I didn’t get how fans wanted to trade him. If you see his stats he’s right there with most of the receivers in the league. As shown yesterday he’s a great receiver for a young QB to have. Trading Shaaed was sad but forsure the move but you don’t trade Olave. It’s probably why Jets didn’t trade Garret Wilson

  1. Nobody said he’s a bad WR. We’re rebuilding, he’s due for a contract and extremely concussion prone.

  2. I was in the camp of picking up his 5th year option then seeing how it goes next year. If we can pair him up with a good X receiver I think he could shine even more.

  3. It’s just speculation of course, but I think there’s something to be said for keeping one proven WR in the building for the purpose of QB development. Olave is very good at getting open, and if a QB can’t find him then it’s a point in favor of the QB having issues. If you’ve got backup level guys out there dropping passes and running bad routes then grading your QB’s performance is that much more difficult.

That said, I would have been OK with trading him. This IS a rebuild year, and accruing assets to help Moore build his team is a path we can take.

  4. He’s still too concussive, and the Saints are still too broke, to resign him. The 2026 draft will have top-level WRs in the way that Hugh Hefner’s mansion had top-level chicks.

  5. Because 3 weeks ago he lead the league in targets but wasn’t even top 20 in yards.

He’s turned it around, but it’s revisionist history to act like he didn’t let the team down for multiple weeks. His drops singlehandedly lost us 2 games.

  6. The ROI was much higher for Shaheed. We got 2 picks for an UDFA with an injury history. We would’ve taken a bath on Olave, who is clearly the better overall player. So yeah, damn glad we didn’t trade him too.
