Mike Brown on importance of consistency after Knicks’ fourth straight win
Did a really good job in the
second half, you know, Michael Porter. Junior
is a really good basketball player and he had 22 at halftime and,
you know, we addressed it and I thought our team led by oh gee coz that
was his matchup. They do a good job coming out,
trying to be more conscious and aware of where he was on the
floor. And he ended up with. I think three
points in the second half. Also something else. We
addressed, we dressed their offensive rebounding. They had
ten offensive rebounds at halftime and they got long athletes. That crashed the
glass claxton’s Clacks and Clowney, they’re
terrific on the glass and and sharp is terrific on the
glass as well. And So our guys did a nice job
coming out and and keeping them off the glass. You know, we didn’t feel we played great defense in the first half
especially with them scoring 40 points in the second quarter and and our guys did a great job of
tightening it up. You know, they scored a total of 36 points
in the second half and that was a great, great
awareness with with all of our guys
defensively, you know, our level of awareness picked up our
level physicality picked. There’s well, you know, we had three
verticality, he’s which is huge for us. I think
that’s the highest number. We had OG had a big one in the
third quarter for us and we had 12 deflections in the second
half. So that tells you right then and there that are Level physicality awareness, all that other stuff was there for us and it
translated into what they scored and what they
shot from the floor and then on top of that, you
know, we end up with 48 baskets. It’s and and 38
assists on those 48 baskets. And, you know, we always talk all
fensively, a touch the paint and spray it
touch the paint sprayer. We ended up with 18 sprays which
isn’t bad. Felt we could have probably had more and and then 15 offensive
rebounds, you know, we had 15 offensive rebounds for 25 Second
Chance points. And, you know, both those areas, we’re big Believers in and our
guys went out and got it, done Mitch, by the way, was the defensive player of the game again. You know, I don’t really fall into the plus/minus stuff a
ton but you know another amazing stat.
You know he keeps throwing up these stats that are made. He
played 16 and a half minutes and he was a plus 40. You know
it’s impact the game that way. And again not a huge believer in it
but to see a number like that in the
short amount of time that he played some just amazing Where can you go and pick about this team
leaving them before? You think quarters ain’t got that six now
periods of the next best thing. Yeah it is but we’re still
learning. I truly believed we could be still play better. We can
still mix it up. And you know what? We have to
get cautious of is, is not settling. You know, we’re moving a lot of Bodies around and we want to
keep moving bodies around and make it hard on the defense. And and if we do and it becomes just second
nature to us, then we’ll have a chance to be a pretty good
offensive team. He’s one of the best finishers
I’ve been round, he’s extremely creative, but if he draws a second
Defender, then you’ve done your job. Draw.
Second Defender. Somebody is open and you know, I think
the only ended up with two assists tonight. I’d have to go back and watch
and watch the game to really have a good feeling but I
thought he made pretty good decisions with it. And more
importantly is we want to keep trying to
move him around. So the team’s can’t just sit on
him at the top of the floor and if we can do that, then I think eventually the game is
going to be a lot easier for him because he’s going to be in. In places where teams aren’t
used to doubling because one time he’s here now he’s there
now he’s here and so that’s what we plan on doing with them
and and he’s getting a little bit more comfortable every time
we step on the floor. Yeah, you know, I said this
before, you know, we lost three in a row and in a lot of people thought the
world was for the sky was falling. But, you know, we had been together
long, you know, I, I’ll be the first to admit. I didn’t know when to put Josh
and when to take them out, I didn’t know when to put
Mitchell, When to take them out at, you
know, I was still figuring out, you know, our rotations, and how
we’re going to play and all that other stuff. And so, we
just need time and you know, I again I thought I was bad and we were bad as a
team in Miami. We went to I think Milwaukee
necks and thought we were pretty good in
the first half, you know, we kind of fell apart a little bit in the
second half and then we go to Chicago and not as good the first half, but
we were pretty good in the second half. So again it’s not going to have one
night. We may go on another three-game losing streak, you
know, we made you know mess up in the third
quarter, who knows we, if you want to be great life you
gotta find a way to get consistent be consistent. It’s
this a biggest thing and that’s what we’re preaching and talking
about and all we did was just a dress, our third quarters. Hey, whatever we got to do to come out, be locked in. Let’s
Do it but you know, ties our strength
coach, he’s not stretching them any longer or whatever. Would
just our guys going out and they’re just playing and they’re
locked in. Chances are pretty good
offensive team. Yeah, last game this game is at least a chance because
it’s got to be consistent now. Yeah. But so we’re talented
and we’re going to have no matter what we do on the
floor we’re going to have the ability to score but you know, you take the regular
season and you prepare yourself for the postseason. And if you just Go out there and play the wrong
way and when we still probably going to score
because we’re talented, got a lot of guys that can score
but it’s not going to help us later on. And there are things that we
have to continue to try to get better at in terms of our recognition and
stuff like that out on the floor and our paste, get the
ball, inbounds on a make, you know, not walking the ball up,
getting right to our stuff. If they take this away, bam, we got
counters, go to counter, you know, There are a lot of
little things that you know, it’s hard to explain, you know,
to you guys to a certain degree but our guys know it will show it to them.
And so I do think we can be
better and you know that’s what we
should all be striving for is to be better and there’s still a lot of room for
us to grow. Yes, basketball game, 48
minutes, anything can happen, you know? And you give them
credit, they knock down threes, they play with Pace, especially in a half court and
they offensive Rebound in. You know, we didn’t do as good
of a job defensively as we were capable of and our guys changed it in the second half. But it’s been pretty good for
not being together and this the first time being together,
but I shy quality, has been pretty good. We had two
games, I can two or three games, I can’t remember the
games where it was at, Especially from the three-point
line, you know. We go great, we grade
each three green, yellow, red, and I talked about it before,
like, we had two or three games in a row, that is unbelievable. I hadn’t seen anything like it. You know, we were little bit,
nor more normal. I think the game before two games
before, it’d be interesting to
see how we were tonight. I thought was
pretty good, but we have to keep focusing on
it because when we do touch that paint and
we move the basketball, and we get shots with our feet
set. We’re pretty good from behind the arc.
Mike Brown speaks about the Knicks’ 134-98 win over the Nets, Mitchell Robinson’s impact on both ends of the court, and the team needing time to continue to gel.

Love Coach Brown!
Coach Brown, has elevated everyone's game. The Knicks look good!
Getting rid of Tibbs was the best thing to ever happen for us, never was going to win a championship with the guy but I definitely feel like we can win one with Mike Brown!
Wow who knew it was possible for a Knick coach to be able to sit an articulate the game to the media with such poise and clarity…
Please get a mic for the questions
Turns out we have a lot of dudes who can shoot. Who could have imagined …
That's the difference right there! He said we trying to win the right way. It will help us prepare when we go into the playoffs. Thibs coached every game like it's game 7. Brunson was worn out. The iso hero ball, not relying on your bench. Mb seems to have a purpose and speaks on things very clearly which gives me confidence.
Coach brown wish he had this team in Sacramento. Our guys not playing 40 min is so refreshing.
great game, but we should blow out this team… they are at the bottom!
That is my mf coach!!!
And they was worried the starters wouldn't fit with Mike Brown's system… Mitchell Robinson was a +40 🤣🤣🤣
I’m a Thibs guy but Coach Brown has won my fandom over with these good answers / even when we loss I’m pretty confident he will tell us the reason and how we will overcome it
Just based alone on personality, Brown any day over Thibs.
Best stat of the night—everyone played less than 30 minutes. Go Knicks!!
I love this team
