NBA LIVE! Los Angeles Lakers vs Charlotte Hornets | November 10, 2025 Lakers vs Hornets Live 2K26
there with LeBron James. Then it’s Luca Donuch. And it’s Reeves in at shooting guard. And for the Hornets, all is out there with Colin Ston. Then it’s Mason Plumbley. Then it’s Miles Bridges. And it’s Miller in at the small forward position. And Clark, you can make a case that the Hornets were the best passing team last season. PA, let’s go to the numbers. I mean, they average the most assists per game in the league. And it’s not just one guy. This is a team that’s full of guys who can drop down. So, the Lakers win the tip. Donic passes to Achimura. Here’s Reeves. Aimura in the post. That one goes. Count it. As pretty much any coach, that’s how he’d like to start the game. Ball passes to Sexton and there’s a whistle. He’ll head to the line to shoot two. That one on Donic. Tons of hype around the mellow ball. The third overall pick in 2020. Just like you, Grant. Yeah, although the draft was a little different back in my day. But let me tell you, BA, there is so much pressure being a top three pick. It’s really impressive that LaMelo has lived up to the lofty expectations. and he drops a first. And as is the case most nights, we’ve got a lot of talent in the back court for both of these squads. Clark, yeah, there’s so many outstanding shot makers and playmakers in the back courts across the league. I do believe it is clearly a guards league these days. All of these guys can light it up and will light you up. So clearly a shooters league is what you see most of now. Now here’s Aiden from deep. Here’s Donic. Fumbly pulls down the board. Pass to Miller beyond the arc. gets the three ball to go. Well, you know, it’s obvious that Ball knows exactly how to work the angles. He gets the ball to a wideopen shooter just about every time. And Itachi Mura missing. That’s a rarity for him, especially against the soft defense outside. Ston. And here’s ball wide open. That one a tad offline, but it drops in for him. Well, you got to love how quick ball shot is. Doesn’t take a lot of time to get himself squared up. Time out. Time out. Timeout called the Lakers. And for the Lakers, Clark, the last decade, they haven’t been as impressive. Well, you know, BA, there’s a reason for that. They’ve missed more playoff games in the last decade than the franchise’s entire existence. And a lot of it has been due to injuries. There’s no lack of talent. LeBron took on the challenge bringing the championship in the 19 and 20 season, but last year did not turn out as they were expecting. And a big part of it was injuries and really trying to adjust to new personnel. Heat. Heat. And we’re about a minute and a half into the first quarter. Out to the right wing. Here’s Reeves. Six on the shot clock. Here’s Aimura. Tipped. Bridges against James. Bridges misses. That’s the shot you hope for. Right at the rim. Just couldn’t capitalize. And Aiden with the stuff. Yeah, looking at Aiden using all of his height and reach, slamming it down on a helpless defense. Back to ball. Pass to Bridges on the wing. Ston. Here’s Miller. Aimura covering. Ball with it. Puts up a three. Donic pulls down the board. And here in the first approaching three minutes played, the Hornets pull it in. Clean look from mid-range. Coach will probably want to run that play again. Here’s Miller. Aimura with a rebound. The Lakers trail. They need something good to happen here. Yeah, they’ve gone way too long without a score. LeBron led the NBA in his assist during his 2020 title season with the Lakers becoming the second oldest player ever to lead the league in that category. Man, that assist title for LeBron. An incredible accomplishment for someone of his size. Plus, I bet you didn’t know this, Ba. Or maybe you did cuz you are a factoid machine. But the only player taller than LeBron to lead the league in the system, Wil Chamberlain. When you throw in winning the bubble championship finals MVP, 2020 might have been LeBron’s finest season. And the first one at the line is good. Hey, there are guys who have played as long as LeBron. Okay. But how many have maintain their physical abilities the way he has so late in his career? I think that’s a short list. Both free throws good from James. And you know guys, there’s one thing that may have hurt the Hornets the past few seasons. A lack of playoff experience among their core players. Now here’s Ball. Just a superb read on defense to come up with a block. Boy, I like the fact that’s in intimidation right away. Got to show those shooters you’re going to be in their face all night long. Here’s Miller now off the inbound. Controls the rebound and the put back. Well, I like the ruggedness that Bridges plays with. This guy’s a load to stop and really can dig out those rebounds. Aimura outside. Pass to Donic. Knocked loose. Stolen by ball. Here’s Miller. rebounded by LeBron. And of the Hornets top five scorers last season, three have never been to the playoffs. NBA, that can be tough when the pressure is on. They’ve gotten blown out in playing games each of the last two seasons, but with all their talent, they should be in the postseason soon enough. Excellent tempo on the play, and he leads his teammate perfectly. Ball passes to section. Here’s Miller. to the wing on the left. Ball finds Bridges. Pock and four. Here’s Miller. He can’t get it to go and the Lakers will go the other way with it. Here’s James and that misses. That would have put him up. The Hornets have gone only three for nine from the floor. Pass to Miller and Aiden pulls it down. He hasn’t been able to find his touch this quarter. To me, it appears he’s starting to lose his composure a little bit. We’ll see if he can regroup and get back into a better rhythm. Here’s Miller with his first shot attempt off the left rim and out. That’s a good player missing from point blank range. That’s one you got to convert. Pass to Aiden that falls. Nice feed that time from James. Really doesn’t matter what position LeBron is playing the point, the four or the five. James changes games with his passing ability. Now a timeout called by Charlotte. Failing to find a rhythm offensively, something that needs to change and change soon. And I think this timeout guys is where you draw up some plays that are guaranteed to create some high percentage shots. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Ball outside from deep three-point range. And that one goes out of bounds. Last touch by ball. The Lakers have gone four of 10 shooting the rock in this first quarter. Here’s Donic and the officials whistle a foul on the shot. The bucket is good and he’ll go to the line. Boy, this is why me and so many others are high on Donic. I mean, he’s got the ability to fight through challenges that defenses present. All right, guys. Let’s get your take on the scoring breakdown for Los Angeles. They’ve done a great job establishing an inside presence. Now, that’ll open up more options offensively throughout the remainder of the game. I would like to highlight too, guys, the excellent passing they’ve done early on. I mean, they’ve done a really good job putting the ball into the hands of guys ready to shoot it. And the free throw, no good. Luca Donic is a do-it-all player. I mean, he does everything for this team, including being a walking, triple, and double threat on a game by-game basis. Here’s Miller. Shooting two. Both shots good from the strike. Making it look effortless. Send this guy to the strike. He’s going to cash in more than not. Hachimura outside. Pass to Reeves back to Aimura and it’s stolen by Pley who poked away and so it looks like the Hornets will retain possession here. Smarts checked in for Luca Donic. Smart against ball. Oh, and makes it with the kiss. Ball’s got six points. Ball’s got a little more strength than you might think. Able to muscle that time right through the aggressive defense. Fantastic replay we just saw of the mobile one drive. And I love the way he played downhill on that drive. Love the attack mentality in a close game. Pass to Aimura. That one off the back iron and out. The Hornets with the lead. Sexton up top. Still getting warmed up offensively. No buckets yet in the game from him. And the foul is called. He missed it. So he’s got a couple of free throws coming his way. I don’t mind that. I mean, they met him at the rim and temporarily prevented the points. Old school D right there. Just telling them no easy layups. It’s as simple as that. And that’s what you expect from them. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. No good on the free throw. Well, if you want consistency, get the five spot. Mason Plumbley is a good player to have in the rotation. Clark could not agree with you more. Be a a consmate professional and extremely hard worker. rebounds at a high level and he is one of the best playmaking centers in the NBA. And no good on the second free throw. So 0 for two there. Takes one from 10 ft. And there it is for him. And the Lakers lead by one. You got to appreciate the consistency night in and night out. He brings it. Pass to the closer. Back to Smith from outside the ark. Here’s Plumbley. And there’s the bucket. Staying with it that time. Offensive glass getting it done already. Five lead changes here. Speaks to how evenly matched these teams have been thus far. Here’s Reeves. Great start so far. Three of three in this one. Trading the lead back and forth. Neither side is willing to back down. Yeah, and the lead has changed hands and it just hasn’t stayed in those hands very long when it’s changed. Back and forth we go. Here’s the closer. Oh, he picked him clean into the lane. Kicks it out to Smart. Here’s ABC looking for his first basket still in this one. Five on the clock. Hey, from beyond the ark and Smart gets the three. And now a four-point Los Angeles lead. They’re searching for a way to score. Yeah, buckets have been very tough to come by. Smith passes to Plumbley. Here’s the closer. And he got the whistle on the way up. So he’ll be headed to the line for a pair. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. First one falls for him. Off on that one. So he goes one out of two at the line. The Lakers in the lead. Smart with the ball. Plumbley pulls down the board. Plumbley’s got eight rebounds in the game. It’s Bridges on the wing. This one for three. Rebounded by the Lakers. And so he draws the foul. Headed to the line to shoot a pair. Heat. Heat. First free throw is good. and he makes both free throws. Charlotte trailing pass to man releases and once again off the mark by Charlotte all alone from mid-range. You got to think he’s kicking himself. That one’s good for two. Give him eight. They’re punishing those late defensive rotations. Getting good looks inside throughout the half. Smith outside. Here’s the closer now. Bridges inside. Smith no good. Boy, he has to put that one away. A solid opportunity going to rock. Here’s Smart and he’ll draw the foul. He’ll head to the line for two. It goes on Mason Plumbley. Man, good whistle there. Yeah, you can hear the smack all the way over here where we are. And that one falls for Smart. And the Hornets making a change here. Jeff has checked in. And so Smart nails them both. Here’s Smith. Boy, no scoring yet from him, but that’s likely to change. Pass to man. Here’s Jeff. Here’s Plumley. Smith outside over Smart and they get it back. Here’s Plumley. Well, it was only a matter of time before they finally get the bucket. He got in excellent position, then takes it right back up. Here’s Reeves. Give him eight left side. Vanderbilt. Smart outside. The Lakers got to get one up. Late clock and that one’s good. ABC. And for the Hornets, they’re shooting only 26% in the first pass to Jeff. Now Bridges guarded by Vanderbilt. Here’s man. Oh, and there’s the whistle on the shot. So, two free throws for him coming up. Man, he made sure to get his money’s worth on that foul. He got him good there. I mean, that’s why the shot was so far off. shooting two. The first free throw is good and the Lakers making a change here. That one falls. So, he hits both of them. And for the Lakers, they’re shooting an excellent 56% in this quarter. Here’s Donic. And there’s another one for the Lakers. Well, I think this is exactly what the coaching staff wants from Donic, guys. to me being aggressive and committed to scoring the ball, looking for his shot. There wasn’t much defensive resistance there, guys, but somehow he blew it anyway. Missed opportunity. And so it’s the Los Angeles Lakers with a 9-point cushion at the end of the quarter. They’ve done well to disrupt the opposition playing inspired defense. We’ll be back in a moment. And if you’re just tuning in, we’ve got a wide margin on the scoreboard, but plenty of time left for a comeback. Guys, what stands out to you from the Lakers in this one? Give it up for their D. They’re battling, communicating, and coming up with key stops. They’ve got them rattled. It’s only the first quarter and already they’ve made enough big plays on defense to last really an entire game. You know, the point forward is an archetype that by now fans are familiar with. Grant, you were one of the OGs at the point forward. How’s that position evolved in your mind? Well, it’s evolved because so many players today have the skill set to be a point forward. Before me, there were guys like Paul Pressie and Scotty Pippen in the 80s and early 90s. But as I said, players today, the skill level is so elite and with this positionless basketball that we’re in, you must have a point forward or two on your team to be successful. So on the floor for the Lakers to kick off the second quarter, they’ve got DeAndre Aton, LeBron James out there with Ruachimura. Then it’s Luca Donuch. And it’s ABC in at the shooting guard position. And so it’s Charlotte with it. The Lakers getting their last shot to go outside Ston. Ball passes to Bridges. Just five on the clock. Rebound by the Lakers. Aton’s got his fourth rebound in this one. Just over a minute has passed here in the second quarter. The shot from 20 ft out. And for the Hornets, they’re shooting only 23% so far. Pass to Miller. Big coming. Pick coming. Coming. Over to the wing. Plumbley finds ball. Charlotte needs to get one up in a hurry. Oh, Aiden with the block. Yeah, has all the physical gifts of a great shot blocker. Size, length, and agility. Coach is loving the ball movement. Now, here’s Ball. Six points for him. Pass to Miller. Bridges outside. The three from Ball. He buries it from three. Ball’s got nine. The defense must honor Ball’s three-point shot. He’s more than ready to snipe away if you give him the opportunity to do so. Aiden against Plumbley down low. Ooh, he took a hard foul on the shot. So, he’ll head to the line to shoot a pair. He misses the free throw. He hits the second from the line. And a little under two and a half minutes gone by here in the second quarter. Ball passes to Bridges. Off the mark. Had a chance there to trim it to single digits for Los Angeles. They’ve got two of three shots to go in the second and he loves it up top. When you play with Luca now, Donic, he’s ready to find you if you’re open. So, you’ve got to be ready to receive. Now, a timeout called by Hey, Charlotte. There’s just a lot of wide open lanes to the rim here. That’ll drive your coach nuts. And, you know, I think he’s going to tell him simply, we have to show more fight on the interior. That’s the top priority right now. What are you doing? Heat. Heat. Reeves has checked in for the Lakers. Now, for those joining us now, we’re in the second quarter. About three minutes gone by. The three from Ston. The Lakers have gotten three or four field goals in the second quarter. Pass to James and it’s James with the jam. James throwing it down with that power dunk. You know, the defense can’t allow him to get what he wants inside because that’s easy picking for LeBron. All right, let’s get a report from Alli. Well, guys, the NBA expanding its footprint through video games. Commissioner Adam Silver said, quote, “There’s an opportunity to capture a new kind of fan who isn’t currently watching our games, but enjoys playing NBA 2K. By learning about the players in the team, they’re more likely to engage in the live product.” Brian, yeah, it goes hand in hand, Ally. Thanks. Well, part of the game plan was to neutralize the crowd. And guess what? Mission accomplished. And what’s been impressive is that it’s not been any one player. That’s great. It’s been a collective effort. Contributions from everybody. The screener was leaning a bit right there. His feet may not have been planted. Pretty obvious call by the officials. Yeah, I agree. You know, sometimes that can be a tough call for the refs to make, but not that time. It was easy there. Now here is James. A 17-point lead, their biggest. And there’s a 3second violation. And for the Hornets, they’re shooting only 23% so far. Pass to Miller to the paint. They need this. And it’s Bridges with the jam. Such an athletic guy. Bridges just hammers it down. Back to Donic. Here’s Reeves. Checked by Ston and another three for the Lakers. And just not letting up at all. I mean, you have to love this approach. You want to get the ball to the guys who make plays. If it’s working, keep working it. That’s what I say. Keep the pressure on. And play stops. A whistle there on what looks like an illegal screen. Here are the Lakers now. They’re on a 14 to five run. Pass to Aiden. Here’s Reeves. Fires the three. Ball with the rebound. The Hornets have gotten only two of eight field goals to go in the second. James with the rebound. James has got six rebounds here tonight. Here’s Aimura. He’s now two of five from the field. Now a timeout called by Charlotte. Yeah. Hoping to tap into something that’ll get them clicking. Yeah. And you know that’s going to be the focus of this timeout. They need to come up with a spark to get the offense going. Heat. Heat. Woo! Woo! And for Charlotte, they’re shooting just 24% in this one. Not great, the shake, and that one goes four for seven for him so far. Boy, ball plays with so much confidence. You know, this guy believes in what he can do, including finding ways to score it inside. Here’s Reeves. 13 points in the game, and the officials will call the illegal screen here. One of the trickier plays to judge, but it would be hard to argue against the call. Yeah, you know, the officials aren’t nearly as lenient as they used to be on that call. As a matter of fact, I know I got away with a lot of those in my playing days, but that was 40 years ago. Pass to Miller. Now here’s ball guarded by Donic. Now here’s Bridges. Takes it inside and he lays it up and in. Bridges has got six. Well, I love the athleticism he brings to the table. Bridges can really score on the move and still maintain control of his body in those tight windows. Now here’s Aiden. He’s got six. That one is off. Pass to Ston. Fires from deep. The shot comes out and Los Angeles the other way now. Donic on the wing. pounded by ball and Miles Bridges is going to pick up the foul. That’ll be his second foul of the game. Man, he’s checked in for Ston. The Lakers also with a sub. Hayes is checked in on defense. The Hornets, they trail by 16. Hachimura finds Donic. Shot clock at six. And there’s the whistle. The illegal screen is the call. Here’s Charlotte. Ball outside. Pass to the closer. Six to shoot. Parked it down low that time. Got hit with the 3second call. That’s a costly error. Let’s see how they bounce back. Well, you know what? Their wounds are self-inflicted. I mean, you’ve got to play much smarter than that. Jeff checked in for Charlotte. Smith comes in for LaMelo Ball. Vanderbilt’s checked in for the Lakers. Smart comes in for Donic. Here’s Reeves. 13 points in the game. Here’s Aimura. And he was fouled while in the act of shooting. So, he’ll take two free throws. Shoot. Two. Free throw. Good. Aimura. and he can’t hit the second. And for the Hornets, they’re shooting just around 33% since the second quarter got underway. Bridges And Reeves pulls it down. The Lakers have gotten seven of 10 attempts. Just a drop in the second quarter. Vanderbilt. The pass to Smart. Bridges on the double. And here’s Vanderbilt from the arc. Gets the three to fall. Vanderbilt’s gotten himself going here. His first points of the game on the deep ball. Pass to Jeff. Back to Smith. Oh, they get a hand on it and the ball is tied up. So, we’ll have a jump ball. And it’s the Hornets with the ball. Shot clock at five. Shot is up. No good. Off the back of the rim. The Lakers have gone eight of 11 in the second quarter. Get there. Get there. Aimura outside. I got I got your help. Pass to Smart from deep. doesn’t go for him. And Charlotte going the other the way now. Smith left side. Oh, and he got fouled on his way up. He’ll head to the line to shoot two. Two shots. They’ll pin that one on Marcus Smart. Well, that was clearly a foul. Yeah, he took a shot there. Earned those free throws. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots and he knocks down the first one. Plumbley’s checked in for Charlotte. And so he makes both from the line. The Lakers dominating the game. Pass to Reeves. Hachimura outside. fires from 14 and the Hornets with possession here. Smith inside, defended by Smart. Some solid defense from Hayes to the right side. Here’s Reeves. Right side, Vanderbilt. And again, no good by the Lakers. Here’s Jeff. He drops it from range. Good heads up basketball. Sees an opening and capitalizes. Machimura left side. Back to Smart. Hornets with the rebound. There’s the three. Here’s Miller. Another shot. Misses that shot. Struggling now. Shooting one for eight. Here’s Reeves. 13 points in the game. And a foul called on the way up. So he’ll take two from the free throw line. But man, the defender really went after him. Yeah, if you’re going to foul, then make sure that you don’t give a chance for the and one. the first one falls and the Lakers making a change here. It’s both from the stripe and Charlotte shooting just around 26% for the game. Smith outside. Here’s man. Clock at six. 13 ft out. Pass to Miller and Reeves pulls it down. The Lakers have gone eight of 15 in the second. Shot from 12. Plumbley pulls down the board. Plumbley’s got 13 rebounds in the game. Glass eating. Here’s Jeff. So, it’ll be two free throws. He was fouled in the act of shooting. Everyone in the building saw the obvious contact. Yeah, the officials didn’t need to talk that one over. It was obvious. shooting two and he knocks down the first one. and that one goes in. Two from the line that time. A minute six left in the first half. Pass to Reeves. Here’s ABC. And he’s going to the line for two. The officials saw contact while he was going up. Heat. Heat. And he makes a first So, one for two that time at the stripe and the Hornets with possession here. 43 seconds left to play in the first half. Oh, plenty of contact on that shot. Officials call the foul and he’ll take two free throws now. Shooting two. First free throw is good. Both good from the line that time. The Lakers have gotten half their shots to fall in the second. Eight for 16. Pass to ABC. Smart outside. And here’s Hayes. He’s checked by Plumbley. Just five to shoot. Hey, shots good. And trust me, when the D’s slow to react, he’ll be the first guy to make them pay. Boy, the defense looks shell shocked. I mean, they’re on the ropes right now on their heels. Smith outside over Smart. And so it’s Los Angeles in control with a 16-point advantage heading into the break. Defense is setting the tone. More 2K action in just a moment. And now the 2K Sports Halftime Show. Hey everybody, welcome to the 2K Sports Halftime program. I’m Ernie Johnson alongside Shaquille O’Neal and Kenny the Jet Smith. It’s the Lakers out on top at halftime. They’re leading by 16. Kenny, give us your take. The difference in bench points is staggering. Their second unit came to play tonight. They were aggressive. You got to figure the starters are loving it. Seeing how much work their second unit is getting. And big fella, your thoughts on the Hornets. They really need to focus on finding quality shots. If they can’t create for themselves in the second half, things will only get worse. And I’m talking about the high percentage looks, not contested threes. And that’ll do it for us. The third quarter about to begin with Kevin Harland standing by. We’ll catch you on the flip side, my brother. Yeah, there wasn’t too much drama in the first half, but maybe things will tighten up here in the second. Charlotte is shooting just 24% in this one. Not great. They’ve got Miles Bridges. Ball is out there with Colin Ston and it’s Jeff in at the pivot spot manning the middle. That’s the Hornets five. And it’s Bridges with the jam. Boy, look how easily Bridges shoots through the contact there. I mean, his mechanics are strong as is his body. Pass to Reeves. Aimura outside. Now Donic pounded by Ball and there’s Donic. That’s good on the assist from Aimura. Aimura’s got his fifth assist in this one. That’s a textbook example of how to move the ball. Boy, you got to love that action. And we just had to see that mobile one drive one more time. Great stuff. And you know, BA, even with the game well in control, he’s going right at the rim. I love it. Here’s Miller. Bridges outside. Jacks up a three. Good. That’s his fifth bucket in nine attempts. No hesitation from Bridges there. He knows exactly when he should look to shoot it off the catch. Now here’s Aiden. Six points for him. And they recover it. Here’s Aimura. Second chance effort. Gets rebounded by Charlotte. Ball outside. Outside section. Pass to Miller. Ball with it. Here’s Jeff outside Ston. Shot clock at three. From deep and they call an illegal screen here. One of the trickier plays to judge, but it would be hard to argue against the call. Yeah, you know, the officials aren’t nearly as lenient as they used to be on that call. As a matter of fact, I know I got away with a lot of those in my playing days, but that was 40 years ago. And the Hornets making a change here. Plumbley’s checked in. And how about that replay, man? You got to appreciate the hustle on defense. Reads the play well there and gets himself in the air at just the right time. Terrific denial. Donic outside. Pass to James and so he draws the foul. Headed to the line to shoot a pair. It’s going to be on Miles Brides. So physically powerful. A tough task to defend LeBron inside. Shoot for two. And he drops a first. Both free throws good from James. A difficult situation for Charlotte. Back to ball outside section and the Hornets. Another three. A total defensive collapse. I mean, no reason to allow him that kind of space from behind the arc. Donic passes to Aiden. goes back up and James gets it to go. James has got four points now in the quarter. Boy, really nice play. LeBron showing real good instincts on the offensive glass there. Here’s Miller. Five points in the game for three. Ston and Aiden pulls it down. Aiden’s got six rebounds here tonight. To the middle. And there’s James on the assist from Donic. James has got 10. Yeah, you know, LeBron is such a talented finisher. The defense in that situation just unable to keep him from that shot. And it’s good. Two points. You have to love the unselfishness on display there. Excellent passing. Here’s Donic. The Hornets making their last shot to the inside and it’s Achimura missing. The Hornets have gotten four of their first five shot to go since the break. No coverage that time. Ston’s gotten his second bucket. Their strategy has been pretty simple here in the second half. Attack from three-point range. Certainly, I mean, they saw a weakness in the perimeter defense and took advantage of it. Now here’s Donic. Give him eight points now. Tried to answer back, but that three is off the mark. Let’s check in with our reporter, Ally Leforce. Well, guys, Commissioner Silver’s open to change. He said, quote, “We’re not beholden to pure tradition. We care a lot about it, but all the factors I think about when we talk about changing the rules, I’m less concerned about that. We should live in the present, be respectful of those records, but also be willing to adjust when it makes sense. BA. All right. Thanks, Ally. Gets the shot he wants. The defense wasn’t quite connected enough. They lost contact. And it’s James with the jam. A bit undized. His hops make him a legit small ball forward. Ball passes to Plumbley outside. Ston down low. Ball outside and too long on the shot. You can’t ask for a cleaner look than that. He just couldn’t deliver. Connects from downtown. He’s pouring it on at a nice clip. And the rest of the team is stepping up as well. Come get it. Come get it. Ball outside. Here’s Miller. Yes, sir. And it’s Paul with the assist that time. Paul’s got his fourth assist in this one. This is just fun. These teams are trading threes back and forth. Nothing like answering back. One team gets three, you fire three of your own. Boom. Now here’s Aiden. Six points for him. Four on the clock. Here’s Miller 13 ft out and he gets it to go. Hitting off the back of the rim. He’s got 15. Got to fight harder to get over those screens. Well, I’m going to credit the screen. I mean, that’s a good strong pick. He lays down. Bridges against James. Six to shoot. Here’s Reeves. Oh, a clear foul there on the missed shot. So, he’ll get a pair at the line. It goes on Mason Plumbley. The officials were right on top of that one. Clearly a foul. I mean, didn’t give him any choice but to blow the whistle. I mean, you got to play without fouling. Shooting two. The first free throw is good. and good on the second. So he makes them both for Charlotte. They’ve gone eight of 10 in the third. Been looking in control. Pass to Ston. Here’s the closer. Go. The baseline Jay is on the way for Los Angeles. They’ve gotten five of 10 shots to go. Here’s Aiden. Oh, and the jam by Aton. Woo. Defensively, you can’t afford to let him get to the rim that easily. Well, that might be why their deficit is what it is right now. You know, you look at it, the communication is lacking, as is the trust. They can ill afford those types of breakdowns. It won’t work. You can’t win with those kind of breakdowns. And a closer look here at the scoring breakdown for the Lakers. Well, you know, for me, the passing has been fantastic all night. Everybody loves watching this style of basketball where the ball moves and players move, coaches, fans, and even us broadcasters can appreciate that kind of action. One other thing they’ve done very well has been scoring inside. Just pounding and grinding down there. And the first one at the line is good. The Hornets making a switch here. Man’s checked in. Vanderbilt’s checked in for Los Angeles. Smart comes in for Reeves. So he gets them both for Los Angeles. They’ve gotten six of 11 attempts to fall so far in the third. Pass to James. No good. and Charlotte going the other way now. Here’s the closer. So, it’ll be two free throws. He was fouled in the act of shooting. two. And that one misses Smith. He’s checked in for Ston. is both the Lakers shooting has been good. 54 4% on this one. Donic no good. And he’s doing things on the glass tonight that we don’t often see. Boy, he has put in some major work. He’s earning his pay for sure. Here’s man overmart. Charlotte again missing. Oh man, he can’t get anything to fall. You can feel his frustration and he’s got to find other ways to contribute then because his shot making is not happening right now. The ball distribution was there. I mean, outstanding work all the way around and the Hornets with possession here. The Lakers getting their last shot to go on the wing man defended by Smart. Pass to the closer. 16 ft out. Here’s Miller. Oh, great D that time from Donic. The Lakers have gotten seven of 14 attempts to fall in the half. Oh, and there’s the whistle on the shot. So, two free throws for him coming up. Shooting two. First one falls for him. Jeff checked in for Charlotte. And the Lakers also making a change. Hayes has checked in for James. And so he hits both. The Hornets have gotten eight of 14 attempts to go in the second half so far. Boy, they need something to go to regain some confidence. No question. Way too many empty possessions for them. And there’s the call. It’s going to be an illegal screen. Well, the league has put an emphasis to crack down on illegal screens. Yeah, you know, he might have gotten away with with that a few years ago, but not anymore. No way. Now, you’ve got to be stationary on those screens. No extra hips or elbows or they’ll call it. Now, here’s Donic. Give him eight. Smart outside. The rebound by man. And for the Hornets, their shooting has been excellent in the third quarter at 57%. Jeff, good D by Vanderbilt. Here’s ABC and he makes it on the layup. 12 points for him. A super high percentage shot there. You just can’t allow him to get that close. Pass to Plumley. Back to man. Hayes against Plumbley to the middle. Out of bounds as Charlotte keeps possession. the three. Smith knocks down the triple. Smith’s got five now. Welldesigned inbounds play. It’s an arc. Donic passes to Smart. Here’s ABC. 12 points for him. Down to five on the shot clock. Vanderbilt inside. Second chance shot and the layup is up and in. And that’s a back breaker for the defense. I mean, offensive boards like that run momentum against you. Well, you know, that’s the way it’s going to be for them today, fellas. Can’t sustain any momentum. Here’s Jeff. Seven points in the game. And even from where we’re sitting, you could clearly tell it was a foul. No question about it. I mean, a ton ton of contact and a good call by the officials. That free throw misses. The Lakers making a switch here. Aiden’s checked in. Good on the second one. And there’s 138 left to play in the third. Dantic finds Aiden over Plumbley. Missed it. Four for eight in the contest. Smith outside. Pass to Plumbley. We’ve got 113 left in the third quarter. Here’s Smith. Fires the jumper from the corner and nails it. Smith’s got seven points. Gets smart on the wing now. Aiden. Hey, puts up a three. Missed it there. He’s four for nine now. Pass to the closer. Back to Smith. Here’s Plumbley. And the call is going to be Yes. An illegal screen. The screener was leaning a bit right there. His feet may not have been planted. Pretty obvious call by the officials. Yeah, I agree. You know, sometimes that can be a tough call for the refs to make, but not that time. It was easy there. Miles Bridges checked in for Charlotte. LaMelo Ball comes in for Smith and Aiden gets it to go. Grown man strength right there. Aiden just pushing through contact and getting it done. Ball against Aiden. Ball outside. shoots over Aidton and another basket for Charlotte. And I love it. Challenging the bigger defender and showing plenty of heart. Well, the size mismatch is no problem for this fellow guy. I mean, how much do you like seeing that aggressiveness from them? And so it’s Los Angeles going into the break up 12. They put in work down low, getting in close and scoring in bunches. Time for a quick break, then back to the action. Well, there may not be a lot of drama down the stretch as we head into the fourth quarter, but stranger things have happened. Well, Los Angeles shooting has been good around 52% from the field. And so in the game for the Lakers, they’ve got Luca Donic, LeBron James out there with DeAndre Aiden. Then it’s Ruachimura and it’s Reeves in a two spot. Plumbley down low. He’s against Aton and he was fouled while in the act of shooting. So he’ll take two free throws. It’s going to be on DeAndre Aton. Man, the defender really went after him. Yeah, if you’re going to foul then make sure that you don’t give a chance for the and one. Two shots. He’s off on the first. Second free throw. No good. Donic with it. Pass to Aiden. Here’s Reeves. Screen. Screen. Screen. Here’s Donic. Takes the three. Pure from three-point range. And the Lakers lead by 17. Now here’s Ston. Here’s Miller. No good with the triple. Now Los Angeles with it. Here in the fourth quarter, their defense has been very strong. No baskets allowed. And there’s Aiden on the assist from James. Aidan’s gotten four this quarter. Yeah, this is where Aiden’s comfortable operating using his height and array of inside moves to his advantage. And no lack of aggression on that move. Good for the 2K drive. Yeah, he made that drive look easy, but that had a high degree of difficulty. Ball against Stonic and he got the whistle on the way up. So he’ll be headed to the line for a pair. Two shots. Relax on the first. and he drops a first. Well, I tell you, I like Ball’s mental makeup for such a young guy. Plays with patience and the wisdom of a 10-year vet, and he produces in every area. So, after making the first, he goes one for two. The Lakers have gone a perfect three for three here in the fourth. I love great defense. Just quick to establish his feet and he takes the hit and not afraid to put his body on the line either. He took a shot for the team in that situation. Final quarter here and we’re just over a minute and a half through it. There’s Ball with a three. Rebound by the Lakers. Eightton’s got nine rebounds now. Go low. Pass to Reeves. Now here is James pounded by ball. No luck on that one. And Charlotte going the other way now. Go. Bridges misses. And the Lakers shooting 53%. Good efficiency on offense so far. inside and Aiden gets it to go and the Lakers lead by 20 and it only makes sense to give him the rock again. He put the team on his back all game and no let up in him either guys. I mean he wants to continue to expand that lead and as long as he’s the one taking the shot that lead’s going to expand. Aimura outside back to Donic. Boy, what more can we say about LeBron? I mean, he’s simply one of the greatest to ever play. The Hornets have gone one of four since the fourth quarter began. Here’s Bull. Ooh, Aton with the block. Here’s Reeves. The shot is good. Donic making the play. He’s got 22. Major dominance and it comes so easily for him. fantastic at getting to his spots on the floor. Timeout call. The Hornets. Yeah. Hoping to tap into something that’ll get them clicking. Yeah. And you know, that’s going to be the focus of this timeout. They need to come up with a spark to get the offense going. Heat. Heat. The Hornets shooting at about 34% here in this game. Ball passes to Sexton. Bridges outside. Pass to Sexton. Ball with it. Here’s Miller. Aimura covering. Five to shoot. From the low block. Bridges misses. Yeah, we’re not used to seeing him get bottled up like that. Wow. James passes to Donic. Aiden with it. Pounded by Ball and Aiden gets it to go. Aiden’s got 12 points in just the second half. In the NBA, you just can’t let guys get to the rim. Ball passes to Plumbley. Here’s Miller. The three is up and once again off the mark by Charlotte. It’s clear he’s totally out of sync. The team needs to rethink its strategy around what to do with him. shooting two. The first free throw is good. A new lineup here for Charlotte. He’s perfect from the line this time. They just can’t stop this run. And honestly, the more empty trips they have, the more they feel the pressure. Outside Williams. Smith right side, laid it in with a nice touch off the window. The Lakers have gone seven of eight in this fourth quarter. Pass to Reeves. Back to Donic. Now here’s Aiden. Here’s Reeves. And a foul called on the way up. So he’ll take two from the free throw line. He took the contact and had an opportunity to drain it. Boy, terrific play there. I thought even with all the contact, he still was going to get that shot to go down. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. And he can’t get the first one. And he’s good on the second. The Hornets have got two of eight shots to drop in the final quarter. Trying to find a spark here. Yes, indeed. A rough stretch offensively. They could really use a basket. Well, this man knows how to handle that rock. Looks like it’s part of his body. To the paint and with the stuff. And this is how dynamic Aidton can be on the offensive end. Keep giving him the ball, please. Pass to Miller. Back to ball. Up and over. Donic. No good. Off the front rim. Well, it’s a make or miss league. Sometimes the Jays just don’t fall. It wasn’t a bad shot. Did a great job on the back end of the play. Yep. Finished with both hands making sure of it. Yeah, highly efficient. Nothing extra special there. Just effective. The three from Ston. We know how good a shooter he is. It’s frustrating for him when he’s not able to knock down that kind of wide open look. Hornets with the rebound. Bridges has got eight rebounds in the game. Pass to Miller. Oh, and he brings it down with a two-handed jam. Boy, I tell you, Bridges doing a nice job there. and his teammates appreciate when he looks to get them involved. The three is up and another three for the Lakers. Woo! That man is laser focused now. That’s bad defense for a team that has a long way to go to catch up. They look pretty demoralized to me and that always shows through at the defensive end first. A perfect example of how to protect the rim. And you know guys, I love his height and grit on the interior. I mean, he never lets a shot go uncontested. A total defensive collapse. I mean, no reason to allow him that kind of space from behind the ark. Back to ball. Pass to Miller down low. Plumbley down low. He’s covered by Aiden. Plumbley. No good. Inside James and slam dunk by James. His playmaking is something to watch. Threading that pass right in there. Plumbley up top. Pass to Ston. Now here’s ball guarded by Donic. Six on the shot clock. Pumbley finds Sexton. Solid as a rock from 20 ft out. Ston’s got four points this quarter. Really nice job moving the ball around that time, picking apart that defense. James outside. Donic against ball. Now here’s Donic. Tightly guarded. And it’s ABC missing. The Hornets shooting 33%. This hasn’t been their quarter. Everyone in the building saw the obvious contact. Yeah, the officials didn’t need to talk that one over. It was obvious. two. And the first one at the line is good. Both teams will make substitutions. That’s also good. So he hits both free throws. Los Angeles shooting the rock at 58%. Clea outside. Pass to Vincent. Three-pointer sends it home from three-point land. Slow defensive rotation causing a breakdown along the perimeter. Conor outside. from 12 ft. Tries again and he takes it up and lays it in. It’s never easy trying to keep him off the glass. He’s an absolute beast down there. Here’s Vincent. Pass to ABC. Fires for three and the Lakers hit again from deep. Got to fight harder to get over those screens. Well, I’m going to credit the screen. I mean, I mean, that’s a good strong pick. He lays there. Outside. Green and blocked. That one goes careening off the glass. They get it back. Williams. Rebound by the Lakers. back. Out to the right wing. Here’s ABC. Back to Vincent. Pass to ABC. Green covering. Here’s ABC. Second shot opportunity. Excellent D there from Conatan. Outside Green. And we’re going to have a jump ball. So it’s the Hornets now. Pass to Miller. lets the three fly. Here’s Williams. Second chance shot. Tried to bank it in, but it misses. And the Lakers with possession here. Here’s ABC. It’s intercepted on the wing. Green and Williams punches it home. It’s safe to say they have dominated this game. The game wasn’t even as close as the score says in a great win for the Lakers. And it was a big time performance across the board. They looked like they were having fun out there, Grant. Yeah, BA. It was almost like watching a cat play with a mouse. I mean, they did pretty much anything they wanted to do out there today and propelling them to a solid win. It was a night of big plays for DeAndre Aton. Tell you what, this guy worked his behind off on both ends of the floor. He was really an intimidating presence out there. Now here’s Green. Defense is right there. Pass to Miller. Just five on the clock. off target with the three and the Lakers have possession. Green covering and looks like an illegal pick was set. That gets the ref’s attention. One of the trickier plays to judge, but it would be hard to argue against the call. Yeah, you know, the officials aren’t nearly as lenient as they used to be on that call. As a matter of fact, I know I got away with a lot of those in my playing days, but that was 40 years ago. Smith, he’s checked in for Charlotte. And the Lakers also making a change. Smarts checked in now. 8 seconds. Separating the two clocks. Williams misses. Smart again. It’s Conton. Smart outside. So, we see the Lakers taking the W here. This one wasn’t even close. The hometown crowd was waiting for a miracle that never came. Yeah, and this team was consistent throughout. They met every challenge and they earned this dub. Well, now we have some time to check in with Ally Leforce. Ally LeBron, you’ve accomplished so much in this league. How have you been able to sustain it for so long? You know, it’s only a select few. It’s not many who make it to this point. And and I would never take the game for granted. That’s why I try to give everything I can till I can’t give no more. And I’ve been around some great players, great coaches, great organizations, and uh for me to have this opportunity right here means a lot. And I’m very humbled. Well, you’re a sponge for knowledge and you have a great work ethic and it’s been fun to watch. Thanks, LeBron. All right, Ally. Good stuff there. Thanks for that. And that’s going to do it tonight, folks, for our broadcast for Grant Hill, Clark Kellogg, and Ally Leforce. This is Brian Anderson thanking you for watching. We’ll see you later.
