Winners of five out of their last six and destroy the lowly New Orleans Pelicans 121 to 98. I’m Eric. That’s Espo. We’ve got the Freckle Mamba behind the Mac. And of course, Stephen will be calling in live from the morg later. But none of the magic happens without all of you here in chat with us, our members and non-members alike, all uniting as the Phoenix Suns are finally clicking and the vibes are high. Grace and Allen set a franchise record. The Suns got physical. The Suns destroyed a lowly team in the Western Conference. Espo, I’m feeling great. How are you feeling, Aridan? Can you open the drawer? put the tow tag on the freaking Pelicans and slam that drawer shut because the morg is taking another victim. The New Orleans Pelicans uh were no match for the Phoenix Suns tonight and in particular no match for Grayson Allen in the second half. This was a hell of a fun game and these are the kind of games that we haven’t had in a while and it’s nice. We deserve them around here. So here here’s the thing and I can already I can feel it, right? I’ve seen it on social and I can feel somebody typing in the chat or watching on YouTube after the fact or listening on audio and their first thought is this. Well, it’s the Pelicans. This is a now two and eight Pelicans team that have lost six games in a row. This is a Pelicans team without Dejante Murray, without Zion Williamson, without Jordan Pool. And I hear you. I don’t care. I don’t care at all. We kicked their ass up and down the court from the start of the game to the end of it. The first half it was like they sleptwalked to a 20-point lead. Good teams take care of business against bad teams. And while it didn’t take a nuclear performance from Devin Booker, you did get one of the single greatest performances in franchise history. And that is not hyperbole. I know I’m full of hyperbole, but that is not the case when it comes to Grayson Allen. One of the best performances we’ve ever seen in a Suns uniform. Mr. Hyperbole over here, but correct. It’s true. 10 made threes is a franchise record in an evening. You know, the points he had 24 points in the second half compared to the rest of the team that only had 23. And quite frankly, I’m going to use a little French here since our friends are from the French quarter. I don’t give a [ __ ] if it’s just the New Orleans Pelicans. Uh you went out there and you took care of business and you took care of it in a big way. You were eight and a half point favorites and you go out there and you cruise to a 23-point victory. I mean, let’s not bury any leads. Let’s name our dude of the night presented by Hila River Resorts and Casinos. You do you at Hila River Resorts and Casinos. Visit playhila.com for more details. Of course, it’s Dylan Brooks. It has to be Dylan Brooks tonight. Just a monster performance. No, I’m kidding. It’s not Dylan Brooks. It’s Grayson Allen. Grayson Allen is our dude of the night. Now we’re in We got you. Look, Grayson Allen. I it is one of the best performances that we’ve ever seen in franchise history. In just 28 minutes tonight, 28 minutes, he scored 42 points, recorded four assists, got three steals, shot 12 of 17 from the field. That’s good for 70.6% and shot 10 of 15 from deep, a franchise record 10 makes for 66.7%, eight of 10 from the line, and a plus 22 on the evening. Grayson Allen could not miss. He was driving. He was shooting threes off balance. He was taking heat checks. He was everywhere. This is the best shooting performance we’ve seen as far as makes from deep in franchise history. And 42 points in 28 minutes. Is impressive. One of the best performances we’ve seen in the NBA so far this season. Yeah. I mean, it’s called efficiency. I mean, plain and simple. He was amazingly efficient this evening. not only in how fast he scored, but in how well he shot as well, going 12 of 17 uh overall. And they were circus shots, a lot of them. Like the ball would hit his hand and he was putting it right back up uh in in rhythm. And then he had a couple drives to the lane. He had that one where he did that slowdown step and then the guy blew by him and he laid it in. Like this was a master class by Grayson Allen tonight. a guy that the GM called it. Brian Gregory called it on media day saying uh that he thought it was gonna be a career year for Grayson Allen through 11 games. It certainly has been so far and tonight was the best we’ve ever seen Grayson Allen. 42 points is a careerhigh. Those 10 three-pointers are careerhigh. Uh he was hitting on all cylinders. And you need you need those kind of performances. So Devin Booker doesn’t always have to be the man. He can have a night where he doesn’t have to do everything. Yeah, Devin Booker 19 points tonight, but eight of 13 from the field. Three assists for him. But it was all about Grayson Allen. And the thing with Grayson wasn’t just the fact that he was going off from deep. It was also that he was staying engaged defensively. He was constantly moving without the ball. And he wasn’t tired. I mean, Eddie even said it like he could have kept playing and if this game was close, this guy’s probably dropping 50. Now, I will say, as much as this still counts, even though it was against the Pelicans, the Pelicans defensive strategy, the zone against Grayson Allen, I don’t know what they were doing. They were leaving him open, but you still got to hit the shots. And Grayson Allen hit the shots to the point where he didn’t have to play for a majority of the fourth quarter and still outscored the entire team in the second half. it. Honestly, I cannot be happier with his performance this season going into tonight. He’s already been in my opinion the second best player on this team throughout the season. And tonight just proved that he still has these levels that he can hit. And a big testament to Jordan and everybody around him for understanding the situation and getting him involved and finding him. He’s got to feel so good because he’s coming off of one of his worst years of his career with Mike Benhoer. The last time he had a year that bad was the last time he played under Mike Bddenhoer and now he’s getting MVP chants. They’re chanting Grayson Allen’s name. He was saying in the postgame interview that he loves it here and he loves the fans. You’ve got to feel good about a guy like Grayson Allen who has found his place in Phoenix is one of the longest tenur members on this roster and is just getting better through hard work. He’s worked on his body. He’s worked on everything with his game. You got to just give it up for Grayson Allen. He He’s been incredible this season. Well, his defense, too. I mean, three steals tonight, but we’ve seen him get blocks. We’ve seen him pester guys. There was a there was a point tonight where somebody was trying to back him down, and he just kept hitting right into the guy like he won’t back down from anything. And it’s it’s an edge like that on the defensive end that helps lift everybody up on this team. This defense has been unbelievable during their streak. Top five gez in terms of everything. And and the way they started, you wouldn’t have thought that they’d be able to be that. I mean, people were like, Bill Simmons was right, you know, after after two, three games there. And now this team has turned into uh you know that’s one of the strengths of the team and and Grayson Allen’s uh you know helping on that end even which is a huge deal. Uh, and what you’re getting offensively is just otherworldly from Grayson Allen and higher than I think anybody would have expected, especially a night like tonight. You know, he’s capable of hitting those threes, but to hit 10 of them, to to play with efficiency, to only be have to play 28 minutes. I mean, no starter played more than those 28 minutes, which is huge because you got the backtoback Wednesday, Thursday this week, and then, you know, that’s that’s a big deal. So, I’m impressed with everything he’s been able to do. Overall, I don’t think the Suns played fantastic to No, it was not a it was not a necessarily a pretty game. No, it wasn’t. Even in the first half, you know, we were sitting there and and it it was with Eritton and Aritin was kind of like, man, like I I forget what the moment was, but it was like, oh, that was sloppy. That was bad. And then I just go, we’re kicking this team’s ass. I believe it was an Isaiah Isaiah Livers uh Colin Gillespie twoman game that uh I think I got mad at the defensive twoman game that Colin Gillespie and Isaiah Livers had. Which which was the second quarter and then I and then I just say, “We’re kicking this team’s ass.” And goes, “Oh my god, I didn’t realize that we were already up this much.” I believe they were up 18 at the point. Off off rip, man. Off rip. This team, you know, people thought this was going to be one of the worst teams in the Western Conference. Clearly, they’re not that, right? How good can they be? Especially without Jaylen Green, who was out there on the bench, looked good, crashed Grayson Allen’s postgame interview. Was moving. All right. We’ll talk about that. We’ll talk about that a little bit later in the show. But this team has now won five out of their last six. And they go up against a Pelicans team. That’s trash. This is a terrible team. Awful team. Disgusting team. I mean, they’re not facing somebody much better on Wednesday in the no Dallas Mavericks either, but I don’t I don’t care again. But good teams do what they did tonight, which is just sleepwalk into taking care of business by 20 points. But I mean, this was a game that you could easily see it being a trap game. Sure. Monday night, a you know, you know, you got a busy week. This is a team that comes in mortally wounded with their injuries. Two and seven. You you easily could have turned that part of your brain off and just tried to coast and they didn’t. They worked hard. Now there were some ugly shots. There were some ugly things in particular to start the game, but just chipped away, you know, got hot. Royce and Grayson did that lead built and they didn’t let it go away at any point. And you got to give them credit like like coach said, they aren’t going to make excuses. They’re going to come out and play and play their hardest every night. They are. And that’s that’s my thing, right? Is trap game this, trap game that. And maybe this is just me getting carried away right now, but I do not think that this is the type of team that will take anybody lightly. And if anything, starting off the season one and four probably showed them that because they have even less of a margin for error at this point because if they lose more games and they have aspirations to make the playoffs, last year the West was decided by like two or three games from the second seed to the eighth seed, right? If they want to do what they think their plans are, which is make the playoffs, not be a bottom tier Western Conference team, they’re already digging themselves out of a hole and they’ve done it immediately. This team is five and one at home. Five- one at home for this team who’s had Jaylen Green play one of those games. One. He’s played 30 total minutes this season. He’s their second best player. We saw how good they can look with him there. It’s incredible the preparation, the buyin from an organizational standpoint from top to bottom. You’ve got to just give it up for for Coach Aught. He’s been fantastic. I think his rotations have started to even out a little bit. I know some people will look at 20 minutes for Oso tonight and they’ll get upset, but I think if you watched him play, it’s like, okay, that wasn’t bad. Plus, the Pelicans sucked. I mean, it was a lot of garbage time played in the back half of it playing point guard in the fourth quarter. So, yeah. Look, I just appreciate how this team plays. I appreciate their preparation, and I go in every night expecting to have fun. Maybe there are no expectations for this team to be a great team in the West, but I’ve already set my expectations for I’m going to enjoy watching Phoenix Suns basketball. I’ve already enjoyed this season more than I did the entire last season. There’s already been more moments where as a collective while we’re watching these games, we lose our mind over something because it’s been that enjoyable to watch. There is something to be said about having a team that moves the ball around, that plays hard, that has fun, uh, and that is playing well on both ends of the floor. I I think we undervalue how entertaining a team playing good defense can be. And this team has done that over the last five, and it’s it’s turned into wins. And to your point, yeah, you stack them now because, you know, you can you can make or break your season early on with these 50/50 games that that you play. And they’re starting to learn how to win and how to win convincingly. Yeah. I will say I think I was still more excited about a nine in one start personally just because it was like, yeah, they got stuff to figure out, but this team just knows how to win. We’re at our 11th game now. So now we’re past that nine in one BS. All right, let’s let’s get a couple super chats in here before we hit a break. I want to celebrate uh it’s Phil in the chat who is celebrating one month. Oh no, Perplex Damage, not Phil. Somebody else commented about a Phil. Perplex Damage celebrating one month as a member. Thank you. Perplex Damage. Thank you. Perplex which you get a prepaid super chat every month for being a member says good win. And indeed it was. Yes, he played tonight. Good win. No, no, good one. Yes. From Oh, good win. Yes. Yes. Uh, a great performance from everybody. We’ll get our blueco collar boy of the night. We’ll take a look at the numbers. We’ll read the rest of your super chats. Like psycho blues 999 super chat that said Judith Shuttlesworth lives. Oh yeah. We’ll keep talking. Grayson Allen and everybody else on the other side of our first break. And if you’re seriously injured uh in an accident, I highly recommend that you do your research and you find yourself a good lawyer because I got one with my family and had a lawyer that was not about actually helping me win a case. He was about his bottom line. But with the husband and wife law team, it’s not like that because Mark and Alexis Prior are the husband and wife team and they believe in the valley. They’ve raised their eight children here. They’re about giving back and they’re about helping you uh get the results that you need uh and the best outcome for you, not about the money that’s going to go back to their firm. They have certifi certified specialists by the State Bar of Arizona. Uh, and only less than 1% of lawyers are actually certified specialists in injury and wrongful death litigation. Like Kev dropped a super chat. $2 said for PHNX, I hit 67 behind the announcers on TV. Kev, you were behind Eddie and and Kay. Nice, man. I have to go back and find it or you have to send us a video. Send us a screenshot if you find it. We want to see it. Michael Ramirez of the $10 super chat says, “We talked about the potential moving Grayson and Royce to the deadline, but these guys are vital pieces. The team ceiling seems to get higher and higher each week. Jordan equals coach of the year.” I mean, at worst, if everything goes to hell, you got two guys that you can recoup some assets for, but I agree. right now. I wouldn’t be considering moving either of them with what you have a chance to accomplish. Plus, it lets you slow play some of your younger guys, which might not be the worst thing in the world. Yeah. I look, you have options, which is nice, right? If if you feel like there’s a team that comes knocking on your door and says, “I’ll give you multiple first round picks for Grayson Allen.” Well, yeah. Then you go, you got to consider Well, because the way that he’s playing, man, like the way he’s playing, if he’s on a contender, he could elevate them. Hell, the way that this team is playing, if they’re fully healthy, they might just say, “Screw it. We don’t have a draft. We don’t have our own draft pick this year, let’s run it out. Let’s try to play. Let’s try to win a playoff series with this coach and this team.” Before we move away from from Grayson, I want to get into our love the play of the night presented by Arizona Lottery play and gift today. If you are over the age of 21, it has to be Espo. The record-breaking 10th three-pointer from Grayson Allen has to be the play of the game. Yeah, it’s history. It’s history making. And that’s always whenever you get a chance to witness that a play that you should etch in your memory, especially if you were there at the arena, you now can say, “I witnessed history. The most three-pointers made by a son in any game.” So, you know, I think that that is something that is well worth me remembering and uh loving that play. But he wasn’t the only guy that stepped up tonight. Let’s name our blue collar boy of the night. It is Royce O’Neal. As Michael said in his super chat, both Royce and Grayson have stepped up tremendous tremendously in just 23 minutes tonight. Royce had 14 points, five rebounds, two assists, one steal, one block, five of nine from the field, four of eight from deep. A secondary team high plus 21 in plus minus tonight. Royce and Grayson Espo. Not only have they been ultimate vets, they’ve been two of the five best players on this team. Yeah. I mean, they combined for 14 of the 19 three-pointers the Suns hit tonight, and they did it on 23 shots. So, the two of these guys are the epitome of what you want from uh you know, they’re secondary guys on this roster and they’re still doing things that uh you know, the big dogs usually do for a team. And Royce was spectacular tonight. uh shot 50% from deep but grabbed those five boards was kind of all over the court and there was that stretch where he and Grayson essentially carried everything and and gave the Suns that doubledigit lead with really little help elsewhere. So I really liked what I saw from him tonight. Yeah, he’s he’s been awesome. He also has a tradable contract. I know it sucks to think about it that way, but he’s been immensely valuable. I think his defense has really held up as well. The stocks continue to come for him. And the shooting the the shooting sustaining and being consistent. I don’t know if he’ll always be shooting this well, but it feels like all the threes that Royce hits, they’re always timely. The other team’s going on a run. The Suns are in a little bit of a lull. Royce O’Neal finds a corner three, finds a wing three, and just nails it. There were a lot of of really good performances tonight. You mentioned the three-point numbers. Let’s just take a look at the numbers as a whole. Presented by Desert Financial Credit Union, Arizona’s number one credit union named by Forbes. Of course, the only number that matters, Espo, 121 to 98. The Suns do take down the Pelicans, but all across the board, it was a thorough ass kicking. Yeah. Uh Suns actually had fewer shots in this game, which is surprising. They hit 39 of 78, which was 50% uh from the floor to the Pelicans 34 of 83. 41%. Uh, Suns shot 19 to 43 from deep, 44%. Uh, the Pelicans only got up 32 three-pointers tonight, only hitting 10 of them, 31%. Free throw shooting, not the greatest night at the line for the Suns. They went 24 of 31 77%. Uh, the Pelicans just as bad though. They went 20 of 26 for 77%. Suns won the rebounding battle, but only by two, but they crushed it on the assist side. They had 29 to I believe 16 for the Pelicans tonight. Yeah, 29 assists on 30 18 29 assists on 39 made field goals for the Suns. The ball movement spectacular. The spacing I think part of why Royce is shooting so well is because I don’t think he’s ever gotten this good a look. The spacing’s been crisp. They’ve been finding guys. The ball movement at times was a little clunky tonight, but when it got going, it really was whipping around and finding the open man, it was it’s very nice. I mean, to shoot 50% from the field in any game against any team in the NBA is massively impressive. To shoot 44% from deep on an NBA level on 43 attempts is massively impressive. I don’t, again, I don’t care this was against a bad team. We see teams without their starters go on and upset other good teams all the time. You saw it in Atlanta over the weekend. They beat the Lakers when they didn’t have their star players. You You just It is a professional basketball game and the Phoenix Suns showed up and they took care of business. Some other guys that we should definitely highlight tonight. I mean, we could talk about Devin Booker’s game a little bit. Obviously, not the biggest night from him. Espo, like I mentioned before, just 19 points, but he was the one who really got things going for the Suns in that first quarter. I believe he had 10 of his 19 in the first quarter. still continues to just get raked every time he shoots a shot with no foul calls, but he’s still finding ways to hit it. Only 13 shots in 27 minutes. A welldeserved, efficient, technically kind of night off for B. Yeah, I mean 62% from the floor, 61 and a half. But uh I mean 27 minutes he w went out there and he did what he had to, but he also knew when his other guys were hitting and just let Grayson and and Royce do their thing tonight. And yeah, some nights you want your star to have the lesser lift because that means he can save some of that for the two games that they had back to back Wednesday, Thursday. And you know, I have no problem with nights like that because you didn’t need more from him. You didn’t need him to do anything more than get those 19 points, hit those eight shots tonight. He was spectacular. By the way, Kev, DM those to me on Twitter. Uh, if you want to get those screenshots, we’ll get them on the show tonight. I’ll keep an eye on my DMs over on Twitter for that. Uh, but yeah, Devin Booker did what you needed to him to do tonight. And, uh, I don’t think there’s much much you can really glean from his night other than, yeah, he hit those shots. He had one ugly three, but he had a lot of great midies tonight. It was it was a good performance. One of the things I’ve really appreciated about Book is the game starts and he does try to get his other teammates involved, but as soon as they hit a cold stretch immediately, he’s like, “All right, I’m going to take a shot.” Not, “Okay, this guy’s cold. Let’s get him another shot. Okay, let’s move the ball.” It was, “All right, couple of miss threes, couple of bricks. Let me go get into the free throw line, hit a midi, and calm things down.” It’s just good when to sense things, when to push on the gas, and when not. I think he’s found a really great balance. One thing to kind of keep an eye on, not book related, uh, this is from Stephen on Twitter, said Jordan not mentioned postgame that it’s quote nothing serious, but they did hold Colin Gillespie out of the back end of tonight’s game. Said it was good to find that pocket to rest him in. Colin Gillespie with just 13 minutes tonight, six points and and five assists. Now, saying they held him out is definitely interesting. I I wonder since he’s one of the highest minutes uh sharers on the team if that’s why or if there was a reason for it beyond that. Oh, well, he was wearing what I I think has to do with the back. It was one of those uh looks like a weight belt essentially that they were wearing, but I believe it stimulates the muscles in the back. So, maybe it locked up a little bit on them or something. I’d imagine if it were anything more serious that they probably would have given us more of a hint on that. So, I’m not overly concerned there. Again, if you can get away with resting these guys tonight, get away with it because you didn’t need them down the stretch. So, no concern there uh for me. But yeah, I believe that was one of those TENS units maybe that stimulates the B back muscles that he was wearing. But he was still on the bench. Conor’s been carrying the team. Uh, if I asked you, Espo, how many points Mark Williams had tonight? What would you say? Two. And you knew that off the top of your dome or did you No, I I’m not looking at two points. Two points for Mark Williams tonight in 20 minutes. Were they at the free throw line? Uh, they were at the free throw line. Six rebounds, an assist, a steal, two blocks. He only took one field goal. I still feel like Mark Williams had a pretty effective game, especially on the defensive side of things. He He’s been awesome. He’s been able to switch out on the perimeter. He’s been able to slide his feet well, contest well, alter shots. Guys aren’t taking shots at the rim because of him. And he had that awesome block on Fears where he blocked it and then threw it off him as well. Mark, the the the key to being a good center is not just putting up 18 and 10. It’s are you impacting the game on a defensive end, on a rebounding way. Mark is continuing to do that and I still think some of the best games that he’s had this season have been some of his lower stat lines. Oh, he was all over the place. And all of a sudden, you’d see his long arms pop out of a group of guys and tip a ball to a teammate or, you know, be fighting for a rebound. I the little things have have always been something that Mark Williams does well and he he had he’s had a few games where he hasn’t scored much but he was still helping fight for rebounds. You know, boxing a guy out so his teammate can get the rebound, tipping a ball out, those all play a major factor. And to your point also, rim protection and being a deterrent around the rim is a huge thing. So, a a good center doesn’t always have to be a guy that scores on the regular, and the Suns didn’t need that tonight, but he gave them what they needed. 20 minutes tonight for him with a backtoback upcoming this week. Do you think that maybe plays in his favor? And then we might see a little Mark Williams backto-back action. Maybe, but my guess is no. My guess is playing that first game against Dallas is probably the most important probably because they are a massive team even if they’re massively trash. Yeah. But yeah, you probably and may maybe if you have another game like this and you get away with playing them 10 15 minutes, then maybe you consider it. But I think the plan quote unquote is probably to avoid the backtobacks which will put you in a pecurious position on that in that Thursday game because I don’t know that I trust the rest of the center rotation right now. Uh speaking of of low numbers with Mark and his points, low number of likes in here like we have plenty of you. Like goal 215. Okay. 215. Hit that like button. Get your asses in gear is what he said. Come on. I mean, we saw a franchise record tonight and y’all don’t want to hit the like button. You each should hit the like button 10 times in honor of of Grayson Allen. I know that doesn’t work like that, but I wish it did. Do you know what hype points are? I don’t, but we should give ourselves some. Yeah. I don’t know. You get Give us some hype points. You get 100 hype points just right there. How about uh Freckle Mamba? I’m going to give you a thousand hype points just for being you. There we go. Something on YouTube now, though. Did you see that? I’m sure it’s like the It’s like some weird like this video hype point. I think it’s like the Twitch hype point thing. Yall got any spare hype points? Uh yeah, sure. 250 likes. Sure. I’ll do the Douggee. I don’t I don’t think I can very well. Do you know like like do you know not can you do it, but do you know I remember I remember it but I can you do the John Wall? I don’t know what the John Wall is. No. I’m I’m a 40 some odd year old man. The John Wall The John Wall was a little bit more your era. Yeah. No. No. Why? No. Like if Jason How many years ago was that Jason Kid did a dance, you know, if if we’re talking about Mark Price or John Stockton hitting a dance? That’s my era, bro. That’s like 15 years ago. Yeah. I was still in my late 20s at that point. That’s not washed. I was on the record. I was I was washed by that. Oh my goodness. Another another thousand hype points to to frack. I I will teach him how to douge. I almost called you a the mustache behind the mag. He’s the baby face behind the Mac. Michael Ramirez just became a member. All right. Yeah. And Cara celebrating one month as a member. Thank you, Cara. Again, if you are a member for a month, you get a free super chat. She says, “We are so back.” Are we back, Espo? Oh, we still back. How How are you feeling? Six and five. Five- one at home. Five out of the last six have been wins for the Suns. Mostly without Jaylen Green. Only two of those games with Dylan Brooks. Have your expectations for this team changed? No, no, no, no, no. They’re above 500 11. How long have you How long have you lived in this city? No, I hear you. But you don’t you don’t feel a little different. You don’t feel a little different. I I you don’t feel a little different. I I feel like we’re going to actually have a a chance to hit the predictions that we made. But I’m not I’m not raising I’m not raising that bar uh until we get much further down the line because we know how things can go. And I’m going to enjoy the ride. I’m going to enjoy the fun and I’m going to enjoy the games, but I’m not going to drastically change expectations. Uh because I don’t want to I don’t want to disappoint myself. Been there, done that. I’m just going to enjoy the ride and buy the t-shirt at this point. You see, here’s here and here’s the thing, right? I’m not changing my expectations to the point where I expect them to win every game, but like I said before, I expect this team to be competitive in pretty much every game. They’re going to get blown out once or twice. It’s going to happen, maybe. But no, they they will. See, this is why he crash this is why he crashes out so hard when something goes wrong, too, right? But this this just look I am as scarred of an Arizona sports fan as they come obviously because when something is bad I feel it. There is there is just a little bit of a twinge of something in the air. Espo there’s something in the air with this team. It might have just been something you took. All right. I didn’t take anything. Stone cold sober. There’s something in the air with this team. I right now why why do we have to project any further than but am I saying am I saying you just you just asked me if I’m changing my expectations my point is no I’m going to sit here and I’m going to enjoy what is going on with my team and I am not going to worry about anything beyond the Mavs game on Wednesday but I the thing is I’m not worrying about that either I’m looking forward to the next game that’s that’s the exciting that’s what I’m look forward to the next game. I don’t care about games 50 through 82 right now. I care about what happens in game 12. Let’s have some fun with that. What happens in game 13? Get me there. Let’s keep that going. Brandon says, “Nope. Finals run. Let’s go.” Hey, Brandon, I hope so, man. And and if if you want to go that route, enjoy it. You can you can be that. I’m gonna I’m gonna k sit here, keep myself grounded, and enjoy what we are in because I have fallen too victim to the the, you know, projecting forward in my life. I’m just going to have fun with this this damn team. And right now, tonight was a hell of a lot of fun and I’m going to I’m going to just live in that for right now and tomorrow I’ll I’ll worry about the Mavs, but right now, hell of a game. Oh, I’m living in it right now. I’m not being a killjoy. I’m saying I’m enjoying the moment. I’m I’m I’m living in the moment. Get excited about Phoenix Suns basketball with us because this team is fun and this team kicked some serious ass tonight to move to five and one at home on the year 121 to 98 against the lowly New Orleans Pelicans. Some opportunities to hopefully possibly stack some wins over the next couple of games. We’ll take a look at that tomorrow. But right now, let’s take a look at some more super chats. That’s more like it. You’re focusing on the now. I am focusing on the now and I’m enjoying it and I think that this team is fun. Uh Austin with a 199 super chat says, “Blowing out teams at home is honestly just great.” Uh no lies detected. No. Five and one at home. This home crowd deserves to watch a good team to have fun and enjoy it. Glad everybody is along for the ride right now. Buddha the skitso has been along for the ride for a long time. 499 super chat says, “The beauty of this team is that I can get super excited about their wins and barely phased when they lose.” That’s that’s my thing. They lose never except for five times this season, but they barely lose ever at home. I think that you walk into the season and automatically because it’s not championship or bust. And because you’re coming off of years with Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal and championship expectations and bad, I don’t know any of those guys you just mentioned, the highs get so high, right? And and they’re so fun because this team is having fun. They’re enjoying playing with each other and it’s just good basketball. Quite frankly, they play good, solid basketball. When they lose a game, they made you feel so good during the wins, you don’t care as much. Like, I don’t look back to to that four-game losing streak, which obviously is is tough when you look at the rest of the season, but I don’t look back at that with like angst and anger. I look back at it and saying they learned, they got better. That’s why for me it’s like I can change my expectations but still not be heartbroken if they lose against the Mavericks on Wednesday because this five wins out of the last six games that means more than what the losses show. Uh yeah. I mean, and you looked at and you understood that that one and four start had a lot to do with a team that was new together, new systems, and had to figure out everything. And and we knew, you looked at it and you said, “Hey, there’s there’s things for encouragement.” Uh we talked about the defense. It was terrible in the first half. They were giving up 70 points a game in the first half there for a while, but then you looked at the second half defense, you went, I see where this is going. Now, like we talked about, they’ve been a top five defense during this streak. Uh the these little things they built on Jordan continued to tinker with things, looked at not whether it was his rotations, looked at uh you know what they were doing and and how to perfect it. and they’ve done it and they’re starting to hit those open looks where early on in those first five games they weren’t. They were getting good looks, they weren’t connecting on them. Now they’re connecting on them at a high pace uh and a and a high number and it’s gone uh and turned into wins and that’s what you want. And I think they learned from a couple of those close losses. Yeah. On what it takes to go out there and actually take it to a team rather than kind of wait around for them to fail. Look, the reason why, and I’m I’m searching internally, right? The reason why I I’m feeling confident about what we got going on here, why it feels different, you could say it’s Devin Booker, you could say it’s Grayson Allen, it’s Colin Gillespie, it’s Mark. It’s Jordan Knaut. 100%. It is. It is full-fledged Jordan because what we are seeing play out in real time in front of us is how important having a coach like Jordan is. Well, and having a system, having a system, having a great staff, and having like look at how much fun the Phoenix Suns are having to the point where national NBA voices are saying, “The vibes are back in Phoenix. The vibes are high in Phoenix.” I expected them to go on a streak of winning at some point in the season, but honestly, I was like, “Maybe February, maybe January. This team’s going to have to hit some pretty low lows until they get their high highs.” They were 1 and4. And then since then they’ve snapped and they’re not going to win five out of six games and that pays for the rest of the season. But when you look at some of the mistakes that were made, whether it’s substitution patterns, whether it’s, you know, hey, let’s not go away from what was working even though the results weren’t there, i.e. missed shots on on good opportunities, and the fact that Jordan is constantly evolving his offense. I remember when Shane Young was on the program over the summer, said that he was talking with Donovan Mitchell and Donovan Mitchell was saying he was constantly sending plays and stuff from everywhere that is playing basketball, college, Euro League, all that. Just constantly saying, “Hey, how can we incorporate this? Hey, how can we do this?” The Suns for my money should only get better as long as they maintain relative health for the rest of the season. And that is encouraging to me. And I don’t have this feeling of doom, this pit in my stomach like when Mike Boonhoer’s team won five games in a row in March last year or when Frank’s V Vogel’s team turned it on in the second half of the season. What we’re seeing right now feels real. And maybe it’s not. Maybe I’ll get old takes exposed, but the reason why I think all of us can sit here right now and be in a good mood is because none of what those five out of six wins feel like have have felt like they’re fluky to me. No, I I we all know that, you know, the NBA is is es and flows. There will be games where they don’t hit those shots where things uh will eb and flow. But I think you’re 100% right. There’s nothing that they’re doing that doesn’t seem repeatable, right? And I think Stephen even tweeted about that. There the things that they’re accomplishing offensively and defensively are repeatable. It’s good motion that’s leading to good shots that they’re able to hit. It’s smart rotations on defense and communication that are leading to steals. It It’s these things that you can do regardless in most cases of which guys are on the court as well. I I want to know I I want to have this conversation though if you don’t mind. the the vibes, the idea of this. I mean, there was there were people that said, “Oh, why do you who cares if guys sing and dance, if you will, you know, if if they show positive emotion? This is basketball. It’s about winning and that’s all that matters.” Like I feel like the personality, the the caring about it, the camaraderie on a team matters in a big way, especially on a team that isn’t topheavy in talent and a team that you have to believe in each other and in the system and in the coach to maximize everything that you’re going to get out of it. It it seems like such a key ingredient that I think some people completely discredit in how you can have success. Do you agree on that front? How could you not agree if you’re a fan of this franchise? I feel like this franchise specifically, we have seen both ends of the spectrum on that, right? We’ve seen scrappy, not as talented team with good vibes. We’ve seen really talented team with good vibes. that got you into the finals, right? And then as soon as the vibes started going sour with that group that went to the finals, whether it was Monty and Da or Monty and Jay, right? Or it seemed like Book and Da. Okay, well, the team was still talented. They were still fine, but wasn’t good enough, right? Then you get Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal and the vibes just never felt fully there. I mean, it felt like they hated basketball. It felt like they Yeah, it felt like they hated basketball. Felt like they hated, you know, the coach. It felt like they hated each other, even though I’m sure they didn’t. I’m sure a lot of the guys are are fine with each other, but sports in general, right? Sports in general, when you have this joy, when you have this feeling of camaraderie, you’re going to perform better. Sports are inherently an emotional thing. When a guy hits a three, he does a celebration. When somebody’s hot, his teammates are mobbing him, right? This is a form of expression for all these guys. This is their life. This is what they’ve dedicated it to. And if you dedicate your life to something and you show up to do it and you look around and you’re not happy because of whatever your environment is, your playing time is bad, you don’t believe in the coaches, you’re not getting along with the players, whatever it is, it’s going to affect your performance, right? It’s why somebody like Dylan Brooks is so important for a team. It’s why somebody like Draymond Green is in both senses really important in a good way and has also had really bad moments for his franchise that’s derailed a dynasty. Sports are not played in a stat sheet. They’re played on a court on a field. Like you have to be emotionally intelligent and emotionally invested to be good. Robots don’t win NBA championships. Even Kawawaii had emotions when he won for the Raptors. So barely. So when when people try to separate that, like look at OKC last year, look at the Pacers last year, two different teams on the talent spectrum, but you saw two completely connected teams. The Diamondbacks from a couple of years ago that made the World Series, a connected team is a dangerous team, right? ASU football that won the Big 12 championship, connected team is a dangerous team. The Valley itself is almost like a control experiment on if you have vibes and if you don’t, how does that affect how well you play? Agree. And I think you you look at this group and last year I feel like if there was a guy having a moment like Grayson was, there’s a little excitement maybe. Tonight it was the entire bench knew what was going on. They wanted him to get those points. The guys on the court knew what was going on. They were trying to make sure that he got that shot. And you feed off of that. It’s the reason why I think the other night, even after the Jaylen Green injury, a lot of teams could have packed it in. It would have been enough of an excuse to go, “Hey, our second best guy went down with a with a horrible injury.” Uh, right. And, you know, I think that I I I think that the the camaraderie, the the brotherhood that they’re building there is a huge huge reason for this. And you just got to hope it’s sustainable. You got to hope it’s sustainable, but I think it feels more sustainable simply because everybody has stepped up. I mean, Mark Williams wasn’t starting for half of the season now at this point. Dylan Brooks was gone for over half of the season. Jaylen Green has played 30 minutes. It’s It’s tough to watch that and not think that those guys are going to show up and give it their all for each other. And that also like Jordan’s going to find the best way to use it. You can’t just have good vibes. You got to be talented. You have to be well coached. You’ve got to hit all those boxes to be a good team and to be a great team. The word is still out on just how good this team can be, but we know that we’re having fun and we’ll continue to have fun. Stephen will call in from the morg. We’ll read some more super chats and we’ll get into a lot after our final break. I’m the biggest homer in this chat, but the schedule gets brutal on November 21st, 2025, and stays that way for a month. Also, don’t sleep on Brea, Mr. Aspo. He’s great in the G- League.” Yeah, double double. Uh yeah, the the schedule’s going to get tough. This team is not going to be able to win a five out of six pace, but but stack some wins now and compete, right? You’ll lose some games against some good teams, but just compete. Play your brand of basketball, and I won’t sit here and complain. I will, but I won’t sit here and crash out. Be be the goddamn squirrel of the NBA. Collect those nuts now so you can save them for winter. Right. That’s That’s the way you do it. You prepare for what could be Can we get that code graphic? Collect your nuts now. Espo because because Yeah. From November 21st well into December, it could be a bitter cold winter during that time. But if you get winds now that you weren’t expected to get and you get a few that you’re not expected to get in that month, all of a sudden things look a little bit better when you get to that uh get to that new year and you go, “All right, well that that fight to be in the top 10 isn’t as steep as we thought it was going to be initially looking at this.” That’s what it’s about. Not about trying to win 65 games instead of franchise record. It’s about can you stack enough wins to be in that picture when it comes to it. I mean this season will not be measured in wins and losses. It will be measured in success. That is a quote from Matt Hishb media day. Success seven whatever. Yeah. Uh whatever. Austin has a question in chat. Says, “Is Grayson Allen the greatest shooter in Suns history?” Grayson Allen had tied the franchise record for nine made threes in his career and set the franchise record tonight with 10 made threes. Where does he rank for you among the greatest in franchise history? Oh, he’s a top five. So, Nash, Nash is Are we talking three or just in general? I think I I mean, look, I you can put it down to three and just in general, I think if you go in general just overall great shooter, that encompasses a lot more. But if we just want to talk three, if you want to talk three, then yeah, Nash, uh, Book made, but he his percentage wise is not amazing. Yeah, I mean, Book there there’s been a lot of great three-point shooters, but but do you do you adjust it for the time period they played because Marley was a really good three-point shooter, but if you look at it compared to now, he looks like ass because it was just a different time and and the way you shot it. So, He didn’t he didn’t get his nuts together. No, he didn’t. Not before winter. And so I I think that I think that he’s he’s a top five. I will say this, and this may be a bold claim, and this may piss off somebody, but Grayson Allen is the best Sun shooter to ever wear the number eight. And that’s including Channing, and that’s including EJ. Grayson Allen. Grayson Allen is the best pure shooter to ever wear number eight for the Phoenix. We have to clip this. That’s including Tim Kemp. That’s 53 and a half minutes. Including Frank. We’re clipping this and we’re tweeting at Eddie Johnson. That’s including Frank Commissy. That is including DJ Strawberry. Oh, now that’s disrespectful. I’m trying to dig up any number eight that I can remember. Uh, that’s better than Yeah. Tyler Ulis. All right. Yeah. I mean, I can’t believe you just took a straight. I guess I can. I didn’t take a straight. You absolutely. Did Eddie ever hit 10 three-pointers in a game for the Phoenix Suns? Is Grayson’s nickname smooth shooter? He gave himself that nickname. Eddie. Eddie, we got to hear your thoughts. Uh, I definitely think Grayson is one of the best shooters in franchise history. I think he certainly has an argument for best three-point shooter in franchise history. his percentage and his volume even if it’s adjusted for the era has been fantastic and you know we heard from Jordan on Grayson’s impressive shooting night and and we’ll get to that here in a second but realistically he he is one of the best that have ever put on the jersey and now he’s been here for three seasons. You have to be grateful that that Grayson Allen has been able to stick it out and that Grayson Allen has been getting better over his time here too. Yeah. I mean, Grayson Allen has been so good, he makes Eddie Johnson look like a water boy. He makes Channing Fry look like a couch potato. Grayson. No, Grayson has played. I’m, by the way, I’m stopping it at that. I’m not leaving the back part in at all. EJ, we love you. Nope. This part’s not getting clipped. This part is not getting clipped. It’s all AI. I didn’t say any of this. So, well, something that did get said, this is what coach hot had to say about Grayson’s impressive franchise recordbreaking shooting performance, the nine three times, three other times. So, his teammates knew it on the bench uh with the franchise. I mean, Book definitely knew um he needed one more there to start the fourth, you know, early in the fourth. So, he makes it look pretty easy when when you have that kind of range where he was shooting it from. Yeah. career night. Obviously, great night. Very efficient night. Yeah. Awesome. Yeah. Awesome. That sums it up. You know what’s great about au what’s great about is that he’ll give you like a good detailed answer and then he’ll just be real as hell at the end of it. He’ll just be like, “Yeah, that was great. That was awesome.” Like his real emotion. Like he’s actually impressed. I’m clip I’m clipping that. Yeah. Awesome. And we’re going to use that as a drop on for the dude of the night. Yeah. are the night. Yeah. Awesome. Uh this is Jordan on what impressed him the most about Grayson’s. He just shoots it from so far away with ease. Um you know, we’re trying to get him to shoot more. You know, his career numbers are, you know, he always shoots at a high clip. We want him to take some ones where he he doesn’t feel quite as comfortable all the time, but we know what he shoots. We need him to shoot more. So, we’ve tried to stress him shoot tougher ones, more contested off the dribble, um, as well as get downhill, get in the paint, make plays. So, yeah, I mean, it was was awesome. Awesome to see. Awesome to see how his teammates push for him. Such an unassuming, quiet, um, yeah, well-mannered. I mean, organized, like, he’s just he’s always the adult or another adult in the room. So yeah, it’s great to see it come to fruition. So So I guess I guess he’s saying he’s all right. All right. All right. For those of you that thinks he sounds like Matthew McConna, no, he’s not from Texas, by the way. I’m I’m pretty sure. Isn’t he from uh from Pennsylvania? He’s from Pennsylvania. Yeah. So yeah, he he’s from Pennsylvania. He’s got a very unique accent, though. I I love that he’s just like, “Yeah, we need Grayson to do everything, you know?” Yeah. drive the hoop, shoot the ball, pass it, you know, everything basically we need from him and they got that from him tonight and they’ve gotten that from him uh throughout most of the year and you’ve got to appreciate that. And you know when he’s getting praise from Jordan, uh that is not something he takes lightly. Jordan is not a guy that says things to appease people. It does not appear uh if he’s gonna say it, he means it. So yeah, in another world, Jordan Aunt is like an audiobook narrator. Like he’s got he’s got a very unique voice. I like it. I I I like it. I could see like maybe voiceover actor, you know, may maybe. But yeah, I don’t know. There’s there’s something there’s something about him that is uh is entertaining, but you know that he’s got a a huge uh mind for basketball. I’m glad that you went there. Well, you know, you got to you got to save those nuts for winter. Overtime. If you’re watching on TV, the party always continues over at gophnx.com. If you’re watching on YouTube, you don’t have to do anything except for hit that like button, hit that subscribe button, become a member today. And then, of course, if you’re listening on audio, fivestar reviews, well, they do go such a long way. And if you don’t like the show, leave a fivestar review and write something nasty. That’s fine. Get the best of both worlds. Look, the best of both worlds have been the Suns. I guess not the best, but it’s been both worlds. Hitting and missing really clean open looks this season, and now they’re leaning more into hitting it. Uh, this was Jordan not on the team’s process in generating clean look. Yeah, like we we we never want to get that deep into the shot clock. Obviously, your your first trigger into action hopefully is early in the clock and if you have the advantage, go ahead and use it. I just think with how much um the defense’s focus on book, I think that um you know, we’re just going to continue to look for the advantage. If it’s not that first initial one, we’re going to keep going, but we’re we play with high level shooters, high level IQ guys. Um and offensively, we just try to space try to space and make the right play. And again, at times Mark has to suffer at some like he’s in the pick and roll in the pick and roll in the pick and roll. tonight he gets one shot. So, it’ll be interesting to take a look at some of that. Could we have hit him a couple times? Um, again, we’re going to still seek the rim. We have to find rim attempts. Love it to be in transition, more rim attempts. Um, but if it’s not the rim, we’re going to definitely try to search for those high quality threes. So, yeah, just an unselfish group in general. I I love the offensive philosophy that essentially just find the right shot whether whether it’s at the rim with Mark, whether it’s one of these three-point shooters, find the best shot. And the ball has seemed to find that it it follows and finds the open man in this offense so far. Absolutely. And look, everybody’s bought in and and Boomshaka in the chat saying they’re coachable. Everybody has bought in on this identity. We heard so much about alignment, right? To the point that it became a joke. To the point that we put it on a t-shirt. But what we’ve seen is that it really does feel like from top to bottom, from owner to GM to coach to everybody on the roster to the G-League team. I not trying to [ __ ] around. Everybody’s aligned, man. Like everybody is everybody is aligned. A and it is shown in these games where they’ve had to win by a close margin or they’ve had to scrap back from a large uh deficit. You don’t do that if you don’t have this clear sense of what you’re supposed to be doing and an unselfishness of let’s get the best shot. Let’s get somebody else involved. Okay, Devin Booker needs to go off. Cool. Devin Booker needs to go off. Colin’s hit three threes in a row. Cool. Let Colin go off. Mark needs a shot at the rim because he’s been blocking shots and running the court. Let’s give it to Mark. These are basics in basketball, but these are boxes you have to check. Well, and I I get it. People might not like the word, and I know Charles is one of those in the chat. Luckily, Charles isn’t in charge. So, thank God isn’t in charge. But I think might be screwed. I think I think what it comes along with it is you build culture can just be a buzzword unless you have a common purpose. unless you have people that do believe in it and are working towards it. And this could have turned into a giant joke if you didn’t hire the right coach. If you didn’t bring in the kind of guys that were ready to play into a system, that had the kind of characteristics that actually fit into what you were wanting to do. It didn’t turn into that though because they did lay the groundwork and they’re attempting to build something for a sustainable success and believing in your coach is a huge part of that. Look at how much not believing in your coach the last two years was a detriment. This year the opposite is true. You’re believing in what Jordan’s bringing to the table. You’re believing in what Brian Gregory is trying to put together. And all that is starting to pay dividends. And you can call it alignment, you can call it vibes, you can call it whatever you want, but in the end, it’s common purpose. It’s we’re doing this because we believe in what we’re trying to accomplish together as a group. And that goes a long way. And that’s where uh the the camaraderie, everything builds. And it’s not a joke at that point. It has meaning to it. It takes on its own its own life at that point. Speaking of meaning, uh Grayson Allen got introspective about his time with the Suns and of course it culminating in a franchise record setting a career high setting performance tonight. This is what he said post. I’m uh I’ll uh never take for granted like the amount of support and appreciation I have here from the fans. It’s awesome. It’s uh surreal. Um and it makes it a lot of fun to go out there and play home games when you know like this fan base has been so supportive of me the last three years. And um even like the first year here like this was the place where I’d never seen so many of my own jerseys out of all the other places I’ve been in the league. So, um, it’s been really cool, really cool to see. And, um, also I just I love the fans that we have here. Grayson Allen is our guy. When when he got traded here, it was this guy has the most punchable face in the NBA. I can’t root for him. And obviously, it was very quick in that first year when he was starting under Frank Bogle that that fans got into that. And I’m sure Grayson has felt a lot of love for a long time. But also when you when you look at it, if you are Grayson Allen, you had a down year last year. You’ve been through it. Your teams have not been successful, right? He got injured in the playoffs the first year under Frank Bogle, right? The second year under Mike Boonhoer. They didn’t make the play in and he was off the bench having one of the worst seasons of his career at the same time managing having a kid. Of course, his body has changed over the time that he was here. He had an extended summer. He clearly put in so much work and made sure that he was prepared for the season to the point that Brian Gregory was talking about it at media day. Hey, we’re talking here. To see that work pay off in what culminated tonight as one of the greatest single game performances in franchise history. That’s not hyperbole. That is a stone cold fact. to see that and to hear your name get chanted to get MVP chance, right? And to feel like you earned it. No, but I mean, come on. For I mean, but like you get it, right? If you’re dropping 40ome in 28 minutes in a game, you’re going to get MVP chance. Obviously, he’s not an MVP. Obviously, he’s he’s likely MVP. There you go. MVP. MVP. You know, he’s likely not an allstar, right? You know, these are things that likely won’t happen ever in Grayson Allen’s career. He’s the dude. He’s the dude. He is the dude of the night and he might be the dude of the season. But when you look back and you can say that you had an impact on this fan base and that this is where you really kind of made your mark in your career, like there’s a chance where if they do hold on to Grayson Allen for the next couple years, he goes down as one of the better players in franchise history and one of the more beloved role players. not a star, not a a top 10 player, but one of those guys that you look back on and you say, “Wow, Grayson Allen, that’s one of my favorite Suns players ever.” Well, and this city has a propensity to to root for a a a under a quote unquote underdog, some of those bench guys that uh that come in and do things that that excite, you know, a guy that maybe was one of the lesser starters, but would have moments like this. there is a chance that he becomes a truly beloved son for the long term if he’s around for a while longer, you know, and Boomshaka says Grayson Allen is on par with Dan Marley. I think that if they have a little bit more success in his time here, I think he certainly could be in that conversation for this generation. Dan Marley has his number retired. Yeah. You know, like do like you get what I’m saying? like sure the team needs to win but Marley was an all likely was an allar so but I think I I think the point is he can have that kind of following uh and and loyalty from Suns fans. You don’t have to be the greatest of all time to have a devoted uh loyal fan base here in Phoenix. Well, lucky for us we have the greatest of all time and he is on the other side of the screen in front of us. Let’s bring in Steven Pjan Garner live from the morg aka heaven where we get to him. Stephen, the Suns 5 and one at home have won five out of their last six. But of course, tonight is all about Grayson Allen’s careerhigh performance, record setting shots from deep. What was it like to be at the morg? How alive was it tonight? Yeah, I think um first of all, hi guys. Hello. Um, just getting straight to the business. U, I think Grayson mentioned during his uh, his availability, not necessarily comparing his performance tonight to Steph, so I don’t want to make it seem like that, but what he was saying is he could hear from the crowd when he was getting to like number seven and eight and nine and 10. there’s like an anticipation, like an audible gasp that you can hear as the shooter when you’re getting ready to load up to Let It Fly. And he said that part in particular felt akin to kind of like what you see when Steph is doing what he does on a near nightly basis. Um he said just kind of that that kind of in the moment feeling present and being able to recount on it, he said is like one of the coolest things. Um, so I think from my perspective just in observing that, observing him getting the MVP chance and people chanting his name to the extent that they were for multiple stretches in the third quarter and then obviously in the fourth quarter uh once he got the record, it was a very very special moment and um not sure if we played the clip of him just kind of being introspective and his availability, but he was very very very very grateful for everything that Suns fans have been to him, how they’ve received him, and how they’ve kind of cheered him on in his now handful of seasons with the Suns. How important has this camaraderie been? Because this seemed like a team very much in tune with what Grayson was going for, the bench very much uh in on every moment tonight. It tonight felt like the kind of culmination of all right, we can we can breathe easy a little bit, enjoy the game, enjoy what we’re doing, and and take care of something as a team. Yeah, I mean, there’s been I feel like there’s been multiple kind of bookmarkable moments where they’ve shown cohesion and continuity, and I think tonight is maybe the loudest one just because of how comfortable of a win it was. but them all also kind of embracing everything that was Grayson Allen in tonight’s game. A game where he definitely wasn’t the only person that was feeling it from deep, but they all acknowledged who was on pace to set a a personal record and a franchise record in one. Um, and them obviously doing what they could to make sure that he got to that and got to that comfortably. What was he did he play 20 28 minutes today? 28. He He did what he did in 27 minutes and 31 seconds. 42 points in 27 minutes and 31 seconds. 10 threes made in a game in 27 minutes and 31 seconds. That’s crazy. That is genuinely crazy. I think it speaks to the camaraderie to your point Espo, but I think also even bigger than that, I think it speaks to the buy in comprehensively to the style of play that Jordan wants from them and the style of play that they’ve clearly understood is going to be what puts them in a place to be their best version of themselves on the offensive end. And I think because of that, it might not necessarily result in multiple guys knocking down 10 threes in one game over the course of the season, but I think there could be numerous instances where one guy is knocking down six or seven threes in any given game just because of the high volume of passes that they’re making, the high volume of trust behind that, and the ways that they put a defense in a bind that opens up the shot quality that they generate. It’s really It’s really something special. I’m not going to act like it’s like the 2016 2017 Warriors because it’s not that. But as far as the levels that they’re reaching, it’s a it’s a very high level. And for them to be doing that without having the kind of um treasure trove of snipers that those teams like the Warriors had or even having an all-time great shooter on the roster, it really just speaks to the process part more than anything for me. Do do you think we could call him the Silver Slayer? You like that nickname? Silver Slayer is dope. That sounds like a nickname that came from uh Gregory Espazito. I don’t know who that is, but sure. I think that guy’s in our That guy sounds like a genius. Uh Stephen, obviously tonight a lot of eyes were on Grayson Allen. What else were you kind of keeping track of? Any other performances that intrigued you, either in a good or bad sense? Uh yeah, Eric, um do you have your seat belt strap with you? It’s on. Correct. Yes. Now, yes. Obviously, they played a New Orleans Pelicans team that did not have multiple top pieces for their uh for their roster in today’s game. Yes. But the process is still the process. I think the Suns not falling into the trap of okay, we see what the injury report is. We also see that this is a team that’s lost multiple games by 30 or more points through their first eight or nine games and not allowing for that to play into their psyche and them taking their foot off the gas. It felt like they set a tone of sorts in the first quarter and then they doubled down in the second, third, and pretty much the fourth quarter as well. I mean, they were containing the basketball. They rotated well. They did a good job of staying out of rotations because of the pressure that they were putting on the ball. They forced turnovers. They did a good job on the boards. Like they did all of the little things on the margins that they need to tend to regardless of who their opponent is. And I think that part is is important for me because you can like no one would have been mad at them if they had a step that they took backwards defensively in a game where they put up the points that they did and knock down the the threes that they did. But the fact that it came in tandem with what was their best defensive performance of the season, I think really just speaks to a team that’s locked in on what their routes to success are regardless of opponent and tending to those things accordingly in respect to the ways that they desire to play on a night in night out basis. And I think that’s the mark of a team that that’s destined to do things to a certain extent. Now, how high that ceiling is remains to be seen, obviously, but I think if they’re taking care of business at this level defensively, they put themselves in position to be as successful as they want to be. So, what I heard is Steven’s disappointed because they didn’t beat him by 30 like those other teams. Is that what I heard? Uh, Stephen, Coach Aught, when talking about tonight’s game and kind of the overall picture of of what they’re working towards, uh, how did he feel about things in general and as they look forward? Yeah, he was he was very pleased. um he spoke to them not always necessarily wanting to be working late in the shot clock, but if you’re working late in the shot clock because of the ball and the players on the court wanting to find the most open shot with the best rhythm, that’s different from having a lack of process that a defense defends well and now someone has to get into their bag and take a contested two or pull up three or you have to ask Deon Booker to put his Superman cape on that part of the context is different from when it’s moving and it’s moving at a volume that’s generating so many closeouts that there’s wear down effect within just 24 seconds yet alone over the course of a game. And again, it goes back to the the point I made earlier with them just simply trusting the pass and trusting the desired style of play that they that they want to get to. Sometimes you might work with six or five seconds left on the clock and that six or five seconds left might be the one that triggers a misstep in rotation or put somebody out of rotation and now you got someone like Grayson or Dylan or Devin or Colin or um any of the guys that are that are plus three-point shooters on this team taking a wide open look and you know at the end of the day they want to take the best quality shot. So, if that’s coming late in the clock, but the process is clean because of it, they’ll live with those results. And that’s pretty much what Jordan was um kind of hinting at in postgame. Uh obviously, he he he also made sure to emphasize that the later you get in the clock, the more the uh percentage of uh shots made dwindles and goes in favor of the defense. But again, context wise, if it’s because of the ball moving at that high volume, you live with those results because those are the shots that you want ultimately. Ready for a little trivia, Stephen? Always ready for trivia, man. Talk to me. Who is the Phoenix Suns highest scoring center tonight? [Laughter] Was it Oso Egodaro? It wasn’t. It was Nick Richards. Just kidding. It was actually a three-way tie. All at two points. Nick Richards, Osuo Gdaro, and it was Mark Williams as well. Oso played 19 minutes. Also grabbed five rebounds and four assists. Do you feel like this was a game that kind of pushed OSO maybe a little bit more back into the rotation? Nick was the first guy off the bench, but OSO ends up playing more. Has a pretty decent game or is it quite simply just the Pelicans? Uh, I find it hard to take too much away from this particular matchup because that team wasn’t healthy. Um, I think those minutes still matter, don’t get me wrong, but as far as declarations or assessing the rotation from tonight. I just don’t know if I can kind of glean too much from that just because, you know, the opponent was who they were and they had what they had, which was not much in terms of resistance. So, I don’t know. I wouldn’t I wouldn’t look too much into that. What I will look into, and I think we know what the reason why is, but it’s something we’ve been talking about for a handful of games now, and that’s Mark Williams finding the basketball or his teammates finding him rather. He only had one field goal attempt tonight. And I think obviously if it’s coming with them knocking down the volume of threes that they did and Grayson in particular doing what he did, naturally that means Mark played a part in it with his role gravity and his cut gravity. But you still want to be kind of finding opportunities to keep your big fella involved because Mark has been an an astounding A+ this season so far. And he’s been healthy as well. And I think you want to make sure you’re getting the most out of him so that he’s in a good rhythm and flow with everything that it is you desire to do as a team. So I would probably look at that part more than anything. But even with the one field goal attempt that he had, there’s multiple good reasons why he only had one field goal attempt because they were getting great shots from deep tonight. That and the team can’t throw a lob to save their life. Uh that’s another part of it. They need to get in the gym and work on that. That’s part They need you to They need you to give them a tutorial. Oh yeah, you know me, Mr. Big Lob. I’m good at that. Uh you throwing no look passes back in the day for oops. I I was They just kept going out of bounds, unfortunately. Uh, Stephen, I got another nickname. You want to hear it? Uh, oh, talk to me. It It’s for you. Actually, I think we need to call you the context because you always bring the context of what’s going on with this basketball team. You give us great insight into it. Uh, so I I think we should uh call you the context. I’m not mad at it. If it if it stinks, it stinks. I’m not tripping. It’s better than cutesy legs, right? Listen, I mean, let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves. We didn’t have to go there. Stephen, uh, any final thoughts on tonight’s game? Obviously, we’ll have a 3pm show tomorrow where you’ll be able to give more of your thoughts in full about this win streak, about winning five of six and being five- one at home, but about tonight specifically, anything else stand out? Uh, I think I think I touched on most of what stood out to me. Uh, I did want to just ask a quick question to y’all and just generally uh what kind of stood out to y’all in tonight’s game? I’d probably say Grayson Allen. Well, obvious that that was a bold take for me. Ball movement. You went on a limb there. for me ball movement because there were times tonight where it didn’t move and it was very noticeable, but then when it started moving around again and you got those good looks, it’s undeniable how good this offense can be when they follow the system and the ball follows the energy. Yeah. And to that point, they’re now five and one when they get to 27 or more assists this season. So, it’s obviously still a very small sample size, but there’s a trend there with when they’re moving the ball and obviously knocking down shots in tandem with the ball movement. The only game they lost was the one against the Jazz in overtime, and they missed they barely lost that game. So, there’s a little bit of proof of concept that’s starting to starting to peak out some for them as far as how they want to operate on offense. Well, Mr. context. Cutes legs. Thank you so much for joining us from heaven aka the morg. You can follow him at Stephen PG3. That’s Stephen with a ph. Check out all of his film sessions on our channel if you like how he talks ball. He breaks it down for us and uh he’ll be joining us in studio tomorrow in full for our 3M show. Thanks, Stephen. Later context. See y’all. Can I can I um Yes, you can. At the end here, can I just incite a little violence? Maybe not violence. We can you want to fight ask you a question? I mean it is late night. Yeah, of course. Go ahead. In both of their times with the Phoenix Suns, who has been the better shooter, Grayson Allen or Cam Johnson? Grayson Allen. Who’s been the better player? Grayson Allen. By how much? I I don’t know. We looking for percentage. We’re looking 1 to 10. 15%. I’m curious to to know everybody’s opinion on that because I I think we look at Cam and and and obviously look at Cam with a lot a lot of respect, but I mean Grayson Allen as a as a role player has just been another level since he’s been here, even though he had a down year last year. I mean, especially this year specifically, he’s just been hooping. So, yeah, I just curious. I obviously better male Bridges or Grayson Allen. Uh male because he was elite Grayson Allen or DeAndre Aiden? I’m messing around. Uh, they were traed for DeAndre Aton. Yeah. I mean, by default, have the Suns officially won that trade? Because I would rather I’d rather have Grayson than Tumani right now. Right now? Yeah. Right now? Yeah. Right now? Yeah. Yeah. And right now? Yeah. Uh, Tani is right right now. right now. I of of all the losers in that trade, which was everybody involved in that trade, I think the Suns were a little less of a loser because of it. Definitely a little less of a loser with how Grayson’s playing. The fact you got Yousef Nerkage, which is tough. The Bucks had to buy out they they had to Bradley Beal Damen Litter Lillard Litter. Damen Litter’s tough. Well, that’s what he was in Milwaukee. All right. He was Damen Litter. That’s just unfortunate. Uh, TA gets bought out by Portland. Grayson Allen is scoring 42 points in 28 minutes with 10 threes to set the franchise record. Grayson is he’s been really good. I just I I ask because I just I do wonder. I can’t Whenever you cross your legs. I can’t cross my leg, too. We can high five feet. Good. Uh, here. I’ll put mine down. You can cross your leg down. There you go. Thank you. Look, I’m not going to manspread, though. The people don’t deserve that decision. Uh, look, I I’m just I I’m starting to just kind of think about where Grayson Allen ends up in conversations like alltime role players, fan favorites, and I know he’s a he’s a top 100 son. Yeah, for sure. Uh, I’d say without a doubt. Are we getting into hyperbole zone here? I Fraggle Mama, I need Were you Were you kidding? Do you not think he’s a top 100 son? Yeah, but you’re acting like he’s going to be in some kind of No, I’m just I’m just I’m just curious. He’s got franchise records. He’ll probably be one of the best three-point shooters by volume and by percentage in Sun’s history if he sticks around for a couple of years. Obviously, that’s a big if, but it it’s curious to say like, you know, you look at a guys that have been like like all-time franchise favorites, right? And how long their stints have been and and what they did. It’s just interesting to just kind of look at, okay, Grayson Allen’s done some really interesting stuff for this franchise. if he sticks around for another couple of years and performs like he has been the last three, he’ll he’ll be in some record books on a totals basis as well. And I just wonder how people will view him. I I I don’t know. I I don’t look at records, single game records in a huge way because Jamal Crawford has one of the highest scoring games in Suns history. Uh Tony Delk has one of the highest scoring games in Suns history. Hell, Alec Peters had 39 points in a game. Aaron Baines Aaron Baines was had nine threes. he was tied for this record the franchise record three times and then I get I get it and I think that he has been very good and I think if he continues here for a handful more years and and there there’s not the baggage of what those first two years of his time were here. Yeah, maybe maybe we get into that into that range where he’s one of the favorites. But but yeah, single game uh single game records I think are very cool. I think it’s great to celebrate. It does not move a guy into a pantheon of something for me. I think it’s I think it’s the fact that he’s he’s been up there and has tied it three times and then just said it. But you know what? That’s okay. To each their own. Uh I just really appreciate what Grayson Allen did tonight. I appreciate what the Suns did tonight. Any final thoughts, Espo, on what was a successful outing against the New Orleans Pelicans. Yeah, Framba, you get a,50 points tonight. Uh you’re get you’re going to get Yeah, I’ll give you 2,000 high points. Uh, and I’ll give myself like 4 billion points to dollars. 0.0 YouTube even introduced big shout out to the chat too. A gajillion hype points to you this evening as well. Hype points. Uh, no. Look, fun game. Uh, it is, you know, they’re they’re above 500. Uh, and yeah, I just alpha leg cross there. Uh, I, you know, they they are above 500. I don’t think this will be the only time they’re above 500 this year. I think, you know, they can stack some wins over the next week or so. And uh let’s enjoy it because I don’t care how long it lasts. I’m having fun while it’s going on. Yeah. I probably not the first time you said that, huh? You talk to my college girlfriend or something. Jeez. No, I I’m having fun. I’m appreciating this team for sure. I I’m excited for this stretch. I hope they can stack some wins. It does get tough at the end of November. They’re going to play some good teams. I think they’re going to beat some good teams. They’ll lose to some good teams, too. I I still think this is a team that will catch some good teams in the in the middle of the week offguard and they’ll knock them off. And I think there will be some I’m I’m thinking less and less though that there’s going to be those let down games that they uh that they just mentally don’t show up for. I’m not sure that this team is made up that way. sound uh really right not the left hand Eric Espo does know better. Jaylen Green pregame Jordan said he’s going undergoing multiple uh tests just to see what’s going on. They should have an update on him in the next couple of days and then he was on the bench looked happy crashed Grayson Allen’s postgame. I am personally choosing to believe that the fact that he was on the bench as a good sign. I think he’ll probably still end up missing about a month or maybe two months at worse. But isn’t the fact that he’s getting multiple tests like I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing. No, because sometimes imaging isn’t conclusive. They just want to make sure. Uh tomorrow morning on Southwest Bias at 11:00 a.m. I’m going to have Adam Anakone, a former Suns trainer uh current uh professor when it comes to athletic training on the program to talk all about uh you know about hamstring injuries, what you need to know and why. Unless this is a grade three uh hamstring injury, which is literally it comes off the bone, it’s not as big of a deal to worry about as you might think. So, join me tomorrow, 11:00 a.m. Southwest Bias for that great interview. There you go. Right here on this channel. Make sure you hit that subscribe button. Grayson Allen set a Phoenix Suns franchise RECORD with 10 threes, doing so in less than 30 minutes while dropping 42 for the first time in his career. Behind this career-best performance, the Suns DOMINATED the New Orleans Pelicans, moving to one game above .500, and making them winners in 5 of their last 6 games. Just how good is this team? Does this win say a lot despite it being against one of the worst teams in the NBA? Why does Devin Booker get no respect from the refs? Where does this rank in all-time Suns single-game performances? 1. I feel like the last 2 years, there were almost never laughers, never easy games. Even the supposed gimmees, when we did win them which sadly was NOT a given, always felt like a grind to the finish. Really is wild how much fun this team is to watch, win or lose, but especially in wins. Tonight they made it look easy. Some how almost the same team, but with KD (and for 20 games per year when he was available, Beal) always made it looks so hard.
