Ruben Niebla, Joe Musgrove Jason Adam and Yuki Matsui here at Petco for Craig Stammen press conference – Sanders
Putting on a button up jersey like it’s a t-shirt. Should we have concerns?
Please clap
Honestly, I feel like this press conference did more to worry me about this choice than to reassure me. Like he’s a great guy, that’s pretty obvious, but we need a Great manager, not a great guy right now.
Edit: Not a popular opinion it seems… but Id love to be proven wrong by Stammen. I won’t fully judge till he manages a game.
That was a weird way to put on an open buttoned shirt
awkward silence
I have a feeling maybe that long conversation with Albert, could be trying to see how he can fit in as maybe a hitting coach ? Brining in yaddy as a special assistant? Idk 🤷🏽♂️ could hope for that outcome
You know, true Padres fans get upset with how their new manager who has a great rapport with the team and coaches puts on a shirt in a non conventional way.
Jfc
I’ve stood next to Craig Stammen and the guy is an absolute unit.
Oh I thing stammen has the club house, Joe said this is a great pick.
here for the overreaction
Manager slot doesn’t mean anything. This team lives and dies with the emotional roller coasters at 3rd base and right field.
I actually played golf with Craig Stammen! It was part of the “favorite things” charity deal the Padres did in 2019. Craig donated his time and a round a golf to the highest bidder and I won. So Craig, myself and a buddy of my choosing played a round at San Diego Country Club.
They couldn’t have him put the jersey on before everyone came out to avoid 20 seconds of awkward jersey dressing?
i’m of course looking way too much into this but very interesting he’s taking 14 and not the 34 he wore while he was here, leaving it open for King
As if Stammen was some vaunted free agent or coveted candidate.
Just start the presser with it on.
Let’s see how things go. There isn’t much runway for him. The expectations are clear. Even the lowest of bars is nabbing a WC slot and not getting run in 3 games on the road.
Meanwhile the team has a bunch of holes to fill if they are serious about contending.
It’s a huge off-season for our Padres.
Changed his number from 34 to 14 maybe King is sticking around?
I was there when he gave up back to back to back to back homers against the Nats. Legend.
