[BBWA] Cade Horton Finishes 2nd Place in 2025 NL Rookie of the Year Voting

  1. Great job by Paige Leckie of MLB.com Washington on not even putting Horton in the top 5.

    Same person voted Shaw 3rd…

  2. Disappointing as Cade had a bigger impact in my opinion on a team that made the playoffs. This vote reminds me when Chris Sabo was the 1988 NL ROY over Mark Grace

  3. Based on how he carried the team to the playoffs I feel it should have carried more weight, but let’s be honest, baseball writers don’t know shit

  4. I mean I think he should have won it, but I’m biased, so I’m not mad he got second

Im mad that those who didn’t vote him for first place didn’t vote him for second

And there’s one who didn’t vote for him at all, which shows that person doesn’t actually watch baseball

  5. I think if Horton plays the full season from opening day and puts up comparable stats, he wins it. Baldwin did have a great year.

  6. Well this sucks. Because Horton finished top two he now gets to his contract year a year early.

  7. As a die hard Braves fan who’s been rooting for the Cubs secondary because of Dansby Swanson I can say that Baldwin and Horton were easily the best of the NL and really just came down to how voters view the pitcher vs position player impact. Horton was a beast the second half. Hopefully he continues to improve and be a cy young candidate

  8. Baldwin had a really good rookie season, but Horton was one of the best pitchers in all of baseball. The 2nd half of the season he was a top 5 pitcher in the NL!

  9. Honestly feels right.
Baldwin had a great season but I’m super happy we have Horton.

  10. Let’s be real – fanatics paid them off because Cade Horton red rookies were hella more printed than either of the winners….. it’s all rigged
