On tonight’s episode, final score, Houston Texans 36. Your Jacksonville Jaguars 29. Even Skorami couldn’t have drawn this one up. I put out the bat signal approximately 30 minutes ago regarding tonight’s episode, and you guys have already come out in droves. We’ve got about 20 some odd questions that have already been tweeted at us. I know there’s a bunch more coming in the YouTube chat, so keep them coming. Brent Martino will hopefully join us fresh off the plane towards the end of tonight’s hour-long therapy session. This is a safe space. Jaguars fans, let it out. We’re here to workshop where exactly the Big Cats go from here. [Music] It is club 9:04. It is 9:04 p.m. Actually 9:05 p.m. now on Sunday, November 9th. Your Jacksonville Jaguars are still, if the season ended today, in the seven hole. Would be in the postseason if the playoffs started on Monday, November 10th, or the week thereof. But unfortunately, that will do no solace and no good for Jaguars fans after statistically speaking the worst collapse in franchise history. Jacksonville led this game 29-10 with 12 minutes and change to go in the fourth quarter. And Davis Mills, who with just six career wins to his name, and this stat’s going to come up a time or two in tonight’s episode, six career wins to his name as a starter in the National Football League, three of them have now come against the Jacksonville Jaguars. and Sheldon Rankkins with the pick six for good measure to end this one as time expired. That is why it is the funky scoragami and that is why your big cats are now one and one against the Houston Texans. One and one in the division as well. Man, you guys got some comments coming in on Twitter as well. Jeremy’s getting after it. There is no safety here. Listen, we’re going to go position by position. Rest assured, folks. But I do want to begin with my three big takeaways. I know last week you guys were mad that there were good takeaways. There were bad takeaways. We’re just going to go overarching takeaways that go with everybody. But while I’m vent venting and ranting myself, let’s workshop this together. So, leave a comment, leave a question, we will interact, we will discuss, and like I said, I see everybody who already has lined up in the Twitter queue in terms of replying to my initial bat signal. And so, I will also get to your questions a little bit later in the program. But first, my three big takeaways in this one. I am going to get to Trevor Lawrence. He does shoulder some of the blame. He does not shoulder all of the blame. There’s some of you that are turning off your YouTube feed, your Twitter feed, your Twitch feed right now because how on earth is she not just putting all of this on 16? Well, my number one takeaway from this game is that the Houston Texans offense statistically one of the worst overall in the National Football League, but particularly in the red zone and on third down, 10 of 15 on third down, including five of eight in the fourth quarter. That has nothing to do with Trevor Lawrence, ladies and gentlemen. That is squarely on the shoulders of Anthony Campanelli and a defense that was charged with stopping what many believe to be a makeshift worst offensive line in football here on this the second Sunday in November. And they just couldn’t do it. Three red zone touchdowns for that putrid red zone offense for the Houston Texans. And what else needs to be said than those two facts? Yes, we’re going to dive into some more facts here, but I think that those two big numbers for me, the fact that this Houston Texans offense, cannot score in the red zone, cannot convert third downs for their life, and they were able to do both with ease against a Jaguars defense that, well, yes, created one takeaway on the defensive side of the ball, and then in special teams in that phase as well in the first half of the game for a second straight week, melted down in the second half. The Houston Texans, um, I just want to make sure I’m reading this right. Yeah. Um, they didn’t punt in the second half. They didn’t punt. They also ran the ball like crazy. And again, they did not have a healthy Nick Chub. They still do not have Joe Mixon. Uh, 130 total rushing yards. You could take out Davis Mills 20, including a 14- yard scramble for the what would prove to be the game winner. And so, that’s got you at 110. It’s not exactly going to get the job done. Woody Marks, 14 carries for 63 yards. Nick Chub, five carries for 47 yards. Again, this is a Houston Texans team that has struggled to run the ball, has struggled to do much on offense outside of CJ Strad, who by the way, again, did not play in this game. But for many of you, I know that the crux of the defensive struggles come from the inability to rush with four. This idea of you really can’t blame it all on Anthony Campanelli when you look at the personnel that he’s been given. And this idea of Josh Hines Allen being one of the highest paid edge rushers in the National Football League. Trayvon Walker, a former number one overall pick, albeit still playing with a little bit of a club hand, but he does have the use of his fingers. Also got called for one of the worst rushing roughing the passer calls you’re going to see in the National Football League this year. But I digress. Point is, there are questions about whether or not the Jaguars can generate any sort of pass rush unless they dial it up with blitzes coming from the back end, which when you’re down multiple players in your secondary, including players who could get after the quarterback, i.e. Eric Murray, i.e. Jordan Lewis, Travis Hunter. Now, it compounds one on top of the other. I think though that if we’re going to talk about the defense, my number one takeaway, my number one reason for this 36 to29 loss, we do need to begin by listening to the head coach of your Jacksonville Jaguars, Liam Cohen, when he was asked, “What happens if the Jaguars cannot get home with four for the duration of the 2025 season? Concerned are you going in these last games that it may not be fixable?” Yeah. Um that’s something we we definitely need to talk about as a staff and as a group that um hasn’t been good enough all season and wasn’t good enough today. So um you know there’s a combination. It’s never one group’s fault when you lose a game. That’s that’s not what we’re going to do here. But um it definitely is is a challenge for us at the moment. Liam Cohen did go on to say that he has the utmost faith in Anthony Campanelli. He said, “I’m on the headset. I’m hearing what he’s calling. I would have called similar plays.” That’s an indictment on the personnel. And I think that ultimately, and I’ve workshopped this on other podcasts as well and talked to you guys in the Mory NFL Notebook Discord chat, which if you’re not subscribed, you should be subscribed. Free 7-day trial is still available. This idea of James Gladstone, Liam Cohen, and Tony Belli took this job and they knew that they weren’t going to have a perfect roster in year one. But I think that maybe the first four or five weeks gave the Jaguars this idea of maybe we are a little ahead of schedule. Even if I think both Gladstone and Cohen have done a really good job of really tempering those expectations and not panicking than saying like okay like that we’re good to go and then all of a sudden you get bamboozled by the the Seahawks and the Rams and say oh no we have we haven’t arrived. I think they’ve done a really good job of keeping even keel, but I think today as Trayvon Walker told Brent Martino postgame, it certainly was a bit of a surprise. Couple questions right off the top before we get to my second takeaway, which yes, is Trevor Lawrence. So maybe Jeremy’s comment here is a good segue. We have to note early game the defense was on point. 16 did nothing to bury the Texans. 56 yards on offense up 17 to three is insane. Yeah. Okay. So let let’s talk about 16 because Trevor Lawrence is my number two takeaway. I am not making excuses for him because as good as the Texans were on third down, the Jaguars were equally as bad. Four of 11 on third down today. They rushed for 94 yards, but ultimately in my opinion, and this is where we’re going to get into my third takeaway, 58 yards on 16 carries for Travis ETN is not good enough. That falls on the play caller, which we’ll get to that here in a second. I think that this is an offense that many are optimistic and hoping still, which I think is kind of fool’s gold, that the quarterback will be the one who’s going to elevate them. That, to your point, is going to bury them. You don’t bury someone, Jeremy, with your passing game when your quarterback needs a solid run game to be operating at peak level. And so there’s many of you that say, “Well, then he’s not worth $55 million.” There’s nothing we could do about that. He’s being paid $55 million a year. Not this season. next season. File that one away. Liam Cohen said at halftime, his message to the team was that we need to squeeze the life out of them. You don’t squeeze the life out of someone by having your quarterback throw it all over the yard. You squeeze the life out of them by winning in the trenches, which the Jaguars offensive line was certainly getting bullied, especially in that second half against the number one defense in the league. And again, we’ll get to that here in a second. I think a lot of you would like the quarterback to be the one who asserts himself. I see it in the comments. I saw it in the Twitter questions. That’s just not who he is. He is not going to be this who screaming in your face guy. That’s not who he is. And so I’m not again he is he is culpable because 13 of 23 for what did he finish with? Oh, that’s that’s right. Um less than 200 yards, 158 total yards. That’s not going to get the job done in the National Football League. And some of that was situational because you had short fields to operate with on your first two drives. Parker Washington with a punt and return touchdown. Sure. But ultimately, yes, I I understand where you’re frustrated and I agree. I think you’d like to see more from the quarterback. But that’s why my third takeaway is that you cannot put all of this on 16, especially when, let’s pull right to the clip, folks. I mean, look at this. This is from Steven Ruiz of the Ringer. Trevor Lawrence after that moment when the Jaguars went up 29 to 10 at the end of the third quarter, dropped back six more times. So they did try to run the ball and they were unsuccessful. He was pressured 100% of the time for three sacks, two scrambles, was able to get out of the pocket. Probably could have done it a couple more times for 24 yards and one pass attempt that was batted down at the line of scrimmage. Like my friend Phil tweeted it out and I’m going to say it too. Uh you you could be Clark Kent, you could be Superman, and I don’t know what you do when you’re going up against Denil Hunter and what he was able to do on Sunday with three and a half sacks. Will Anderson with a sack, Henry Toatoa with a half sack. Trevor Lawrence for the entire game was dropped back 23 times and he was hit six times. That is a fourth of his drop backs in which he was physically hit, let alone pressured out of the pocket or assaulted in some shape or form. And so that’s where I know that there are those of you that want to turn this off and say, “Why is she defending 16 again?” Part of the issue is that you want 16 to be more than he is. And I agree that’s a problem that he’s not at that level. I agree. But we’re working with what we got here, folks. And what you got is a quarterback who needs to have a strong running game, needs to have an offensive line that can give him some semblance of protection. So at the very least, he can roll and throw on the run where he’s pretty damn good. or he can scramble out of the pocket, use his legs, although according to JJ Watt and Travis ETN allegedly, which I don’t buy that tra Trevor doesn’t want to use his legs. I didn’t really buy that on the broadcast. But point is is that Trevor Lawrence is the number two takeaway and the number two problem, but it’s because of his limitations. And you’re not going to fix those with a single game plan outside of let’s run the ball more. Let’s bring extra help. And they did. And against the number one defense in the National Football League, there was only so much you could do. Dell points out Hunter and Anderson were taking turns on Walker a little and it wasn’t just Walker by the way because Anton Harrison got baptized and the interior of the defensive line or the offensive line, excuse me, looked great in the early goings of this one before they too were absolutely gutted by this Houston pass rush. And so three biggest takeaways again I think that and Oh, thank you Clay. Oh my goodness. Thank you Clay. I I I can’t get to the recap of my three takeaways without getting to Yes. Juma Idogga destroyed on the sack fumble to end the game. Juma Idogga flagged for two penalties, which thank you for bringing that up because I did want to note that in my opening comments. The final drive of this game was a microcosm of who Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars are as of this writing through five years of his career as the starting quarterback. There were four plays with less than a minute, a little over a minute to go. And during that time in which clock management was questionable, you had two plays. The first was the Trevor sack. That that sack is on Trevor. Throw it away. You know better. You’re 26 years old. Throw the ball away. So that’s So that’s score one in the Trevor’s the problem department. Then Trevor is able to escape the pocket and run for 17 yards for a first down. That’s pretty good awareness. That’s Hey, listen. All right. This is He’s doing what he can to carry the team. On the next play, he absolutely lasers a throw. Layers it to Parker Washington. It’s a dime. It would be a first down if not for the aforementioned Chuma Idogga with his second penalty of the game that then brings the ball back and then we have the pick six pressure destroyed as time expires with 7 seconds left on the clock which at that point there are some of you yelling at your televisions just throw it away and let Cam Little attempt an 85 yard field goal which quite frankly I don’t blame you because he is going to get a game ball a little bit later in the program. So um to recap again I think that that kind of sums it up. 50% of the offensive struggles, yes, are because the quarterback is unable to elevate them. But the other 50% he’s trying to and he is just not getting support. And so we continue to see this clunky offense that as we discuss each and every Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday here on Club 904, we knew that there was always going to be a little bit of a curve because this is a new offense for Trevor Lawrence. It is basically an entirely new language for him. Let alone the fact that and I loved this from JJ Watt when they actually did Yeah, I did just say I love something from JJ Watt. You can yell at me in the comments. I loved when they broke down how Trevor used his eyes in order to throw Aziz Alshier off his mark and then he like gets stuck in no man’s land and Trevor is able to turn his body once more and hit Travis ETN in the flat for a really nice first down pickup. And so those are things that they’re little he was not doing that or at least when he did it he did not realize how nuanced that was and that there was intent behind it. And I know that’s very difficult for many of you to hear because he is 26 years old and this is his fifth year in the National Football League. But it’s the reality. We also live in a reality in which Daniel Jones and the Colts have eight wins. And Daniel Jones is this reclam reclamation project in the same ilk as Sam Darnold and the Seattle Seahawks who put up 38 points despite the fact that he turned the ball over three times. And that was before the game even ended. I didn’t even see the final score. You got Baker Mayfield who I know who lost today, but is out here as a top 10 quarterback in Tampatown. And so don’t write off 16 yet, but I do hear and trust me, old phone was lighting up this morning, this afternoon. lighten up people that you know they’re going to tell you that there’s there’s friction. There’s friction. Again, let’s go back to what I said earlier. Liam Cohen, James Gladstone, and Tony Belli did not take this job because they thought it would be easy. Urban Meyer took this job because he thought it would run itself. Doug Peterson thought that they got to a point where it was running itself and it was not. These three are not going to do that. And so I don’t know what the rest of the season holds, but I can tell you this, they did not take this job just because, oh, it’s we’re going to fix it in a in a couple weeks and it’s all going to run itself. That’s not the case here, folks. And so I say to you Jaguar fans, have you calmed down a little bit? Do you have more questions? Leave them in the comments. Leave them in the chat. We will come back. We’ll do an extensive live Q&A. Hopefully Brent Martino has gotten off the plane at this point. Not so sure yet, but if he hasn’t, that’s all right because I know we have a lot of questions to go around and we are going to hit them all here on a Sunday postgame edition of Club 904 syndicated on the Action Sports Jacks 247 channel. Over 900 of you watching live right now on the channels of the Action Sports Jacks 247 network. Appreciate you guys hanging out with us and of course continue to give us those questions, those comments. We’re going to work through this thing together, folks. Final score, Texans 36. Your Jacksonville Jaguars 29. Jacksonville now 5-4 on the season. They do hold the tiebreaker over the Kansas City Chiefs for the seventh spot in the AFC playoff picture. Lot of questions. A lot of you guys are in the chat right now. I’m going to try to hit as many as I can. Let’s start with Connor on Twitter. Gladstone not making a single move on the defensive line was insane. Connor, I say this with all due respect. It takes two to tango, brother man. I got calls two weeks before the deadline saying everyone wants a defensive tackle. I would also like to win the lottery. It’s just not going to happen because there’s about 8 billion other human beings on the earth or at least however many Americans are living in the continental United States right now who would also like to win the lottery and have played the lottery. And so that’s where I think we have to slow our role on that. And I can tell you that calls were made, but James Gladstone, as we talked about in the opening segment, is looking at this big picture. He’s not going to mortgage the future. And I know this is the same guy who traded multiple first round one first round pick and then the current first round pick from that draft for Travis Hunter. But as I’ve discussed on other shows, the reality is is you do that because Travis Hunter is a blue chip player. any interior defensive lineman the Jaguars were going to go get on the open market. Whether that was Zack Caler, Quinnon Williams notwithstanding, because the asking price was driven so high, he would be a blue chip player. But Zack Cer, KAS Campbell, none of those guys are in that blue chip stratosphere that the Jaguars are lacking players who are such true difference makers and on their own can be one of those guys like Travis Hunter can. So, you’re not going to give up multiple draft picks that quite frankly, and we’re going to get to this here in a second because Antoine asked a great question in the YouTube chat, you have so many holes you need to fill. You’re not going to stop filling those holes via the draft because you’re so fixated on, well, I need to fix it this year and right now. Let’s hit some of your YouTube questions because, man, there are quite a few of them. He I had to write all yours down um because you had a lot, brother, man, and I appreciate all of them. gutted by a team that wanted it more. Yes, I would agree with that. Where did the stunts and twists go? I will plug I’m also helping out on the Locked on Podcast Network these days. We did our Jaguar squad show immediately after the final whistle and Marcus Ogden, former Jaguar, did a great job of explaining where the stunts and twists were in the first half of this game and then it went vanilla in the fourth quarter. And so half that leads to your other comment about how the defense sold out and basically was playing to not lose in the fourth quarter. And that’s a question for Anthony Campanelli on Thursday when he meets with reporters because I do agree the stunts and the twist were working. They worked early on through the first five weeks of the season. Why are the Jaguars going vanilla? I don’t have the answer to that. Let’s keep it moving. Um from different Trevor stinks. Mia, if it walks like a duck, it is a duck. Um different, I ask you this. Who are you going to go get? Please, I I want to see your reply in the YouTube chat. Who are you going to go get with this current crop of college quarterbacks coming up with I don’t know who you think you’re going to trade for or sign in free agency and turn into like some of you guys are saying Russell Wilson. Okay, go ahead. Like see how that works out for you. How’d that work out for the Giants today? Like that’s the problem you find yourself in is you feel like you’re in this quarterback purgatory, but the reality is is at the very least you’re in the dance and you have a chance because you have a quarterback who at the very least when he’s at his floor is somewhere between the 15th and the 20th best quarterback in the National Football League. And I know Lil Man, I saw you. Oh, 79 QBR. That’s all. He dropped back 23 times, folks. That’s not just on him. That’s also on the play calling because the play calling they were trying to run the ball except when they ran the ball then they got penalized by self-inflicted wounds and then those calls got called back and then it also started happening in the passing game. Now you’re playing behind the sticks and now you’re asking Trevor to play hero ball and that’s just a recipe for disaster given the skill set. And so I say to you, who are you going to go get? Especially knowing again and we’re going to end this with Antoine’s big great comment. You have too many holes on this roster. What? like you’re going to give up massive capital and mortgage your future further to go get a quarterback outside of just building around him which this was always the plan all along was to build a cohesive roster. I continue. Duval T87 two yards in the last 15 minutes is unacceptable. Again, drop back six times. 100% pressure rate six times and I know they went three and out. They truly they truly were out here trying to run the ball and just weren’t able to run the ball. And so that’s where I look at it and I say some of it is on the play calling as much as it’s also on the quarterback. Um so so Mark, what is what’s massively incorrect? I enjoy being fact, you know, fact check me like I what did I say that it was incorrect. I just appreciate knowing that. All right, Mike Norvel and then Avery. Avery had a great comment actually. I want to get to Avery’s first. Um, hey Mia, good evening. You think Gadson breaks the record for receiving yards by a tight end in a game next week against the Jags or will we have to wait for Trey McBride in Arizona the following week? Dude, I said it on the postgame pod last week. They don’t know how to defend a tight end in the flat. I don’t know what it’s going to take. and subscribers to the O’Brien NFL notebook already know. Um I I I it shocks me too. It shocks me too. Um they did double Nico Collins, which at least that was, you know, a development because I I wasn’t so sure they were going to do that. Um so yeah, yeah, I I don’t know what it’s going to take. Uh maybe Godson at this point who may end up winning offensive rookie of the year. Although good to see a Mecha Ibuka back for the team down in Tampa Town, which you know they were still so disappointed after Liam left them. So happy they have something to cheer for since they were so sad for so long. Um Mike Norll, you had a great comment earlier. I’m trying to find it. Uh yes, the O line was thrown around like small children on three straight drives. I would agree with that. Here it is. Looking at some of these comments is disturbing. Finding a way to blame your quarterback for your defense giving up 20 points in the fourth quarter is wild. Yeah. And so the argument there is that well you know they can’t go three and out like that. Yeah. But your defense could also get a stop like two things can be true at once. I do agree that they shouldn’t have been going three and out but at the same time like you also got to get a stop. And that’s what Liam Cohen said postgame without trying to throw his defense under the bus. And so I think it’s just ultimately stuck between a rock and a hard place. And again it speaks to there are multiple holes on this roster. Um, all right. Some of the other questions on Twitter. Um, I never smart, you never answered, so I don’t know what you were trying to call me out on, but alas. Chris, how much more time do we give this below average quarterback? Chris, who are you going to go get? Please reply. Like, I’m I’m waiting for one of you guys to tell me. Like, I I I want to know like who is going to be your great answer to this? YouTube, have you guys come up with anybody yet? No. You’re talking about how Foyer got smoked on a crosser by Daltton Schultz and that was the biggest play of the game. Four defensive tackles are on the board and we have a safety out for the year. Okay. So, all right. So, that part I will give you guys when you look at the third round picks. And I know some of you are still upset that there’s no Wyatt Milm in the lineup right now. I I have no intel. I know he was limited on Thursday. He practiced on Friday. No injury designation. Don’t know the situation there. I was shocked as any of you to see Jonah Manheim go in at right when Patrick McCari got hurt in this game. he later came back into the game. I I don’t have the answer, but I agree. You couldn’t have predicted that Caleb Ransaw would have a list Frank injury or foot injury, whatever the extent of it is, just like you couldn’t have predicted Travis ETM when he was selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft. Someone who had zero injury history would then suffer that injury against the Saints in the preseason. So, I don’t fault the regime for that. You couldn’t have seen that coming. I also think the Travis Hunter injury, from all of my reporting and what I’ve been told, it was a freak injury. I know with the frame so many of you were already g saying it was bound to happen. I mean I again hindsight’s 2020. I do agree that they should have addressed the defensive line. I agree with that wholeheartedly. I I agree with that wholeheartedly. But ultimately yeah uh there we go. Thank you Greg for giving me a name. Thank you Steey for giving me a name. Greg says you should trade for Davis Mills. Okay, there we go. Just have John Shipley watch every game. Insiders, you know what I mean when I say that. John Shipley loves Davis Mills. He doesn’t he hates Davis Mills. thinks he’s awful. Um, but he always wins against the Jaguars again. Six career wins. Oh, you know what? Let’s pull up uh Shipley’s tweet because I have it ready. Let’s pull it up. There it is. There it is. For those of you who missed it at the top of the show. There it is. So, yep. Nothing else needs to be said. Davis Mills is six and 19 as a starter and three of those wins are against your Jacksonville Jaguars. Kyler Murray’s name was also thrown out in the chat. Um, what what is Kyler Murray going to do outside of runaround in the pocket? And yes, he has a little jumbo pack. You know, he can fire the ball downfield, but he also can’t see over the offensive line. So, like Chris, okay, thanks for following up. We can’t get anyone now. The trade deadline is now gone. As you’ve stated, we’re in year five, end of the season. He should be gone. Well, he’s not going to be gone. Sorry. Because he’s not going to be gone. They can’t get rid of that contract, dude. They’re at least gonna have one more season with Trevor Lawrence at the very least. And it’s gonna be more. For those of you who may be new to the program, my favorite analogy that I like to give on this here show is the idea of Kyle Shanahan comes to Atlanta at that point in time in 2016. Matt Ryan and the Falcons had been to an AFC or excuse me, NFC title game. This was back before the Falcons became what we now know as the Falcons. And so he had some street cred. He had pelts on the wall. And Kyle Shanahan comes in and says, “I’m changing your footwork. I’m changing this. I’m changing that.” lot of butting of heads having to learn the new language. They go eight nine and one in year one. The second year they go to the Super Bowl. The difference is they had Julio Jones. People in Jacksonville thought they had Julio Jones, folks, because that’s what they thought Brian Thomas Jr. was. And that’s part of why they took the job. And he showed a little bit of flash of it last week in Vegas. You got Travis Hunter. So, I mean, it’s not to say again, this you have to look at this is they are not just trying to win this year. And I think that that is something and I was texting with a league source earlier about this. Like there is this idea of well, you know, like Doug was able to go to the playoffs year one and it was great and it was fixed. No, I I feel like if anything, this team going to the playoffs this year is going to give you all this false hope, let alone give the front office this false hope that everything is fine and dandy and it’s not. Oh, thank you Samar for finally getting back to me. Mia, not sure if you answered this already. Oh, my stream’s cutting out. Do you think that consistency at offensive line would be why Trev’s play is inconsistent? Yeah, it’s certainly a piece of it. I mean, I think that offensive line, if you pulled all 32 teams, coaching staffs and executives, they would tell you the odds and the number of times in their careers that they’ve actually seen the same starting five end as the same starting five week 18 are few and far between. So, you have to be able to adjust when there’s different offensive linemen coming in and out of the lineup. I think more so it’s about balancing the rush, the pass, the playbook in itself. And more than anything, it’s those self-inflicted wounds. Again, let’s go back to it, folks. That final drive was the microcosm of Trevor Lawrence’s career because you had Trevor’s self-inflicted wounds of taking a sack and then the weirdass pick six at the end. But then on the flip side, you have Trevor escaping the pocket. You have him finding his way to a first down. Then you’ve got him hitting Parker Washington for an absolute laser. and then it gets called back because of a penalty. And so that like that is the Jaguars right now. It’s two steps forward, one step back. And so that’s where I think it’s it’s still a work in progress. And that’s okay because this is a front office that knew that they would have to be calloused and face that adversity head on. They’ve been very open with you guys about that. So I’m I’m very I I I think that a lot of people just need to just take a step back. That’s why when I put out the bat signal at 8:33 or whatever it was, I said, “Everybody, let let’s let’s talk about this together. Calm, cool, collected, and look ahead to that Chargers game like my friend Avery, who is already bracing for the Gadston career year, which I agree is a problem.” All right, Jack, here’s another good question. Where has the pass blocking from weeks one to three gone? How are they going to get it back? Great question. I think that that is a like that that for me is what’s surprising is I don’t know where the pass blocking has gone outside of they were going up against I don’t want to say the Panthers are one of the worst defenses in the National Football League because they did hold the Packers to 10 points last week. Um the Bengals certainly the Texans, we’ve already illustrated it that was an offense that was one of the worst coming into today, but then Davis Mills takes center stage and all of a sudden they’re, you know, the greatest show on turf. And so I do think that that’s going to be a big chicken or the egg. Was it the level of the competition they were playing or was it actually something that was discovered during training camp and this idea of maybe they’re getting away from it a little bit too much. So Mark, by consistency, I don’t mean people. I mean more of just level of play. I feel like the drop off in our depth around the team is just so significant. Good place for us to take our next timeout at. We have to remember you all want to talk about Walker Little. We’ll get to Walker Little here in a second. Fine. We have to remember that this team was without arguably three starters in the secondary. Like them or not. Eric Mury, Jordan Lewis were signed to raise the floor. They are your veteran leaders in the secondary. Neither of them are playing. you’re without Travis Hunter, who I know is not exactly the, you know, starter on defense that many believe him to be, but in theory, he is one of your better defensive players when he is available on the defensive side of the ball. You couple that with you don’t have your number one or number two passcatching tight ends. Shout out to Johnny Munt, though. Johnny Munt had a nice grab today. Johnny Munt did something on the offensive side of the ball. We love to see it outside of pass blocking. He’s pretty good at that. Otherwise, he’s drawing penalties. Um, you are without Brian Thomas Jr., You are uh Dami Brown was getting cardio out there. Shout out to Dami. Zero catches on zero targets after going through the concussion protocol this week. Not what you want. Is that play calling? Is that the player? Is that Trevor Lawrence? I don’t know. File that one away. And then you were without Ezra Cleveland, who through the first four or five weeks of the season, many of you believed was one of your best offensive linemen. And so Cole Van Lannon, great sixth offensive lineman, eligible tackle, great super sub. I think he got worked a little bit today and I think a lot of you would agree with me. Um, listen Z on the on the chat. You’re like worried that I’m not listening to you. My name my Twitter name is Yeah, I guess we could say ask. This is YouTube. Um, yes, I’m I’m going to put your Here you go. I’m going to put your question up because I know you were worried I wasn’t I was ignoring you. We got a lot of questions coming in. Over,200 of you are hanging out live. Z uh hopefully this isn’t Zay Jones. Prayers up by the way. He suffered an Achilles injury today. I was looking forward to seeing him in Arizona. My name is asked on my Twitter account because my team stresses me out. What do you think about these route combinations? I r rarely see guys open ever and then Trevor holds on to the ball too long. Trevor does hold on to the ball too long. Yes, I’m excited to see the time to throw according to NextGen stats once it comes out if it hasn’t already because I do think he’s been holding on to the ball more because he has rediscovered the use of his legs. And so I think he believes, okay, I can escape the pocket as opposed to trying to find rhythm in my progressions and get the ball out quickly. So that’s also something that I think needs to be evaluated to the route combinations. I think a big reason why it felt like guys weren’t getting open is because you had Austin Traml and Tim Jones running routes and Tim Patrick who missed last week with an injury and Johnny Mut and Quinton Morris were your two tight ends and Parker Washington was your most explosive option in the receiving game. And that’s no knock on Parker. It’s just this outside of Jacobe Meyers. Shout out the A Jacobe. Jacobe was great. He was your leading receiver, by the way, in case you missed that. In terms of yards with 41 yards on three catches, was also robbed of a touchdown. So, Parker Washington’s your most explosive threat in terms of being able to play the slot and the outside and get downfield. And if that’s the state of the offense, it’s not great. Walker Little, I think that once they actually show some of the PFF grades, there was one sack that I think was initially credited to him, it won’t be. You saw Will Anderson and Denil Hunter switching spots on him. I know all of you want to write him off. certain former coworker wants them wants him benched just like Trevor Lawrence. I say who are you going to play at left tackle? You going to move Anton over there? Okay. Well, now you’ve created a hole at right tackle. Who you going to play at right tackle? Walk Wyatt Milm played left tackle in college. He backed up Walker Little during camp at left tackle. You’re going to create another hole. Have fun with that. We have to take a break. Brent Martin will join us on the other side. There are over almost 1300 of you hanging out with us now. Appreciate you all hanging with us. We got one more segment to go. Brent Martino is going to come join the club and we are going to end it on a high note here on Action Sports Jacks 247. [Music] Welcome inside the Armor Guard exterior and gutter helmet showroom. I I think that this means we’ve made it when I’m getting replies that says, “Damn, she didn’t read my comment. You guys are awesome. I know it’s a tough day after the Houston Texans come all the way back to beat your Jacksonville Jaguars 36-29.” And it’s why Brent Martino driving back from the airport from having covered this game in Houston joins us now live. Brent, can you hear us? Yeah, I can hear you. Another uh disaster in Houston for the Jacksonville Jaguars. That place is a house of horrors over the years. And uh so are the Texans. And we got another one to add to the list. Maybe the worst of them all. Maybe the worst of them all, Brent. And that’s why I wanted to make sure we got you in for a little bit on tonight’s episode, even if it wasn’t without video, because, you know, we are focused on driving and not trying to do multiple things at once. But audio, we can make the Bluetooth Bluetooth, excuse me, work just fine. A lot of questions from the nearly,300 folks who are watching live and interacting with us. Wait till you see the comments and the questions. Brent, um, let’s start with Samar’s question just because it feels like a good place to start. How would you describe the locker room post loss? Especially given those comments from Trayvon Walker that I feel like went viral for kind of no reason of he said he wasn’t, you know, he was they were shocked but he wasn’t mad. Yeah, I think shocked is a good one. I think uh Liam Cohen even acknowledged that which coaches don’t usually acknowledge uh that they were a bit shell shocked. Trevor did the same thing and it was it was a very quiet locker room. As I was standing in there, I was trying to think of the last time it felt like that and and be realistic about it. I because not every locker room feels like that. And I think the Miami game might have early last year because how things change so quick, but it was the first game of the year, so I don’t really think it felt that bad. Um, and then you’ve had some games at the end of 2023 where was just like stunned that they couldn’t stop it. that game in the fourth quarter kind of felt like 2023’s last month where they just could not stop the bleeding. You know, they could not get the play that would change it or make a play that would just stop the momentum. And uh damn, the damn open and they couldn’t shut it. And uh yeah, so the locker room was pretty I mean it was pretty down. It was as down as I’ve seen in quite some time, I guess, is what I’m trying to say. Brent, what do you think? We’re going to couple a couple questions together. What do you think is a bigger concern right now? The Jaguars pass rush or the offensive line? O question. Uh, I think it’s the pass rush because I noticed this a few weeks ago. Go back to London. I know you have Matthew Stafford, but London was a rainy game and it could have been played in a bunch of different ways and you know, they were coming over there on short rest and they didn’t even try to run the football in the rain. And I know they have Matthew Stafford. I get it. But they didn’t have Puk and Aua. So you thought they would just try to run it a little bit. They never did. They just threw the football and they threw it with ease and then they ran it. They basically took a knee in the second half. And then you go back to last week and Gino Smith is throwing it all over the yard on it. They weren’t trying to run that much with Ashton Jenty. They used him more in the passing game. I think teams have targeted the Jaguars passing game. They’re not concerned about the pass rush. You’re not concerned about the secondary specifically with the way it’s beat up right now. And then you got the fourth quarter today with Davis Mills. So, I mean, Justin Herbert’s going to throw it 50 times if he has to next week. Uh, but to be honest with you, it can’t look much worse than it did in the fourth quarter. I got I mean, you only get so many possessions and they chewed up everything in that fourth quarter. So, that’s about as bad as you can look. I’m more concerned with that. And the reason why I’m more concerned with that is because I do think you actually could try some things on the offensive line. Wyatt Milm has yet to play. You could try to bring him in. You could try to bring Mannheim in at a more consistent role if Mari’s not getting it done. He’s also banged up. Anton Harrison very banged up after this game. Both of those guys uh you know had to go see the doctors a bit after uh that one. And we’ll see what it looks like this week. And then Walker Little like what do you do? So I think you have a couple of options with the depth on offensive line depending the health of Ezra Cleveland as well because not sure looked good too good either today. So, I think I’m gonna lean toward the pass rush because uh the Jags aren’t good enough on offense to go score 30 a game. And I also think that this offensive line was going, and again, I’m not trying to make an excuse, Brent, as I keep stressing, but of course, the folks in the comments probably disagree. This is the number one defense in the National Football League. And if Will Anderson and Denil Hunter aren’t the best pass rushing duo in the National Football League, they’re in the top three. And so, that’s where I don’t want to make excuses for the offensive line because it wasn’t good enough. But to your point, if Anton Harrison is hurt, if Patrick McCari’s banged up, Ezra Cleveland missed this game. I mean, you can’t move Walker Little like some have suggested, who are you going to play? Like, I you can’t be switching willy-nilly this offensive line, can you not? Yeah. I just think they could try something though. They could put Milm in for McCarthy, let’s say. Uh they could put Milm in for Walker Little, maybe it is, or whatever. They could try stuff. If you if you don’t like what you see, you could absolutely try stuff. I think there are options there. There are no options at the pass rush. You just got to get more out of those guys and figure it out. And Josh has to play better. Trayvon has to play better. Eric Armstead, I know he got a sack, but he’s going to play more consistent. He flashed like on two plays, but that was it. Uh shoot, I thought Danny Stri was playing pretty well for a little bit there in the first half. So, yeah, I think uh listen, the reality is you’re not wrong. And and everybody I can I can get there. I understand why fans are so frustrated today. They should be. They should be really mad and pissed off, but nobody wants to look at that part. We knew this game was going to be clunky on offense, even if it was good on offense. That’s how good Houston’s defense is. They’re the best in the league. And the best in the league, you don’t score. You don’t move the ball up and down the field. I actually thought overall the Jags took advantage of their opportunities and scored. Those third quarter drives were really good because there was a momentum change that could have happened. They got a field goal and a touchdown and then they could do nothing in the fourth quarter. But I mean I I I can’t come with people on the offensive side of this today. I You’re up 29 to 10 in the NFL. I mean, make a freaking stop. Like that’s it. Like that’s it. That’s the end of the story. 29 to 10 against Davis Mills and a bad offense. That’s that’s it. Like it stops right there. We can talk about the offense another day. This is all on the defense. I I’m right there with you, Brent. My three takeaways to open the program. Number one, it was the defense in terms of culprits for this game. Number two, to the Trevor Lawrence of it all. Yes, he is a symptom of the problem. I don’t think he is the problem. Or maybe he is a problem, but not the problem. And then number three takeaway being you can’t fault him when he hits Parker Washington on a dime for what would have set up the game-winning field goal for Cam Little and Chuma Idogga who I don’t know what how many snaps he played in this game, but he has his second penalty of the night and so or of the day. And so yeah, that we will put the offense off to the side perhaps for Brent and Austin tomorrow, Monday through Friday, 10 am to 1 pm here on the Action Sports Jacks 247 channel because we know the Civil War will rage on. So let’s focus on the defense. Another one from Samar. That’s a good one. Um, what do you make of Campanelli’s scheme? I feel like the soft zone he calls is getting super old going all the way back to the Niners game. Yeah, I I’m gonna go with Liam here. I’m not I don’t try to make myself out to be a guru on X’s and O’s, but Liam Cohen basically said it on the podium. He said if you can’t get I mean he was listening to the calls said I thought the calls were pretty good but we just basically don’t have guys making plays. I mean he tried his own zone. He tried you know blitzing. He tried fourman rush. Like this has been the last three weeks. This is my point. Last week against the Raiders they mixed it all up. They tried zone. They tried man. They tried fourman. They tried five rushing five rushing six. They got Deon Lloyd back today. It still didn’t matter. Uh because I at the end of the day, you you it’s hard to do that for three straight downs if you’re not getting home at all. Early in the game, I thought they did get some pressure. And whether it was manufactured or not, they still got it. And then uh heck, they actually got pressure on the touchdown run. They just let him get through and he escaped. And then then you’re kind of screwed on the 14 yard run with everybody’s back turns trying to cover. So yeah, I I uh I don’t think it’s a Campanale thing right now. I think he’s a little bit handicapped. And I will tell you this, I was thinking about this on the plane ride home with Jordan Lewis out and Eric Murray out. This is exactly the same football team that was dead last in the NFL last year. I mean, it’s exactly the same team. And by the way, those guys were making a difference. Like Jordan Lewis and Eric Murray were making a difference. And then you add in Travis Hunter who could make a difference. And then you also get like an elevated play out of Devin Lloyd. He just comes back today. So I mean it’s the exact defense and it looked like the exact defense from a year ago quite frankly. It’s great, great call, Brent. By the way, uh Timmy Devil is just very angry with you on the YouTube chat. Easy to say make a stop, Brent. When did they get a chance to take a breath? How dare you, Brent Martino? You got to let him take a breath. Come on now. I don’t know. I last I checked kind of like they get paid to catch the ball. You get paid to stop the quarterback, right? Yeah, I get where you can get tired and everything, but I mean there was uh I think the second touchdown it was a sixplay drive like boom boom boom, right? You you got to make them work. You got I mean listen, how about this? The end of the game, they got the ball back with like seven and a half minutes to go and they essentially said, “We’re going to run the football and we’re going to turn this into our last drive hopefully of the game.” And it worked. Like if they go three and out or even get a first down or two and then go three and out, I mean not then three and out but then get off the field. They only had one timeout like it was a 93 yard drive to Jake Browning and now Davis Mills this defense has led up and u you know they almost got him off the field right away. It was a third and 10 and Schultz makes a good play for 20 yards and and and we know how it ends. So yeah, I don’t think he can find I can’t find excuses for this Jags defense. I really can’t. And you can’t give up 200 yards in the final 16 minutes of the game to the Houston Texans to probably anybody but to the Houston Texans and Davis Mills. Not a lot of good to be had in this 36-29 loss to Houston. But Brent, we do have to h hand out some game balls. have we have forgotten to uh hand out some balls and even in a loss. I do want to give Parker Washington some flowers because two touchdowns the second Jaguar I believe all time to have both a punt return touchdown and a receiving touchdown in the same game. And by the way Jacob Myers three catches on three targets and two of those required him to make contested catches. One of them his eyes closed partially. Wanted to shout out those two guys. Cam Little as well. Anyone else Brent who you want to make sure we give some love to before we get out of here? Well, crazy enough, I thought Cam Little was really good again. I think he continued his momentum and wouldn’t it have been nice to see what a 63 yard or whatever it would have been would have looked like at the end of the game. Uh, I also think like listen, I had a list of guys I was going to talk to because I thought the story was guys stepping up. Jarian Jones, Traml continues to make a play or two, although it would have been a nice catch if he could have caught that one on like third and 20 to get into field goal range earlier in the game. And then uh I mean Stringal, I mentioned that Ventro Miller and Stringal on the special team play. So they had some guys stepping up and then they had nobody step up in the last 16 minutes of the game. Uh Steey wants to know, do you still want to pay Trayvon? Uh yeah. Yeah. This isn’t like one game actually. I mean Trayvon had a couple of big bursts in the game. One he he couldn’t get him uh Davis Mills down. The other one it was a bad call. everybody thinks and on the sack. So, yeah, like here’s the the one thing. This will be a theme for me probably this week because I know uh the bullets are going to fly, but like you can’t fix everything. And Trayvon Walker, guys like that are good players. You don’t have enough of the good players and you really don’t have enough great players. So, I mean, if you want to tear it all down, well, it’s going to take you three years to build it back up. So that’s that’s not the shape the Jags are in. Yeah, I would pay the 24 year old guy that I think is still an ascending football player. Uh wish he didn’t get hurt the last month. I think he would on the way to a really really good season. And that’s been the theme of tonight’s Club 904 post game, Brent. This idea of while it stings, and it should sting for both the Jaguars and you the fans, ultimately this is a long-term build. We are in the midst of it and it’s okay to say, “Hey, it may not look great today, but we need to keep that bigger picture in mind.” Brent, let the folks know where can they catch you this week. What do we have cooking at Action Sports Jacks? Well, that’s some reports and all the reaction from the locker room coming up here in just a bit. 10:30 on Fox 30, 11:30 on CBS 47. And then back at it tomorrow, 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Get ready. I hope you’re not as angry in the morning. Or maybe I hope you do. You are. Uh, but uh we’ll be ready for it. Hey. Hey, listen Brent. I didn’t think they’d still be this angry at 910 o’clock at night and on the east coast they are. They are. I get it. So, all right, Brent. We appreciate you hopping in Club 904. We’re going to close the club, but appreciate you hopping in as always. All right, have a good night. There he goes. And of course, you can catch him and Austin Lane 10:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. here on the Action Sports Jacks 247 channel. The show goes on, the conversation goes on. I know you guys still have lots lots of questions, lots of takes that are going to percolate through the night and into the morning. And that is why it is a 247 channel that we are syndicated on. DJ Dell, bring us home. We haven’t won a Jags game since Brent dressed up like Dan Hickin. File that one away. Do we need Dan to dress up like Brent? Is that the inverse? I don’t know. I think it’s time for bed. I think we all got to just take a deep breath, head to sleep. We appreciate you hanging out on the Action Sports Jacks 247 channel. Club 904. Final score, Houston Texans 36, the Jaguars 29. Jacksonville gets the Los Angeles Chargers this week and we will be back on Tuesday at 1 PM as well as Thursday at 1 PM to get you set to get you ready and set for that matchup. Until then,

Lawrence is a massive problem but the shills will not call it out. A turnover machine and coach Killer. No matter how much you polish a turd its still a turd. Tired of the excuses for him year after year
I think next season will be trevor last year here if he doesn't play way better, I think they will figure out how to trade him. And walker little is one of the worse olinemen on this team. And our pass rush is ghost we need help bad especially at DE
We had 11 yards in the 4th quarter that's just unacceptable
What blew my mind wasn't that Houston came back and won. It was that Jacksonville fans believed the Jags would win in Houston when they are missing half their O line and starting QB.
Jags were spotted 10 points out the gate on 2 blvery ugly turnovers. The score was 10-0 and the Jags only had 34 yards. Statistically the Jags were out played in both halves but the turnovers hid it in the scoring. The Jags were barely moving the rock
Baker for Trevor
I hate this show
Every time I see her face on anything I hear her voice I dislike the video 👎🏾
Inexcusable loss with that lead, but if they find a way to win next week that's something to build from. Pass rush and O-line need to be addressed this week, the secondary is what it is and Strange should help the offense catching and blocking given he's back.
This is the first year that Trevor is actually being developed and coached.
This fan base is probably one of the most toxic fan bases in the league. It has become insufferable.
Thing is if the secondary is 100% the defense plays ok even without pressure. We have had so many injuries in places we are so thin at. #1 safety that’s twice as good as anyone else back there gone to IR. 1b corner (+ 1b WR) gone to IR. 1a CB Lewis out. 3 key pieces of that secondary. I guarantee we don’t give up 3 straight TD drives with those guys in the game. It doesn’t happen.
Then get to offense… 1a and 1b WRs out. 1 and 2 TE out. OL is a revolving door of injuries.
I believe you are sticking up for 16 bc you bring up how much he was sack….he is holding on to the ball to long and if you know they are one of the best pass rushing teams…then call plays that are more shorter….
