[The Hoop Collective] Tim MacMahon says that Nico Harrison “would never” trade Anthony Davis and that Harrison may be fired so that the franchise can trade Davis and pivot to building around Cooper Flagg without control of their 2027, 2028, 2029, and 2030 1st round picks.

  5. So AD is 32 turning 33 in March. Making 54 this season, 58 next season, and 62 his last season.

    Who realistically wants him, and what’s a reasonable number of picks?

    Build around copper and lively(get him whatever he needs to be healthier)

    Trading AD would, of course, be a solid move.

    That would involve another team wanting him.

    Other teams would want AD if there was no other context.

    There is other context, though.

  20. It’s a brutal situation obviously. The reality is the team probably needs to wait for him to be fully healthy and start playing him again to showcase his value. Maybe even after Kyrie is back and the team actually looks decent. That’s when you move him for as much as you can. Ideally a starter or two and a bench guy (has to match salary) and at least 2 firsts (unprotected). Anything less is a disaster and yes I know it’s realistic that this doesn’t happen.

    The team doesn’t need AD, it never did. We already have Lively and Gafford at the 5 (AD isn’t a 4 lol). Flagg is a 4, but he can be played at the 3 with PJ at the 4. That is a perfectly fine front court. You can play Christie at the 2 with Kyrie at the 1 (you don’t trade him unless deal is right or he asks for it). With solid talent on bench and whoever Mavs get back in a trade. AD is an awful fit on this team, it’s always been that way.

  23. What’s funny is that AD is quite literally the perfect player to play next to Luka. AD is the exact type of defensive versatile rim rolling big that Luka thrives with, and Luka is the exact type of guard that can set AD up better than maybe any other guard ever. Just from his ability to freeze defenders, get the ball to him on mismatches, and pass lobs.

    Just think about how great Luka made Lively, and remember AD is just a more evolved version of that

  24. Let Nico Harrison inspire you, all it takes is the right conversation with the right person to land you dream job, and you don’t even need to be good at it! In fact, you can be awful at it!
