Jim Harbaugh: Chargers’ players have ‘hearts of champions’ | PSNFF | NFL on NBC

RECEIVER. HE’S NONEXISTENT ON THE FIELD. >> YEAH, YEAH. ALL RIGHT. WELL AFTER HERE’S A JOLLY GOOD FELLOW. THE HEAD COACH DID STEP UP TO THE MIC. HERE IS THE WINNER. AND COACH HARBAUGH. >> WELL, FIRST I WANT TO CONGRATULATE. KEENANLLEN SETTING. >> THE RECEPTION RECORD. >> MOST IN CHARGERS HISTORY. SO MANY. >> GREAT. >> CHARGER RECEIVERS. IT’S PHENOMENAL RECORD. ALSO, KHALIL. MACK BECOMES ONLY THE SECOND. >> PLAYER IN. NFL HISTORY TO HAVE. >> 35 OR MORE SACKS. >> FOR THREE DIFFERENT FRANCHISES. >> HIM AND KEVIN GREEN. AND CAM DICKER TYING A FRANCHISE RECORD OF 59 YARD FIELD GOAL. CONGRATULATIONS TO THEM. THOSE ARE THOSE ARE HUGE, HUGE HONORS. I THINK I LIKE THE MOST I MEAN, I LIKE, I LIKE WINS THAT ARE DECIDED BY GREAT PREPARATION. GREAT STRATEGY. YOU KNOW, FINESSE. BUT THE BEST TO ME ARE THE, THE PHYSICAL ONES, YOU KNOW, ONE BY HEART AND GRIT AND GUTS. AND TO ME, THOSE ARE THE BEST. AND THAT’S THAT’S WHAT THIS ONE WAS. AND I JUST FEEL LIKE OUR TEAMS GOT THEY GOT HEARTSF CHAMPIONS. AND AND NOW YOU KNOW, THIS, THIS NEXT WEEK GOING FORWARD, YOU KNOW, OUR BEST PERFORMANCE IS GOING TO BE NEEDED. BUT YEAH, I, I LOVE THESE KIND OF, THESE KINDF WINS. PHYSICAL, TOUGH HEART GUTS, GRIT. >> SO YOU CALLED HIM A GENIUS? WE’RE THINKING OF THE THE SHOVEL PASS PLAY. WHAT WAS THAT MOMENT LIKE WHEN HE CAME AND ASKED FOR THE PASS AT THE END YEAH, I THOUGHT I THOUGHT THAT WAS REALLY GOOD. >> THAT WAS REALLY GOOD. WE. BECAUSE, I MEAN, IT’S JUST HE’S GOT FAMILY HERE. HE’S GOT, YOU KNOW, WANT TO WANT TO DO IT. AND IN FRONT OF THE THE HOME CROWD AND, IT WAS GREAT, GREAT IDEA. I HEARD ME A GREAT IDEA. AND WE WENT WITH IT. AND IT WAS IT WAS GREAT. GREAT RUN TO BY HIM. I MEAN THAT WAS, JUST TREMENDOUS. AND HE’S DONE IT WITH YOU KNOW, I THINK, YOU KNOW, NOT THAT MANY GAMES, RIGHT? I MEAN, COMPARED TO AND, TO TO BE IN THAT, I MEAN, YOU THINK ABOUT ALL THE CHARGER RECEIVERS AND ANTONIO GATES AND EVERYBODY IT’S JUST, YOU OW, BLESSED, BLESSED HE’S DONE A GREAT JOB AND JUST FEELS GREAT TO BE A PART OF IT. AND AGAIN, WON THE TURNOVER BATTLE THREE. 3-0 HOW BIG OF A FOCAL POINT WITH THAT GOING INTO TONIGHT. >> YEAH, THAT WAS HUGE. THAT WAS HUGE. THE YOU KNOW THE PLAY TURNOVER FREE. AND WE’VE REALLY BEEN REALLY BEEN FOCUSED ON THAT, REALLY BEEN STRIVING FOR THAT. AND THEN YOU KNOW, TO PULL THAT OFF WAS WAS GREAT. KIMANI VIDAL, YOU KNOW, GREAT JOB. JUSTIN HERBERT GREAT JOB. EVERYBODY TAKING CARE OF THE FOOTBALL. YOU KNOW, WE KNEW PITTSBURGH WAS ABOUT AS GOOD AS THEY AS THEY COME AND BALL DISRUPTION AND AND GETTING TURNOVERS. AND YEAH, WE KNEW CONTACT WAS GOING TO BE IMMINENT. AND OUR GUYS DID A GREAT JOB SECURING THE FOOTBALL. >> PHYSICAL TOUGH. HART GRIT. I LOVE THOSE KIND OF WINS. I THINK ABOUT HIM WINNING EVERYWHERE HE GOES. STANFORD. THEY GOT NO BUSINESS WINNING THAT MANY GAMES. SAN FRANCISCO, MICHIGAN, L.A. WITH THE CHARGERS, WITH HERBERT. THEY WEREN’T WINNING GAMES BEFORE HE GOT THERE. HOW DOES HE TURN THESE TEAMS INTO WINNERS. >> WITH JUST JUST WHAT YOU SAW RIGHT THERE? THAT’S THE PERSONALITY HE BRINGS. THAT’S THE MINDSET HE BRINGS. HIS DAD WAS LIKE THAT. HIS BROTHER’S LIKE THAT. AND BALTIMORE. BUT I THINK LISTENING TO THIS PRESS CONFERENCE, THAT’S WHY MIKE TOMLIN WAS SO UPSET IN HIS PRESS CONFERENCE, ALL THOSE THIN HE SAID IT WASN’T SCHEME, IT WASN’T FINESSE, IT WASN’T PLANNING. THIS WAS US JUST BEING TOUGHER THAN THEM. >> YEAH. AND TO ME, WHAT I, WHAT WHAT IT SEEMS TO ME IS THAT THE CHARGERS ARE TAKING ON THE PERSONALITY OF THEIR HEAD COACH. AND AND THAT’S WHAT I SEE. AND EVEN MORE SO THAN JUST THE CHARGERS. I SAY JUSTIN HERBERT BECAUSE HE’S SHOWN ME A LEVEL OF TOUGHNESS. JUST A LEVEL OF JUST LIKE HE TALKED ABOUT GRIT, HART, L THAT TYPE OF STUFF, MAN. AND THAT’S THAT’S BECAUSE OF HARBAUGH IS HERE. HE BROUGHT THAT HERE BECAUSE THE CHARGERS DIDN’T HAVE THAT BEFORE.

  1. Actually, the secret to Harbaugh's success is that he knows who the really good coaches are. He also knows who the good GMs and talent evaluators are. Staley had numerous deficiencies, but there was a lot that was Tom Telesco's fault – players who just did not work out. Joe Hortiz has had miracle drafts last year and this year. Players who are Pro Bowl calibre in the 5th and 6th rounds is not something you get often. It helps with team building and roster management and cap space management. Joe Hortiz has improved the caliber of the average Charger player. Their trades have mostly worked out. And he's got Jesse Minter, who's night and day better than most DCs in the league. He's been outstanding. Before Harbaugh, the Chargers D was so bad they routinely gave up 25+ points or more. Justin Herbert and the offense would be left on the sideline while the D couldn't stop the gamewinning drives of opponents. It's wrong to say the Chargers weren't winning games before Harbaugh came, they did enough to get to the playoffs twice in Staley's 4 years.

  2. As a life long Steelers fan, and one who respects Mike Tomlin, but the Steelers are not playing Steeler football, serious changes need to be made and if Tomlin is one of them, so be it…..The standard has not been the standard….

  3. Rodgers looks like an old man out there. He just can’t evade pressure like he used to. He felt that defense getting close all night.
