  2. That’s our Hall of Famer!

    He’ll be moving up the leaderboard some more. It’s interesting that when you compare him to contemporary 3B’s, there is a pack of 4 that are really close together – that’s Ramirez, Arenado, Machado, and Longoria. In fact Nolan and Jose are almost dead ringers for each other in WAR, WAR7, and JAWS listed on BBRef, the difference being Nolan is incredibly elite with the glove and Jose makes it up with the bat and especially with baserunning.

    * Nolan: 57.8 / 44.2 / 51.0
    * Jose: 57.6 / 44.6 / 51.1

    Jose wins the tiebreaker though – number of helmets that have flown off. He’s just so incredibly smart on the basepaths, the number of times he’s stretched out a single to a double or taken an extra base elsewhere is beyond count.

    And of course, he knocked out Tim Anderson. Case closed.
