The Ripple Effect of Trading Christian Walker Explained #shorts

Look, Christian Walker being floated on the trading block is not shocking, but the ripple effect I feel like it could have on Houston’s rotation is massive. So, we’re going to unpack moving Walker and how that could be a chain reaction where Dana Brown needs to finally bring order to a crowded infield. Think about the crowded infield. And no, I’m sorry, guy with shorts. I love your name. And you have a picture of shorts. How apppropo. Walker for Scooble who says, “No, I added that.” No, that’s not going to happen. Um, so let’s look at the current log jam of what’s going on. How much value does he have? Well, he hit 25 plus home runs and 779 OPS. It was his lowest, but he’s still a gold glover. He’s still a very good player, very serviceable, and I don’t know about what they would have to eat, but that is definitely something that they would have to consider. But Mr. Mareno. Hold on. Before we get into that, let’s talk about the current log jam and why it makes sense for the Astros without getting into the details of figuring out how. So the left side of the infield we know is locked down. Carlos Kareah at third, Jeremy Pñena at short. And so there right there is your defensive foundation. On the right side, it’s a bit of a puzzle. Esso Parades is coming back. He will be here. You’re not going to trade him. He has the bat, but he has limits on his range. Okay. Um for second base. So while Altuve may not be qu, you know, quote unquote elite, the best place to put him on the field at second base is not left field. So if that’s the case, then you can take Isach Parades, put him at first. I would much rather move him to first. And then that way you would open up left field and DH more often for the big fella himself, Yordon Alvarez. Meanwhile, the contract of Walker is really what’s looming. The $40 million and the position overlap kind of has the Astros hands tied. So they have to almost be creative with this. All right. So if you trade Walker, suddenly everything falls into place. 1. Astros need to get back to the top of the AL. Unfinished business, those haters wanting to potentially want to dance on a HOU grave can go to hell, and wait some more…

  2. I don't think Correa, Altuve, Alvarez can play 150-162 games without being injured. Why not rotate these guys to keep them fresh and healthy for the full 162? If they all play 135 to 140 games then there is room to play all of them (walker, correa, pena, alvarez, altuve, parades) including DH. This will cut into Dubon and Urias playing time but sobeit. Trade Urias.
