Knicks News After DOMINATING The Nets

The Knicks are now 6-0 at home and they are in third place in the Eastern Conference after they dominate the Brooklyn Nets yesterday 134-98. [Music] The Knicks have won four in a row. They are now at the top or near the top of the Eastern Conference and they are starting to fire on all cylinders and you are starting to see how good this basketball team can be. You’re watching X Now by Chat Sports. I am your host Marshall Green and we are starting to witness one of the best teams in recent history for the New York Knicks. This team has been over the last week and a half or so playing like the best team in basketball. Going into that game against the Brooklyn Nets yesterday, I had no fear that they were ever going to lose this basketball game. And we’re starting to enter a space where I don’t ever expect the New York Knicks to lose. And they are doing it with a simple formula. We are going to beat you up on the glass. They outrebound the Brooklyn Nets 46-38. We are going to take care of the basketball as well. 14 turnovers, five less than the Brooklyn Nets. And we are going to move the basketball. They are now top five in total passes in games this year, jumping up from near the bottom of the league last year. 31 assists. 30 assists last year was the magic number. The Knicks this year are consistently over that. And they continue to be red-hot from down, knocking down nearly 46% of their three-point tries. And they are also getting to the free throw line. I know there was a lot of worry, oh the Knicks are going to be way too finessed this year. Yeah, they take a lot of threes and they’re making a lot right now, but they still get to the line and they still dominate you on the glass. I want to start with Mitchell Robinson because the way that he is playing basketball right now, the way he is affecting the game for the New York Knicks, I think it’s the best of his career. He played 16 minutes yesterday and was a plus 40. The Knicks outscored the Nets by 40 when Mitchell Robinson was on the floor for just 16 minutes. He gives you eight points. He gives you eight rebounds, three more on the offensive end, and four stocks, two steals, two blocks. When Mitchell Robinson is healthy, when Mitchell Robinson is in shape, Mitchell Robinson is one of the best players in the NBA. He is a master at his craft. What he does, he does better than everybody else in this league. His impact on winning cannot be understated. It was good to see Carl Anthony Towns get back in do in dominant form against the Little Brothers that are the Brooklyn Nets. 28 points for Towns, 12 rebounds. Didn’t shoot the ball all that well from downtown. Only got two shots up, but 58% overall from the deck. Uh Towns just dominated the matchup that he had. Josh Hart’s playing great basketball of late. As of uh as as of late, he’s been awesome. His ability to he’s such a better player off the bench. And that’s almost unfair cuz last year he was all he had multiple games where he had triple doubles and he had his best year in the NBA. But having him come off the bench, be that Energizer Bunny, move the ball, push the pace. I love the way that Josh Hart has defended this year. I feel like he’s moving better. He looks quicker. Uh he’s over it seems like that back injury. Doesn’t seem to have a knee injury at this point anymore. I have been thrilled with the way he’s played basketball and I love the confidence he is showing in the ability to knock down that outside shot. Gets two more threes up last night. Knocks down one of them over the last couple of games. He’s shooting over like 70% from downtown. It’s unreal, unsustainable, but he gets open looks and if he can just knock those down at a reasonable clip, it takes this team to new heights. OG and Anobi is becoming one of my favorite players to ever wear a New York Knick uniform. His ability on defense to change a game cannot be understated. And the way that he is looking for his shot from three and from two. Sometimes he gets a little tunnel vision. I don’t hate it all that much. He gets downhill, he attacks the rim. He’s so damn good. I mean, you’re winning games by almost 50 points where Jaylen Brunson isn’t even having to do anything. Like if you would have told me last year that Jaylen Brunson’s gonna have 19 points and four turnovers and he’s only going to shoot 42% from the field, I would have told you they would probably lose that basketball game. Not this year. They have so many weapons. They have so many different ways they can win games. They could beat you this way. They could beat you that way. And Brunson doesn’t even have to be a superhero anymore. There will be a time and place when we get into the spring where he’s going to need to be a superhero. I love the way he’s playing off the ball though as well, moving around the perimeter, being a catch andoot player. We’ve talked about how on this channel he is the best catch and shoot spot up player in the NBA and the Knicks, they are uh they’re getting that out of him right now. We’ve kind of known and a lot of people anticipated male Bridges having a breakout season in year two with the Knicks under Mike Brown. And while the points per game have actually gone down from 17.6 to 16.0, know the efficiency has skyrocketed and you can see he is much more comfortable and he knows his role and he is being a superstar in his role and you know he gets a little bit more pumped up to play his former team male Bridges this year is averaging 16 points per game shooting 54.6% from the field and 50% from downtown. Last year he shot 35% from three and he shot 50% from the field. So he was up four and a half percentage points from the field. He’s up 15 percentage points from three. His assists are up as well. 3.7 assists last year to 5.2 this year. The steals are up to 1.2 per game. The rebounds are up from 3.2 to 4.4. And he’s doing it on three less minutes per night. We all maybe thought that the points and the stats would go up and some have. The efficiency has skyrocketed. He is he fits like a glove in this Mike Brown system. Um and since uh we we’re on the topic of the Brooklyn Nets frequent tweeted out, “We had a great time trading you, brother,” to male Bridges when he said, “I think every time I play Brooklyn, I just think about how my life changed when I got there. when I got traded from Phoenix to there. Just how my life changed from that situation. I had a great time with the Nets. Well, the Nets, they like to victory lap. The Knicks may have overpaid and if they did, who cares? You got the player. Um, the Nets are 27 and 65 since trading Male Bridges. So, um, congrats on being the worst team in the NBA in that stretch. And who do you have to show for it? Those picks, man. You really got a lot of good players for those. Jordan Clarkson, he’s going to be in the running for six man of the year. 11 points, five of eight from the field, and he did it in limited action as well. Um, pulling up the stats, I want to say he played less than 20 minutes last night. Um, he 18 minutes. Yep. 18 minutes for Clarkson, 11 points. Um, he could fill it up and that’s why he brought him here. Efficient as well. Landrew Shamut uh is becoming a everyday player as he should be. He competes on defense. He can let it fly from three, doesn’t need the ball to be effective, and I love seeing him play around alongside the core four as well. I’d like to see more of that. Yabelli is still looking to find that footing. Um hopefully he doesn’t lose confidence. I love how he still makes game day posts and victory posts on social media. Let the good vibes roll, Yahoo. We all believe in you. We all trust you. We all got hope and we’re all supporting you. Uh the shots are going to fall. Um we uh we we will uh we will see the Yabiselli talent shine through eventually. Just got to find his footing. Got to be a little bit more comfortable. He’s in a slump right now. Nothing to be too worried about in my opinion. The Knicks are good, guys. Like hot take. Knicks are really really good. And it it feels good because the Giants stink. The Jets stink. I know they won yesterday, but they stink. Um the Rangers stink. The the the Knicks they do not. All they do is win games. I saw a stat uh from Ian Begley. I’m actually going to read that real quick. The Knicks 40point first quarter tonight verse Brooklyn is their sixth 40 plus point quarter of the season. They lead the NBA. The offensive firepower that this team possesses is in a different stratosphere than every other team in the NBA. That’s why you made the G changes you made because if the Knicks are going to win a title with this group, it’s got to be because of their offense and we’re on that track right now.
