelloo back and we have some two scoring lines again. May maybe that is just the answer. Maybe Capriov just needs Uncle back in the lineup. Hey yo, shout out to our friend from Boston. Matt Kusnadov is the greatest hockey player of all time. Like, holy [ __ ] dude. I am gutted. Absolutely gutted. But I’m I can’t believe I’m saying I’m happy for a Boston Bruins fan. Yeah. Yes. Thank you so much. Thank you so much. Amazing what happens when you put young players in the position to succeed. By the way, another another friend from City Life. And actually, I’m going to go jump over to City Life right after this, Brett. And there’s like four fights left in this Peruvian league. Shout out to Fusion Fighting Champion. I literally have had it on in the background this whole podcast, by the way. I’ve been watching an excruciating Sunday Night Football game. I just missed a flying knee knockout here, but our friend uh CCS, I just call him sis. Um his favorite hockey player of all time is Vladimir. And so I just had to show him this this clip the right way. How much does that rub off on you and the rest of the team? What’s a rub off means? How much do you learn from that? Okay. Um, I used to sit in a different spot before all the time. But Trangul is sitting there like, “What’s a rub off mean?” Oh, one of the greatest. One of the greatest. Anyways, um, I knew I knew I knew he’d love it. Oh man, the Thursday night’s even more horrendous when I last minute put Bon Knicks, the Broncos quarterback, as my fantasy starter. you know, instead of Jackson Dart, who’s probably gonna have way more points than Nick Knicks has. I think he has eight right now. So, three and a half minutes left. So, Oh, man. Well, that’s the show, guys. Um, still losing, still disappointing. More good than not, I guess. like vibes are a little bit higher than last week because a game we didn’t think that we’re going to win. They looked a little bit better in ultimately I guess if they if they just continue to play like [ __ ] with Zukella back in the lineup then like sound the alarm bells, get Hines out of here. But like we have at least maybe an ace in the back pocket and we’ll see if uh see that comes true next week. Yeah, for sure. So, uh, they have a Wednesday game next week, so it’ll probably be Thursday, uh, again next week. I think it’s, uh, we got the Islanders tomorrow, and then I think they have a Sunday. We got one on Sunday. Yeah, Sunday against, um, Calgary and then, uh, wait, no, am I on the right? Yeah, I’m right. Just kidding. They don’t have a Wednesday game. I was looking at the wrong Carolina game. Uh, yeah. So, we’ll be back to Wednesday. We’ll be Yeah, we’ll be back. Islanders, Calgary, and then the Sharks. So, like to me that’s three games you need to win. Um, Islanders, they’ve been a pretty high event team. And then I think Colorado and San Jose are like two of the three teams below the Wild in the standings right now. So, yeah. And like you you lost to San Jose once. Like that that’s your that’s your mulligan. Like you you cannot lose to them again. Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. Well, yeah. Thanks everybody for watching. Like Brett said, we’ll be back next Wednesday for the regular show and then Monday, uh, Jud’s Buds will be live. I’ll be live with uh Z on Monday 8:30 central and then every Wednesday morning we drop uh Fellowship of the uh Rink. We banked some really awesome interviews coming out with you guys. Uh I’ll give a tease and I’ll probably drop this for members. Shout out to MN Simon. Uh we had Freddy Gudro. We got uh we got that lined up. Um and we’re going to drop that right before the Seattle game. But dude, what an awesome [ __ ] human. And yeah, I was lucky that I got to tag in for that one. So, we’ll drop that for members probably tomorrow and then the rest of you guys just got to wait a few more weeks. But uh stay tuned for uh for more Fellowship of the Rink. Like I said, guys, I got to run because I got to cover some Peruvian MMA. There’s my channel, my second channel, The City Life Project. Come hang out if you want to watch uh these freaking Peruvian and Argentina fighters beat the [ __ ] out of each other before uh before midnight here. And uh Brett, last word goes to you. Yeah, like I said, I think three winnable games these next three, and I think they got to win two out of three of those. And if they don’t, we’re going to have a very somber podcast, I think, next week. So, there you go. There you go. Actually, one last question for you. What is your favorite Pokemon game, Brett? Oo. Uh, I think it’s got to be Legends Archus. Not the new one that just came out’s okay. Not my favorite, but Legends Archus. And then, um, I really did like Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire as well. And I had a lot of fun with Scarlet and Violet, but uh, yeah. Pokemon Blue Till I Die. Let’s go. See you guys next week. [Music]

High event hockey
Wild were trash once again. The Canes broadcasters making fun of them was priceless. I enjoyed the comment, "Anderson has had so little to do that he could've ordered and ate a pizza in net"
Gustavsson is trash. Should've saved 3 of 4 goals, and he should've anticipated the cross ice pass on the one goal, so he really should've stopped all 4.
Congrats to Tyler Pitlick. Now leads the NHL in PIMs
Also, there was nothing wrong with the hit. Shoulder to chest.
16 guys have more goals than the $17M bum, including Marchand 😂
14 guys have more assists than the $17M bum, including 3 d-men and Troy Terry 😂
Ovechkin is like Mariano Rivera. You know, Mariano was a lousy starting pitcher, but he had 1 unhittable pitch, so he was a great closer. Ovechkin is a just another lazy Russian who happens to have a wicked slapshot. He hasn't played good hockey in 6 years. Also, I have seen him play live 6 times, and was left disappointed by his effort all 6 times.
I love useless math to explain nothing. Spurgeon is washed. He hasn't played good hockey in 2-3 years
The goal Johansson "scored" against Nashville wasn't a goal. By NHL rules it wasn't a goal. Watching it live, it wasn't a goal. NHL is horrible at replays.
Cutter Gauthier and Chris Krieder have scoring like crazy. Sennecke is a stud too.
Ducks have already scored 7 goals 4 times, including back-to-back games.
With Mats back, the lines should be….
Yurov-Rossi-Kaprizov
Mats-Ek-Tarasenko
Johansson-Hartman-Boldy
Trenin-Jones-Hinostroza
If the Wild were run by someone with a clue, the defense pairings should be….
Lambos-Faber
Hunt-Spacek
Spurgeon-Brodin
Jiricek is not now or ever a NHL quality player.
Buium is useless on defense. He needs 2 years in the AHL. Also, he is terrible on the PP, and even worse 5on5. He is a mess positionally, and he's got a very low hockey IQ.
I looked at the schedule before the season and said the Wild would finish 33-49. They are right there.
